My HTC diamond 2 is not responsive to touch screen capability. The buttons work, and the screen itself is showing the main program. I tried the soft reset several times, and a hard reset - both didn't work.
Please advise. Thank you!
you are so lucky as me,... i'm going to send it now to the SAT
I had the same issue where the "blob" appeared and my screen became unresponsive.
I had to use a piece of selotape to "pull apart" the top and the screen which got it back for me but HTC are collecting the device to sort out the issue long-term

The touch screen responds to continuous taps even when I don't tap it. When the keyboard is slid out, the start menu keeps on popping as if the start button on screen is being tapped. When keyboard is slid inside (device is closed), the device behaves as if the OK button (the "X" on top right) is being tapped continuously. Due to this, I can't open any program. (As soon as a program is opened, the "X" button on top right is automatically clicked and I reach Home screen again!
I uploaded a video about this mal-functioning of device:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWAyRLQ01oo
I have already:
1. Alligned screen
2. Hard reset device (Left and Right softkeys + Reset button)
3. Updated ROM and hard reset device
but of no use! Please help.
I haven't heard of a software problem causing what you're seeing on your phone. And a hard reset should have cleared that if this was the case.
Do you have a screen protector applied? If so then make sure it doesn't reach under the cover round the screen. Maybe some dirt got in between the screen edge and the cover?
If the phone is under warranty then just take it to the service centre.
maybe you have a warped case...the flexing might cause the touchscreen bezel to make contact with the screen. it may flex differently when opened/closed.
what happens if the slide is 1/2 open?

This is the most likely explanation and there was an identical case reported in this forum somewhere.
Mike
Even when its half open, the OK ("X" on top right) keeps clicking.
I'm using the same case that came with JasJam. Have attached a screen protector to the screen. Could that be the cause of problem?
I contacted imate support. They asked me to send the device. Hopefully, the problem should be solved...

before you send it in, remove the screen protector and try it again. even if it doesn't work, i wouldn't send it in w/the screen protector on anyway...
Wow! Seems the device has problems with heating up! Found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285062
Solution: Send it back!
I had to send it back to service center. They replaced the main board! The device seems to be working fine now.
hi, i'm a new owner and there are a few things that are bugging me and i'm not sure if it's normal or if it's problematic.
-the start menu pops up sometimes when i slide out the keyboard. is this normal?
-the device can only be charged when the usb is connected to my computer, but not when the usb is connected to an ac adapter.
-keys are mixed up (i supposed because of the Japanese keyboard layout, and i think i saw a fix for this)
when sliding out the keyboard, it takes about 6-8 seconds to adjust from portrait to landscape(with the start menu popping up when going to landscape).
-is it normal for the touchscreen to be completely unresponsive when the keyboard is slid out?
-the touchscreen is completely unresponsive sometimes while the keyboard is hidden and i have to either press random buttons or slide the keyboard in and out to get response back.
sorry for my noobishness and thanks in advance.
ok i've managed to solve the keyboard layout problem and i guess the delay is typical,. but the following problems/issues still exist:

Hi ji1386
I'm afraid that does not sound good. I have seen at least two other cases where the keyboard being slid out causes the start menu to pop up. It was concluded that pressure is being put on the touch sensitive screen by the mechanism. This is a hardware issue and can also show as programmes suddenly closing for no ovvious reason and I think this may also be responsible for the touch screen not responding when keyboard open. In summary pressure on the touch sensitive screen somewhere when there should not be.
If the device is under warranty I'd go for an immediate replacement. Perhaps just before doing so I would try a HARD reset just to be sure.

No it's not normal. The screen should respond as normal. For example when using word, even with the keyboard ou you should still be able to tap for the soft keyboard, tap on bold, centre, tap in text to inser a word etc etc.
If you can't I think it's because the keyboard mechanism is somehow putting pressure at some point on the screen i.e the same issue as the start menu popping up. If a hard reset does not cure this then it's a repair job or replacement under warranty I'd say.

thanks mike for all your help.
More bad news...since yesterday, the touch-screen no longer responds at all...completely unresponsive to tap or touch. I've tried hard/soft reseting and still got nothing...
I have however managed to get it to charge through a wall outlet. but it's a bit buggy...
Unfortunately, I bought this phone used locally and the guy isn't responding to any of my phone calls/emails, but whatever karma will come back to haunt him...I was thinking about taking this to a small claims court, but i dunno how to go about doing so and if my case will hold up...
anyway, I've had to take it to a repair shop. They said they'd order in a screen and replace it for $150 cad and it should fix it, if not a diagnosis charge of 20 bucks...
this should bring the total cost of this phone to $725cad...great...
Hopefully it solves all my problems. I'm guessing the start menu problem and the touch responsiveness problems get solved after this.

I certainly hope it works out ok. Changing the screen assumes (possibly correctly) that the screen is at fault. If the screen is fine just getting pressure put on it somewhere then it will be a bit of luck whether it solves problem or not. A key problem here is that the screen is sensitive to touch, even on the area under the bezel - which of course is absolutely daft. Combine this with the fact that there is not a lot of room for heat expansion and the slide out keyboard can cause minor distortions in the casing and you have potential for a certain percentage of devices to have problems. Thankfully now far less than early models but still being reported.
Good Luck
Mike
Took it to a repair shop this week. Opened it up and looks like a damaged flex ribbon cable (possibly from sliding out the keyboard or just a faulty cable) is the culprit behind the unresponsive touchscreen.
Apparently those are impossible to find (if not very hard). i live in Canada where parts for these phones are quite scarce, so I'm not too sure what i should do. The guy said he could try to find a replacement part, but it'd take almost a month.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention it to let anyone with unresponsive touch screens know. I guess just add this to the list of possible causes.
how did you fix keyboard layout problem
Ji1836,
Can you please let me know how you solved the keyboard layout problem.
I also have a softbank X01HT with a japanese keyboard layout. I have upgraded to WM6 BLACK 2.5. But some keys are mixed up like the dot and comma and others as well. I tried the fixes in the wiki but nothing worked.
Aprreciate your help.

Hi everyone! im new to the forum So Ello everyone))) I,v had my wizard fr a month now and it was fine untill screen alignment become bad so i press on button and button next to it opened. Because of this i have clicked on Screen Align to align the screen but it started to loop (( dont know why because touch screen it self works perfectly. So what i supposed to do to align my screen? im using my phone by keyboard now because i just cant press any button on screen because it needs alignment. THX to anyone who has read this.
The wizard doesn't like being kept in a pants pocket. If you press with your finger firmly, running it all around the edge of the screen, that might cure the temporary insanity. Otherwise, set it aside (not in your pocket) for several minutes and try again. I got a leather belt case for mine to cure this issue.
If I'm guessing right, the first problem was that the touchscreen seemed to be very weird, so you tried to re-align it, and it always fails.
noup the problem was that i have bought the phone about 3 weeks ago it was working but when i tried screen alignment it just started to loop. I pressed it about 50 times(them 5 crosses) i dont know what to do (( because screen alignment now is crap (to exit screen alignment i need to get off battery and put it back)
I've searched a good bit and wasn't able to find any information regarding the exact problem I'm having.
Bought a used G6 for starters
No water damage indicated by the sticker
The phone works great on the home screen and app drawer
I turned on dev mode to show touches
When you're in the camera it will stop responding to touches, you can still take pictures using the side buttons. The screen will become responsive again after a couple minutes. This whole time you can take pictures and the screen is functioning just not responding to touch
This happens also when you're loading web pages, even a Google search the screen will stop responding to touch and then eventually start responding again for a short while till you load another page or start moving around the page too quickly it seems. However again the screen is functioning, video previews are playing, just no response to touch.
Loading a game like Asphalt 8 the phone doesn't respond to touches until a couple minutes after the game has been fully loaded.
Even after a hard reset/factory reset the screen will sometimes be unresponsive upon the initial welcome/setup screen and then it will become responsive and you can go through the whole setup without an issue.
Any insight? Any suggestions? If I can't figure it out I'll just get rid of it but it's in great condition a shame it just doesn't function properly.
Thanks in advance!
Looks like some sort of hardware issue...
But before you start to worry...
This might sound like a stupid question but have you tried cleaning your screen with some cleaning solutions?
Sometimes dust mixed with dried sweat can cause severe touch responsiveness issues even if the screen looks like it's clean.
This is an older thread, but maybe I can help someone.
I replaced a touchscreen on a LG G6 and saw that the touchscreen did not work if the back cover was not mounted correctly and the data transfer between the phone and the fingerprint sensor was interrupted. This may be a common problem for users because the connector is small and the back cover is attached with a double-sided tape nearby this connector. It seems that the touch screen is disabled by the phone software without the back cover.

Thank you so much for this comment!
My gf phone had problems lagging and becoming insensitive to touch, the problem got worse and worse, almost never responding anymore. Performed a factory reset etc, didn't help.
After reading your comment I tried pushing on the back cover while swiping. Now I'm able to revive the phone after pushing hard on the top and bottom left corners, of the back cover.
Thanks a mille !
Lg g6 has back panel from glass and under it you have contact for fingerprint sensor.Somehow if the back panel is loose it can cause touch fail, and you cant use the device touch function!
--->FIX:
So you will have to turn screen off using back button, and then try to press back glass on left and right side of the camera lens !
Then simultaneously press the power button and try to use the touch .
If it does not work tru again around camera lens and turn off screen each time you press the back glass!
For me it worked !
