Quick question - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I believe I read somewhere that if you have a myTouch you didn't need to download the new spl or radio. Is this true for JacxHero? On the thread it specifically says you need it.
Much thanks in advance!

1. This is not a development question.
2. The myTouch is a Sapphire, not a Dream.

Your radio should be good.
Read this entire thread for SPL help. Don't flash any SPL that is made for the dream or you'll have an expensive brick. In fact, read as much as you can on the forums before flashing anything.

One Question: Can you successfully root and install custom ROMs without A GOLDCARD?

Help...
Well I basically don't know where I am right now
Ive been researching how to mod a My-touch 3G for a long time and im a first time rooter
I'm Trying to get Cyanogen Mod 5.07 Hopefully but... I followed the directions at the Unlockr website not knowing it had different recovery than the ones needed for a CyangenMod
I got mixed up with multiple guides about rooting my phone in the first place and there are SO MANY different things to install...
Well I got my MT3G BACK to CupCake Android 1.5... i did the unroot process
But the wierd thing is that I cant seem to ROOT IT? FUNNY?
I dont know whats wrong but I followed the step and video at unlockr website and it just doesnt seem to work
and tried the androidandme site and their guide doesnt work for me too
Ive formatted my sd and did a factory reset too
I really want Cyangen 5.07 but it seems too complicated for me and I dont want to end up like before?
Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
radio 2.22.23.02
hboot 1.33.0006
cpld 10
1.5 crb43
Jason
Did you look in Cyanogen's website under wiki? The directions are clear and all the files you need are there. I would post link but this is account is considered new still so it isn't letting me yet.

Thanks for your reply but the thing is that I see websutes that clearly show you don't need a goldcard to root and that's what I want. Fir some reasons my phone just won't root. ..

Just understand one thing: Goldcard avoids check of CustomerID.
ROM has CIDs, your phone has CID. If phone-CID is in ROM CIDs list - you can flash without goldcard. This means official ROM for your phone. If you have T-Mobile MyTouch 3G (old version) - you can use only COC10 ROM or update to Android 1.6 (i forgot full name), i repeat - without goldcard.
If you have MT3G v1.2 - you must use goldcard, as unroot-method is using some special ROMs with other CIDs (non T-Mobile). Or use official ROMs without gc.

Rooting SPL 1.76.0010

Okay, I have searched in the Wiki and such and I havent found anything. Sorry if im posting a dumb question. I also dont have a extra SD card for a gold card. Whats the easiest way to root/ safest? is the 1.76.0010 still considered a perfect SPL?
Sorry im just really new to this, i promise in time i wont be asking dumb questions like this haha.
mate check this link out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=680359 it says its for 1.76.0009 but it worked for me and i was using 1.76.0008 perfect spl

when I get time i shall try this, hopefully it works.
hey try this app
Universal Androot app i was able to root my phone.
How did you wind up unlocking your phone with perfect spl 1.76.0010. I flashed the official rogers 2.1 update 3.54.631.4 ROM and am unlock and try some gingerbread.

Fixed perfected SPL and got a brick

Hello Developers!
So I decided to fix perfected SPL on MyTouch 3G (32B) - 1.33.0006.
Well, I've updated SPL to 1.33.2010, allright.
But

Both, if you're using a 32B you just have to flash a 32B radio after (see how-to root mytouch thread for more info on that).

due to instruction above I've updated the radio after:

Flashrec confusion

Apologies in advance if this issue has been raised elsewhere, but my search has proved fruitless. So here goes with my problem.....
I've followed the unlockr how to root procedure and clicked on the flashrec apk file. It then proceeds to tells me I have a 32A when I have the spec as below;
Sapphire pvt 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT - 1.33.2010(SAPP10000)
RADIO - 3.22.20.17
JUNE 2 2009 17:27:03
CPLD - 10
Could someone please explain what is going on and if I should be using the 6.2G or the 6.2H.
Cheers for any help.
Provide ALL fastboot info
Hi, is this what was missing CPLD -10?
Yes...
You have the 32B board... but using the 32A combo.
You should change the radio and leave the spl be.
Then flash a G version of the recovery..
Flash a 32B rom... and you should be on your way.
Download fastboot commander from my signature (not the magic version, it's for 32A).
Flash this radio: http://rapidshare.com/files/455782324/2.22.19.26I.img
And flash this recovery: http://rapidshare.com/files/387932919/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
Leave the spl/hboot as it is...
Reboot into recovery and flash a rom for the 32B board... find one in the development section.
Excellent advise - thanks very much for your very helpful and detailed reply.
The range of roms is so extensive I'm confused as to what to go for - if I may, is there one in particular you can recommend for stability/reliability?

Thanks for your reply, I actually flashed froyoredux 1.9.5 before I read it - how does this rom compare with your recommendation? I noticed quite a bit of lag, but that could well be down to my old magic!
Couldn't tell you. I never really got ROM happy since most that I tried ran like crap. CM 5.0.8 was about the best daily driver I could find.

I'm starting to see what you mean, things have got really slooooow on my phone. Quality always beats style.
Update: Did as you recommended and things are back to normal, good speed and stability, like old 1.5.
By the way, if I was to go for a rom such as ginger yoshi, would I need to change my radio once again to 2.22.28.25?
Changed the radio to 2.22.27.08 and tried a couple of more recent roms such as ginger yoshi and CyanogenMod 7 without success - at least I think they failed as the phone seemed stuck on the htc magic screen.(maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to boot up).
Am I doing something wrong or being simply impatient?
Mumilover,
Out of curiousity/stupidity (phones not valuable so can afford to take risks with it) and in pursuit of an almost totally 'force close free' phone I've changed the hboot to 1.33.0013d and the radio to 2.22.27.08.
I'm happy with the ability to flash more advanced roms, but not happy with the fact (didn't realise I'd turn my phone into a s-on!) that I've made your brilliant fastboot commander tool virtually redundant!
Is there another way to get back to the original set up? Hope you don't mind me asking by the way, as I know your advise was to leave the spl alone!
The first post on the ginger yoshi thread says you'll need to change you're radio to 2.22.28.25 or 27.08. Also, you'll need to change your SPL. (That is, if it hasn't changed from what it was according to your first post.) Hope this helped
update: scratch, that. apparently you've solved your problem already. sorry for not reading ahead >.<

[Q] HTC HD2 S-OFF Android install

Hi fellow members,
I recently bought a HD2 as it is a beast. However i wan to install the Hyper droid rom or any other android rom. But i don't know whether the following information makes a difference. In the listing it said
The device has a HTC unlocked bootloader (S-OFF) as it was a developer device provided by HTC.
Do i install the rom as normal using the newbie guide or do i have do some other stuff.
Thanks
Lucky you
AFAIK, the fact that your phone is S-off means that there is no need to flash HSPL to unlock the bootloader, it is unlocked. So you should be able to flash an android rom.
But I have not heard of a phone like yours on this site. It may be unique.
Before doing anything at all to your nand, i would suggest using an sd rom, or NativeSD for now for android, until someone else, with more knowledge than me, can find out whether your bootloader is useful for the HD2 community.
Meanwhile, can you provide more info- What OS is installed now? Is it EU or TMOUS (512 or 1024Mb nand)? What is your sdcard size/type (useful to know for NativeSD)? Radio version?
Thanks

Flash size is 512Mb
Ram: 448mb
data bus: 32 bits
OS version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Radio: 2.05.51.05_2
I have a spare 2gb sd card lying around. which guide do you recommend me following
Actually the phone isn't unique, see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501745, but is rare.
I got confused with the S-off description.

So can I install the rom as normal using the guides with MAGDLR via NAND.
Or do you recommend me using a SD card.
Thanks for your quick reply.
I think before you du anything to this device you sould try to dump the SPL, because this SPL could be the Key to make our HD2 to a completly native Android Device and mayby it would be a big loss for the HD2 community if you lose this SPL by a mistake...

Actually, I PMed the OP of this thread, and several others who had the same spl on their phones and had posted on the forum, but to no avail. No-one replied
But fortunately, I think @symbuzzer has found the spl in an old WM6.5 rom, since he posted a picture of his phone with "security unlocked" in another place.
But he still couldn't flash unsinged radios or did I overlook something?
Btw I have 3 semi working HD2 boards if there is something risky I would test it because its not a big loss if i brick one oft this semi working boards

Thanks, that could be helpful, let's see what symbuzzer says.
But it would still hurt to brick obe of these, but i think thats would be it worth
If someobe told me hiw to decompile and recompile spls I would try things by myself...

EDIT: I want to try this WM ROM with S-OFF SPL. Can I simply flash this ROM from SD with HSPL 2.08, because I read about problem with flashing from SD with HSPL 2.08... I have the EU HD2
EDIT2: ok I donĀ“t think that i can flash it because the filename says TMOUS and the Baseband thats in this ROM would brick my EU Model: http://d-h.st/ox8
EDIT3: Seems like Cotulla hast a SPL-Emulator: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 maybe he can give it to use, that would be a better solution instead of bricking my boards
