Hey All:
I'd like to create a shortcut to the Screen Rotate function for when I want to use my GPS software in Landscape mode.
You know - something shorter than doing a START > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > SCREEN.
Thoughts? Can't seem to find what controls it.
I know there is a rotation shortcut in the HTC Homeplug today screen addin - but I don't want to use that otherwise and just want to pop a shortcut into iLauncher.
You can go to button settings and assign a hard button to the rotate screen function.
Of course this assumes you are willing to give up a hard button... not sure if you are from reading your post.
Have you looked at Resco Explorer? I know Resco Explorer allows you to create start menu shortcuts. Maybe you can just create a shortcut of the Rotate screen exe.
You can try AE Button Plus. It allows you to map virtually any program or function to a hard button. And you can map several things to one button because you can map to single, double, triple, and long press. I have it set to double pressing the left soft key will switch to landscape mode.
Any chance anyone knows the file for rotating the screen? Funny enough it's not named rotatescreen.exe.
For now, I used iLauncher which has a rotate screen function and assigned it to an icon on my desktop.... but it seems crazy to me no one knows where to find the file or command that does this
Ok, I'll have to give iLauncher a look. It's funny because there is a screen rotate function in the HTC Home plugin I'm using, but it rotates the screen the opposite direction that I want on my Mogul. I'll have to keep looking.
Registry Change
I have been looking to do the same thing for some time now. i found that it's a registry value so my thinking is that it must be possible to create a script or app that can change this value but i have yet to find one.
the reg key and values are:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION]
Change the Value of "Angle" to the
dword:00000000 or dword:00000360 -> Portrait Mode
dword:00000090 -> Landscape(Right-Handed)
dword:00000180 -> Portrait Up-side Down
dword:00000270 -> Landscape (Left-Handed)
hopefully someone can come up with something from this. I'm using a touch btw but i think the reg values should be universal.
ok i found an app that will do it!!! see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=230981
it works great on my touch with WM6
for anyone interested i have since made a mortscript that will switch to and fro a little faster than rotateSE if someone wants it i can post it here.
This would be a good place for that, post away!

for anyone who was looking for my screenrotate mortscript sorry for the delay in posting it. it will be posted tonight. i have been very busy/tired of late but tonight is the night. anyone who does not have mortscript can get it here MortScript
here it is. i assumed that mortscript would be installed in \program files
place the script file anywhere on your device. See Previous post for link to get mortscript.
Try this small program, just execute in device then it will rotate. no installation required.

Thanks man, works 100% nice with my HTC P3600 with WM6.1
Trying to create a button link to "settings" in my verizon ppc for UL, any ideas?
thank you very much.
Jon
"UltimateLaunchConfig.exe" is the app. What kind of "button link" do you want? In a UL button? or a hard button?
If you mean create a button to show the settings menu, this should work for you:
Go to Windows\Start Menu
Copy Settings
Paster a shortcut (for settings) anywhere.
create a new button using the shortcut you created

Much respect to all first and foremost. From my experience with UL, that may work for some applications located in the Windows folder, but not all. For instance, you cannot create a shortcut for the Today settings to switch up your themes, Power/Soft Reset , or even Remove Programs either. There's a slew of programs that can't be made into shortcuts within UL. It's perhaps a limitation of UL.
But there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. If one desperately wants to create /include such applications (Power, Resetting, Today, etc) with UL, one can install Mobile Shell because it create shortcuts in itself, which UL can then detect. Pocket Plus may be able do the same, but I'm uncertain.
Also, the word on the street, the next version will be 'better' and I don't have the slightest clue as to when that release will surface. I'm no expert, just a big fan like of UL. My two cents.
this answer is a little bit wrong:
1. you can make a Shortcut to ANY wm setting. example: command: ctlpnl, param: cplmain.cpl,10 (for uninstalling software) search in the other ul threads.
2. Daniel Who wrote UL made also some "smartutilities" for make calll, toggle wifi, softreset and many more, google for it. this are small .exe you can link to.
yes, i was attempting to have a button inside of UL access the settings area. I have the xv6700 which appears to have a problem with keeping UL on the today screen after a soft reset. so before I soft reset I need to change my today plugin to something else. otherwise when i reboot nothing shows up and will not load any other plug-ins. Makes it easy to have a quick link cause I'm not a stylus fan.
Thank you very much guys. would have never thought of making a short cut of it. thanks again!

Good information. This seems to be a hot topic at the moment and assume this info hasnt been highlighted before. Perhaps a brave soul will post some shortcut command params, directions/instructions in their spare time, and have them listed/located in one thread for easy like the icons. (And also some of those "smartultilities" as well).
How about game area ? my problem 's it's difficult to create all game in icons. so I would like to make a link to call all game folder as when we call it by startmenu

Well, I'm not very brave, but I knew this page existed on PPCSG.COM, so I thought I'd share it. It shows how you can create .LNK files to many of the Settings Applets. Hope it helps.

Here is a link to majority of the settings options:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340974
Just find the one you want, open notepad on your PC copy the line into notepad, with only that text, and save as power.lnk, for example, then have the button set to that link.
Any Idea on how to add a folder shortcut? I want to have my different photo albums
Is there a way to specify the appropriate ICON in the .lnk file? I have the "cplmain.cpl,26" working but it just shows a generic icon.
Just change the icon in the display tab.

Did you ever get an answer on this? If so, how do you make a shortcut to a folder? I've tried using the context menu of creating a shortcut and then having UL point to the shortcut but it doesn't open it.
Thanks for any info!

I hadn't used this yet, but resco explorer has an option (you have to edit the regsitry for it) that let's you load folders according to command line arguments (then you can use UL to load the folder in resco straight using a command line).
you should check it out.

I made this mistake as well, it's because you've missed the most important part.
1. HKLM\Software\SonyEricsson\PanelManager\ApplicationName
2. e.g. Change it to "\..\Windows\Pie.exe"
"\..\"
You must put that at the start. I did my comm manager and has to do:
"\..\Windows\CommManagerLink.exe"
Thanks for finding this to the OP as well, been looking to get this changed for a while!
i installed one of the roms that do not have panel manager installed. this trick doesnt seem to work on the rom
im confused
cansomeone pls explain what u can achieve by changing this buttoins function other than losing acces to the panel function :S or does this simply mean u can save cpu usage
pls reply with some insight
thnx
Uh... but if you assign your panel button to something else.... then how you gonna access the panels still?
This is incase you dont use the panels.
Like me... i have had the original rom, and 2 roms here on this forum (custom)
And with every rom i had the same thing.
Having tf3d and panels will crash my phone (when i use e.g. google panel and then hit the x for panel change, then i often need to remove battery and place it again)
i rather have the tf3d then panels if i have to choose.
so thats why i use the X for a different app.
AE Button Plus
Or you could use 'AE Button Plus' it works for me flawlessly. I can assign the Panel Button to just about anything I choose.
how did you asign something to the AE button?
how do i reassign another button to run panel manager? I tried to execute /Program Files/Panel Manager/PanelManager.exe but that does not bring up the panel manager

In AE Button Plus main screen, select FILE menu and choose ADD BUTTON and the dialog box that pops up is waiting for you to press a hardware button...
Press the X-PANEL button (which will probably launch panel manager if it's installed, no matter close that down) it will then allow you to press in the dialog box 'ADD KEY' and also shows you the Key code...
The key code will be next to the newly created button in the list for you to assign to whateve you like.

Yeah, assign Quickmenu.exe to the panel button and you get a "startmenu" button. Search for Quickmenu 2.7 around the forum....
doesnt work
I followed your directions and can't get the x-panel button to run quickmenu. It still runs the panel manager. There's something else that needs to be done, and I haven't' a clue what that is.
At least I was able to load the cab file that makes panels work on the touch HD. So when I eventually get the x-panel button reassigned, I can still access panels (which I infrequently do as it is). I have yet to see the value of panels. I like running things in the background concurrently, i.e. listening to streaming radio or mp3, txt'ing, using GPS, or exploring on the web. Panel switching seems to halt other tasks.
Kinda works
Finally got quickmenu to work with the x-panel key. Another important tidbit of info is that quickmenu must already be running for the x-button to invoke it. Otherwise it loads panelmanager.
Another bit of info, as soon as you run panel for the first time (in programs, the touch HD cab adds it on install), the behavior reverts back to the x-panel key invoking panelmanager and not quickmenu. I checked, quickmenu is still running. Figure that one out. Very confusing.
i installed panel as a seperate cab, i dont have the panel manager in my programs and i cant seem to invoke it any other way besides pressing the hardware button

Greetings,
Here is a way from me, to make it possible, to customize your hardware buttons.
Step one:
Start the attached FDC Taskmanager, then tap <Menu>, <Options>, set enabled on "Create RegEdit Shortcut".
Now you can open the Regedit - Shortcut in Startmenu ( <Programs> - <System> ) and .reg - files will be associated with FDC-TM.
Now doubletap on the attached .reg - file, select importing.
Ready!
Restart the device!
Feature lost: Navipanel not start automatically, when you put the phone in carkit. Copy the Navipanel.lnk in Startmenu or lay it of the navigation-button.
Step two:
1. klick "Start"
2. klick "Settings"
3. klick "Hardware-Buttons"
4. customize

Hi!
I have succesfully created the two buttons in the control panel of the PDA and assigned them to right and left program key. And the work!
My problem is that the Tomtom and Footprint also start, which is a feature I would like to remove. I would much rather have them start the old fashion way, as this is a phone as a primary device.
Can anyone direct me to a solution. I would like to keep the programs installed but can as a last resort remove them if it helps (and if I can).

This problem occurs when you do not set the "NaviService" service to Manual and stop it. See the first post in this thread from Mirko, he explains it.
@ Snwstrm

No such service
Hi!
Thanks for a quick reply. I don't have FDC but Pocket Controller Pro as a task handling program and I cannot see any service that resembles the one U are talking about. My guess is that it differs depending on localization, but I will try to get a hold of FDC program to verify.
I tried to get help from HTC, but they couldn't help me. I guess they have some deal w TomTom and don't want to make it easy to switch or eradicate their program. They wrote to me about PocketToolman but it did nothing new, just a nifty way to access controlpanel.
Keep on looking,
Snwstrm
What about Google? FDC TM is freeware.
Greetz Mirko!
Victory!
You are absolutely right! I will have to contact SOTI regarding their software. FDC worked wonders and now I see no trace of TomTom or Footprint. Just the way I wanted.
Thanks!
Snwstrm
Nice, can help!
Thanks for this. I switched from Vox and I was quite angry, when I had to tap to top right to confirm something. Now footprint does this.

Help Needed
Hey there mirko, Could you please help me with a very detailed way as I have tried to do as you have said in your first post but to be honest I have no idea.
I have imported the the keys to the registry (I think) then I have copied the navipanel to start menu but I am having trouble with the last part using the task mananger. If at all possible would Somebody Please give a detailed instructions.. Thankyou Very much
you can also, customize the hardware buttons with the M2DC (manilla 2D customizer)...
I have a Fuze with everything turned off but what I want (runs quick and smooth). I really don't want 3rd party bloatware and other "TaskManager" or "QuickMenu" applications. I am simply looking for the syntax/shortcut (or maybe small app to launch the built-in HTC QuickMenu that is in the top right corner of the Windows Mobile screen.
I like this QuickMenu and the options that are available... most of all I like that it's already a part of my phone (so hopefully nothing more to install but a shortcut). From what I can tell it's part of the "taskservice.dll" that is loaded in \HKCU\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\TaskManager\
Since the Icon in the top-right for the QuickMenu is so small (and I hate getting out the stylus) I wish to map a shortcut/command-syntax preferrably to Right-Soft Key, or possibly a hardware button like PTT.
I've contacted HTC by email and they simply said it couldn't be done but I know that's probably not the case... I just need a super genious hacker to give me the right syntax/steps to make it work.
Thank you in advance for whoever can help on this!!!!
Michael
*** Please Relocate Thread if I have somehow posted it in the wrong section. Thanks!!! ***
all you have to do to launch QM from a hardware button is maake a shortcut to programs. then, go into \settings\personal\buttons and select your program to run from one of your buttons.
you can also go into qm settings and select the option to replace the start menu.
also, QM is a third party app.
SVI,
Thanks for the reply.. I guess I should have clarified that I am familiar with the steps for creating a shortcut to an EXE however the QuickMenu that is built in to HTC's Fuze is calling a DLL at startup... so the trick would be how do I shortcut/call a DLL file that has been started up as a service??
I am not interested in any other 3rd party QuickMenu, just wanting to find the way to call up the one that is already installed on my phone... ie. by pointing a shortcut (or possibly small launch app) to start up the "taskservice.dll" with whatever tags/options to open the menu on the Today Screen.
Thanks for any additional info you may be able to provide!
Could you found the solution?
no answers yet
Sancho,
I have still been unable to find the solution, and would very much STILL BE interested in finding it. In the meantime I have just used a shortcut to the built-in Taskmgr.exe (\Windows\Taskmgr) or TaskManagerApp.exe also found in Windows. Both programs are different versions of Task Manager and I found that I like Taskmgr a bit better because I can switch to an open application using that version of Task Manager. However I still like the HTC Quickmenu in the top right corner (other than the fact that it is way to small to hit with your finger) and would love to find a way to point a shortcut to the opening it up while on the Today Screen so that I can see running apps, easily close all, switch to one in particular, or see my power & memory settings.
If anyone still has any ideas on how I might accomplish this I would be extremely grateful! Again I am wanting to do this Natively, using the HTC QuickMenu (Taskservices.dll) already built-in and not interested in installing another 3rd party app that takes up memory.
Thanks in Advance for any help that may be offered!
Michael
Thank you for your fast reply!
Re: Shortcut/App to Launch HTC QuickMenu
I just got a fuze and when i went through the settings i found out what your probably trying to do. Go to Start/setting/the small tab on the bottom that you would find your ''hold end key button''/ Hold end key setting. when you get there , they will be a couple settings relating to what you want your end key shorcut to be. then you will click on ''access quick menu'' (or something like that).
The HTC Quick Menu 2.1 (Build 1918.3631) settings:
(Start / Settings / Systems / Task Manager / Button)
Enable the "X" button to end running programs
End programs by tapping "X"
End programs by tapping and holding "X"
Enable Quick Menu on Today screen
(no more...)
I don't think that it is possible to find a shortcut for this. (do hope that I'm wrong and somebody can find the way and share it here though)
But I would like to recommend one of my favorite light apps which can realize what you desired for. It is called HButton and created by an xda contributor, please referhere:

In Hbtton settings, the <Ok/Close> function actually point to the upper-right corner of the screen.
Think you will like it.
No, thanks, I don't want to install 3rd party apps. : )
I think, need to find a solution here, as under Windows the "rundll32.exe" the "taskservice.dll" to run.

If in fact it activates the Quick Menu on the Today screen by activating the upper-right corner, then it may be an app worth trying.
