Sense UI Home Landscape View - Hero, G2 Touch General

Can the Sense UI home screen be viewed in landscape?

Yes, but none of the Home screens can be.
When I say yes, I mean the HTC Sense keyboards can be used in landscape, Album and a few other elements I think.
But in general, most of the Sense apps are landscape only.
Not really an issue.

I defaulted back to the bare bones Android home screen & it was portrait only too.

Home screen autorotate

Can homescreen autorotation only be done in a full custom rom?
Or would an upgrade (e.g. cyan's making bacon) be able to enable this function?
Cyanogens Makin' bacon doesn't support landscape right now. The only I see to enable it would be to download a homescreen replacement such as Home++ that's what I'm using right now and it works fine.
What happens to your icon/widget layout when you switch to landscape view?
Does Android 2.1 not support auto-rotate by default?
It supports auto-rotate for everything but the home screens, which kinda sucks cause when I get Handcent pop ups if I wanna use the landscape keyboard I have to go into the handcent app. Can only do portrait for pop up quick reply if it comes up while youre on home or lock screen.
I tried open home, it wouldn't let me put widgets on the screens so I got rid of it.
but to my question:
Does native landscape mode for the home screen require a COMPLETELY new rom?
Or just a addition to the stock?

Landscape Sense UI?

Have you guys seen this?

Looks like Sense running in landscape mode.. anyone know more about this?

Notice how it's on a slider? And how it's a horizontal slider?
Lemme know if you see an EVO with a horizontal slide-out keyboard, kay?

I love that lolz of course your going to sense ui in landscape on a slide out. The slider triggers that now i think i would be a little annoyed if the evo had that since they sensor can be a bit touchy when you tilt just a little.
I think the OP's point was that there should be a Rom soon that has landscape enabled for areas other than sms and browser. I would enjoy that!
CM6 has landscape mode. It also has a power control widget that lets you turn off the rotation sensor software. Believe me, it gets to be annoying as hell having to sit and wait several seconds because you accidentally tilted your phone just the wrong way while walking, and your home screen has to re-render in landscape, then back into portrait.
i want to root but then i dont just seems to risky for me. maybe if i had a demo phone then i would but not my only line to the world
Rooting's pretty safe these days. I haven't had any serious issues with my phone, only little "cosmetic" issues... Nothing which getting CM6, editing a file, or nagging Cyanogen on Twitter hasn't fixed.

Yeah...I could see how it might. I've only had the evo for a few days and this is my first visit to the evo forums. Installed 2.2 official so now it appears I have to wait for root.
This is not really new, there are a few custom roms that allows you to rotate your home screen with or without sense.
Sent from my Evo using XDA App

Care to share some links?
I'm very excited for this. I've been waiting for HTC to come out with a phone with landscape Sense so that it could be ported over to the EVO.
Cyanogen has 360-degree roatation.
ADW Launcherand launcher pro both do this
The inability to view the original home screen in landscape mode resulted in me trying launcherpro/adw and now with CM6 I have yet to look back. 99% of the time I'm in landscape mode.. when I'm not I am not happy. I feel like one of those assholes on a sidekick but I don't care. It's the only way I can do it.

Easy fix for this would be to give it a few seconds before switching..
What I really want is landscape mode while at a 45% angle - i.e. when using the kickstand.. Had that with other launchers, but ended up going w/ sense since I hated every other launcher that I tried.. (adw/ launcherpro / etc)
And yes, obviously I realize that the EVO doesn't have a keyboard - just pointing out that a landscape sense is OUT THERE we should be able to get it..

Yep - ADW and launcher pro do this.. but.. I found both of them extremely laggy compared to sense
Not sure why people are hating on sense - I like it.. it works, and works well.. *but* doesn't support landscape at least on our devices

Because LauncherPro is better in every way, shape, and form.

[Q] Auto-rotate HomeScreen 2.2 update?

Any confirmed info on whether 2.2 will give us the ability to rotate the screen on the home screen? And if not, why?
Not confirmed but I bet not and this is why I use replacement home screens I'd like to use tw If it rotated to landscape...
Try adw.launcher with Ubuntu theme (both available on market) and you'll never go back!
What this Pinch to zoom home screen I saw for Captivate Froyo? Wtf is that?

screen rotation change?

how can i lock down the home screen from rotating. I dont mind the pics and text messaging with the flipping but i dont want the home to rotate. I have tried the shake to flip thing but it is some weird...any way just to lock down the one screen?
are you using the stock sense launcher or a launcher from the market?
i have adw and i think i found a setting in it...i thought i had looked everywhere
Yeah, theres a setting in ADW. its in like UI settings / screen preferences /home orientation i think.

Auto-rotate

I am new to Android and have my auto-rotate screen checked. However, I am in my main home screen (which has the weatherbug widget, pandora widget and that google search box), and when I hold it horizontally, it will not go into landscape. All my home screens (7 of them) do not rotate when I hold my phone horizontally.
However, if I open any app or anything, then it will rotate to landscape when I hold the phone horizontally.
Thank you for your assistance.
The homescreens do not rotate into landscape mode, only the apps do

MotoBlur launcher doesn't change orientation. You will have to get LauncherPro or ADW launcher to have that happen.
