I bought and downloaded Advanced Task Manager for my myTouch (thanks t-mobile for the crappy name) and noticed an app called "Contacts and myFaves". I force closed it and it freed up about 20mb of memory on the phone. I have no need for the app, so I tried to uninstall it but the phone wouldn't allow it. I'm assuming it's because I don't have root privileges. Has anyone else come across this? Does anyone know of a way to force uninstall it?
I noticed the same thing...it hogs at least 10meg of memory...i wish we could uninstall it.
That is a good question about the root access allowing it, can anyone else touch on that?
i would like to get rid of this pest too.
I did One Click Root on My Tush from Timo and on Cyanogen 4.01 it is not there anymore.
What can't I uninstall when I root it? I saw that you can't uninstall virtual voicemail cause it is tied into the system, need to know the others.
What major things should I uninstall when I do root it?
I don't any of the bloatware applications at all.
I removed Visual Voicemail and haven't had any problems.

It all comes down to a matter of opinion and need. What do you personally use. Do a search and you'll find that some people have found that the bloatware for some things like the pre-loaded Slacker Radio and Layar may prompt you to pay. So if you want those, remove them and install the normal ones from the market to get the free versions. If you go to the top of the Vibrant General forum there is a Tips & Tricks thread started by s15274n. Search for the word Bloat. He links to a great topic on removing Bloatware where you can find tons of advice and peoples opinions on what they have removed.
I have been recently getting the below pop up on my S4. I have tried everything to remove it and not sure what app its associated with. Tried the Airpush opt out apk but still no joy. Also downloaded some Airpush removal apps from the play store and still keeps on sporadically appearing
Anyone know how to get rid of it?
There are tools to analyze and remove ad components. I know one but can't mention it as it's a warez. I personally don't use it.
Seems like the only option left is to uninstall apps one by one and check if it's gone totally...?
Got this on my phone running 4.4.2 and its the weather theme Lookout says. Anyone have a solution to this? I cannot remove the app it wont uninstall. I dont think disable would work would it?
What weather theme? Phones don't usually need antivirus like lookout. You're probably fine if it is a system app and it's bundled with the phone.
I have disabled many of the built in apps from my S4 but the following ones are still in my App drawer although they are disabled.
S Planner
Music
Optical Reader
Help
Voice Recorder
Calculator
Samsung Hub
Voice Search
Kids Mode
Can I get rid of these icons?
Rob
Do they work if you want to open them? If so, they are not disabled.
They should disappear after a restart of the launcher.
Otherwise, just hide them.
Yes they still work, although disabled is selected and greyed out. Is there no way to properly disable these or remove them?
Rob
Yes there is a way. You can root your device easily with help on this forum or another thread (search for: how to root device Samsung galaxy s4 i guess? , so you can uninstall the bloatware apps with the app Root Uninstaller from the Playstore. If you are not familiar with this way to remove system Google Apps, than don't try it. It can mess up your Device very bad. But it's worth a try. Just learn and follow the instructions very good with a little help. That's all i can say from my experience which is very positive:good:

A grayed out "disable" means it cannot be disabled.
If an app was disabled, the "disable" option gets replaced by "enable".
Disabled apps aren't supposed to work either, so obviously your apps weren't disabled.
