Orange UK MMS settings
I spent nearly 6 hours yesterday trying to get my MMS messages to send using Orange using my HTC Hero! I looked through all of the sites on-line and all of the many settings that were suggested, from the Orange website itself to ones like this. I finally found the problem! As I was sat in my office at home, I was using my broadband connection via wireless to setup my email, etc and realised that you can’t send (or receive the picture part of) MMS messages over the data network if wireless is enabled!
The phone must be trying to use the wireless network to send the data as it would with other data and only turns to the phone 3G/G+/HSDPA network if no wireless is connected!

I am still strugling with this.
Has anyone cracked it yet?
I use EzWap 2.5 with Orange France configuration with no problems.
ArcSoft Mms don't send or receive any mms.
Trying to be helpful, but prolly not...
I don't know but I hope this helps:

I still cannot get this to work!
Does anyone have any ideas
I have got a copy of Ezwap but could not work out how to set it up

Limited success here with my XDA2. I've had it able to send with one configuration, and recieve with another, but I can't get both to work together. Would be nice if some M1000 users would come to the rescue with some detailed settings for thier MMS Network Settings & MMS App settings. I've tried calling Orange, and although they guys was helpful - he didnt have any "M1000" settings to share...
Also, is there a "Your Page" Orange homepage for the XDA2 that fits the screen? I'm using the one designed for smartphones at the moment which is alright, but kinda sucks since it doesnt take advantage of the screen area of the XDA2.
M1000 users, we need you to stop lurking and get replying! Share your settings please!
I'm having the same problems!
Exactly the same, talked to a nice lady at Orange, yet no help to me.
Hope someone might post the M1000 ext. rom file, as I heard all the settings are in there (and we may extract the cab files). Like sleepnow pointed out, I hope some M1000 users may come to the rescue.

I have heard that the M1000 doesn’t support MMS either. Something to do with the way the XDA type devices handle MMS is not compatible with Orange MMS network.
Hopefully this is just a rumour

This seems to be working for me, best of luck!
Crikey. I didn't realise so many people were trying to find out what the settings were... Mind you it took me a couple of days to figure it out! Glad to be of assitance
mine still doesnt work.
Can some one post their GPRS settings
(PAP or CHAP, Class 8 or 10)
cheers
ashby
The settings posted above *are* all the settings you need. I assume you have GPRS access enabled on your phone account, otherwise it will not connect.... Getting GPRS connection is the easy bit - getting MMS to work was the tricker part....
One of the Orange support people told me to change the ap/chap and class settings.= and I cannot remember what the defaults were
Can someone post me what their settings are
Cheers

I finally got the darn thing working on Orange MMS here in Denmark!!! However, setting it up was tricky, and a pain in da butt, as O denmark didn't provide any help and I had to figure all this out myself, with the help of all of you and various settings/setup guides and Orange IP/setup values given to me.
Here it goes: (I borrowed text from above )
Go to “Settings”, “Connections”

Check both boxes (connect to the Internet + this network uses a proxy server to connect - I have read this also elsewhere here on xda-developers.com)
Leave the field Proxy Server blank
Go into advanced settings
Fill in the following two Server fields so it all reads:

This setting works for Orange MMS here in denmark. I am sure they are already set for the M1000, but this may or may not be the case, as I spoke to Orange support... and they tried to convince me the M1000/XDAII/ QTEK 2020 doesn't work with mms yet, but it will work soon in the future. Not very helpfull. So I had to come here...
And, I must say, FORUM.XDA-DEVELOPERS.COM rules! I am very happy to have become a part of this enourmously helpfull forum. I actually got my Qtek 2020 approx. 14 days ago, after reading a lot of cool stuff in here. Later I realised the M1000 may have been a better buy, as I would have gotten an extra battery, and able to flash the rom to the new(er) dangaard one, and save a lot of money (almost € 200). However, I am still a happy camper, and find the xdaii a joy to use, with various tweeks and adjustments. Even installed some other cab files, not in the rom yet though, as I prefer using dealer distributed updates, so as not to loose my warrenty (but knowing me, I may do it eventually).
Anyway,
thanks for all the help so far and for this great forum. It is truly enourmous
I also hope others may benefit from the danish Orange settings... I will post them on a couple of danish forums, as no one has helped me there either, yet I came here first

MMS relay?
is it possible to relay mms through my company server?
does anyone know what ports or protocol this requires?
i have an exchange 2003 server i can use if it possible.. :?:
Slightly OT - Orange World
Chaps - sorry for being slightly off topic.
Im an O2 user about to go elsewhere, mostly to get a better GPRS inclusive deal.
One of the options Im considering Orange, but never been with them before, so would like your advice:
1. Does Orange World (3 or 5) actually give me true data for browsing, or is it WAP (as the blurb indicates)
2. If it is true data, can I take this and do a bolt on of GPRS 3 or 7 to up my inclusive data?
TIA
Off Topic - Orange World
It is probably too late to help you choose networks now but ...
I'm on Orange UK and as far as I know Orange World itself is just wap but the gprs bundles you get with Orange enable you to browse the web without using Orange World. I hope that makes sense.

Long running argument between users.
But as a user, let me clarify that for ME at least, Orange World is NOT only for GPRS WAP, but internet, email, messenger, etc.
Orange have stated that this is correct.
HTH.

it's nearly to do with Vodafone GPRS/MMS....

Hi all, sorry to bother you with this one!
I got my O2 XDAII unlocked and used it with no drama at all with my Vodafone SIM. I then put the GPRS settings in and it worked fine with MSN Messenger and IE etc. I then put the MMS settings in and started sending and receiving picture messages perfectly.
The problem, i hear you ask....
Well, I got TomTom 3 and a program called POI Warner which is used to alert me of POI's (read, speed cameras  ) and it wanted to connect to the Internet to update it's database. It always used to try once i'd dropped the XDA in the cradle. As something wasn't right somewhere, it used to lock up the XDA until it gave up trying and then it would release the XDA so that i could use it again. This all seemed to be because of the Activesync passthrough settings. :?
I set them as I should have (after reading on here what to do - thanks!) and then it worked fine. Still with me...??????
It seems that i can't send picture message anymore
I have all the settings from the other posts on here but somehow, my settings in the connections screen have gone loopy.
Can someone on Vodafone PLEASE PLEASE let me know what settings they have in the connections screen, be it two sets (My Work Settings and another) or (Vodafone GPRS and Vodafone MMS - as i used to have). And when you click the advanced tab at the bottom of the connection screens, which programs do you have for 'Programs that connect to the internet should use' and programs that connect to a private network should use'???
when you edit either of these, it comes up with ANOTHER connection screen - what you have got in there??
This is on top of the Server mentioned in the MMS composer screen that needs another mention of the same server in there!!!
If I can get this working with someone's help , I hereby promise to take a screenshot of every screen I have and put an idiots guide to getting this working up on the Web should I need it again!!
thanks in advance Guys!!
Firstly to clean things up a bit it'd look in the registry under [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations] and remove all but:
'The Internet'
'Work'
'My Work Network' - or whatever it was renamed to
'My ISP' - or whatever it was renamed to
Then resetup all the connections.....
Here are the settings I have, which work perfectly.
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
Vodafone Internet (My ISP renamed)
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:
Vodafone Live! (My Work Network renamed)
Settings:
Vodafone Internet
Under modem...
Name: Internet GPRS
modem type: Cellular Line (GPRS)

Name: Vodafone Live! GPRS
modem type: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
User name: wap
Password: wap
No extra settings under advanced
Under Proxy Settings...
Both boxes ticked.
Under Advanced...
WAP: 212.183.137.12 : 9201
MMS Settings:
Connect via: Vodafone Live!
Under Servers...
Vodafone MMS - just what I called it (should only be one in there)
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
Port number: 9201
Server address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
& I put my sending size as 100K - but its your choice.

A few newbie questions

I'm in the UK and have got hold of a new O2 DXA Mini S.
I'm on the Orange Network in the UK and the unit works fine in everyway except for sending mms messages.
I can make call and send/receive texts but not mms messages.
Someone told me it was to do with the fact that even thought its unlocked there is a default setting in the rom with it being an O2 branded unit and the only way to be able to be able to send/receive mms messages would be to reflash it. Is this correct?
Secondly, yesterday I noticed on the 'TODAY' screen that I had a battery status notification that has now disappeared - all I have done is to remove some software from the remove programmes section - there was one entry in there that looked like it was something to with O2 settings.
Butr I cannot find a way of getting the battery status onto the 'Today' screen now.
Or are there any free progs about that I can install that will do the same thing ?- it seemed quite useful to have it on front screen.
I have somehow managed to get rid of all the O2 branded stuff from the phone - was the battery status on TODAY screen part of that?
Thirdly my friend has a unit and on the TODAY screen by the date, the day also is shown - eg thursday 23 november
all I can get is the date. Cannot find anyway of putting the day name onto the TODAY screen.
Lastly is there a way of restoring the unit to how it was as it came out of the box?
There were two setup options when I first turned the unit on - one was for O2 customers which I accepted, as I knew it would work with an Orange SIM - the other option was a more customised option - someone has told me I should have probably selected this in order to be able to send mms messages on my own network.
Thanks
Sorry for the confusing post
mms settings
in my opinion you should make a new connection.
let orange send you the settings.
this should solve this
I've got the orange settings but it won't let me send or receive mms.
I can send text and browse internet through Orange but I've noticed there is a default O2 setting within the mms settings that the system won't let me delete.
I imagine the rom would need to be reflashed??
Or does anyone know a way of using the orangemms service on an O2 phone with an orange sim in it?
Add a new server in the mms configuration and call it orange.
Make sure it has these settings
Orange MMS settings
Access Point Name: orangemms
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 192.168.224.10
Port: 9201 (some users have reported 8080 works if 9201 doesn't)

and if I try and set up one in the section : Settings/Connection / My work network and choose
select a modem: cellular line ( gprs)

and leave rest blank
and select use server assigned ip address
This is what orange told me to do
It doesn't work either.

Have orange set up your account to send and receive mms?
TMo's US settings for what they are worth

Picture messaging is T-Mobile Wireless' optimized version of Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). Picture messaging service is pre-configured on devices sold by T-Mobile. To use this service, you must be a valid T-Mobile customer.
Customers who purchased their device and network service from T-Mobile or an approved T-Mobile vendor are entitled to free Customer Care support.
Persons wishing to use T-Mobile's picture messaging service from a non-T-Mobile device must configure the device according to the settings below. Again, T-Mobile Customer Care will only provide support for devices that it sold.

Well if I put sim into my samsung d900 - i can send and receive pics ok.
They get sent ok - and if someone sends me a p[icture it just arrives with a text
( I don't have to download it or anything )
And on the O2 mini s I can do everything but send mms - ( text, calls, internet, wireless, gprs all work ok )
If I send a picture to mini s from another phone - I get text notification but it is unable to download it.
A friend has same O2 mini S on Orange network with same problem. A guy in Orange shop told him it is something to do with the ROM being made for O2 ??
I'm intersted to see if anyone in UK is using an O2 mini s on the Orange network and are able to send receive mms??

MMS Settings (Cyprus)

I spent a long time with CYTA's customer service trying to get the correct mms settings. So, to save other Kaiser and P3600 owners in Cyprus from all the trouble, here they are:
MMS options
Servers
server name: cytamobile
gateway: 212.31.96.161
port number: 9201
server address: http://mmsc.cyta.com.cy
connect via my isp
settings
connections
connections
my isp
new isp
name: mms gprs
modem: cellular line (GPRS, 3G)
access point name: cytamobile
usename: user
password: pass
advanced
server
use specific server address: 195.14.130.186
I hv been trying myself as well the same; the only difference I found on my attempts was the server setting which obviously made a difference and allowed me to send an mms.
However I didn't manage to receive the mms (i sent it to myself) since it says 'error synchronizing'.
To add my two cents, you hv to send an sms to 8000 number writing 'on mms' (w/o the quotes).
Also, if you want to use internet connection with your pda thru gprs/3g and you don't have any subscription (we are still talking about cyta - the local carrier) you can use for your connection the access point 'internet' w/o any user or pass.
yeap. you have to activate the mms option either by calling customer services, or by sending the text as you ve suggested, or by logging on to cytamobile-vodafone

Running Miri_WM65_21889_Premium_Manila_2.5_V18.0
On O2 PAYG
I have received picture MMS, I can view the text message ok, but not the picture.
Keeps asking to download picture, then obtain a failure message.
All settings appear to be ok, have checked that MMS settings are in place.
Is there anything else to check or need to change?

Just ensure you have data connections active. Sometimes people have them switched off using apps like nodata etc so data cannot connect.
Data is def. on.
I have tried a Virgin SIM, that functions correctly.
The O2 SIM functions correctly in another phone.
I believe that the PAYG settings are different to pay monthly.
I contacted O2, they cannot supply the correct settings.
Have you tried the payandgo setting ?
O2 MMS settings
The o2 MMS settings can be sent direct to your mobile. Go to www.o2.co.uk/services/ota4/select. Alternatively, the settings are:
Access point name: wap.o2.co.uk (contract customers) or payandgo.o2.co.uk (pay-as-you-go customers)
Username: o2wap (contract customers) or payandgo (pay-as-you-go customers)
Password: password
Authentication: Normal
Data bearer: GPRS
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 193.113.200.195

Have tried receiving the settings from O2, this is the result.
Unfortunately, we are not able to process your settings request at this time. Please contact Customer Service or your account manager to discuss further options.
The settings that you supplied are similar to what I have for MMS.
In the HD it is shown as O2 active and under the connect via: there are several options....O2 active...mobile web...Proxy internet...My work network...My ISP....Work
By trial and error I downloaded all the pics by connecting to My work network
P.S. settings are in post#17 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=590753&page=2
It is very confusing, why can't O2 just send or configure the correct settings as do Virgin.
Also all the pics are very small, I believe this is another O2 error, as once again the HD is not recognised, a known issue.
A registry hack is required.??
Don't know if this thread can help
