Any ROM is gonna be good. It's personal oppinion.
At least tell us what you're looking for!! How should we know what you want? Lol. Just tell us an idea of what you want in your ROM.

If you are asking will your phone scream ATT or Cingular, NO it will not. Will the Hermes ROMS install and work much better on the 8525 than the shipped ROM, YES it will! You will need the keyboard install cab to get the key mappings correct though.
Yes, you'll need the Cingular Keyboard cab though... do a search or it's likely on the wiki

WHOAH There buddy.
ROMS are really dependant on the user and the programs that they are using.
If you want an official cingular rom, look for the ones with Cingular as the retailer. the benefit of these is all your data, mms settings and such are all done for you, the bad is they are loaded with all sorts of crap and are slow. If you want something a little different then take a look around from one of our cooked roms, each has its own falvors and options you are just gonna have to read and stop being so demanding.

I'm currently back on the HTC ROM but I would assume you can still run any of the home replacements from the market (or just the default android one) on MoDaCo.
do you know any good ones?

It's really a preference thing, there's no harm in installing any one of them and seeing if you like'em. Sense really is the better fit for me.
Some of the major ones are:
- OpenHome
- aHome
-dxTop
- PandaHome
...that's just off the top of my head some of the ones I've tried. They each have some cool and unique things about them.
Once i figure what can me skinned and how i will be making themes. Not sure if i will post any, as i must have made at least 100 themes for S2U2 for personal use when i had my WinMo phones. If i did do one to post it would more than likely be a Danbo (Danboard) theme.
I just discovered that little guy and i already outfitted my chompSMS with several wallpapers of him.

aHome Lite made my Hero so laggy i could hardly use it. It took me like 10 minutes just to get it uninstalled.
Also, when i was searching for OpenHome i couldnt find the actual program, only themes. Anyone know the official app name?
lol if you figure out how to make a theme you should defiently make me one

I didn't have much trouble with aHome, odd.
Any home replacement will be difficult to find on the market if there's a bunch of themes with the name in it sadly.
I almost forgot a few more too:
- Freshface
- GDE (though I don't know if this one is out yet)
As for OpenHome, fire up that barcode scanner and go here:
http://www.androidtapp.com/open-home/ It has QR codes to scan and will take you straight to the market app.
which one do you think looks the best? and is the fastest

I thought I recognized you from PPCG!
I used to have a Diamond and even made a few ROMs using some of the great kitchens available. It would be awesome if there were some kind of kitchen for the Hero. Hell, I might even give it a try then...just don't tell my wife, she thinks I quit cooking.
lol you got the hero too?

There is a kitchen, its called Android SDK and you can use it with eclipse. all you need to do is go grab the source from htc and compile it the way you want to and load it up with eclipse. or the android emulator. there is other steps but thats what google is for. i am working on my own rom right now. cant wait till its done. i am wondering how fast a bone stock rom would run.
I would be ur number one fan for a bone stock Android with hero support. I'd even go as far as to say it would be the base most custom roms are based off of.
I'm not a programmer but if u go through with this is there any way to twist cryogen's work into it? He gets great reviews and the update utility is pretty pimp

Alright!
Hi new here. Just got an htc hd2 locked to tmobile. I have done the hardspl ok but now I want to get rid of all the tmobile branding.
I am not sure about the custom roms as want it to look like it does now. What rom do I need to make it look like a standard unbranded hd2 as if it was a sim free model?
Had a good look but just dont know which one to get.
Cheers
Simon.
There is a stickied thread at the begining of the HD2 rom development page, where all the official roms are stored. Although i would personally go for a cooked rom with the speed increase and bug fixes, there are some that dont look any different than a stock rom.

remember you'll have to get the phone's SIM lock off as well as a ROM flash won't get rid of this. you can either get th code off T-Mobile or use one of the pay for service found on the web

Yeah code just been emailed not 5 mins since so unlocked now. Its just the wife wants rid of the tmobile stuff. A cooked rom that looks like stock is what she is after especially if they have less bugs and faster etc. It would be good to have a larger keypad too as its a tad small.
I'd say get the one I'm running (CleanEx - see my sig) pretty much stock but with all the crap removed - very good, fast ROM
remember to flash the radio in my sig first, though

"crap" - Programs that no one wants or uses like co-pilot, any programs that are missing you can find most in cab format to reinstall on this forum.

Thats cool. I have tomtom to go on it which works anyhow but only has 4 digit postcode? Trying to find great britain postcode files that are 7 digit but to no avail as yet!
She dont like the way it looks, says it too sparse. Can you recomend another? Says things like weather pics etc have gone.
If you want as good as it gets then I'd take a look at Miri's WM 6.5 ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=607437
Or Dutty's HG ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610634
Ran both myself for a while and both are very good, cutting edge ROMs without all the rubbish that you'll never use
Thanks mate I will check them out. I have Artemis on at the moment which looks nice.

LOL it was just a request.
someone might like it enough to port it
but good luck with that..
those apps will not work for us, and besides your asking for somthing illegal.... like the taco man said if you want them than port them yourself. not trying to be mean but i dont think anyone is going to port those for you.

I wish it was easier to make a ROM. I've tried looking around to figure it out, but its tough. There are some really nice ROMs out there, but nothing that is exactly like what I want (and I'm sure others feel the same). The resources are out there, but it takes a lot of digging and it's not all that easy to understand.
its not really all that hard to grab a rom unpack it add what you want to /data/app/ than repack and resign.
Look around for signing tools, if your on windows you can use this.
Did i read it wrong ? I thought he wanted those apps removed...
But I definitley want to start learning how to start cooking roms ...... but i know nothing aboutdoing it ....so i am reading and reading and reading........
I tried porting a Rom but it wouldn't boot. its a lot harder than I thought as well.

Try Artemis ROM. Very fast, stable and close to stock ROM philosophy and updating very frequently. Oh, and BTW also very battery friendly!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580

BTW why should someone change ROM? What is the advantage of changing ROM? I'm really happy with my stock ROM. I have apllied Cookies Home Tab manilla Mod and I think my Phone is perfect now.
Is it really that bis advantage?
I mean i can add apps by myself, Themes and Designs can also be applied by myself.
Is the boost really that big of customs roms?

Custom ROMs get rid of carrier bloatware and provides built-in eye-candy (so you don't have to do everything yourself). Chefs also (usually) add their own tweaks/speed boosts that really optimize performance.
I'm sure others can provide more examples of how a custom ROM benefits over a stock ROM.
