Help! screen alignment problem! - Touch HD General

Hey had a problem occour on my HTC HD where basiclly the screen keeps dis-aligning itself which makes the device a nightmare to use. Basiclly everytime I align the screen it works fine for about a minite if that before becoming dis-aligned again, usually to the right off the screen, I've tried soft resetting, hard resetting and removing the battry but made no difference. Does anyone know what may have caused this or how it could be fixed?

A number of people have posted similar queries. Try searching for 'align' and you should find your answer though I think it may well be a warranty return.

Touch Screen Calibration Troubleshooting

The touch screen alignment on my Diamond occasionally gets misaligned and inadvertently aligns itself without warning. When I tap in one place, it registers in another. It is a really big nuisance especially in circumstances where I need to quickly input data into the PPC.
I was hoping that somebody had a solution for this?

have u tried realign???
I had that problem on my 2nd Diamond. Tried different version of ROMs but the problem still there, so I returned it and get a new one. My first one had a problem of self-restarting. Finally, now I'm happy my third Diamond
So ask if you can get a replacement, otherwise send it for repair.
Probably worth mentioning. I had a similar problem and it was driving me mad.
I was about to return the device for service, then I discovered it was a result of installing the GSen screen rotation program. I'd installed it to try it a few weeks ago and forgotten about it.
It turned out it that was switching the digitiser orientation without rotating the screen.
Uninstalled GSen and it's all fine now.
I'm hoping that uninstalling GSen will do the trick. Will give it a try tonight.
GSen was uninstalled and the problem still exists. Does anyone know if there is a firmware upgrade that handles this problem?
Have the same problem...
The touchscreen decalibrates itself.
2 minutes after calibrating it changes everything again. And just randomly.
Seems to be a hardware mistake, because even a hard reset didn't bring any help.
Anybody a solution?

G-sensor failure

Hello everyone:
I've found a failure on my blackstone's g-sensor.
I noticed it wasn't working playing Teeter.
I tried to configure with the tool provided in the ROM but une of the bubles (horizontal) always goes back to the right side.
Tried hard reset, but still got the problem.
Is there something like a driver that I could reinstall, or should I send it directy to HTC??
Thanks in advance
If HARD reset doesn't work, I would suggest sending it back for repair.
- Steve
Yes, HARD reset didn't work.
The SOFT reset was the first thing I tried...
¿Wouldn't be possible to reinstall the software that uses the g-sensor?
The hard reset restores your phone to the state it was out of the factory. No additional software to the preinstalled stuff is required for the G-sensor to work. If immediately after a hard reset the G-sensor still does not work, it's 99% a hardware problem. The reason why hard reset is suggested is to make sure that other software possibly disturbing what does not work (the G-sensor software in this case) are removed, but, again, out of the box the phone already has the software and drivers needed for each part of it to work.
By the way, the calibration error is a clear signal of the problem.
Well my friends...
The g-sensor failure issue has been solved without HTC's help...
Maybe using the Advanced Config tool, I changed the Gsensor value (don't know how to translate it, in spanish "Intervalo de muestreo del acelerómetro").
I set it in 200. Today, as my last attempt to solve it, I changed it again, to 150, and... et voila!!! It works!!!
The strangest thing is that I made several soft reset, even one hard reset (yes, a hard reset, I know how to do a hard reset), but it didn't worked.
It seems that some changes we make with this configuration tools, stay the way we set them, even if we make a hard reset... Is this possible?

Definitely, I've found the 1% that always bothers us in computers...
I still tend to think that your sensor was "stuck" for some reason and after a bit of moving and shaking the device with normal use it got "unstuck". The stock settings are always correct for basic hardware features, and are the same for all users.

Maybe you're right.
In fact, I've changed back the value back to 200 (ms.), and it still works...
But it didn't get unstuck by the normal use... I tried it several times. It happened only when I changed that value.

By doing a hard reset this value should be reset to default, so if you really did a hard reset, it probably wasn't a software issue at all.
I don't have any explanation. Maybe it was just a case that it got unstuck in that moment, maybe not, and changing the setting caused something in a microchip of the G sensor work again... No ideas.

Yes, a hard reset, switching on the PDA while keeping volume down pushed, as the user guide says...

OK, at least, if anyone reports same problem, this could help.
Hi,
I m facing the same problem as you described, my horizontal tube is stuck on the left side.
I tryed to change the polling interval setting without effect.
I discovered a weird (from my point of view) inside the registry. The calibrate2-? is set set at a very hight value (only 1 in binary).
Changing it by a registry editor doesn't work, it goes back to the weird value when i restart the device.
Can you tell me if you had such values when you experienced the problem ?
Thank you
Hi again,
You know what ? i m happy
It was a pure physical problem. I give on my touch hd a little pinch on the left side and it unstuck the problem.
Everyone must know that it can happen. No change inside the registry is needed. You just have to shake a bit your hd to make it work again (if you break it i m not responsible )

..............
I had this problem after I traveled in a bus on a bumpy road with HD in my pocket - No pressure fall or anything. I am surprised to see so many had his problem. Hard Reset was no use. I shook my HD vigorously and this solved it. I was worried if this baby gets a Shaken baby syndrome by the shake
Lol! You remind me of my car stand. Each time I am on my car with the HD on its stand, and I bump into a hole on the road, the screen rotates for a short while (due to the G-sensor). This is annoying, but funny... I think I will add TomTom to the exceptions list.

Had the exact same problem, sensor was stuck on the left. I was about to retire the HD and go back to my rhodium when found this post.
Pinching didn't work but a minute of VIGOROUS shaking did the trick! Still looking for my stylus which flew out ... be careful when trying this at home children
Yay, my HD lives!
Please advice where can i find the advance config tool? i'm facing the same problem

It sounds like the less Advanced tool also does the trick - just give it a vigorous shake

Problem with Screen

Hi ... has anyone experienced the following - my screen in not perfectly aligned ... I mean I have a 0,5mm black line at the whole right side of my phone, which is not covered from the wallpaper or menu etc.
I tried the align screen option in SETTINGS\System\Screen ... but after several tapping exercises it didn`t change anything ! I don`t know if it has something to do with the registry, but the alignment is not working at all ... is it just for tapping, or does it help to move the screen a little bit to the right ?
Can someone help ? Thank you in advanced !

It's just for tapping.
Your phone might be defective. I suggest you contact your reseller or HTC. This assuming you didn't install anything that may be causing this problem.
Just in case, you should perform a hard reset and see if it solves it. If not, you may need to change your unit.
Any known application that could cause the screen problem I have ?
I`ve installed so many things on my phone and I`m not sure if the phone was that way when I bought it ...

Surely you must have noticed??? Only one way to find out, do a hard reset. It will make your phone revert to the factory condition.

Leo Screen freeze crash Issue

I have been having some problems with my leo where i cannot unlock it after coming out of standby. The screen just freezes.
And sometimes when i press the END button to get it out of standby, the key lights come on, but nothing else happens.
Apparently others have this issue too! - check out u-tube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqJw5omurLA
Has anyone else had this or still having this? Do i have to return my phone for another one?
Have you tried a hard reset?

Haven't had the issue. Vaguely read about this somewhere else, might be related to the default WM 6.5 lockscreen. Disable it and try something like S2U2 and see if u still have the same issue.
I have same problem with my device. Is this software or hardware problem? I have to do hard reset, and after that display can be stack. So I have to do soft reset, and phone working. It happens to me 2 times in one day, both times after I have been in room with very bad signal. Maybe that can produce problem. Symptoms are same as on YouTube video.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
i face this b4, it happend few times a day. but after i do hard reset the problem is solved. i think should be installed something conflict with the phone or inproper amended some registry
i used to have this but now it is less common after I have installed WMTask to Close applications when I hit "X" (instead of WM just minimizing the app). In effect it frees up memory and hopefully does cause your HD to struggle for memory when waking up?
guys,
for your info, I installed a new ROM and this didnt help. So it is NOT a SOFTWARE issue. I returned my phone for a new replacement unit and no more issues.
Sorry to say but if u have this problem u need to send your phone back.
I now have no more issues!
Mine has been doing this a lot. Turning it back on just results in the keys lighting up and nothing more.
Work around is to turn on so keys light up, hold down power key until lights all go off, then press power key again ... it will come back to the lock screen.
Thanks for your prompt answer.
It is not seems as memory problem, because if I remove and return battery problem stay. Maybe it can be problem with display driver. Also it is a little strange that after hard reset, I have to do soft reset to get it work again. I not like to change rom version, because it can void my guaranty, and maybe it is hardware problem.
Mine does exactly the same thing once it gets warm. Decided to return it after trying multiple hard resets. ROM changes and S2U2. Made no difference.
As I've joked on this forum before (although it's true), I had to put mine in the freezer to get the screen to work again so it sounds to me like a hardware issue.
Mine's going back for a replacement next week...

Well thanks for the solution so if we get that bug , just put your brand new HTC HD2 on the freeser lol
I had similar problem four mornings in a row. Hardware keys would light up but screen dead. Soft reset got it going again, and a hard reset made no difference, even without reinstalling my softwares (I had a clock alarm set for each morning, maybe this is just coincidence). Someone on another forum with a similar issue suggested installing MemMaid, and for me this has worked. Running a regular 'clean' has meant that the problem has not returned, for three days now. So far! I notice that every clean finds many duplicate or invalid 'notifications', not sure if these somehow accumulate and cause the device to crash? Maybe worth trying? So problem for me at least is software related. HTC need to sort this as it is really annoying, and MemMaid is only free as a trial.

I am not quite sure that is software problem, if you done hard reset, and display still not respond on touch.
Soft or hard reset could clear the problem, I just mean that a hard reset didn't avoid the problem coming back. My current ROM is the official 1.48, didn't have this issue on the previous official ROM.
I got confirmation from service today, that it is hardware issue with phone display.

How do you know if youre phone should be replaced? Does it happen every time?
This happens to me every so often.
ya, I'm experiencing this as well. real drag!
The same thing happened to me aswell.
I recieved a message and when I tried to unlock the screen, nothing happened. The hardware keys worked but the screen didn't register my touches.
Tried soft reset, didn't work. Removed battery for a while, didn't work. Hard reset, didn't work. Flashed official ROM from HTC, didn't work.
It's been sent for repair. Hope I get it back quickly
I actually don't. But I insist to get phone replaced. I wrote appeal to company where I buy phone. Also I wrote down S/N and IME so I can check if I get new one.
Got the exact same problem, have been complaining about this in different topic here.
Sometimes couldn't unlock screen for many hours... then suddenly works again.
I've tried everything : decreasing/inscreasing screen sensitivity with reg, removing the screen lock, stopping the weather animation as suggested, putting a second finger in a corner while touching the screen : NOTHING WORKS
The only thing i'm convinced : it IS a hardware problem.
When the screen didn't react at all for some hours, sometimes playing with its humidity could help for a few minutes only ( by cleaning the screen with some special wet lcd cleaner or cleaning the screen with some humidity from my breath).
Also i'm travelling a lot (several countries a week)... and noticed THE PROBLEM APPEARS IN COUNTRY WHERE HUMIDITY IS HIGH. (that's also the reason why freezer could help. in a freezer, it's so cold, that the humidity is not in the air anymore, but is in ice state).
MAYBE SOME GOOD NEWS:
I recently bought the HTC screen protection for the HD2 (5 days ago).
Thanks to it, Air humidity doesn't touch the screen directly anymore.
And the problem hasn't appeared, not even once!
I just arrived a few hours ago in the country where i always had the problem (cause of its high humidity), and guess what ? Screen is still working great
I'll keep u up to date if problems come back.... but for now, i really think this is the solution (with logical explanation).
Kaemon.

[Q] Not able to Hard Reset and Ghost Touching

Bought my G2(D802) a week ago and updated it to 20b that day. Since then the only issue I had was a screen problem. I ticked "Show Touches" from Developer Options and observed. Twice a day, a ghost finger touches the screen. I can see touching dots and it makes it randomly on the screen.
So, I thought that Hard Reset may can solve this cause it seems like a software problem and I couldn't find anybody who suffers from this problem on the internet.
Not lying, I tried to hard reset like 40 times but nothing was happening every time. I tried both: Reset for before 20d and the one for 20d. Nothing was happening. I watched all videosi doing everything right but still same.
So I have 2 problems as you can see: Screen ghost touching and not be able to hard reset.
Should I send my phone back to warranty?
Thank you.
