*jump to ashtricks for immediate problems without reading software/ROM changes.
I know this is going to be made especially difficult with all the different software/combo's that can be loaded, but I have to post this up and see if any one else has seen this and if it might be hardware or software.
I have a HERMS 100 (8525). I first got the phone in April with WM5 (don't know which build they might have been on then) and which ever Radio was coming on them then. My battery would usually last 2 days with my avg use.
This has been the case threw upgrades until the last 2-3 months. I upgraded From one version of WM6 to VP3G's 2.X build of WM6 and I upgraded the radio to which ever version was the newest at that time (maybe 1.47 or 1.50). I Noticed a sudden drop in battery life, but the phone pretty much always made it a full day even with high use, so I didn't think much of it. I did notice about this time that sometimes the phone would alarm me and say it had 20% battery remaining, but if I rebooted the phone it would say 80 or 90% power remaining when it came back on and work fine the rest of the day.
The following has been over the last month. I upgraded to VP3G's 3.0 and again later to 3.6 and again to 3.62. I noticed the battery continued to degrade throughout this time. So I upgraded the radio to 1.54. The battery continued to go down hill at an even rate, but I noticed something else, the battery would not take very long to charge, but was dying faster and faster.
Well I started tracking and experimenting. Starting last week (no change in software or ROM's for the last 2 or 3 weeks) the battery would rarely make it through the day even when the phone was not in use any during the day (Granted I get no cell service at my desk at work, but I never have even back when the phone would last 2 days searching for signal). Most days last week it wouldn't make it 5 hours from being unplugged even when the phone wasn't in use. I decided to run the battery all the way down to where it wouldn't even turn the phone on anymore as I had heard sometimes you needed to do that after a rom upgrade. It did not help, but I noticed that the phone said the battery was fully charged within 2 hours from being completely dead.
*
Today was the worst, I unplugged it after being plugged in all night. Unplugged it at 6:45am. I did not use the phone, it just stayed in standby (I hadn't even taken it out of standby any today. I am at work with no service (When I say no service, I don't mean sometimes it finds something, I mean no cell service from any carrier makes it past 10 feet of the front doors entering the building and I am about 150 feet from the closest wall to the outside). I grab the phone at around 10:30am to check on a meeting notice, clicked on the phone to wake up and the battery alarm alerted and the battery said I only had 20% power remaining. In 5 minutes of doing what I was doing the battery had gone down to 10% remaining (so the phone went from lost 90% of it's power, never being used in less then 4 hours). I went back to my desk, plugged the phone back in and within an hour I noticed the amber light on the front that I relate it to telling me it's charging had turned green, I unplugged it and checked it and the battery said it was full 100%. Could the battery really charge that fast?
*
I know this would be easier if I could remember what radio and what version of WM5 came on this phone and loaded it back on and I am in the middle of downgrading the radio since I had ran WM6 with no battery issues separate from WM5 until I did that one upgrade with the radio. I guess I am curious if this could be a hardware (phone or battery) where it's not charging fully or if this seems to be a software issue.
I know all the factors that can be involved make this hard, but thanks for any responses you guys can give.
ok, how about this one, Is my battery screwed? I notice while I am using the phone the battery gets really hot. Today it did the same thing of all of a sudden saying I had 10% power after only using it for 5 mintues, rebooted the phone and now I am back to 70%.
Hi,
There's a lot on here about this problem. Have you read the wiki?
Some solutions you might try:
- turn wifi off.
- turn off all beams
- put in the fake server trick.
- search to see if you have any software that continuously polls the battery or is seeking an exchange server
- ensure all your apps fully close rather than minimise
- invest in a new battery.
WB
Thanks, I have gone through the wiki Continuasly since I got the phone in April, but with all the stuff out there, I could have easily missed something.
- turn wifi off - Never turn it on
- turn off all beams - Beaming disabled
- put in the fake server trick - Have to research that one
- search to see if you have any software that continuously polls the battery or is seeking an exchange server - have to check, don't have exchange server setup. I do have it checking emails every 15 minutes, but I never had any issues with that setting and the battery lasting a couple of days
- ensure all your apps fully close rather than minimise - X button set to close not minimize and I often check it to see whats running.
- invest in a new battery. - Will be doing that next. Just waiting to see what case I might get for Christmas.
Thanks again, I will research those other items.
I had a similar problem where the stock battery would only ever last for ~7-8 hours - even on standby. I got an extended life 3000mAh battery and that managed to last for about 14 hours.
I had a talk to HTC and they agreed to warranty claim it. I'm still waiting for it back... It was sent back to them on 14/11, and I'm still waiting.
Stop your device checking for emails for a few days and ses what happens. Definitely install the fake server trick. Activesync continuosly trying to do its dirty work can be a pain in the arsenal, at times.
Let us know how you get on.

Well I turned off email checks last night and disabled the radio this morning so it wouldn't search for signal when coming to work and set the phone on my desk. I never used it this morning, just had it sitting on my desk in standby, until about 4 hours after I took it off the charger and the phone buzzed me and when I checked the phone the battery said 0% remaining and the phone cut off a few seconds later (now I am sure if I would have turned it back on the battery would say something like 70%, but I didn't do that this time). I left the phone off and plugged it into the computer to charge, the LED on the front come on amber for about 20 minutes then went to green. I turned the phone on and it says 100%. I don't see how the battery went from 0 to 100 in a matter of 20 minutes.
I did a lot of searching the last couple of days and phone issues from email to bad manufactured batteries (which I happen to have the brand someone suggested as a bad one), I also saw people pointing out do the fake server trick, yet I can't find a single time where anyone said what the trick is or how to do it. Not even in the WIKI where the trick was mentioned as a possible fix (or google for that matter, just the same words first posted in a thread here about it).
So, how do you do this server trick?
I plan to get a new battery after Christmas at any rate.
Check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338421&highlight=fake+server+trick
I was having the same battery drain problem (less than 8 hrs on a full charge), I did the fake server and turned off auto day light saving time checking the clock settings, I now get 12 - 15 hrs on a full charge.
I'm running vp3G's 3.62.3 AT&T ROM with radio 1.54.07.00
Thanks! I was just finishing flashing a new ROM when I saw this. I did the fake server trick, but this rom doesn't have the Dya Light Savings time option where the instructions say it should be. Maybe that's all removed by this rom. TIme will tell.
Thanks again.

hey buddy!!
I am using a JasJam for the last 2 months. i dont know if my reply is useful to you or not. As far as battery life is concerned am impressed with mine. Am using TNT's latest ROM and my radio version is 1.54.07.00. I use my phone all day with couple of calls that last about 2-3 min each. But every night I get calls from my gf, to whom I talk for 3 hours straight(mostly starting from 11pm to 2 am) and every day I put my phone to charge after I finish the call. So after finishing the call I still have 50% of battery. Moreover our call starts right after I leave work at 11pm so by the time I reach home which is around 11.30pm my phone connects to wifi too. So all the time am on the call as well as an active wifi connection.
So as per my experience the battery life is cool. So try TNT ROM!!!
Interestingly enough, now I've got my phone back from the warranty claim, it's only drawing 81mA with backlight on, no wifi or BT. Before sending it back, it was drawing ~180mA with backlight on, no wifi or BT.
This will just about double the battery life that I get in theory...
Install BatteryStatus on your device and see what it tells you.
That is a cool program.
First off I really hope it isn't the phone, for one it's my third one from Cingular since the first two died within 2 weeks (back in may), second it's got one big gash down the corner where it came out of the holder and hit the road one day. I think that would be just enough reason for them to not do anything with it.
Anyway, I am going to replace the battery because I can't figure out why the phone is doing things like saying it has 20% batt remaing, then I reboot and it goes to 70%. I am hoping this is a battery issue. So far the phone has been unplugged for a tad less then one hour, has not been used and the battery meter is on 90%.
Battery Status is a kick butt program and I plan to do some searching today to see if people have benchmarked there ratings/draw. I notice mine jumps randomly. With wifi, BT, all programs all terminated, backlight on the lowest it will go and radio has one bar 3g sometimes, two bars Edge sometimes, but didn't change during watching this list below, but the MA does this every 5 second refresh:
111--190----125-----109----250----210-----140----135----226---111---etc.
I am currently running a barebones fresh flash WM6 rom with nothing installed except Cingulars media net/ISP settings, radio is 1.47.10. Going to try 1.50 today I think.
I turned the radio off just now and the MA went down (expected) to 84 and is jumping between that and 104. The battery has dropped to 80% since I listed 90 above. The phone has now been unplugged for right at an hour. Also it might be interesting to note that the little battery percent/bar icon on the "Battery Status" software once in a while will display -1% like it is right now, the phones battery display says 80% and when I tap the battery icon on battery status it jumps to 80%.
Anyway, I am just listing points since this thread is here, I know I need to replace the battery first before any additional insight can be brought forward.
Thanks everyone.
Hmm.. On my Schaps 4.22full, radio 1.54.00 on good reception (on Finnish network) I get around 30 mA with GSM and 3G when idling(no wifi, no bluetooth, no beam, backlight around halfway). With airplane mode on I get around 28 mA. Tried with backlight dimmest and the drain was 15mA on GSM network.
Usually I put the 3G off so the battery would last longer.
The phone takes more power when searching the network so it would be a good idea trying to switch the phone part off at your office.
Well, looks like it was indeed the battery. Over the last week the phone would randomly shut off (about 4 times a day), the battery would be at 10% within 4 hours even if the phone hadn't been used, and while using the phone you could almost watch the battery go from 90% to 30% within a 5 minute talk time, reboot the phone and it would be back at 80%.
Put in the new battery yesterday after charging over night and the phone not only didn't shut off at any point, but I had 60% power remaining by the end of the day (with some data and voice use).
The old battery was a Dynapack from China, that I had read on here is prone to defects.
Thanks for the help everyone, wish I would have gotten a new batt sooner.
Hi all
At the moment I seem to be getting about 10hrs out of my battery that came with me brand new HD2!
I was told to upgrade my radio which i did to 2.08 and firmware which i did to ENERGY ROM 23544 but the battery life is the same, maybe i have a faulty battery!!!!
I just did a Battery Log and need your help in trying to find the problem and hopefully getting me to the point of my phone lasting 24hrs would be good!!!
the phone was put into standby mode and left yet it goes upto 200+mAh when the screen is off
ok i have email checked every 15min
no weather
no location
no facebook or twitter
just emails
wifi off
WMlongbatterylife installed so 2G all the time except when running certain apps which are not in use when in standby, I have emails to use on 2G
just cant understand why it can go to 12mAh in standby but not stay there,(in standby mode is 12mAh high)
ok a little increase but not 250+mAh, i could understand it being every 15mins for the email but its every couple of minutes!!
in taskmanager all that was in it for this test was active sync and arkswitch, plus batter Log v0.2.1.1
Please please help
Battery Log
Battery Test Graph
just in case the test was too small, i did a test on the 15th March which i will also upload just in case it can help, many thanks
15thMarch Bat Test
Way too short indeed. Make one over one whole day, or at least over 50% of the battery, and if possible tell when the phone is in standby and when in use, hard to guess what you're doing from the log.
I did Nothing, the 1st log was the phone in standby, the screen was off so why would it go up and down in the 2nd graph when its in stand by, its crazy that every couple of seconds it goes upto 200+ mAh
the short log and graph are the same time when the phone was in standby!!!
I meant on the longer log, the short one is too short to see much.
You certainly have some program that wakes up the device repeatedly to do whatever...
I have had my phone since december. My experience was also unforgivingly short battery time to start with, just as you have. My experience is however that the battery time has increased more or less continously up to now. Now it may last one full day, through the night and maybe all of next day (with moderate use and no automatic checks). Letting the battery down to 1-3% before charge did speed this process.
Where can I find such Battery Log / graph app ?
i did a bat log test last night when i was sleeping and if you could have a look at it when i post it that would be great i was sleeping so i do not understand why it shows a 150+mAh strange!!
all that is running is emails every 15mins i did a bat log test last night when i was sleeping and if you could have a look at it when i post it that would be great i was sleeping so i do not understand why it shows a 150+mAh strange!!
so to make clear, last night i was sleeping, phone in standby mode but i have emails every 15mins
no weather
no twitter
no FB
no location
wmlonglife installed
as far as i know its just emails are running every 15mins
when i go in task manager all that is there is active sync and bat log
but if i go in processes i see more
Bat Log App
Bat Log running all night when i was sleeping
These are the processes that were running
Wow, your nights are short
Anyway, there's something that prevents your HD2 from going to standby, as there's no "hole" in the log. I was suspecting it was the logging software itself (if it logs, the device must be running, right?)
But I tested it and it doesn't seem to cause trouble, see attached log. When the device is properly off, the log stops.
I also tried without logging but by watching the graph, knowing each square is 15secs by default (3x5), during a 10min standby the graph only advanced 15sec, so the time out of standby is minimal.

haha yes sad to say last night was short, head hit the pillow at 2am and was up at 6am
but thanks for replying
so like i said i have my emails downloaded every 15mins, could this stop my device going into standby??
i used to have it set up through gmail but with the bad battery time i thought i would try outlook, tried push which got them instantly but that was a shorter battery so now i am trying through outlook but every 15mins like i had before, but still just as bad!!
on all the logs i have done when i press my power key so my screen goes off and i do not touch my phone my mAh just never stays low, sometime over 200+mAh with the screen turned off so my battery just dies in 10hrs!!
as far as i know from the apps in task manager and the processes all i have running is my mail and the needed system processes so i am struggling, i would kill for it to last 24hrs and i never thought i would say that because that is still short i think!!
another 1350 extended battery on its way but i think no matter what battery i have if the phone is using upto 200+mAh in standby then it will just drain it too
please help as i am stuck now
I'd try getting rid of the programs that run (shakeandsave and possibly wmlonglife, one at a time).
If it still fails... well, reflash another ROM with the recommended radio, with prior mtty erase, then a good hard reset after flashing (read the flashing tutorials for those), and try again without installing any program.
Push should use less power as it only turns on and transfers data if needed, not every 15mins for nothing.
I run with data, wifi and push active 24/7, and a 8hr night only eats me 5-10% of battery.

Thanks for that great set of advice
not wanting to sound like a school yard kid being a copy cat but 5-10% sounds great to me, dont suppose i could know what ROM and Radio your running so i could try your setup....please!!!!!
thanks for all your help
Check my signature, the ROM already contains the appropriate radio and it works fine at least where I am.
Since your advice on removing WMlonglife i have a question
that app used to disconnect my internet connection when i finish with the internet or when it checked me email
but now because i do not have the app when i click the top bar on my home page it shows my internet connection and battery and always at the side of the top bar is the clock ticking away saying i have been connected for 13hours and increasing, now yes i have a unlimited internet kind of, its meant to be unlimited but they said its a 3GB limit and when i go over 3GB they will just decrease my internet speed, so i have no problem with it being connected all the time but wont that use my battery????
Nope, being connected all the time has no drawback that I could notice. And as you said they'll bother you if you transfer more than 3GB, time doesn't count.

Excellent, then i will let the time tick away since its not downloading anything unelss its fetching an actual email
in that case it looks like the problem for me was WMlonglife which is crazy since its an app to make battery life longer it did the opposite for me
i unplugged my phone from a full night charge at about 9am and now its nearly 4pm and i am on 88% with push email on and about an hours music and changing setting ang general going through the phone and replying to about 12 emails so far which i have recieved since taking my phone off charge!!
also 3G but no BT or wifi running!
if this keeps up i will easily get through a full day and now i have 2 batteries i think all is good
so thank you, thanks for the fast replies and all your help!!
Christopher
Great, your battery life is even better than mine now
Alright, I've been having this re-occuring problem for a while now. It does NOT matter what ROM I use, it happens on them all so far (DC, Fresh, Aloysius, Regaw, etc). Let me go over exactly what has been going on.
When I wipe everything and flash a new ROM, the phone does everything as it should. It sleeps like it is supposed to and a fully charged battery will last a very long time.
For some reason there comes a point (a day or two after flashing) where I notice the battery dropping faster, and I notice that my awake time is the same as my up time. I've used "Battery Use" and "Spare Parts" in order to try and locate any possible problem.. nothing is showing. The only thing I know is that when the problem starts: Spare Parts -> Other Usage, shows Running @ 100% and when I click on "Running" It says the phone went (however long) without sleep.
Last night I wiped everything and flashed Aloysius 2.0.2.. I decided to monitor it more closely and chose to NOT install ANY apps, just to see if the problem happens. So the phone was sleeping properly all night. I went to sleep and chose NOT to charge it, because it seemed like the problems started when I charged it or plugged it into PC. So I left it unplugged all night. I woke up and saw that it slept the entire night as it should.
I was messing with the phone, couple of emails, couple of text messages, a few phone calls. The phone was at about 14 hours of uptime and 1 hour awake at this point. When I finished with just some calls and text, I left the phone alone while I went outside to do some things. I came back and checked the uptime.. 18 hours and awake time 5.. Phone refused to sleep again.
I shut the phone down, took the battery out for 60 seconds, put battery back in, put cover on, booted phone back up ("power cycling"). Phone has been on for 5 hours now with an awake time of 5 hours. I can't find anything unusual in battery use nor spare parts again. Now the "Other usage" in "spare parts" shows "Running" as 100% with no sleep time, but I can't figure out what is causing it to be constantly "running". I've even gone as far as to shut off all background data, syncing, locations, and even evdo all together. I have tried so many thing and can't figure out why ONLY a WIPE+flash fixes this temporarily?
Sorry for the extremely long post, but does anyone have any ideas or experience similar problems?
have you tried giving your phone some sleeping pills?

You aren't running a2sd are you? You're sure that your apps aren't just getting reinstalled after a restore because they are actually stored on sd:ext?
I had this problem. The 1.5 release was supposed to fix the problem. It was the dialer running at 100%. Didn't fix it for me. Talked to HTC and they said the problem still exists sometimes. But I had to exchange my phone and the new one has never done that. I think they had some bad phones. If you can't figure it out get your phone replaced.
Sorry I should have mentioned, I forgot. I used to run Apps2SD. I thought that may have been the culprit, so I partitioned my SD card again.
With the latest wipe, I partitioned my SD card with 0 ext and 0 swap, all fat. So no apps2SD now. With the partition was a complete format, so there was NO data on the SD card to restore from. My restore data is on my PC only and I haven't used it.
Edit: Also, I have a minimum of 4 out of 6 bars at all times. 0% TWS

Reboot sometimes fixed it but them it was only temporary. If I remember right it started the always awake again sometime between 12-24 hours after the reboot.

I've been having the same issue with the new 2.1 ROMS as well, for some reason, only a fresh wipe will "temporarliy" solve the issue and after a day or so, 100% awake time, with no apps installed nor A2SD running.
I had the problem. Ended up being Slacker. I have to remember to use the "Exit" button of Slacker or else it never goes to sleep.
What worked for me
Was I would open up Advanced Task Killer, then go to the services tab and hit end all several times. I would keep doing this until the awake time began to drop. Problem was whenever I restarted the phone it would return to the way it was, but after doing this at least half a dozen times it drops the awake time on its own after a restart, so now the awake time hovers at about 6-8% which I think is pretty dern good from 100%.
so
1. Go to ATK (or dw if you dont have)
2. Go To services tab
3.hit "end all"
4. Repeat about 5 times
5. Press the power button to make phone sleep
6. Wake phone back up check awake time in setting
7. Repeat if necessary
also if you have problems dl from the marketplace afterwards, just sign into google talk, and that will set things right.
also your phone will restart all your services every time you end them, so dont be alarmed if you lose your signal and internets for a second or two
i dont know why this worked but it did for me at least
Make sure "GSD.apk" is missing from /system/app. That tends to suck the battery up rather quickly.

Well, After some testing, it appears that my 100% awake BS always starts when I use the dialer and make a call. I got it to go into psycho 100% mode again, even after reboot. I've tried ending all services in the past but I wasn't persistent enough apparently, lol.
At first I tried ending services once, didn't help. Then I went crazy and constantly killed the services over and over for a solid 30-40 second as they opened up again. Eventually I killed ATK and let it sleep, it actually sleeps again.
So... some weird problem with my dialer/phone app (no matter the rom) but at least I found a solution! Thanks amallama.
I think you are simply having a problem with badly programmed apps. It sounds especially suspect that this is happening to you regardless of what rom you are on. Have you installed anything new recently? in the past week I've run into a few apps that have prevented my phone from sleeping (awake time ~89% after 12 hours of uptime).
I deleted fandango and gigbox and awake time and battery life went right back to normal.
Ok, this may sound a little bit strange, but once, maybe twice a day, I see a long bar on the Awake status in the Battery Use screen, indicating that something is keeping the phone awake for some time, usually a couple of hours.
Straight example:
I charged my phone to 100% on 8 April, around 22:30.
It's 10 April, 14:35 now, so it's on for about 1d 16h.
It still has 26%, with screen brightness set at 10%.
The alarm was set to 9:00 on 10 April.
Usage statistics:
- Display 28% (2h 16m)
- Cell Standby 22% (1d 15h 44m)
- Android System 17% (51m keep awake)
- Phone Idle 9% (1d 13h 28m)
- Android OS 5%
- OS Monitor 5%
- Voice calls 4% (7m 24s)
- Google Services 3% (16m keep awake)
- Google Search 2%(12m keep awake)
- Launcher PRO 2%
On the battery graph, I clearly see the flat line part of the last night (10 April, 00:00 till 10 April, 9:00), where I was asleep, indicating that there was no awake state, and the battery wasn't drawn of power.
But, because I was to lazy to get up when the alarm rang at 9:00, I consecutively put it to snooze about 8-10 times. That meant from 9:00 till ~10:30. After the last time on snooze, I completely turned the alarm off. I got up at 13:30 (yea, I know, I was kinda of lazy today).
Well, the problem consists in the fact that, even after 10:30, when I shut the alarm down for good, it was still awake. The awake bar in the graph points from the first time I put it on snooze till when I got up. That means from 9:00 to 13:30.
I installed OS Monitor from the Market and analyzed the logs. Indeed, from 13:15 till 13:30, the wakeup wake lock was triggered about 15 times only for alarm. So, the process was still on, even after i turned it off. What gives ?
Is it normal to even stay awake after snooze ? Can't it just wake up right when the snooze time ends ? I can't believe that it really needs to stay on all the time. And what about AFTER I turned it off ? Why the hell does it need to stay awake then !?!?
It's so unbelievable, that I actually don't think it's something Google-related (Android code fail, I mean), maybe something to do with MY phone in particular, though that would be stupid as well, I know. So what the hell is going on here ?
PS: Oh, I almost forgot. It's not only the alarm. One night it started to stay in awake mode from ~01:00 midnight till 10:00 in the morning. Unfortunately, I didn't have OS Monitor installed then. But I can give you another 7 processes that bust the wake up, besides alarm. Those would be the following: mmc_delayed_work, gpio_input, modem_fmt, modem_ip_rx, KeyEvents, PowerManagerService, max8998-charger (WTF IS THIS !>!>!>>!>!?!>!>!!?!?!?!?)
PPS: About the battery, I think it's faulty, because I have barely used it in the last 1d 16h and it has 26% left. What do you think ?
Dont think its a faulty battery. I get 17-18hrs n I use the hell outta my phone (200-500 text/day, gtalk, twitter, reading news articles, a couple YouTube videos n maybe a phone call or 2...)
Yea, well... if I send 200-500 text/say + gtalk + etc. etc. those 1d 16h would drop to about 8-10h. Compare that to your 17-18h. It's not really good now, is it ?
What's your screen brightness and how long does your screen stay up ?
Well, I have an update for 1 process from the list of 7:
gpio_input, is a process that handles physical buttons. To be more precise, every time you press the power button to wake up the device, the process is being activated.
Furthermore, after I pressed 2 times Volume Up + 1 time Volume Down + Power button, with a total of 4 button presses, it would fire up 4 distinctive gpio_input processes. So, for every physical button pressed, another process would fire up.
So no need to worry about this one. Let's see the others. The alarm one is still present all over the freaking place !
PS: Forgot to mention something: the always-awake state has gone sometime during the day. I think it was right after I did a restart. Dunno why... it just ended. Pff.
I think this is a bug because I see it on my nexus one too. Over night I'll see solid line for hours showing my phone woke up. But interestingly no battery drain happens, its just reported as being awake.

Exactly.
As for the battery, I've calculated my usage of 3G talk-time (10 mins of talk time on my phone representing 4% of battery), compared to the official stated talk-time (of 400 mins):
Oficial:
400mins = 100%
10 mins = x%
x = 2.5% from the total battery level (x represents how much % of battery level should 10mins of 3G talk eat juice, after Google standards)
Real stats:
10 min = 4% out of 95% battery level
Phone = 4/100*95= 3.4% from the TOTAL 100% battery
y mins = 100%
10 mins = 3.4%
y = 1000/3.4 = 294mins ~= 300mins REAL TALK TIME
So, after calculations, it seems that for MY phone, the 3G talk time is actually 300mins, not 400 as Google states. That's an argument for WHY I actually believe my battery sucks. Well, it doesn't TOTALLY suck, as some of your batteries here on the forum... but it is indeed below the standard. Isn't it ?
Yep, it happened again. No problems during the night, but in the morning, when the alarm started, the always awake state has begun. It now shows a long blue bar that spans for about 3-4 hours. What is peculiar is that the wake lock alarm is on during the hole day, even if the alarm is completely off.
LE: Surprisingly, after a restart, it would sleep normally. I can't think of any other possibility besides the alarm (I mean, if you put the alarm to snooze, it will keep your phone in permanent awake state onwards from that point.)
What is even more interesting, is that you don't need to restart the device to finally put it back to sleep, as I stated above. I've charged it to max and the always-awake state was gone. Interesting, isn't it ? Guess it's just a glitch... If, somehow, someone knows the answer to this, I would gladly listen to it. Until then, well... I guess I'll just forget about it and never bother again. Hope you guys don't have problems with this and/or something similar. Cheers !
I have the same on Acer Liquid Metal.
Any remedy foud?
Tried to track down with aLog, but useless
I'm not quite sure... but I think maybe Maps is the cause. Again, I'm not sure at all, I'm just seeking a pattern every day I use it, and this far, Maps has been the best bet for this glitch. Can you confirm that ?
LE: Forgot. The remedy is, well... just go to Task Manager and stop the app.
Also, I have seen 3 instances of this process:
- com.google.android.apps.maps
- com.google.android.apps.maps:NetworkLocationService (I think this one is the problem)
- com.google.android.apps.maps:Friends (or something like this; and wondered what the hell it is for...)
For me the culprit is definitely maps. And that effect is doubled when I'm signed in to latitude. Just by signing out of latitude I can double my battery life and by disabling "wireless networks" in the location settings my battery life can be tripled! There is something really wrong with the maps app here.

Thanks a lot for the input, really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I don't use Latitude, so I can't confirm that part. Neither the wireless networks part, I haven't notice that before... but I'll see what I can come up with.
Still searching what to stop
All you said was already deleted/frozen but problem persist
Hey guys can you take a look at the following attachments below. The first pic shows that I have 55% battery left after 15 hours. However, on the second attachment the Screen on its only around 1 hour and 26 minutes and that awake time is around 3 hours and 40 minutes. I said to myself "hey maybe there were lots of wake locks. So I checked and there was no unusual wake lock in the partial wake lock section and there was even no kernel wake lock indicated .
So the thing is, I didn't use my phone that much today (only a cumulative of 1 hour and 26 minutes but it used half of my battery and awake time is too big but BBS wake locks does not indicate the culprit for keeping my phone awake for such a long duration of 3 hours and more. What seems to be the problem? Thanks guys!
