So the Warhawk is a member of the Topaz family so all of the ROMs and software here should work is that correct? I am planning on getting the ATT Pure and am ready to start hacking.
Thanks.
Yep, all Topaz ROMS nd such should work fine. ATT basically just changed the case. Although if there are ever any ROMs for the CDMA version I doubt they will work

I'm considering Sprint's version of the Hero when it comes out. Will it be possible to flash that one with the custom ROMs found here?
i wouldnt flash with any current roms that are out because that hero is built to run on donut(1.6) not cupcake(1.5)
when the new hero donut roms are avaliable we will see

It's a different device, but some marketingpoeple thought, it sell's better as 'Hero' If they would have given it another name, we would find it in a new section on the xda-forum ...
dbl post. sorry.
@immya - from what i have read so far the Sprint Hero will ship with cupcake. I also had the same question about flashing but I will just have to see if it ships with donut on Fri. morning.
If it doesn't ship with donut we could, theoretically, flash with the other ROMS available correct?
Yes, Sprint's Hero will be shipping with 1.5. http://androidandme.com/2009/10/carriers/more-info-on-the-sprint-ota-problem/
Personally, I think the biggest question is whether or not these ROMs include CDMA support. If they don't, they definitely won't work on Sprint's (or Cellular South's) Hero.
yeah thats what im saying, cupcake doesnt naturally support cdma but one of donuts main features is that it can support both cdma and gsm. so i doubt any sprint support then for the time being
Picking mine up tomorrow morning. I'll search on how to get a dump of the OS so that I can post it up somewhere. If anyone cares to point me to the right link it would be appreciated and get a modified ROM out quicker.
Cheers!
The Sprint Hero is a cupcake build with CDMA support added to it. I would not flash it with a European ROM because you might brick the radio.
OK, got it in hand and have the whole weekend to play
I'm not going to try to flash it, though, just extract for others tinkering, that I may then partake of. Just want to give SOMETHING back to this awesome community.
more then likely there will have to be a "tweaked version" or new roms developed for the sprint hero. usually, on most htc devices, things that are found to work on the gsm version will not work on the cdma i.e roms, radio upgrades etc...
I too just got my Sprint Hero today from Best Buy and would be more than happy to help the devs here by offering my phones data if you guys could just tell me how to dump the necessary info.
I'm betting that the same HTC tools will work to extract the rom from this device whether it's GSM or CDMA. We (CDMA users) use the same tools as the GSM guys in the WinMo world for building ROMs (buildOs, etc.), it's just some of the ROM packages are specific for GSM and some are specific for CDMA.
Currently I am using the ICON Rom from over there and it has been the closest thing to flawless. I was wondering if the ROMs here are the same as what is available over there. I'm really just trying to get the most stable setup that I can because I'll be handing the phone over to my wife as soon as I can get my hands on a EVO 4G.
the roms here are generally for GSM phones
My rom posted here is the same found in PPCGeeks, it's GSM only.
Which Android Rom would you recomend for my Telstra HD2 purchased from On The Go Solutions that will work with AT&T? I currenlty have a Nexus One build without Sense on my phone, but was wondering if this newer build MCCM SE 1.6 (HTC SENSE) Android 2.2.1 would work. If not, could someone recomend a better established well functionining rom with HTC Sense that I could use? If there are any roms that would allow me root access that'd be awesome too.
Not to be a jerk or anything but you jr members should pay attention this kinds of threads will get deleted by the mods for the question you ask is just an opinion and it can offend developers
Mate I know we all have to start somewhere and thats why we come to XDA, use the threads to search lots of devs put in alot of there own time into creating a great environment to further our devices ... if you want a great port use coredriod V_08 great battery and function if not search for one you like it doesnt take long to get them working.
first, i did use the search button so no flaming. at the risk of sounding like a noob, here goes nothing. i just picked up a verizon g2 variant and love it! however i have found a couple roms on the att side (who is my carrier) that i would like to use. so im wondering can these roms be used on different devices or do you need to stick to your carriers sub forum? perhaps flashing a kernel or something additional.
any help is greatly appreciated! oh, and the reason for a verizon phone on att is simply because of the awesome deal i got.
thanks!!!
Dont flash the ROM from AT&T. You'll most likely going to boot loop or even worse brick your phone. There's a reason they have different sub forums for different carriers. Stick to the verizon sub forum or go to the Original Android development and look for ROMs that works on VS980 only. But if you really want the ROM. It never hurts to ask.
Hey, Guys.
I've had this phone for a while, now. I'm pretty attached to it. I'm pretty sure I have some 2 or 3 year old posts here about this very phone.
BUT...
I haven't seen any new support for it. I'm currently running PAC-ROM, but I'm still on jellybean and while I LOVE the rom, it can be a bit glitchy (blame Tyler). I've tried flashing plenty of roms for this thing over the years. i9500's, i9505's, jfltexx's, etc. etc..... I've even gone in and added my phone's model to the rom compatability list (I'm sure there's some other technical name for it, but hey). But nothing actually work works.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some snazzy newer rom for my phone? I don't wanna go back to stock just so I can have lollipop/marshmallow.
Stock sucks.

JDC ROMs are compatible with the SCH-R970.
There doesn't seem to be any difference except for the carrier. Yours is C-Spire, and the other is US Cellular.

thanks for replying.
US Cellular runs on a CDMA network, while CSpire runs on GSM.
Meanwhile, T-Moble ALSO uses a GSM network (every other major carrier uses CDMA), but I believe that they use a different chipset.
