Just a quick question before I upgrade to win 6.5 on my Diamond2. The previous rom had Copilot7 installed and this prevented Copilot 8 to be installed as the previous version had to be removed and being in the rom this was impossible I was lucky enough to have had an older rom that did not have Copilot 7 on it so I was able to upgrade without a problem.
So the question is: does win 6.5 rom have Copilot installed in the rom thus preventing an upgrade to Copilot 8.
Wulls,
Are you talking about the official WM6.5 stock ROM, or a cooked ROM? If you intend to flash the former, then I don't know, but if you will be flashing a cooked ROM then it will not have Copilot 8 installed and you can do a fresh installation without any difficulty.
The official stock rom has CoPilot7 included.
Thanks to all for the quick reply yes it is the official stock rom I would be installing.
That sucks I would have thought with a new rom if HTC would have installed the latest ver. of Copilot.
I don't suppose there is a way around this?

It's entirely up to you, but cooked ROMs are miles ahead of stock ones, and from what I've read, the official one is way behind (manila version etc) the current cooked ones. I was hesitant to hard-spl my device and flash a cooked ROM, however it is easily the best the thing I've done with regards to my device - it opens up endless opportunities for having the latest look and feel and being able to customise etc. It is also very safe and almost risk-free if you follow the instructions correctly!
What I'm saying is that you can have Copilot Live 8 quite easily by taking the leap to a cooked ROM (the 'new' price is the same as the 'upgrade' price). I've done both and have no regrets, but it's up to you of course.
SKTools Uninstaller did the job for me....version 8 here I come
Thanks sb09 for the reply I have often thought of going the cooked rom way but I have read here that so many have instability and slowing down problems with the diamond2.
It looks as though I may have to go this way, which means I have lot of reading to do on how to install cooked roms. Do you have any recomendations as which cooked rom I should go for.

wulls,
If you are tempted, then I'd say don't hesitate - just do it (you will not regret it I promise). Just take lots of care initially and follow instructions, and when it's done, you'll say to yourself "well that was much easier than I thought it would be" - bet you!
We each have our our preferences and opinions, and many of us are devotees of one particular chef, though others like to try them all out.
I liked Dutty's ROMs since the days of the Touch Diamond. He churns out updates on a regular basis, listens to user feedback, and takes the safe reliable route of stable ROMS (which would definitely benefit the likes of yourself as a beginner). Others like udk, shadowline etc take more risks and can sometimes be more innovative using the latest builds etc, but these come less stable. Each to their own, but I prefer Dutty ROMs, and would strongly recommend you flash one of his (I stayed on his Leo R3 for a while cause I couldn't fault it, but now I'm on his Leo R6, though he's recently updated to R7 but I don't update mine on every occasion).
Hope this helps a bit. You'll be surprised how easy and safe and reliable it is once you get over the first steps! And you can upgrade to CPL8 of course.
copilot
i updated to win 6.5
it had copilot 7 trial on it so i just went to
start>settings>remove programs
and unistalled it from there
just waiting for copilot 8 to download now, before installing

Bought CP8. BE WARNED. Not all of the features work on the TD2. Some of the live features are greyed out thus reduceing funtionality. Fuel prices, Live local search AND Live Traffic. last one was a bit of a shock considering the money spent! BUT their site does say that CP8 MAY not work with TD2 so you takes your chances. If anybody has a fix especially for the traffic - very interested. Otherwise a graet product that complements your phone!!

It has nothing to do with the TD2. Fuel Prices, Live Local Search and Live Traffic have not been released for CP8 yet. They are not there on any device.
It is fully compatible with the TD2, there only may be problems with TD2's that came with CP7 pre-installed as that version can't be uninstalled (easily) stopping the CP8 install from working.
Please see this from ALK...
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
The current version of CoPilot Live 8 that we have on sale is fully compatible with the HTC Touch Diamond 2.
Unfortunately if you have a previous version of CoPilot 7 pre-installed with the customized version of CoPilot Live 7 for the HTC Diamond II on your device you won't be able to uninstall it and re-install the new version as HTC stop CoPilot from being removed from the device once installed.
In order to check if you have the customized version or not please send us your software build version:
Launch Copilot on your device / More / Settings / More / More / More / About Copilot / Version

Can they really do this? Surely there must be a way to remove it apart from a standard uninstall? Does other software behave like this?
Like I said before, using SK-Tools I have removed CP7 from the official HTC 6.5 ROM and successfully installed (DEACTIVATE needed if installed on 6.1 ROM) CP8 with no problemos.....

copilot 8 is available on the td2 as i selected the device- as loads others here have as well
but if you think that £26 is a lot of money for a sat nav service, then have a look at wayfinder - £50, blackberry telmaps - £5 a month, or tom tom which is what? £80+

Yes, installing a new rom will wipe all data. However you can backup contacts, calendar, notes and tasks with ActiveSync and you can backup everything with PIMbackup.

The question I've been asking myself is, will D2 really handle WM6.2+Manila 2.5 without lag issues? I mean, Manila 2.5 was ment for Leo with a 1ghz processor, not a weak ****ing 528mhz..
you're quite right to be conerned.. but actually a std 2.5 Manila was fine on mine (As shipped with Duttys latest ROM)
Just don't put all the fancy animated backgrounds & pretty clocks that you can get on this site or you're bolloxed. The thing ran like it was like walking through treacle. Once I'd reflashed back to a std black & background it was fine..
Here is a cab for 6.0/6.1 users for WM Marketplace or WM6.5 if its not installed in rom. I made it from 23053 skymarket oem pkg. Its for WWE only and only for devices that have a bootlauncher (IE no apache.) Let me know if it doesn't work on stock roms as its not signed as I'm not sure if signature is required but it will run on cooked roms with full kernel trust enabled.
Edit from reports it seems to run on stock roms too
Some reports that it errors if IE isn't default browser also.

Probably a trail run for the big launch tomorrow

I just tried it using the app in my ROM.. It downloaded a new version, and connected to the Marketplace, but there's only about a dozen apps online atm, and almost no free ones...
Hey, thanks! Works perfectly for me in the UK with my cooked 6.5 ROM!
I can admire my app online now!
Btw, it has a serious flaw. It doesnt require a PIN when purchasing something, thus anybody that may get his hands on your phone may start charging you as he likes.
Thanks a lot for this app, I don't have it on my 6.1 ROM. I'll give it a try tomorrow
Hi I have the ROM "Valkyrie XPERIO" (the latest version).
I have installed the CAB and when I click on it I get the message:

I know the internet connection is fine, I didn't have marketplace built into the ROM so just wondered if someone has seen this error message?

Hi all!
I really enjoy reading this great forum for quite some time. This time I'll start asking :
Since I like Igo8 a lot (esp. TTS), I was quite disappointed to see TTS not working on my NeoTouch official ROM 3.003EN, no Today-Plugins loaded and soft-reset (it is (was) working fine on my X900 and Ipaq214) though. AFAIK, it can be boiled down to insufficient fee RAM on WM6.5 devices. Indeed, I can pick a TTS voice from the Igo menu and actually hear it talking it's version text etc. but Igo crashes a few seconds later.
Is there any chance to brew a custom ROM with a significant lower RAM footprint compared to the official one?
I would suggest you first to try the 3.003b official ROM and then if it's something you don't like reflash to a cooked one..

Hi Tomtom 7 works great on HD2.The only problem is u have to buy maps from tomtom and u cannot use the downloaded maps as it does not recognize them in any way.tomtom will allow you to download one city map for free.
One more thing .Install tomtom 7_915.9196 version only.
If you try the other versions it will knock off your blue tooth.its really amazing.

Yes that version works fine .. You can add it to the whitelist for the gsensor and that also works well ...
Also on the forum there is a patch that makes it work with the navipanel, if I cannot find the thread, or you can't I think I still have the patch ... Don't want to post it and insult the original poster till other options are tried ...
I've read that some people have removed CoPilot and Navipanel from their custom Roms. Thing is I've flashed to 2.10 and 2.11 STOCK Roms and never saw that NaviPanel and Copilot were working together. I saw Navitel working with NaviPanel even after installing CoPilot and the Copilot update for HD2. So why can't it work? What Roms were you guys using that did work with NaviPanel and Copilot?
Also, to anyone making custom roms, PLEASE don't remove NaviPanel. No one has been able to restore it through cab files and the ROM is usually the culprit that can't get it restored. Just asking because a lot of custom Rom creators are taking away or putting in programs that require updates or you'll require to install and you can't do it. So please don't do that anymore
Bump, come on somebody. Why are all the custom rom's NaviPanel not working?
By not working I mean all the buttons except PHONE are grayed out.
I think I've figured out some things here. The ORIGINAL HD2 NOT THE TMOBILE VERSION came with CoPilot being run by default on NaviPanel. TeleNav was the one that NaviPanel runs by default on Tmobile version of HD2. I just wonder what differences could be made to enable NaviPanel. Some have posted some success with some minor registry tweaks to just OPEN their GPS program of choice, but not the actual ACTION which the button is suppose to do (Like Navigation, Home, etc.)
Navipanel and Copilot
I also have been having quite a bit a problems with this.
After a number of rom flashes, I now have some basic functionnality.
For the record, I have a telstra hd2 with Miri rom (with the 576 mb of ram). I got the full version with sense. This is available at htcpedia.com.
First thing, you need to download the Laurentius27 GPS copilot 1.0.0.457 cab.
Here is the link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/192636567/3129888e/Laurentius26_GPS_Copilot_1_0_0.html
The 659 version (see the 2577 file) provided by Copilot will not work with Navipanel. Also, the April 6 copilot hd2 us update also does not work with navipanel.
Also, I found that I needed to install an icon and a .lnk file in the registry (I modified the cab of Laurentius) so as to do this. This enabled all the buttons whereas before I only could use the phone button.
All the buttons work. I can access my phone and favorites as well as footprints photos etc.
The problem is that none of the info is transferred to copilot. So clicking on the home button will only open copilot. Same for the recent etc.
I am looking to see if there is some intermediary file that may be missing to enable communication between copilot and sense. This should be some type of database or xml file. I am guessing that this file was present in the early european rom but not in the later asian and tmobile ones. All the cooks migrated to the newer roms and the file was left behind.
So, to install and have copilot working with navipanel on HD2.
1. Uninstall copilot but not the maps on your storage card.
2. Install in memory (not storage) the Laurentius gps cab above.
3. Install in memory (not storage) the icons using the attached cab navipanel cab file.
Thanks for your reply. Still before you replied I went ahead and tried the Dutty's Rom at HTCPedia. They had a CoPilot cab that did the same thing you explained. Problem now is, it doesn't do the exact ACTION that it's supposed to do (like you stated). So now I'm looking for that solution. Any chance you know how to fix that?

Truth is I think even the American HD2s had NaviPanel written to CoPilot. Tmobile never had it so no use looking there. The Asian ones I can't say I know anything about. At one point there HAS to be a stock rom that had copilot working with navipanel. It just confuses me that this is one of those things that NO ONE tried to fix/perfect in any of their own roms.
Copilot - Navipanel lack of interaction

Interesting. I tried Dutty's copilot cab with Miri's rom and it did not work!
Guess the problems might even be more rom specific then I thought.
Did that cab install a navipanel icon for you and if so where?
What is the version of the copilot that it installed?
BTW for your info, the European rom is the one that had navipanel (rom 1.43 and 1.48). The reason I suspect this is the htc hd2 user manual details how to use navipanel. I suspect the missing links are buried in the 1.43 and 1.48 rom which were the initial roms with the t8585. Now cooks are on 2.1. so it will be a challenge to find a cook to return to an old rom to find missing links to then integrate the missing links in the new roms.
BTW here is the link to the latest English Uk rom v1.48 (from htcpedia)
http://htcpedia.com/official_wm_updated_rom_htc_hd_leo_english_europe_version/soft/htc-leo-rom.html
I may try to flash a stock 1.43 or 1.48 to see if it works and if so I will install a kitchen to try and extract this.
Thanks

Well, I'm not sure what version it is. I think it's a older version, because when installing the newer "HD2" version the UI changes a little. Duttys apps tend to be very specific to his roms. I know only because I've tried his other apps like the eReader, Documents tab, etc and they never function on other roms as well as on his. I can't say I've seen any Tmobile roms that had the CoPilot app in it. Even the stock roms here have the TeleNav on it routed to NaviPanel by default. NaviPanel never really had an icon for me. I just did the /Windows NaviPanel thing to open the NaviPanel program. I'm currently just waiting to get my carkit to use it correctly. I dunno, I contacted Dutty and it seems he doesn't have a solution for routing the correct action to it either. So we'll have to see what happens.

Thanks

Just remember though the Dutty CoPilot install didn't get me anywhere different than where you are. The only thing it did was ungray the buttons and every button except FootPrint and Phone launch CoPilot. It seemed to have installed the version of CoPilot that just came with the original HD2 (im guessing so because Dutty owns a normal HD2 not Tmobile branded). Of course I think that when he extracted it not ALL of the registry or xml or database was extracted with it. By the way I'm using the latest version of Duttys rom. The one with the 2.11 OEM driver build from tmobile.
Navipanel icon
If you want, try the navipanel cab I posted. It should give you an icon (credit for the icon goes to Laurentius),
All this does is copy a navipanel png to the windows directory and registers a link for that icon.
Let me know if it works.
I will try stock rom 1.48 shortly Too curious.

the 1.48 is a european rom right? I'm in US so I don't think itd work with me.
I just thought i'd suggest you use iGo8. Im using it with my us htc hd2, in california, works perfect no data usage needed and was free =]]
Whats good about copilot and navipanel???
Navipanel and 1.48 rom
Just downloaded and flashed 1.48 uk rom.
Navipanel works fine but the links only open copilot. Address, recent etc. do not work. Maybe at a later date.
Going back to a more recent ROM
I looked into the user guide for the uk versions. Here is the link:
http://member.america.htc.com/download/web_materials/Manual/HTC_HD2/091229_HD2_HTC_WWE_UM.pdf
It does not mention any special link with address, recent etc. So I guess that may be why it is not working. Maybe in the future
I am looking into getting a copilot sdk and maybe there is something to do with this but then I also need to modify the navipanel dll and exe! More learning ...
Also, the only mention of copilot was to save the footprint pictures in the my document\my poi folder on device and folder and these would be accessible to copilot photonav but did not have any success there as well.
I am looking at copilot as this is I find it cool that it integrates with navipanel and the pinch to zoom is nice. Although I must say that their maps are outdated. At present, if I believe their maps, I would be underwater I posted an update request as their ask we do so will need to look into if this is actually followed up.
Google maps is still the most acurate but now I have a limited data plan and want to be able to use the maps features when roaming or in Europe.

Well it's not that we can't get CoPilot to work. Any GPS program works on the HD2 as far as I've read (some with some tweaks). We are just trying to find a way to run it from NaviPanel. Navipanel is something that activates whenever you plug it into your carkit for the HD2. Nothing is so "great" about it, but it's a feature that we want to activate and use. And as I've said before no one that has built any custom rom has been able to correctly apply NaviPanel with any GPS program to date.

Sigh, I guess it's just a feature that never existed then. I can't find much proof that it ever did unless it was a HTC HD2 unbranded. Thanks anyways tho man.

After digging around I think I found some information, but nothing amazing unfortunately.
According to HTC HD2 users, while it was normal for NaviPanel to be hard coded to CoPilot the beginning version (the one built into the rom) didn't do anything but just OPEN the program itself. That's right, basically we are where they were in the beginning.
BUT
After CoPilot came out with the "HD2" update it fixed 2 things. The Home button would open up the menu for you to click your home location and be routed there. Also, the Footprint button would open up CoPilot to again route to where that footprint was taken. Those 2 things were the ONLY improvements on that "HD2" update. Now, yeah it's not an amazing update, still I want to have those features. So currently I'm just looking to see if anyone can provide the original files that were linking CoPilot and NaviPanel. SOMETHING in those will provide the solution to this.
Navipanel copilot integration update
Hi,
I have been exchanging emails with copilot support for navipanel integration. They were very helpful and prompt.
I am happy to post that they have got the integration fully working!
They sent me an upgraded licence key that enables full navipanel and copilot interaction.
Home now opens up copilot and takes me home within copilot.
Recent opens up copilot and gives me my recent locations.
Adresses now opens up adresses in copilot
Footprint also works, I can now get to the Statue of Liberty! Paris is a bit tougher however From Canada at least. You can now take geotagged pictures in footprints and route to them using navipanel and copilot!
If you have copilot, contact support to get the upgrade code (it is free)!.
You need to contact support at:
CoPilot Technical Support
http://support.alk.com
Navipanel is a cool feature to have, make sure your custom rom supports however or see my previous post!
Yep, that really did it. I was just talking to ALK when you sent me that PM lol. Turns out the upgrade key somehow manages to enable those functions for NaviPanel. Please somehow make this a sticky. At one point people WILL come in asking for a NaviPanel/CoPilot fix.
