Does anyone know of a good parts source? - G1 General

Have any of you seen or heard of a good parts source? I am looking for three digitizers, and the flexible ribbon cables that connect the screen to the mainboard on the G1. I have looked around a bit, but they seem to be out of stock wherever i find them. I would appreciate any leads at this point. You would think that, as many broken screens as there are, you could find them pretty easily. Thanks in advance.

I have fixed plenty of devices:g1,magic,dash,wing,iphone 3g,touch pro 2..etc. anyways the best and cheapest place 2 get parts is<drumroll plz> ebay!

Sure, if you don't mind having to fight with the vendor and then waiting at least a month for paypal to refund you....

Try www.cnn.cn.

I have had way too many bad experiences on ebay. I used to be a die hard bidder, but sadly have been shafted so many times I can't walk right if you know what I mean.

cellulardr.com has a lot of G1 parts, and cheaper than cnn.cn

7501 replacement keyboard?

Hey guys -
I just picked up one of these interesting devices at CompUSA's firesale, and it is in good condition, but for one thing - it seems like the KB was dropped and has a small dent. Now, it is totally cosmetic, but something I would like to eventually fix (cost permitting).
I have done some searching, but haven't found anything about a replacement part. Anyone have any experience with this?
I haven't seen one mention of a replacement keyboard, but replacement cases for the main unit are available online. Have you tried calling HTC?
i saw a replacement dopod k/b for 150 usd.. cant remember where, just came up through extensive googling for a replacement body

I agree, call HTC, they are usually pretty good about sorting out this sort of thing.

I saw your post and took a quick gander myself. I did find the Dopod version; only complaint is it is silver and not black..

But, it is an option if HTC can't help (going to be calling in a few; lunch break.
I will let you know know what they say. Thanks!
Well, thanks for the advice guys, but THC was a no-go. I called both the general support number, and the warrenty/repair number given to me by support, and came up short both ways. They flat out said they don't sell the part alone, and that she (nice lady at least) did not know where i could look. I guess i may consider the dopod version as backup; thankfully, this is a fully usable unit even without the keyboard; I will just have to be careful as it could scratch my body; something I don't want...
Just out of curiosity, which store did you get it from?

for the amount a replacement will cost you might be as well to send back your cosmetically damaged one and buy a new athena elsewhere.
Many of us prefer to use the device without the keyboard. Some may be willing to sell it or swap with you for a reasonable price perhaps?

Depends on the price, but sure, I would entertain offers.

Looking for a replacement digitizer.

Doesnt look like cnn.cn stocks any parts yet. Anyone else find any stores carrying replacement parts.
Here's a site but the only problem is that you have to buy a minimum of 3 in order to get one globaldirectparts.com/T-mobile-MyTouch-3G-Slide-Digitizer-p/htc739590.htm but like me I need one too so who knows maybe we can get more of us to break our screens and we can all chip in.

Well, you guys are 2. Buy 3 and you can probably pawn one off on ebay.
I have spoke to globaldirectparts and right now the digitizers ship from china, also seemed very helpfull. But I got one from ebay which is shipping from Cal.
Have to say globaldirectparts have some great prices, but I needed it quicker then china shipping.
Now if i can only find a disassembly video or procedure...
Well if you find a way to disassemble it and get it back together without cracking
the lcd then please post as this could help everyone here who might need to
replace the digitizer at some point plus it would just be a bonus to see how it's
done.
I replaced the digitizer last night only to find out the new one does not work, so I'm back to the cracked one again.. ;(
GadgetFix is going to send me another one and do have to say they have great customer support!
See my disassembly post at.

Getting my screen replaced in Europe

Hi all!
I managed to crack the digitizer of my HD2 some while back. It's working but I'd like to have it replaced, and I really think I'll screw it up if I try it myself. However, the official HTC repair service here in Norway wants the equivalent of 370€ to do it, and most unofficial ones are only slightly under that price.
I'm wondering if you know of any reliable repair services elsewhere in Europe would be cheaper, and in that case, which ones?
I've seen digitizers & glass being sold online, but they say it's pretty hard to separete from the LCD.
There are also complete sets of displays for hd2, LCD+digitizer+glass going for around 85$ or more.

Indeed, but I want to avoid replacing it myself, just not at any price.
quick consideration: I bought my hd2, second hand, for 440€ in february. Up to a 200€ expense for repairs (lower than which I think it would be really hard to find anything) I would seriously consider buying ANOTHER hd2 which now, being almost august, maybe can be found for less than 350€. I am not following the market.
At thjat point you could sell yours as defective for 200€ and still have paied 150€, lower than repairs
Thanks for the tip, that's not a bad idea at all..
However these guys says they'll fix it for 150£, so I think I'll just take a vacation in London and pay them a visit while I'm at it.

[Q] Trusted phone repair community

HI,
I'm looking for a good community of phone repair since a long time but I can't get to find a good one.
i'm talking about physical repair. Like the screen or the audio jack, things like that. How to do it and mostly where to buy trusted parts.
I'm repairing phone since a couple of years now and I always take the cheapest part on ebay and most of the time, it work perfectly but I'm interested to heard about other people who are not cheap chinese part reseller themselves I you know what I mean.
So is there such a sub forum on xda for this or somewhere else?
Thx a lot

I have not personally repaired a phone, but I know a lot of people that go to you tube and look up how to repair phones. You can contact the manufacturer to see if they can sell you the parts, you will know for sure that the part isn't a cheap knock off. Or you can try the eBay and amazon reviews for more info on the products.

I actually repair devices for a living and our trusted supplier for almost everything is www.mobilesentrix.com or another decent one is gadgetfix.com. You get what you pay for when it comes to cheap parts. Most will be faulty when you get them, or shortly thereafter. When buying from Ebay, always look for a top rated seller with a good return policy.
Edit:
There's a member led section for device repair here:

10 Dollar Generic Dome Glass Kit- With a catch

This item is being sold illegally whitestone will be taking legal action against the factory. They hold a patent on this UV glue kit.
+1 for being interested.
Also interested, as someone who has spent so much money buying whitestone's for S8's and Note 8's in my family

Not yet, I need to test the cases first.. The S9 is cut differently then the S8. I should have the phone next week and will be testing as many Cass as I can.. I'll have a guide up for it... I would do it here... But people seem to want to accuse me. Of trying to sell stuff.. Which I'm. Not.. Just asked if anyone was interested in going on on a bulk order with me.

Well, I am interested but will they ship 10 packages to ten different locations? Or you will ship them once you get them? If you will do it than obviously the shipping cost above the product price, I am in UAE so I don't know how much will it cost to ship this from your country.
I would also be interested

have you received the product yet? Well considering no one has yet got a s9+ it's hard to test
Very interesting, probably made in the same factory. Only crappy thing about ordering stuff from alibaba is sometimes the shipping is on a very very slow boat from China
+1 on saving $30-40 . . .

It is, just confirmed with whitestone.. Apparently they have a patent on it... So someone might be in trouble? I doubt it tho.. I mean. China stole stealth tech from the US and.nothing happened lol
Would be interested
Yes defo interested. Even this is cheaper than Whitedome. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...rotector-with-Install-Kit-UV/32848566938.html
Been in contact with the seller, whitestone can't sue them one bit lol... they are not selling in US or through a US resell channel. Their glue is also "patented" so I will see how good it is after I get my first one.
Did you order yet? I am interested as well. I am in NY.
There are other sellers on alibaba which are selling the same thing, I have asked a few of them if they can ship 1 or 2 items instead of 10 as samples or something, lets see if this will work or not.
Purchased and received my dome protector today, just installed it with no problems. Im a First time user and I'm surprised how easy it went. I carnt see how they justify the price tho. And surely they could at least sell just the glass and liquid for a good price as a replacement kit is still expensive.

Whitestone has sold it for so much because no one else has had it - with the knock off coming out of china now, well, Whitetone may have to come down in price to remain competitive - I guess it all depends on the quality of the new one - and whether Whitestone does have a claim for patent infringement and even if they do if they can really do anything about it. They wouldn't be the first ones to have their product ripped off and sold cheap out of China - happens all the time - Personally, I won't buy products like that. Just on Principle. (look at the ad on Alibaba from the link that was posted - it looks exactly like the Whitestone Dome Glass.
