Hi guys. sorry if im being ignorant but i cant seen to find a proper guide on how to partition my class 6 sd card correctly.
i have rav1.2.0g recovery image which alows me to partition the card 3 ways but it doesnt seem to be right. is the card after partitioning meant to be assigned different drive letters? or is it only meant to show as one complete partition. also, do i partition after flash or before?
sound like an idiot but id like to be sure what im doing
any help appreciated. thanks
bump!! no takers?
in rav 1.2.0g, all you would have to do is select from the two format options in the image... you can either select from fat32 + ext + swap for apps2sd, or just plain fat32 if you do not want to utilize apps2sd (some roms do not support installing without apps2sd)...
i can verify that it works just fine for both format options...
If you're using Windows, you will still only see one drive and it will probably still have the same drive letter.
2 of the 3 partitions are formatted in a format Windows does not understand (ext3 and Linux swap) so it does not present them in Windows Explorer. If you use some sort of partition editing program you will be able to verify the partitions exist and are the right size etc. If you've used amon_ra's recovery tool to partition your SD card you should be OK, it's what I used and it worked perfectly for me.
Okay after many attempts and tries I've finally decided to ask for some help.
I originally partitioned my card with gparted. Everything seems to be fine but when I put my card into the phone it says that it's a wrong format and that I need to reformat. Anyone know how I can get past this? Or is there another easier way to partition the card?
don't know what gparted means... i'm assuming you're talking about goldcard, and if so, go into your recovery image (you said you have cyan's) and it has a format option in there...
btw, theres like 2 or 3 posts in this sub forum on the first page that answer your question... search a little bit better before you risk getting banned ><
Gparted is ubuntu's partition manager.
Your partitions should look like the following (mines a 8gb sdcard)
Linux swap (32mb)
Ext3 (500mb)
Fat32 (everything else)
ahh excuse my mistake... you may want to try a 40mb swap partition, i found that to be best without as much of a slow down
Ok so I know the rule of not asking something thats been explained and I have spent the past two days researching this subject but I'm missing a few steps I believe.
So I am looking to put an EXT4 partition on my SD card and so far I have made it far enough to make a bootable USB with GParted which did allow me to format the stick in EXT4 however I'm getting an error that it needs a second partition so Im just a little bit confused.
I'm going to do more research and probably go back into GParted to see if I find any other options for EXT4 partitioning but if someone whos already done this could shed a lil light and speed this process up a bit I would be hella grateful!
Thanks in advance,

from my understanding you need to create a linux swap file etc. you need to create 3 partitions one for swap and ext 4 then rest as is. after creating linux swap and ext partitions you then change properties of the ext 2 to 4. check in the hd2 forum for more info. i would use sdcard formatter to return sdcard to original values during format and then use gparted to create magic you are after.
Moving to General.
PS: Every Q? thread should be posted in General.
Well....I have some problem here and I don't know how to fix it.
I installed CM7 to my SD card using the Verygreen method and the size agnostic 1.3 image, and can boot into CM7, and also installed GApps, and can boot into CM7.
The only problem is that out of my 16GB, only 400MB or so is active.
I installed Mini-Tools Partition Wizard to try and make Partition 4 take up the rest of the space, but I don't know how to do it.
I can't seem to get the 4th partition to over write whats on Partition 2 and 3...partition one is obviously the boot partition.
I don't know what to do....please help!
OMG I'm an idiot.
I was looking at system space, and not SD card storage from CM7.
Been racking my brain for hours about this, and yeah...just complete fail on my end.
What do you try to do? R u all set or still need help?
Yeah I'm good thanks.
I was wondering why I was only seeing 400MB on the Nook Color, but I wasn't looking at the SD Card, I was looking at the internal memory or something.
I found all the space under storage and space.
ok people i really need your help on this one i accidentally reasize a partition in my internal sdcard and i cannaot reasize it again what i need to know is if there is any program for windows that would allow me to see all my internal partitions and modify them
i imagine i can do it with ubuntu but im having a hard time mounting my iconia to ubuntu
besides that my tablet boot normally i just dont have the same amount of memory available because is being use in another partition
please whoever can help ill appreciate it thanks
I got this prob too 126mb, do u know how it happened?
