Persistent Calendar Reminders - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I've posted a request for a tool / setting to help me with calendar reminders in other forums, but no luck. I have tried many shells to make my device more finger friendly and all of them leave me needing to tap the tiny little bell in the title bar to have calendar reminders displayed once they have become hidden.
I am using Mobile Shell now and love it. It has widgets for everything but calendar reminders. I'd love a widget that lights up or shows a count of reminders, but realize that will be difficult to get.
Since I won't get a widget, I'd appreciate any help with a tool, setting (registry or otherwise), or perhaps a mortscript that would simply keep the reminder window on top until I snooze or dismiss the reminder(s).
Thanks,
John

Bumping this to see any one can help. 88 views and no replies ;-(. Do you guys agree that this is indeed a problem that needs to be solved? I can do most things on the device without the stylus, but almost always need to use it to hit the darn bell.
Thanks
John

Threaded O2-SMS Working on Wizard (well on my 8125 at least)

Somebody cracked/hacked the OS SMS app and posted it over on PDAPhoneHome:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70428
It's working on my 8125 so far. It's kind of limited (all notifications and SMS related events still open the Outlook/Text Message app), but if you're having a conversation with one person it seems to work nicely.

i have been using this program and its great, i keep it minimized so when i get a text i just hit the icon and just use it for my sms. the only problem i have is i wish i didnt have to manually open the message so that the notification goes away. i have been looking for a reg hack that will still notify me via tone and vibration when a text comes in, but doesnt sit in the notification area. i aslo use pocketplus which allows you to preview texts and reply from them from the today screen, and right now im kind of torn between the two.
Hmmmm...I'm not using PocketPlus and I can also preview text messages and reply from the Today screen, are you sure that's not a WM5 attribute?
But you're right, it would be nice to have all the alerts, and default SMS handling go through this app, and I know there are some developers working on just that. But until then, this helps a bit.
I only use it when I get a message that I expect to turn into a conversation with lots of back and forth dialog. Most are ask/answer/done or just informational, but a few I get during my week I can pretty easily tell will involve several back and forth points. Other's text usage may not be so clear cut so this partial functionality is not good enough.

I am using the wizard and used the O2SMS programs for a few months. I often use the program to send to a group. I notice sometimes that while sending out to his group (1 by 1) the program will stop sending and close. Does anyone else have this issue..if not any suggestions to fix
thanks

I've used O2 SMS Plus also, but I must say that Palm Messaging is more, if not fully!, intergrated in the "system"
yes
i love palm messaging

Task notifications disappearing

Hi all,
I use to have a bunch of Outlook tasks with notifications to remind me of various things to do.
With my previous phone (HTC P3300), the notifications stayed there (until dismissed) whatever I did: reset the phone, move from an application to another, whatever. In the Today screen I always had the left soft key displaying "Reminder" indicating that I had some notifications active.
In my new HD2 this is not hte case any more. I am glad I am not wasting my left soft key just for the reminders, but the problem is that my notifications keep disappearing: if I reset the phone, they are gone. I got the habit of snoozing them before resetting, but this morning my 4 notifications were gone, even with no reset!
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround? Anyone knows what is purging the notifications?
Ciao,
Giovanni
I want to know this as well.
Also is there a app or a way to change the snooze time? For example, to remind me again in 1 hour, but more important notifications, in 10 min...
Hey, i had (have) the same problem. First of all please report this to HTC cos this is a BIG error. What i did is unable htc notification manager, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631449. That worked for me, also brings back the snooze option. Only problem now that the active reminders dont synx with my exchange or home outlook, but thats something i can live with. Good luck !!
i use the following three reg settings to tweak my notifications.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM\Reminder
change EnableAutoDismiss from 1 to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM
CustomUIDLL is probably set to NotificationLayout.dll
change it to anything else, (example NotificationLayout2.dll) basically a name that doesnt exist.
UseDefaultUI set to 0
Also, go to settings - menu - all settings - sounds and notifications - notifcations tab - in the dropdown choose 'reminders' and make sure 'show on screen' is checked.
hope these help.

How to: Add alarm and Open New SMS

Hello,
Q1) There are only 3 alarms available in Windows Mobile 6.5. Does anyone knows how to add more?
Q2) Also, I remember when i was using HTC Touch, when new SMS comes in, it appears on the screen and i was able to either 'hide' or 'open' the SMS. On HD2, when I set it to show new SMS, I can only hide it but I can't open it to read. Instead, I have to go through 'HTC Messages'. Does anyone knows how to have both options 'hide' (on the left) and 'open' (on the right) available when new SMS shows up?
Please see attached screenshots if I did not manage to explain well.
Appreciate all kind advice.
Many thanks in advance!
I've tries to add more entries in the registry to add more alarms, but apparently it doesn't work.
and I've no clue for the sms issue either.
does anyone have the same issues as me? any clues?
thanks.
galarm
i guess
indeed, I've read about all e good comments about it. in fact, I installed it 2 months ago, but I encountered problems like battery drains n missed alarms. I've since uninstalled. maybe this problem is not too common with other users, but it was a problem for me..
thanks for your suggestion though.
pTravel alarm?
Works well for me and no battery drain... also if you are on the lock screen you can tap the open widget then swipe the sms widget and it opens sms screen or if you tap on the task bar it will give you the list of things to look at and one of them is the messages screen...
For the SMS, why not just turn off on-screen notification. When you get an SMS you'll get the usual audio/vibrate alert, and an icon in the taskbar. You can then just click on the SMS tab icon at the bottom and you're looking at the SMS. 1 click and you're there.
For the alarm question... there's a registry setting for this, but I don't know what it is. If you use BsB Tweaks you can enable "Windows Notifications" mode which "Enables dismiss X time in notification". This is a crap description and I used to just ignore this option as it sounded completely uninteresting. Then I found out what it is.
With this enabled, you get the option to select a sleep time for an alarm when it's going off (see the attachment). I doubt my boss would be impressed if I chose the last option though
It will at least free up your second alarm as you could just snooze the first one for 10 minutes.
I am also interested in the being able to open an sms from the notification dialog...
On Q1: I've been using SPB Time since quite long time. The new edition 2.1.2 is really awesome. And it answers to your question
On Q2: When I receive sms I have sound + icon above on the taskbar. So if I click on the icon - "notification" window opens and after another click on new sms icon you see your sms. Just you pay one click more.

It would be nice if on the notification "balloon" you had a Reply button that would automatically open the thread where that sms is in...

indeed, i remember this option to open sms on notification used to be available in older wm versions. and we could also dismiss instead of hide the sms.

**NEW** SMS Problem

I recently bought a HTC HD2 and like the phone a lot. I have a problem with SMS and whenever I search for the problems with SMS they are all old and about lag which obviously was a big problem. Mine isn't as big of problem but is extremely annoying.
When I get a new message, whether on the lockscreen or not. If I use the navigation tabs to view the SMS (which you have to do from the lockscreen), I am 90% of the time directed to an older message in the conversation and not the NEW message. So then I have to scroll up to view the new message.
This is extremely annoying and I know I cant be the only one to have this problem, but it is definitely hard to search for this because it is hard to describe. Please someone help.
Also, would there be a way to go from the new SMS slider on the lockscreen directly to "All Messages" so you can bypass seeing the sms on the white sheet of paper and then having to click that to answer. Its a lot of steps for nothing.
same problem here, on Miri's ROM. it is annoying (as is the fact that when i start writing a text, after a couple of seconds the focus moves out of the text entry field, and hence i can't type any more without clicking in the field again.
not found a solution to either of these.
I've seen a thread about this yesterday I think
Anyway, just disable the SMS tab... If you do that, tapping the notification will open the Messaging application.
i suspect going to an old message from lockscreen is caused by the same thing that makes appointments stay on the lockscreen for a while after they have ended. basically the lockscreen controls poll the registry for the info that is displayed, but it doesn't update itcontinually.just now and then
I disabled the sms navigation tab and that seems to work better. The SMS app is still not as smooth as i would like it to be but what can you do...
Dear, This thread already posted. search for smstimestampfixer 1.3.cab. gud luck

Any way to get reminders for missed calendar events?

Love the samsung calendar for the fact I can dismiss reminders without having to unlock and enter a pin
My main issue is sometimes I leave my phone on my kitchen table and a reminder will go off but I am not present to hear it/see it
The issue is after a few min the LED will no longer blink and no notification is seen showing the calendar entry
Basically is there any way to either keep the notification going or have a repeat reminder for calendar entries that where not dismissed
Anyone? Suggestions?
