Anyone using imgfs tools on Wizard ROMs?

Has anyone here modified thier Wizard ROM with mamaich's imgfs tools? I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem and want to compare experiences.
The problem I have manifests itself as a strange font problem. If I take a virgin OS ROM, unpack it with imgfs tools and then pack it back up, the resulting ROM causes the fonts used in comm manager and the initial setup screens to display as Times New Roman (or similar) rather than Tahoma. The menus, Today screen etc all display properly.
Hi...I did try and used to dump the .nb file with all the files and modules the imgfs tools on wizard rom...it works flawlessly..but I hv not yet tried to delete or add files...
reg the font settings u can go to Universal WIki and check that out..
I hope this helps

Thanks for the reply hdubli. It's not so much a font setting as a font problem caused by dumping and then fixing with the imgfs tools. If I take an OS and dump it, then fix it without changing anything at all, the font issue appears.
You can see the font problem in the cut/paste context menus that appears in the initial setup screens, as well as in the comm manager. The font in those places should be Tahoma, but they appear to be Times New Roman. In a fresh ROM straight from a carrier the proper font is displayed in those places.
Hi there..
Let me first congratulate u on the splendid work on AKU 2.3 ROMs..well I hv understood yr issues...may u can compare the two dumps and check..

I'll give that a shot. Here's what I'll do to get the two dumps for comparison:
Dump 1 will be a dump of the OS portion as-is from the carrier
Dump 2 will be a dump of a ROM that has been dumped and fixed with no changes made
In theory they should be the same, but in the past I've noticed the size of the resulting nk.nbf is always smaller after using imgfs tools and then repacking.
hei summiter ,just to confirm,i got the same problem here as you.

extract a program from an eten rom

Hi, i'm a proud owner of a universal (qtek9000) i'm looking for the software "cyberion voice commander" (non speed dial) italian language, unfortunately does not exist an italian commercial version of this software(otherwise I would buy it ).
I've an italian Eten rom (.exe) that have this program in extended rom, someone can help me to extract this program without install the rom (I haven't an eten )
Thank you...
From memory (it's been a long time since I did this, so it might all be wrong), for the Eten roms, run the installer, and it'll extract to a temp\ folder (use a file i/o tracker, or check your temporary files folder for which folder).
In there, I think you should find one file that is marked something like extended or something, and that can be opened with a standard virtual disk editor like winimage. Extract from FAT.
V
as i read in eten-user forum I've initially extract " EUU.exe", "USBDLUpdate_console.exe", "upgrade.bat" i think that upgrade.bat is really the rom and maybe contains the extended rom.
Now what do you suggest me to extract the program from this .bat
thanks a lot
What rom are you working on? Do you have a copy we can have a look at?
Thanks!

rom 215 Ita for Eten M600 , maybe in eten ppc there isn't an extended rom...
You have pm with the link to the rom...
Another ppc that have a rom with voice commander in rom is asus p505...
Thanks again...
Hello.. So, did you find the way to extract voicecommander from the rom??
I have the rom file (temp.dat 59.611.764 byte)
If someone needs it, please tell me that I'm going to share it!!
Thanks
I have ROM 230wwe for the eten m600 if you need it...I would like to know also how to extract this EXTROM.
Thanks
Does anyone know a way to extract files from an eten rom dupm (temp.dat file used in the flashing process) ?

Download wizard service tool (do a search, it's on here somewhere) and it has an option to download your extended ROM to your computer and then you can do what you want with the files.

i found this app that allows you to edit WM 2003 nbf files (sadly it doesn´t work for 6.1 rom nbf):
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ER2003Edit
is there an other way to edit WM 6.1 images ?
(maybe i can drop them from the device in a format that can be open)

try this it works a treat and will help you understand thing a little more, Then you could read up on how to port it up a bit higher once you'v learnt how it works hope this helps be carefull when you CreatROM read the text in the dos window the "free sectors" !!!! 0??? To 0001 is good, 0001 been the full to the brim ! ( ffff???? ) is bad ! if bad do NOT flash to your device start buildOS again and unckeck something ealse read the readme or guide file carefully also explode has a kitchen out that's good search for kitchen on this site there's a assortment out there have fun REMEMBER be CAREFULL or you could brick your device however you edit a rom Most time if you screew up you can flash a 2003 shipped rom and alls well agian but if you flash a rom that's fare to big you will over wright your boot sector and that's NOT GOOD

I think I read some thing about dumping from the device ! But it's very complicated to do and if you get it wroung then it could damage your device Buzz-dev has a program called grabit see his site it copys the rom from the device to The SD CARD as a *.bin file then you dump that instructions are there, I have attached a zip i found on this site moded a bit for myown use it will dump BA or Hima put it in C:\ and right click it select extract here PS (you need winrar it's free just search xda site for it) My decompilers not complete but should give you some idear or how it works, You say u got explodes kitchen follow his instructions and build his rom when It says put your device in boot loader DON'T. Wait untill the build is finnished Press ctrl + C then look in upgrade folder and you should find an nk.nbf copy this to Swamp395Decompiler folder so you see it with PKGTool then double click BA_Disasemble.bat when that's finnished double click PKGTool.exe then "File" "open" from menu navegate to swampy395decompiler\dump click OK read screen then When that's finnished meun "tools""build packages" you should have some missing files if you look at the one called sys it should look simaler to explodes kitchen!! Then spend some time reading xda site good luck Remember the risk is all your bla bla no responcerbility ETC
I'm learning myself ! But if i can help i will, I'v been Building My own kitchen It's getting close but not got a booting rom yet but soon I HOPE
PPS pda viet rom Don't bump so well

It works !
i easily put the nk.nbf file in C:\Swampy395Decompiler\ and start BA Disassemble.bat
a dos window opened and dump the rom in C:\Swampy395Decompiler\dump
all files of the rom are now in this folder and i can edit them.
but i have still some questions:
-how can i make a rom out of the files in \dump ?
-how can i edit registry files ?
-is there a way to change the rom language ?
greetings from germany

Just a quick thought you'v got a kitchen and a rom built in that kitchen put the rom back together as it is in the kitchen IE copy the layout you'll find some *.rug files missing download athers himalaya kitchens and read the help and guid files on how to build a kitchen and use explodes kitchen as a referance see if you can put it back together without copying files out of explodes kitchen If you manage that then you should be able to make a higher build kitchen of your own good luck

How to extract CAB files from a ROM?

Hey there,
I have a ROM that I flashed onto my phone, and there are some CABs that installed after I started the phone for the first time that I would like to get out of the ROM.
What is the best way to do this, if it is even possible. Sorry if this has been asked before or if it seems like a noob question.
Surely someone can help me? I've searched and can't find anything =(
Well, first you can begin checking in your 'windows' folder and copy those *.cab files from there. I think including the panelmanager.cab even.
The other cab files are probably 'made' by some of the people here.
Is there a way to extract all the CABs from the ROM, when the ROM is still on my PC?
theres a new program by dutty that unpacks any nbh file..so im guessing u can extract d rom and look for the cab u want..
