Hey,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5JpyoAR3ec&feature=related
I don't know if those two things were official but this guy seems to know a bit more than we do and all he says sounds reasonable. The Xperia X2 will come in the first days of November and will cost about 500,00 - 600,00 Euro. That is a little cheaper than the X1...but just a little.
I started to like the X2, I know it's just an updated X1...but even that is a good choice. It is way more fluid than X1 is.
What do you guys think? Too expensiv? Too less hardware improvement?
In the end the price will decide whether I buy it or not...
cheers,
Kon
i certainly wont be buying it! - i'll start looking at phones though when my contract runs out in feburary >.<
Well, it should have been cheaper, with all the old parts and all.
I don't see a reason for upgrading, but I would recommend it to a new user. Although, with all the Snapdraggon phones coming out, I won't be able to do even that, I'm afraid.
its release date in the uk has already been leaked. 6 november.
the x1 was £500 on play.com on release. they have the x2 up on the site but with no release date or price yet. but will the release in just over a month it should show up soon
TC,
Just remember, you won't have the support of XDA when you purchase the X2.
Do not forget that.
Cheers.
still satisfy with X1 so i'll wait until next 6 months to see price of X2,X3 drop to around £300 2nd, i'll buy one
i dont know X2 or X3 is better,
X2: qwerty keybroad, windowmobile
X3: capative touchscreen, Android OS
others specification almost the same
Well, according to slovak SE e-shop site, X2 should be released in Slovakia in december with price 649€.
I'm kind of new to this (I've had an X1 for under a week), but with Sony positioning the Xperia X2 as a premium product, and the specs still lagging behind even other Windows Mobile devices (still the same-old 528Mhz chip and 256MB ram, when others have 1ghz Snapdragon and 320MB ram), it's going to be a hard sell. I'm certainly not in the market for it.
This phone will bomb quite spectacularly. It hasn't even got the good looks of the X3 to save it's bacon!
Guys,
Well, in my opinion, the "Xperia" line has become a let's just test our beta-testing products and see what sells and what doesn't.
If I'm not mistaken, there's even the Xperia Pureness. Lawl, I just have no idea what Sony Ericsson is trying to shoot for anymore.
Cheers.

Why not?
^bcos the X2 isnt made by HTC unlike the X1.
xda only supports HTC-made devices....
I don't care the price because I am DEFINITELY not going to get X2. I am sorry, Sony.
No x2 until se admit the manufacturing defect and poor material and fix the cracks(2 cracks) on my phone!
WHY I WILL NOT BUY THE X2:
after being salivating for the X2 quite a lot, I have decided I will not buy it because:
1- SAME ARCHAIC PROCESSOR (528MHz)
Many brands (HTC, Acer, Toshiba...) are releasing 1024MHz phones while Sony is STUCK with a two-years-old processor (???)
2- 8 MEGAPIX CAMERA
Why not include the Idou/Satio 12 MP cam into their flagship ??
I don't like this "get a great camera-phone or a great smart-phone but not both" politics
WHY IS SONY NOT RELEASING A LEADER, KING-OF-THE-HILL PHONE ???
THEY CAN, BUT THEY WANT ME TO BUY TWO PHONES INSTEAD OF ONE ???
nah...
a LEO with keyboard would be DA BOMB
As for oct 2009, and Besides the crappy quality, HTC is da way to go

the reason why they are using the 8 mp sensor and not the 12 mp is because the 8 mp sensor is better quality, the 12 mp is just the highest mp to keep up with samsung/lg.
because of this mp war the sensor has the most mp squashed into the sensor what looks good on paper (specs) but the picture quality is poorer that the 8 mp camera which is very good (SE C905).
just buy a DSLR for awesome pictures, sheesh.
I don't care about megapixels. Just give me a camera that can take good pictures INDOORS. I paid $840 because I wanted a phone that could do it all pretty well, and Xperia is basically useless as a camera indoors.
I think I'll probably have to wait 1.5 years for such a device, however.

Hey guys ...i have got some gud news for u all....X2 may be launched on may 28 ,2009..
check this link out
http://209.85.153.132/translate_c?h...le.com&usg=ALkJrhjpB0njc94QB5x0na_gZKc-oa2Yqg
if it really gets announced on may 28 hopefully it gets released end of the yr when my contract ends. then ill hv another phone to consider aside from Idou.
wow.. i am waiting for idou and x2..
I'm very sceptical..
Sony Ericsson is losing a lot of money and the X1 wasn't really a bestseller :/
saw this and made a thread a while back.
its the annoucement on the 28th of may, dont think any phones will be released on that date.
they are sure to show the x2 and idou (these are near definate) + some other phones / phone related stuff
oh god.. I spent tons of money on my X1 already.
I sure hope the X2 has big improvements..
eg. Casing, AMOLED sceen <- WOOO lol, nvidia tegra?, improved cpu speed, HD video recording, 5mp camera, RAM is quite good, but more wouldn't hurt . Last but not least, better speakers!
yeah, quite a wishlist there lol
WOOW ITS NICE TO HERE FROM NEW SERIES OF XPERIA AFTER THE FUSS ABOUT SONY'S MISTAKE (i realy didn't belived it myself) but i'am
pretty sure that it wont be availble till 4'th quarter of the 2010 , i waited for x1 about 8 months to be released and bought it the day it released in uk. if anyone has seen any image leaked please post its still good to know how the phone looks like
I do not believe it. It would be good, but I don't think they will make the announcement so soon.
Aino, Yari and Satio (Idou) was released today.
And like I said last week, no X2.
yummy yummy phones
I guess no X2 today....

Aino looks good but it seems like we miss out on the x2
i read on esato forums that theres one more unannounced model. could be the new xperia...
dunno when but i definitely got my eye on Satio to replace my X1 come end of the yr.
The X1 is lacking on the software side, not hardware. How is coming out with a new X2 going to solve the X1 deficiencies? We don't even get proper updates to the X1.
I hope SE sits on the X2 for a while and get it right instead of rushing out another unfinished phone like they did with X1. IOW, hold the X2 until WM7 hits.
Fark WM! I say go S60, and see some success come back to Sony Ericsson.

Not only is WinMo better, but Xperia was the first phone that SE made that didn't have a crappy average joe loser interface.
Seriously their phones are like using phones from 2005 and earlier.
Xperia is their window to advancement.
WinMob is much better then Nokia's Symbian (SimByan?) and Android and Linux Mobile and BREW. It's so easy to make applications for WM...
But more important I know excatly what a desperate feature I need in X2!
It's just a little hole in the battery cover to make SoftResets without removing the cover!
I'm thinking to drill a hole in X1 for myself.
I'm contemplating on purchasing the Nexus One. I want to make sure I make the right decision. I don't want to fork out $600 then to find out later that a new better device will be released.
So, anyone know of upcoming phones this year on par or even better than the Nexus One?
Much appreciated.
~BoomBoomPOW
I have heard there is going to be a enterprise version with full physical Keyboard.....they are stills rummors, but you can wait a little more and see if its true.
Also, there is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10....8.1MP Camera, 16x Zoom, 1ghz snapdragon processor, 4" AMOLED screen...and its going to be out in the near future (1 Quarter of 2010). Its a great device.
It all depends on what your definition of "better" is. Way too subjective for a good answer from anyone here.
The nexus one doesn't have a physical keyboard. That's a deal-breaker for me, so in my opinion, at least, it's not better than my G1 or CLIQ.
Even in our crappy US market, though, there will be more powerful phones every year. Some will have features you like. Others not. If you're with T-Mobile, keep an eye out on tmonews.com. They usually have new phones and rumors of new phones long before some other sites do.
There is a leaked roadmap from HTC. I like the Bravo model over N1 because of the "Touch-Scrollball" - so there is less a chance to wreck it if you lay the phone frontside.
But, of course there always will be something better...
The HTC Bravo is pretty much the Nexus one with an upgraded camera (it does 720p recording) so technically is a better model.

yea I saw that...my issue with the Bravo is the lack of a trackball or optical pad, directional pad...its not always easy to select specific links and I feel those make it a lot easier to manage.

It has an optical pad or something to that effect (it doesn't look like a "pad" but that's what it's being put down as in the specs)

Coming out in APRIL on VODAFONE:

How about next year, around March/June...?
That makes sense, let's see what unfolds in the coming months. Can't wait, I'll hold off buying the Nexus One for now.
The Engadget review of the X10 is great content.
Also, the HTC HD2 coming to T-Mobile is a mighty contender as well. But I'm not too keen on the Windows Mobile 7 OS. Wished it was Android.

I have no intentions of getting the Nexus One, whatsoever! Trust me, by the time the year ends, phones are gonna be murders. Like we went form crap phones, to the iPhone, and then the rocket flared upward after that.
you're afraid of buying a nexus one - but why ? you pay $600 for one, and a new phone comes out next month, so you sell the N1 for $550 and buy that other one.... or wait longer and still sell the N1 for $550...
hardware has ALWAYS been this way. there will always be a better/faster/cooler product released. hard to beat the G1's keyboard and stuff, but it will be beaten.
just buy the N1, and enjoy it. you're not promised tomorrow
Wait Until either the rumored nexus one with keyboard comes out (or at least see if it is real) or wait until the HTC Bravo comes out (it is a GSM device so it doesn't matter if it goes to the carrier your not on, you can just unlock it)
The Bravo is identical to the Nexus One in specs. Yes it has 512 mb of ram not the rumored 320 mb of ram. But Bravo has HTC Sense on it and you know those people with the nexus one will try to get a fully working Bravo ROM that is working at full speed.
I'm sure when the Bravo comes out and it gets rooted someone will make a Nexus One 2.1 ROM so you can get the best of both worlds
Guys someone said the X10 does 720p? Well this is copy pasted from google.com/phone
"Video captured at 720x480 pixels at 20 frames per second or higher, depending on lighting conditions"
That is 720p isn't it?
It will be a long time before android phones start releasing anything better than a 1ghz snapdragon, not to mention that most of the other 1ghz android phones are only packing 256 ram.
To who ever said the Bravo will have 512, im pretty sure that is unconfirmed but it is possible.
Xperia10 looks like trash, its still stuck on 1.6 which also means they had to go with a lcd 65k colour screen.
If you want the HD2 in android flavor you could wait for the Supersonic
Best choice i think though is Bavo or Nexus One
@ Above:
It's the Bravo that does 720p recording and 720p is 1280x720
The Bravo has been confirmed to have 512mb ram. When you look at it it's the exact same as the Nexus in terms of size and shape etc (apart from trackpad and physical buttons) so it makes sense it has similar internals.
The X10 isn't trash. It's running 1.6 but will get a (Confirmed) update to 2.0/1 soon after launch. Timescape looks awesome and just as good as Sense UI (needs 5 homescreens though). It also has a 4.0 inch screen.
To me it's down to the Bravo or the X10. Purely because I need an instore purchase. I will almost certainly get the Bravo unless one of them ends up on o2 and I will then get the o2 handset.

There has been rumours that it will be released with 2.0, which would make more sense and could explain the repeated delays with the release date. But yes, as you said, even if it is released with 1.6 SE have confirmed a 2.0 upgrade for it.
As my contract ends in june, i just hope the X10 is available on t-mobile by then, my G1 is starting to get a bit battered
Also, Sony Ericsson phones have always had the best cameras and have always been great for music. I had a SE k750i a while back, which was an absolutely amazing phone.
I'm excited that the N2 could feature a keyboard, but then it might be by motorola which makes me go iffy, maybe I"m just pro HTC,
Im already saving for a SE X10....
HTC HD2 looks really nice, but no Android...deal breaker for me.
im about to buy 2nd X10 which costs about $300, is this a good price?
secondly, my current phone is X1 which using window mobile, how can i transfer all sms from X1 to X10
any reply would be highly appreciated

Nothing. He's just saying that the newer models have better hardware specs than the x10...better screen with true multitouch, more optimized CPU, more RAM. It still remains to be seen how responsive they will be though.
I have the same dilemma.
I can not wait for two more months for the Arc or Neo. And their initial price will surely be real high.
Plus, I'm actually having 2nd thoughts if they would really perform as expected.
So I was thinking, if I could get an X10 now for half the price of the Arc, wait a few more months while watching the early birds get their hands on the new devices, then maybe after 6 months, if the Arc or Neo lived up to as promised, that's the time to buy either of the two. If not, I'll settle for my modded X10 or best, get an HTC.
I'd buy X10, if it costs 300 euros Arc will probably cost more than 500. OK, it's only a difference of 200 but you never know when you could need them
As I said in the past, the only good things of Arc (for me) are Gingerbread, Bravia display and HDMI. No double core processor, no more RAM, and no more quality in camera (no matter if it has Exmor technology). Multitouch isn't really needed. So let's say is not a significant improvement (MY opinion).
That's in case you want to save money and have a good phone at the same time. Otherwise, if you wanna spend more and have a high featured phone, HTC models are for you or you could even consider Motorola Atrix, those phones can offer you the same as Arc or even more for a similar price. However, if you still want to get a SE phone, you already know what your options are and what phones will come from this brand.
I also recommend you to read the specs. of each phone very closely.
Good luck in your decision
haha I just bought my first high end android phone, the AWESOME Xperia X10 for $200 on craigslist yesterday!! I LOVE IT!!! The difference between my old Galaxy I7500 and this phone is like the difference between a toyota corolla and a ferrari haha! how u box it with all these bugs,: mad:
Ok lets look at the facts....
1. The X10, X8, X10minis aren't having there bootloaders unlocked, so why would they unlock the X2s?
2. Sony Ericsson isn't going to invest money into a platform/phone they don't sell/use anymore just to make some people happy. Sony Ericsson is a company not a charity, so if it doesn't make money why would they do it?

The fact is that Sony Ericsson released a phone oriented for Business-users and companies. The phone did have a pricetag worth around 650€, so it was a phone from the more expensiver end.
In other words this phone was not intended to be a toy as most of Sony Ericsson's phones are. It's just because of this i feel that Sony Ericcson let down their customers by cheating them with a phone that is currently pure crap. They supported the phone about 3 months with a couple of software-releases, and ditched it after this. 3 months is not what a company expects a business-phone's support to be. I see it to be at least 1-1,5 years after the initial release. Toys could just go with one update, and then they could get ignored after this.
Now that SE is focusing their development more or less on only Android Phones, i don't see any reason why they could not try to clean up their mess by releasing an Android-verison for the phone, and try to calm down pissed of customers with a crap phone.
I really don't understand why someone loves Windows Mobile. I totally hate WinMo, and i just find annoyances, flaws and stupid behaviours in this bloated operating-system.
That Nokias Stephen E-flop picked Winmo for their phones will be an end for their era as a leading cellphone-manufacturer... Windows is NOT suitable for mobile devices. They should just stick with desktop-computers.
We are wrong...SE are late
When X1 was released (lately) it should have been like X2 (with all the extra features that X2 have and X1 don't) the price of X1 was in level with competitors that have better and newer hardware and features.
When X2 comes out SE was late again... all competitors were lauching Snapdragon 1GHZ CPU Phones (for that level of price) and SE mantains the hardware identical to X1...
They're late in hardware and in software dev (OS releases) and because of that, they were not enable to sold X2 (they release, almost at the same time, the X10 with Android) so they quit the development of it.
We were wrong... we bought it at high level price (confident in the high quality that the name SE brings with it - the wave before touch phones wasn't so dependent of OS software) when we should waste our money with other brands.
That's my personal opinion. I've been buying SE since t68i (P910, K800i, P990, X1, X2 and Satio). I'm happy with my current SE phones (Satio and X2) but I'll not buy again SE phones blindly (without check all competitors).
By the same price I'll be more happier with another phone from another brand with more capabilities.
Right

right the same words +1
X2 are you kidding me?
Seriously people are still talking about this device! With what's on offer now from Sony Ericsson I am sure they will claw their way back in the mix! X2 was dead in the water before release as handsets available at time of it's release offered much more. There will be no hdspl for x2 as quite frankly the demand isn't high enough and the phone is bugged. Winmo 6 is dead IMO with mango release eminent on wp7.1 alas put x2 to bed
I agree. I would have bought the X2 had it not been for the exorbitant retail price, plus no GSM carrier support here in the US. Now, all support, especially the OS, will be gone, making this phone DOA. A real shame, because the X2 had, and still has lots of potential.

These days a SE X2 can be had for as little as around 200 euro (new or demo), so maybe that is an acceptable price for what it offers. I still believe the keyboard is way above anything the competition offers (including the latest Nokia E7).

Sorry to "crash" the party, but I'd never buy a Sony (Ericsson) ever again.
Why? Simple...
- Lousiest support I've ever seen.
They may release the one or another ROM update for their phones, but, in terms of W/X8, dropping support after just a year with lousy excuses like "oh sorry, Froyo won't run satisfactory on your devices and Gingerbread is well beyond the capabilities" is what I take as "****ing the customer over big time".
- Somewhat solid hardware packed into cheap-ass plastic.
I don't know about you but my major gripe with the X8 has always been the back cover which just crackles/crunches when you hold the phone.
That being said ... I wouldn't opt for something else than a Samsung or Motorola. I'm deeply satisfied with my Galaxy S2. Sturdy design, nice looking and so far a great support from Samsung.
That's of course my opinion, your mileage may vary.

I agree with you, SE definitely worst support for their smartphones.
But too bad, i love only SE designs phones.
I satisfy with my X8 now, my daily usages are only Opera Mini, calls, whatsapp and text. The phone's performance is ok for me, the only bad thing is the screen is too small.
I will not buy any phone within next 9months, and since my contract is end on Jan 2013 too.
I think i will buy Arc S for next, or similar to USD 250-300 around end of the year.

SE is all about the design of their phones. I seek performance.
Voting for Samsung, HTC and Motorola!
Depending the price and screen size either Mini Pro or Pro if a hardware keyboard is something you want. I realised after I had bought my X8 that it would have been nice with X8 with hardware keyboard and it seems Sony (Ericsson) thought the same thing since they released the Mini Pro
ray or mini form 2011
m also not very satisfied with my xperia x8, but i still love SE ..................eagerly waiting for sony xperia s
i really like motorola droid razr max because its battery lasts longer.. 3300mah!! that would really last longer..but sad its only for verizon huhuhu..it wouldnt work here in the phils.

could anyone suggested me a phone with a good battery?? anyone??
Maybe the moto defy+, btw seems that motorole has some models with good battery.
I'm satisfied with my x8 too, it was a very cheap purchase, even if locked with a 12 month contract. And I like the clean layout.
But as others have said, YMMV... It's full of mobile phones out there.

Dear wilbso, I will go for ARC or ARC S in next few months.
Just because of the Design keeping the worst service quality aside. I have voted for ARC also.

thank you for voting. good choice
The new Xperias look really good, but sadly they aren´t dual-core-phones.
ATM, I need a new PC, so I won´t buy a new phone in the near future.
My contract ends in November, and I think that until then, smartphones with tegra 3 will be available, so my next phone will mist probably be a quad-core phone, maybe a HTC or Samsung.
