Well what do you expect from a low-end phone? It fits a niche below the Diamond 2 and Pro 2.

i wouldn't call it a low end phone. most of us still use the vogue and it's still a great phone, not slow at all.

Its labeled with the sprint name so i would say it has a good shot.
But we did see the touch pro 2 come out on t-mobile and there was no touch pro.

twDragon: Where did you get this specs? Because it is not Iolite.
It's a fake chinese touch cruise 09. Its external appearence is 90% similar to original BUT inside it's different. There's WM 6.1 intalled. The display is not bright enough, the sound is not loud enough and there's no touch floor 2d at all. Never buy such fake phone.
T4242 clone
I bought a similar phone, T4242 clone. The only difference is it has a Marvell PXA300 CPU.
It was probably a mistake, because it is basicly a Windows mobile phone, which looks like Touch Cruise 09, but without all the nice software feautures.
It would be nice to know how to set it up to load Touch flow menu/Today screen etc. If some has figured out what & how, please post results here to help us.
Some of us dont understand all the jargon, and need to be explained in plain english.
Would appreciate any help/advice
if i'm going to be running SPB Shell 3.0, why would i care about flow3d or whatever it is from HTC?
need to replace my current Polaris and i am really digging the Iolite (TC09).
might just pick up one of these knock-offs and save a few bucks on software i don't need or use.
that's funny, a Marvell processor is usually delivered with HP iPaq's...

Your call but I'd be very wary of these clones. As with cloned ipods, memory cards, Li Ion batteries, etc you usually are not getting anywhere near the same quality and durability as the original and definately less support than the real thing. They fail at a higher rate than the real thing. There is a reason they sell for the prices they do and often turn out not to be worth the price they were sold for. These bargains often turn out not to be when things wrong.

yeah, after reading this thread and thinking about it, i'm going to get the real McCoy
how can you tell that it's fake?
looking to buy a touch cruise 09, but darn, there are so many fake ones out there. how can you tell that it's fake or not, other than that the cpu is faster and it doesn't have 2g? but that would be after I receive it though. thanks.
Check the cpu speed, it is your best shot.
I have seen no clones with the original 528MHZ processor, but instead with
T4242 with WM6.5 by default should be clones too.
They come most of the time with a spare battery.
They may alter the name like "HTC T4242+"...
Also low price can tell that it's a clone.
hi, i bought the same phone.......it is a fake...help... i cannot flash via usb but i know that
it could be flashed via sd card. do you know something about it?
help me please.....

Worth it to get a g1 now?

I work at Radioshack and im looking to quit soon and i just just found out that we're going to be carrying t-mobile. I currently have a sprint vogue and im tired of a non hardware keyboard device. Would it be wise to get the g1 or the mytouch? Any advice will be welcome.

I wouldnt base my decision on that fact, the truth is the G1 doesnt have as much memory as the future android phones. Which means less features because not enough room for the new ROM's.
If i was in your situation i would wait till the end of the year to see what is released.
Personally haven't hearing the news that was told i wouldn't get a g1 now n get a touch instead or just wait on quiting till the new Android comes out

HD2 running on mtk os

Hi,
Well, to keep it short, I've been told by a friend in china that he can get me a htc hd2, but running on MTK OS instead of wm6.5, first i hesitated as i though it might be one of this ****ty clones that china produce, but he told me that it's from the main manufacturer whom already in china, maybe they produce it with this mtk with a good price due to high wm license prices...
I really like this phone but here in Egypt the price is almost 2.5X it's original price, so i thought i might get it and install wm6.5 on it instead of mtk, of course if it possible, so i need your opinion guys about this idea???!!!!!! and i would never find any place better that here for this matter....

thanks' in advance,

sounds like a bad rip-off to me.. .
why don't you get your friend to send it to you, then if its good pay him?
If he's a friend surely he'll do that?
otherwise if it sounds to good to be true then it's going to be too good to be true..
I'd steer clear
3MP camera? Should be 5MP if its genuine. Also apps like peep or footprints are winmo apps so wouldn't work on mtk
yea, maybe you'are right,,,
i will tell him to send it to me, in my hands i will know if it's a genuine or a f***** damn clone(sorry, i just hate those Chinese clones),,,
the price is $250 by the way,,,
but if so,,,is it still possible to load the original rom and wm6.5 to it?????

probably not.. unless it's 100% genuine..
if you could ask him to send some photo's of this device i would be interested. if i'd really turns out to be a authentic hd2 (what i honestly doubt verry much) its a great deal!
As far as I know, HTC only has manufacturing plants in Taiwan and Brazil. I have not heard that the company has set up any plants in China. My information may be outdated, but I checked on the web about this just a few weeks ago.
My guess is that it is a fake, and that the quality would be very much suspect.
And that MTK OS is pretty much exclusively used by Chinese phones - I'd see no reason to see it on an HTC device.

You are quite right. HTC only produces phones using Android, the Brew® Mobile Platform, or Microsoft's mobile platform. The MTK OS is popular in China, and part of it is it can be set up to look like an original, without the functionality.
MTK is actually the processor name, short for Media Tek. Try google "T8585 MTK HD2" and you will find some info regarding the latest model. I read somewhere the latest update even have multitouch capacitive WVGA display. BTW, it is quite a good clone, running updated public domain WM6.5 ... and cost a fraction of the real thing. I wonder if anyone is doing a homebrew for this?
BTW, beware that some sellers might post wrong specs... its running dual Core, MTK6516 ARM9 460MHz (applications) + 280MHz (phone), RAM: 256 MB / ROM: 512 MB, dual sim and no 3G ... unless they release a new update.
