Hero ROM database. Are there any? - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi all.
I'm happily using MoDaCo's mod.
I used to play with the Magic in the past and there is a nice website with a list of the available custom ROM for the G1.
Is there any similar web site for the Hero?
Do the Dream ROMs work on the hero? (n00b question, I do know!)

I think at the moment the only custom ROM available is the Modaco ones. Hence a ROM list isn't really needed as there is only one.
And nope Dream (G1) Rom's don't currently work on the Hero.

Thanks ofr the infos.
As I'm a kind of n00b for this "world", do you have any references to some technical documentation (like boot stack etc)?

... and what about those builds named "RogHero", "JACxHERO" and the likes?

They are still ROMs for the HTC Dream/Magic/Saphire.
Basically if it isn't in this sub-section of the Hero forum then it's not for your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=512
The phone is still very new, give it time and soon more and more people will be developing for it.

Cyanogen on HTC Hero possible?

Hello there,
I am currently running the MoDaCo rom (which is a lot faster than the stock version from HTC).
Is it possible to run a cyanogen rom on the HTC hero? I have read something about 32A and 32B versions and to be honest: I do not want to brick my phone the first two weeks I have it
Anyone?
Chris
i would like to second this, if some chef knows som'tin bout this??
It may be possible in the future but at the time of writing those ROMs won't work on our Hero's so I don't suggest trying it.
When the Hero has been out a bit longer we are likely to see a lot more development for it one here.
Best advice, sit tight.

The Best Custom ROM?

Hi,
Is there anything such as the BEST custom ROM? I'm a super n00b and I rooted and installed a custom ROM for the very first time without screwing up my Hero.
I seem to have a few minor issues with Modaco custom ROM.
I was just wondering if there are any other ROMs which are available for the HTC Hero and where I can get them.
Thanks.
Instead of looking for a different ROM for your Hero, consider posting in the Hero Modaco rom thread (sticky at hero.modaco.com), describing your issues to work towards a solution.
That is for sure. But I was wondering if there was anything apart from modaco.
HERO Kernel came out couple of days ago... so basically chefs started to make hero ROMs just now, so we'll have to wait
So bascially right now there is no alternative to the MoDaCo ROM?
V2.8 Modaco is by far the best especially when you install the latest radio and the 1.7 Kernel available on the Modaco website.

Advantages of getting a new ROM

Greetings.
I've been reading around the internet about all those ROMs floating around, and all i've found is it that the HERO ROM for the Magic should be great. Yet i can't see what the advantages of upgrading is. Could anybody please enlighten me?
The only advantage I see from upgrading to a hero rom is that you get the sense ui, and the ui runs faster on the magic than the g1.
Just a word of warning that bluetooth does not work on Hero roms, if you have a 32B Magic.
There are a lot of advantages though, root access being the main one which will allow you to do wifi tethering and access areas you would not normally be able to access, which is useful for taking backups and screenshots among other things. Custom roms here will (usually) also give you better performance than stock roms through compcache or using a swap file or swap partition on your sd card. Probably the biggest advantage IMO is getting to try out the latest available stuff for Android months before it gets pushed to you by your mobile carrier. There is no hint of a release date for Android 2.0 for HTC Magic yet but you can download a rom from here and try it out today if you wanted to.
I've read that the HERO ROM brings Flash to the Magic as well, is that correct?
And yet another question, i've got a danish Magic, 32A with HTC written on the backside, what HERO ROM should i use?

Need help with my magic!

Hi guys,
I was wondering if I could update the software (cupcake 1.5) of my HTC magic to the one on the HTC Hero. My girlfriend has it and she's always pushing me around because her's look more 'fancy'.
I looked it up on the net but couldn't find anything right away. I even checked youtube and I saw some people running the HTC hero rom (most likely another name but I'm new to this Android thing).
Thanks in advance, Skillandstyle!
There is donut roms for magic. Just check the dev section under magic.
i thought the htc magic had the official sense ui update?
MLIGN made a tut. about it on his website or you can root your phone and try out a hero rom.

Questions about ROMs

Hi,
at the moment I use a LG GT540 Optimus, with a modded Gingerbread ROM based on the latest CyanogenMod. Well, I'm looking for a new phone and I find the HTC Legend very nice.
Even I haven't got it yet (will buy one in the next weeks), I'm asking myself which is the best ROM. I know that the HTC Legend is official supported by the CM7.1. But why are there so may custom MODs with other kernels? Which are most famous ROM projects for the HTC Legend and what are there advantages?
Also I'd like to know which ROM runs most stable?
Thanks
Right now I am with ogo2's RC4b Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1+. Very beautiful ROM, also very fast, but still unstable ( random reboots, etc. ).
But still, I can offer you to go to the Development Area (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=610) and see the amount of available ROMS and read user's reviews
There is no such thing as the best Rom.
Try them and find out.
Every developer puys an effort to give a good Rom.
No point in this
