Is my Titan dying? - Mogul, XV6800 General

At the time I was running radio 3.42.50 and dcd 3.2.6
Currently same radio but dcd 4.12
A couple of days ago my Titan would lose ear volumn. Speaker rings would work however no volumn in ear. I reset phone and all was ok again.
Yesterday I lost ear volumn and so reset phone however instead of booting the OS the tri-color screen bootloader showed up.
I tried many things and finally found out that with a usb plugged in, that's either power or connected to pc, and push rest the phone will boot normally most times. I've run through several roms on this unit and this is the only time I've seen this type of behaviour.
Does a pro out there have any idea what may be happening?
Once it boots the phone seems to work fine.

It is the beginning of a hardware failure. Time for a replacement.

Thanks for the quick reply. Why would it reset normally with power applied and not when power isn't applied? Is it possible that the battery might be going? It seems to hold the chanrge pretty well never had any issue with that.

Because the hardware is failing.

Moving to Titan general as this is not an upgrading matter.
I would check, with a magnifying glass, that there are no crossed (or nearly touching pins in the USB port. This could explain BOTH the lack of earpiece volume and the failure to boot properly.
random volume can have a simple explanation also if the spring contact pins on the earpiece speaker are losing contact with the motherboard. (However this would not be affected by the ROM you have installed - it would show randomly irrespective of the ROM.)
If when you lose volume, you tap the phone near the earpiece and the volume comes back, then it is very likely the speaker cotacts need tweaked out a little. (Not an uncommon problem).

JAM does not turn off after being turned off

If I check in "Settings-System-Power-Advanced-On battery power" to turn my JAM off if it is not used for some time (e.g. 3 minutes), it goes off and then I can not turn it on. I tried to push/hold power button, nothing helped but soft reset. If I turn my JAM off manually by pushing power button I can turn it back on manually too. But after 3 or 4 times it acts just like it was turned off automatically, i.e. iregardless if I push or hold power or any button, LED flashes green and the phone does not turn on. The worst part of it is after I push Power button trying to turn my JAM on and LED indicator starts flashing green (and JAM still remains off) if somebody tries to call me he hears the signal as if my phone is ringing (not busy signal or "The number you dial is not available right now" etc.)
Does anybody know what the problem can be? I've got this problem even after hard reset with no third-party applications installed.
non functioning of on/off switch
Check the connectors of your battery on the inside of the JAM. I had the same problem and I found out that one of the connectors did not really "touch" the battery.
I checked it. The contacts on the battery look like they were scratched by contacts on the phone, so I'd think the connectors are in good contact. I even tried to put a small piece of paper between the battery and phone bodyon the left side to make sure it is really pushed to another side, it did not help either
JAM does not turn on after being turned off
Did anyone ever find out the answer to this??! I have the same problem with mine except it's a bit random - mostly doesn't turn back on again after an auto power off for a long(ish) period of time - like at night.
sounds like a possible fault is occurring. Best thing is to do a full backup of your system and then do a hard reset your device and see if the same thing is still happening. If it is, try the positioning of battery as suggested in earlier posts and if still happening, then a handheld service is required

Mystery input problem

My M700 (orange rom, new radio rom) is having problems with the buttons (or is it?)
Basically, I noticed things were happening without me pressing buttons, occasionally (like when Im in a phone call) it will flash up that I cannot put this call on hold (though I didnt try to)- or when I'm in GPS (TomTom) it occasionally goes back to the options screen without me pressing anything.
I also noticed that occasionally the scroll wheel wont work on the side, and if i press the memo button opposite, it goes to the "realign my screen" program (which happens when you press them both together) but then it works normally again
Finally the little directional pad at the bottom has stopped working sometimes (including the button in the middle, but not the buttons surrounding them ie ok, windows hang up, make a call etc) -
Anyway - it seems to me like either there is a software problem, or that one of the buttons is being activated continuously, possibly by dirt, which might explain the intermittent nature of the fault.
Does anybody have any similar experience?
And...
What should I do - look at potential software problems, or hardware - (Im thinking hardware) should I take it to bits and clean it?
Thanks for reading my lengthy post, and I really appreciate any help from anyone, especially from people who've had this problem and fixed it
Update (2 mins later)
Whilst examining my pda, I dropped it onto the floor, and everything started working again - I'm beginning to think that its the silver button in the middle of the direction pad that is causing the fault, as when I hold it on it has all the same effects -
So, if this is the case, does anyone have any ideas, how to clean it easily? (if it is a hardware problem that is- it lives in my pocket and get pretty dusty so it could be)

Dead after fall

While talking with my headset, i accidentally pulled my S100 of the table (within a plastic case). It turned off, and now it will only do a bzt from the speaker when i press the power on button... removing battery didn't work... It will do the same thing even with the battery cover out or if try to enter bootloader mode or hard reset... any solution?
Just curious.. did you manage to get it fixed? If so, how?
I have a broken one as well (SPV M500, my daughter's first phone), which recently stopped responding altogether, and I am looking for some experiences to find out if it's fixable or not.
Thanks!

Has anyone solved front buttons not responding problem?

Hello, I have had this TYTN I for a long time without any major problems. It was originally with WM5 but then I upgraded to WM6. Lately I had a strange problem whereby the front buttons stop responding intermittently.
The below mentioned buttons stop working:
1. The Internet Explorer button.(Above on the right)
2. The Message button.(Above on the left)
3. The Call buttons. (The call picking and disconnecting button, below left and right) And the 4 keys along it.
During this time I have to resort to the pointer or the side wheel to use the phone, which is very frustrating.
If I press the reset button at the bottom, the keys work again for a few times, then stop to respond again.
I have tried to flash again with both WM5 and WM6 but did not help. I have opened the phone and reseated all connectors but did not help either. Do you think I should try replacing the ribbon cable?
I have searched the forum and found several threads with the same problem, but never a solution.
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.
I have been struggling the last few months with the same exact problem. Sometimes the buttons work other times they don't, and in the last couple of weeks the frequency of button failure has increased (every couple of minutes).
I found a few users yesterday over on the HTC forum who were having the same problem and 1 user who actually reported a fix that worked for him.
Go to Start/Settings/System/Key Lock and select "Do Not Lock Buttons". Exit Key Lock and soft reset your device. You may know return to the Key Lock options and re-select your choice (I used "Lock all buttons except Power button").
Worked for the HTC user and is working for me as I have had no button failure now in the last 24-hours with repeated use of the device.
I hope this works for you because if you are like me I getting very close to trashing the unit.
Hi,
the problem could be the Xilinx chip (a BGA chip) on the pcb underneath the buttons.
As the buttons are pressed the board is flexed and some of the solder pads under the xilinx chip must have become detached from the xilinx chip itself.
I had the white screen problem. An while i got the white screen the front buttons where not working too.
In the whte screen threat i found that it could be the Xilinx chip, and figured out when pressing on this chip the white screen was gone and the buttons where working.
So i resoldered (refloated) the chip with a heatgun and some liquid flux last Sunday and since then i had no problems anymore.
I would suggest disassembling the phone down to the pcb and try starting it on with the ribboncables connected while keep some pressure on the Xilinx chip. And then trying the buttons if they work.

I have the same problem with the same phone. The instructions above for "key lock" didn't fix it for me. I was assuming that it was hardware; but I just tried installing the Android port for this phone and under Android the buttons work fine.
I know that Android has some good stuff going for it, but I don't think it's awesome enough to circumvent a bad circuit... How exactly do these buttons work? Is there a process that should be running to handle them? Any other pointers?

[Q] hd2 hardware button light stuck on

so I just noticed the lights for my hardware buttons are stuck on, happens from the moment the phone turns on, and nothing changes it (though they seem to dim slightly) I've tried reflashing the phone (using mdj cyanogen 2.7, nand with magldr 1.12)
I tried searching and havent seen anything like this. Only thing I can think is maybe it got a little wet(?) while I was recording video during a snow storm here, but nothing else seemed wrong, just got home and noticed it. Any ideas?
I have the exact same problem. I've flashed back to the original windows mobile rom and the problem is still there! I've searched and yet to find the solution. Anyone got any ideas?
Check to see if you have a voicemail - you may have read it but closed VM before listening to all the message, it can on occasions do this - it I'm right just ring your phone leave a fresh VM then go into VM and listen to the whole message
Thanks for the reply, but no dice on this one. I tried the voicemail thing and I have no voicemails.
To clarify it's the bottom 5 buttons (call, home, windows, back and power) that are constantly lit up. Even when the phone goes on standby those buttons stay lit. I'm looking to see if there's an app that can just shut them off.
I got the same problem. My hd2 got some water on it and the problem started. The hardware keys now getting dim but not getting completely off. There is no other problem
Please help.
same problem on my father htc click

Thanks, I will try the rom.
But do u really think its a rom problem ? The keys light were working fine before the water hazard in the same existing rom. Besides the problem is also there when u are in the boot menu of MAGLDR or Clockwork menu.
any updates from anyone? On miy HD2 the vol up, start, back & end call key don't respond to any presses but seem to be active. Calls will randomly end, vol up acts as if the button is kept pressed!
Help!
Hi guys,
A little bump in this thread, but is there already found a solution for this problem?
After a hard reset and replacing the digitizer of my htc HD2, the buttonlights remain on. Even when the phone gets in standby mode.
I'm using cyanogenmod 7. (bought it like this. Didn't put android on it myself)
After the hard reset and digitizer replacement there also came another problem.
When pushing the windows logo (key 158) the volume up button also reacts (key 115). Thesame problem occurs when pushing the dial button. With that key (231), key 114 (volume down) reacts.
So when i want to open a menu or make a call the volume goes up or down.
Do you guys think I screwed something up when replacing my digitizer or is it just an software issue caused by the hard reset?
All right guys, it was an hardware failure.
I reopened my htc and checked all the connectors and (re)placed some of the yellow tape. After the reassembly, my phone just works as it should. All problems are solved.
My HTC HD2 also got the keys stuck after only a week of use. T-Mobile is sending me a replacement phone today.
Is this a common problem? I'm afraid it may happen again.
Hey guys I'm having same issue. Going to try opening up and check connectors.
