Endless calendar syncing - G1 General

Frequently my calendar will sync for hours on end and eat through the battery life, forcing me to turn it off altogether so I don't run out altogether. The data does actually sync fine,ie both calendars are up to date all the time, so far as I can tell. Any ideas? I have searched this forum and google to no avail. I happen to use Cyanogen's rather brilliant (experimental series) ROM, but don't feel this is related as no other Cyanogen users have reported similar issues. Can't remember if I had these problems on stock ROM. Help?
Cheers

Are we talking about the google calendar?

If it is google calendar check on your PC that you don't have background image or attach google docs enabled in your calendar. These features may not be compatible.

Cheers for the reply, interesting idea. It seems to have gone away (for now) after I exported everything to ical files, deleted everything and re-imported (via a PC). Fingers crossed..

[REQ] Google Contacts exchange sync FIX

Hello,
I'm sick of searching for hours and finding a solution. Let's discuss it here, as I think i'm not the only one Google Contacts user with an HD2.
- I setup exchange with my google account. WORKS
- Sync of main calendar, mail, contacts. WORKS
After sync, my contacts are "Lastname, Firstname". I tried "Contact_changer_v1.3.cab", it fixes it to "Firstname, Lastname". BUT, after phone syncs with google again it changes all contacts back to "Lastname, Firstname".
SOLUTION?
That's strage. I've got the same problem but than the opposite. After Sync with Google my contacts are 'firstname', 'lastname'.
What do you use to sync with Google? I use Nuevasync...
He's using the phone's built-in Exchange feature (ActiveSync) to sync directly with Google, not through some 3rd party solution.
I have the same problem (also using ActiveSync). Well, it's not a problem anymore since I gave up trying to correct it a while ago and just settled for the 'lastname, firstname' situation. I think Google's working on a fix (read it on one of their help communities somewhere) but who knows how long that'll take.
One solution would be if you guys switched: Rubenski, try using ActiveSync; Sallcho, try NuevaSync!
I have this problem too.
What i've found is that all contacts with photos or notes get reverted back after syncing.
So what i've done is to remove all notes/photos.
Anyone know if google is working on this at all?

Another calendar issue

My calendar has started being a real pain in the backside today. I was reading a few topics on the calendar and after checking my battery usage daily I thought my calendar had started using a lot more battery than it used to (used to be around 5-8% on a full charge, recently its been 15-20%).
So I wasn't able to find any fix in the other threads and someone suggested clearing the data from the app manager which I did. The problem now is that my calendar is messed up. I only use it for birthdays linked via facebook and holidays. It is showing the holidays fine but it is no longer showing birthdays. It shows some (3 to be exact) however there used to be waaaaay more as it showed all my facebook contacts birthdays. The 3 people that it is showing seem to just be random and it says they've been linked from facebook.
The good news is that my calendar battery usage is back down to below 5%, but maybe that's because it isnt even working as it should.
Anyone have any suggestions. I really don't want to do a factory reset. It took me about 3-4 hours to sort out my contacts and link them all correctly so doing that again would drive me mad (unless there is some way I can do a backup which includes the contact links?)
Sorry, I can't help you but HTC clearly has issues with Google Calendar. My calendar eats battery and often sits at the "Loading" screen. I see lots of issues on the forum, and few solutions. Time HTC fixed it.
Hi,
Yeah its a known issue. I have the same problem. I e-mailed HTC about is last week and they replied saying that they know about it and should be fixed in an update soon.

Hello!
I tried the clear-data for the calendar and the battery consumption has dropped to normal levels again.
Thing is my Facebook birthdays are not showing up anymore (at least most of them...).
Also, I would like to ask another thing.
Is there a way for the calendar to display birthdays for people that you don't have as friends in facebook but you have their birthdays stored in your phone contact list??
And one final question. If you go to Google calendar online (from a PC) there is an option to have your favorite teams' schedules on your calendar. Is there a way for these schedules to appear on your phone calendar as well?
Thanks!

I have the exact same facebook birthday issue because I did the exact same clear data thing. Battery consumption from the calendar has disappeared thankfully but now the facebook birthdays don't appear.
I eventually gave up and left it. Day by day the facebook birthdays have been appearing strangely. Initially only 2 friends birthdays were appearing after clearing the calendar data, then the next day there were about 4, then the next day a few more and its gradually populating the calendar. There are still some missing but I'm hoping they will appear soon as everyday there seems to be some more added.
It is very strange but give it a few days and see if it starts populating.
Same here. Cleared the calendar data and it has resulted in similar effects (improved battery, weird calendar). I'm surprised that such basic functionality (HTC syncing with Google calendar using a Google OS) has caused such problems.
Oh, any syncing my favourite team (the one and only Glasgow Celtic) would be nice. Any ideas? I have Celtic's fixtures in Google Calendar on a PC but they don't appear in my syncs.

calendar wont sync

Hi, I tried searching for something like this on xda and I couldn't find anything. On my galaxy s2 the calendar app just doesn't sync with my Google mail account. I go into calendar it asks me to go to he Google account sync setting to sync calendar, even though the tick box for sync calender is checked, I click sync now anyway. After it has finished I go back to the calendar app, and it asks me to do the the same thing again. My contacts and even wallpaper form my old phone were synced propyl from my Google account but not my calendar. I just can't seem to find any reason why it isn't working. I've never had any problems like this before on my old rooted htc desire, where was flashing new roms weekly, so why on my galaxy s2. Would someone be able to help me please?
Just wanted to say I have the same problem, hopefully someone can help us.
I think it might be the Samsung social hub, together with the inability if kies to sync with google, and an assumption that you might want to use kies (or a lack of testing with the google calendar)
Try removing your social hub facebook account, and maybe deleting all the calendar data on the phone (under settings/applications/calander) so long as you are confident you have nothing stored locally without a backup.
I find the social hub facebook integration useless at the moment, since it doesn't hide declined invitations for me, so I'm going back to trying the google integration (which means i get birthdays spamming my calendar instead)

I have never used the Social Hub or Kies or even set any calender events on the phone itself but just clearing the calender data did fix the problem, and my Google calender events started syncing.
Thanks

Hmm.. Didn;t stay working for long for me. Must be time to try a new ROM and see if if got fixed with the last updates.
Had the same problem with litening rom 3.1.
I'm now on cognition 1.31. Problem solved.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Hi, i had the same issue and i am using a uk generic rom unrooted. problem seems to have corrected itself now. Wat seemed to cure it for me was to sync over my mobile network instead of wifi.

i also had this problem. i fixxed it within checking apps and delete the calendarfiles completely. after this the sync worked. its a problem of google, which have some android users (not only sgs2)

Calendar App

Hi, probably too soon, but has someone already managed to solve the one calendar problem on Calendar App? Like, i use google calendar with multiple calendars in it (basically, for different colors display on phone), an would be nice to have this feature here... I know, probably wont be fixed till final release, but just wanted to know if someone had an Idead =)
BTW, loved this consumer preview! Really, just put google account somewhere, and everything else started sharing and syncing!!
Havn't had time to install the Consumer Preview yet (and I don't really use Google Calender), but there is a similar problem with WP7.
Now I don't know if the Calender app support multiple calenders correctly (might be an issue on Windows 8's side), but if it does (like WP7), you need to select which calenders to use in Google.
Again, I am not too familiar with this, but this might the same problem so this page might help you:

If it doesn't work after that try manually syncing Google or re-adding your Google account.
hm, good shot, but two problems...
first, I used to have this problem on iphone, and solved like the way you showed. On android, don't have this issue, can't even access this webpage cause it has other ways to solve. So, i used my sister's iphone, and went to m.google.com/sync, and there the only thing that showed was Windows Mail, no calendar options =/
Tryed to resync, no luck, since different from mail app, it can't be done. You cand Add accounts, but not delete...
But, anyway, its a beta, probably things are gonna change in the near future
BTW, when windows phone 8.0 show up, my galaxy sII will have a mini heart attack, haha
thanks anyway

Hi,
Currently per Google's request for bandwith, Calendar App only Sync root calendar.
Developers on both sides are working on this issue to improve accessibility on this.
Thank you for using Windows 8 and your feedback.

i got my google calendar to work in sync with the calendar app for windows 8 if that is what you are asking i could explain? google calendar colors is another story though, can't replicate the color scheme on w8
he meant multiple calendars using the same account, currently the calendar will only show the primary calendar, it has no options to see the other calendars created under the same account, reason is in that quote of mine above

[Q] Google Calendar sync issues from desktop to N10

Android 4.4.3, build # KTU84L, rooted using NRT
I am unable to get my Google Calendars to sync with the N10. I've done an extensive search - see similar issues, but with different devices, and, solutions do not solve my issue. I am aware of the reverse-sync "confusion, clearing the cache / data, the native calendar distinction, etc", and that is not what I am referring to. I cannot sync from my desktop to the N10. Calendars don't even appear in the setup, for me to even be able to check them for syncing. I am set for syncing in Google, and am able to sync between PCs, but, . . .
Would appreciate help - Siberian Tiger, chrisd1a1, Divine_Madcat, Moscow Desire, zacthespack - I rely on my calendars, and would love to have this utility on the N10.
And, will the solution be applicable to KitKat as well?
Thanx much -
I had Google Calendar Sync installed - apparently it was unnecessary, and was competing with Google's dashboard sync. A fluke that I read a post online on Android, indicating that Google Sync was no longer viable. Went and installed, and, voila -
