Hi, i came across this article about the dangers of flashing roms in another website. It is just for your own information, I believe that if we are careful when we flash any roms, we would be safe from predators who are out to steal our personal data.
Here is the article:http://sg.codeandroid.org/2009/10/13/hack-in-the-box-coverage-dangers-of-customized-android-roms-and-malware/

Can we get all the "deaths", "bootloaders" and "fixes" threads together?
Hello,
Sorry for the new topic, I know there are already lots of them about these Death and Bootloader subjects. But I believe under this topic we can document the usefull actions (like how to use triangle away after the new bootloader, "if" we can) so it could guide people in my position.
I believe there are many who cunfused like me and not know what to do in the future if they wanted to use their phones in a way Samsung deos not intented to. So if we can put some Answers here for every scenerio I think it will be usefull for everyone.
Because the actual usefull informations are getting harder to find among all the new threads coming under the actual topics.
So the first thing; there are 3 problems;
1) There is a security breach on the Exynos devices (not a big deal)
2) There is Sudden Death situation for the 16Gb international phones (big deal)
3) There is a new bootloader arrived but it also updates the security against resetting the flash counter as well as fixing the first 2 problems.
Correct me if I am wrong so far. If I am not, going on:
Scenario 1) This new bootloader is the 3rd bootloader released for SGS3 and somehow there is no going back once we flash this? Is this correct? Or are there methods to revert back to old bootloaders?
Scenario 2) If we want to use or phones as stock as much it is then we can just flash the new firmware and we are up2date with the bootloaders too right? But what if I have phone with "TUR" CSC and there is no update yet? Do I have to flash the brand new ROM first than, wipe through CSC changer and than flash the TUR ROM again? Will my fix be applied like this?
Scenario 3) What are the rules to fully benefit from Triangle Away?
Sub-scenario A) what is the path to follow only for Stock + root
Sub-scenario B) what is the path to follow for Stock+ Root + CWM
Sub-scenario C) what is the path to follow for Custom ROM (or CM 10.x) + root + CWM(to flash the custom ROM)
And is there a sub-scenario among them that we have to keep away from the new bootloaders if we want to participate in?
Are there any other scenarios to use our phones?
Since there is no OP updates to answer these questions I believe this topic could be a good guide for cunfused people. I will edit and add the aswers to the OP as they come.
Thanks.

Hi Yeroslav,
Seems like you're new to custom romming and rooting. There are roms here in the development forums with "HALO" in their topic header. These are the roms that you may want.
Rooting and romming has it's risks (soft bricking/ hard bricking etc.) and puts you at risk of various problems unless you know how to solve them when they arise ( bootloop. network errors) , so maybe you want to google it before you begin anything. (We're all doing it, so it's low risk, unless you do something majorly wrong like flashing a rom for a different phone model)
Also, when referring to forums here, you first need to check your GS4 model if it's I9505 or I9500, commonly found when you first boot your phone. Once you've obtained the model number do look in the relevant forums (Android development/original android development) for rooting and custom romming methods. (As mentioned before, flashing roms for a different model can result in bricking, so do check your GS4 model before you start anything).
I'll keep this instructions brief (Just google what you don't know).
1. Get root by flashing rooted (stock?) roms through odin.
2. Get a custom recovery by flashing Clockworkmod(CWM) or Team Win Recovery Project(TWRP).
3. Find out how to use CWM/TWRP
*Check the forums and use the search feature to get your way around. Any kind XDA member would continue elaborating on my brief instructions, do go ahead.
Happy flashing!
Cheers.
Hello all, flashed v28 of Omega rom (4.4.2) way back to my t-mobile galaxy s4 (sgh-m919? Device model shows i9505 but device name is still sgh-m919 and I bought it from t-mobile). In the past I've done this a few times, usually from stock phones, but it has been a while since I've done this and I've never made a major upgrade to a newer ROM. Im a bit hesitant to do this on my own without first posting as I hardly remember what I flashed to my S4 the first time around other than the Omega ROM, and I haven't been keeping up with S4 development at all since then, so I'm unsure of whether or not I can simply wipe and install v41 of Omega (current ROM has started being wonky, various things becoming unstable, cannot connect to camera, etc). I was reading the thread and there was enough talk of kernels, custom boot loaders, and other things that I just felt confused and decided to seek the wisdom of the forum before proceeding. But, I am correct in assuming that this ROM which carries i9505 in the title thread can be flashed to my device yes? If I recall correctly that is what I did before.
If anyone can advise me, caution me, or otherwise inform me, that would be very, very helpful,
Thanks.
First thing which you need to do is move this post to the general section

Ah, you're right. Had the wrong browser window open. If a moderator kindly would?
I already reported the thread, so the mods will see it, evaluate things, then move the thread to its proper location. Moderators are unlikely to see requests to move the thread nor comments from others that the thread needs to be moved. Report the post rather than wasting time posting about it.
Thanks for the explanation and thanks to the mods for the move, its obvious I don't post on this forum much.
Back to the topic at hand, anyone care to comment? Anything I need to do?
Specific help for your T-mobile device can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile as this is the international S4 forum. In general, you should be able to use any ROM from this forum, provided it does not flash a bootloader or modem. Most don't. The only wrinkle I can think of is that if a ROM uses a custom kernel, your device may reject that kernel. Thus you should look at the link I provided and see if there is a custom kernel for your S4 that you can flash after flashing the ROM.
Needless to say, make sure you do a factory reset in recovery to wipe out any lingering problems Omega ROM may have caused.
I may have flashed a modem previously when I originally flashed Omega ROM. If so, will this cause a problem? I'll take a look at the other forum, thanks.
I am new to Flashing Android phones and I hope someone can help me through this process. I am technical by nature but like everything else, if you have never done something before, it's always best to consult with those who have as to not brick your phone.
I have a Samsung S4 model number SPH-L720. This was purchased from Freedom Pop so it is technically their own custom ROM on the Sprint network. I later found out that their service is horrible and want to reflash my phone to a standard factory ROM, either a factory Sprint Rom or a Factory Google S4 (Non Carrier Specific) Rom.
The phone currently has Android Version 4.4.2 but I am flexible which version OS is on there.
I am confident with all the experts on this forum, someone can lead me through this process and let me know where to get the ROM's to put on here etc.
The phone already is rooted as it comes from Freedom Pop Rooted already.
Thank you all for your assistance. I will be sure to assist others in the process once I learn it myself.
I'm not a professional, but I might be able to help.... I'll try anyway
You mentioned being fine with returning to the stock ROM. Under normal circumstances that would be pretty complicated because you would need to install using ODIN and re-root afterwards. However, assuming you are running a custom recovery you should be able to install a zip from galaxys4root DOT COM, under the "galaxy s4 rooted stock roms" tab. These ROMs are all stock ROMs that are already rooted and may have a tweak or two. I recommend checking out the ROMs on that site, until you find what your looking for.
The following article should be helpful for installation via custom recovery: highonandroid DOT COM /android-roms/how-to-install-custom-rom-using-twrp-recovery-failproof-method
As I am a newbie on this forum I cannot post links, so please replace DOTCOM with appropriate extensions. Again, I'm not a professional, in fact, this is the first time I've attempted to give any advice yet so I apologize if I am lacking clarity. If I use any terms that don't make a lot of sense to you, feel free to ask any questions and I will attempt to respond in a timely manner.
Not sure how to efficiently help people when I am unable to use links. So I'm sorry if this offends any XDA mods. And I hope that any mods who read my reply will take into account that I am not spamming. I am trying to help.
Any luck?

The last characters in the version designations are basically alphabetical, the order of which you can see here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-G900V
With BOE1 and up, the bootloader was locked which prevents a downgrade.
