New Phone and Roms

Hi,
I am due to get my new HTC Touch HD from Orange tomorrow and i was wondering if someone could explain what the roms on here are able to do that the original rom wont be able to do.
I am Completely new to this as this is my first WM Device.

What you need to do is read the wiki (see signature), and rom related threads, as to answer your question would take to long and as the previous person mentioned, we have been here before.
Do a search in the rom development forum and read the first few posts on each rom which will tell you basically what that rom includes. Do the same for whaever roms you are interested in and then try them out if you want.
All I can say is read read read and follow guidelines regarding flashing in the wiki and cRaCKwHoRe's guide. Both can be found in my signature

It may appear daunting at first, but everyone here was in your shoes at first. After reading the wiki and implementing advice/tips/tweaks etc listed within you should be on your way to understanding. As a close mate (cRaCKwHoRe) said, if you read the wiki you'll know what I know, and this is the truth
There is also guidelines and tutorials on how to flash to knew roms and improve radio (reception) etc.
All information on each rom is listed on first few posts of each thread on that particular rom.
If you have any problems on any topic people here will gladly assist you (well most). If no one helps you, which I doubt, PM me.

1/ Why is there 1000 methods to flash a ROM?
2/ Do I need to do a partition in all cases?
3/ Is there a ROM for 32A that adds multi touch to my device?
4/ Might be a lot to ask but why is there no PROPER tutorial on how to install a ROM?
5/ Can I brick my phone?

I have found out using the forums that 32A do not support multitouch.

I use MyHero 1.1.3 (32A with BFS 303 kernel) and multitouch DOES work. But it needs to be supported by the software, works great in the browser for example.

Erm .. there's only one way to flash a rom ..
- Download rom and copy it to the sd card root folder
- Boot into recovery
- Do a nandroid backup
- wipe
- Flash the new rom
- reboot

Thats what I was thinking too
and my fav question out of the list:
Can I brick my phone?
Let me answer this one... from your list of questions I find it hard to believe you even know what "brick" means (no offense) but you should NOT even attempt to change anything about your phone except for whats in the menu>settings>sounds/display area
and I'll say it again no offense but people like this that have no idea what their doing is why the companies are so against us gaining root access because yeah theres some of us that understand what we are doing and the concept of linux but then you have these people that have NO CLUE then screw their phones up and guess who they call... not the dev, but the company crying about how they need a new phone...
Bottom line is if you dont know what you doing, DONT DO IT!

hey friends i'm a huge htc fan...i had the fuze,then the tilt 2 and now the hd2 yay well i need some help i read alot of info for the phone and now so i'm confuused..i have the unbranded hd2..i think its has the 521 flash memory...well i wanted to use Nrg rom on my phone...so what should i do exactly to avoid bricking my phone cuz i've read alot of ppl bricking their phone...so pls bear with me and help me friends

[Q] My SPL is 3.0.3 and there is no older frimware on HTC.com to downgrade it!!! Help

Hello everyone,
my problem is simple, I have received a new HTC HD2 and it had SPL 3.0.3 preinstalled.
the sofrware version is:
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_India_3.14.720.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
I'm trying to downgrade this SPL, so I could install HSPL and then install WP7 on NAND. But I'm having problem here!!! I tried all HTC sites and I couldnt find an older Firmware for my mobile. All I found was the software 3.14 I mentioned above, so they didn't release an older software online or something?
Also, I have tried every single WWE old versions I found online, 1.43, 148 etc, the mobile didnt allow any of them to install.
Please advice me what to do, I have looked all over the forum and tried everything and didn't work, also I dont know how to get a goldcard .img, if someone can do it for me. heres my SD number:
