I use Telenav and Dashboard Plus a lot, so I like to have a windshield mount for my phone. I did have some cheap universal one that recently broke, and I'd like to take that opportunity to ditch the bulky universal mounts and pick up a nice one custom-fit to the HTC Magic.
Does anybody know if such a product actually exists? I was hoping that T-Mobile would release one since they released a whole slew of myTouch 3G accessories, but they don't seem to have a windshield mount in their lineup. I've found a few custom-fit G1 mounts, so it seems reasonable that the Magic should have a few of its own, but I just keep coming up empty handed.

If the URL doesn't work, just head to proclipusa.com and search for the MyTouch 3G. They appear to have a decent selection of options.

As much as I love my Athena, I gotta sell it. I'm working in construction, and i'm too scared to wear on my hip at the jobsite. When i'm at home, I usually use the laptop, so its getting very little use anymore.
I got it on ebay now. Price is at $600 and ends in 2 days.
SPL is 3.5, AP 5.0 beta, radio 1.58.
Extras include: Nutshell black leather case with velcro strap and belt clip, black LG STyle I with charger, Motorola H500 bluetooth headset with charger.
Software: TomTom Navigator 7 & with all USA and Canada maps, Microsoft Voice Command, Aces Blackjack, Aces No Limit Texas Hold 'em, and I think i've got some other games that aren't installed right now, if anyone is interested.
Here's the ebay link:

I'm really sad to see it go. I'm switching between my Elfin and Kaiser for the time being. But as everyone knows, there is just nothing quite like the 5" VGA screen. I've been considering buying a Raphael and trying it out, but that's probably a month or two away. I'm really gonna miss the Athena forum as well.
PS. If anyone is intersted in an Elfin (i've only had it for about 2 months) let me know, I might be selling it in a month or so.
I bought a windsheild mount PDA holder from ebay a while back and it worked okay but it was cheaply made and it wound up breaking. The phone fell right out of it one day and hit the shifter. I am lucky the screen didnt break.
Anyway, I am looking for a new one and I would like one that can rotate so I can use it in landscape orientation as well, or even with the keyboard expanded. Does such a beast exist?
I would like to see what recomendations you guys have on this. I have searched online at cell accessory shops and there's alot to choose from but many look like the cheaply made one I am trying to replace.
I bought mine from one of those "we sell everything for your phone!" stalls in a market.
Has adjustable width (spring-loaded with cushioned side bits for grip), the arm can bend anywhere you like, and the windscreen mount is a suction cup with a kinda plastic 'lock' (like on a tomtom) to hold it securely.
Hasn't budged since I bought it several months ago for another handset.
Try a market stall, that's my advice. Paid about a tenner (gbp).
In fact... just found a link to the exact same thing. fiver. bargain

Cool, found a few of them for sale from merchants in the States. Thanks for the info!
Got mine at Best Buys.
I've have this one, from Expansys. It's a bit more expensive than the one mentioned, but depending on the durability, this one could last through several different phones.

I've had no problems with it so far!

Bracketron
I got my holder, a bracketron universal holder from best buy for around $30.00
it has an adjustable grip, and can accomodate most devices. It also swivels so that I can use my tilt in either landscape or portrait.
Bracketron here also...
I didn't get the windshield mount though. The one i purchased locks on to the air vent, but bracketron makes the same mount with a flexible-arm windshield mount (suction cup), or you can buy the arm part seperately.
Very pleased with it so far: foam-rubber grip where it contacts the phone, rotates, locks tightly by simply squeezing and releases with the push of a button.
Bought it at Best Buy, $19.95 US.

check out brodit. They have ones that allow the screen to slide out and tilt, and have a cable to charge the device.
Their US reseller is proclipusa.com. to find a retailer in another country head over to brodit.com

I didn't want to spend too much money on a windshield mount. I just purchased a mount with a built in power supply from ebay for under $20. I'll report how it holds up when I get it.

I've had my Fuze since the 11th and LOVE it. I'm currently using monx ROMeOS 1.4 Rom with no problems...really makes the phone feel faster.
As far as a holder to use in the car, I use a generic one from Best Buy. I forger the name but just find one that you like that fits.
Also, Best Buy has 16gb micro sd cards...I picked up one yesterday and love it!
In my opinion, Seidioonline.com has the best cases. I'm holding out for them to produce a spring clip belt holster for Touch Pro.
Good luck!
which car mount have you got or want.
I have found several different types :-

The Latter costs twice as much but will it mark the case been dragged in and out all day long.
any input would be appreciated.
Take a look at Brodit carholders/kits. Had one for my Tytn2 and it did the job good. Now i bought one for my HD. There are also many mounts for the holder especially for your car.
Clib for you car
Holder for Touch HD
Sorry is in Dutch
Brodit with the proclip! Excelent quality, won't bounch like some windscreen ones will do.
I can recommend Brodit with ProClip. (http://www.brodit.com/?lang=E)
Everyone here promotes the Brodit holder, but I understand that you have to buy a mounting device for your specific car? I change cars really frequently, so that would mean I would have to buy a new mounting device every time ??
There is a Blackstone accessories section...
Tesco special, £5.99.... what can I say, I'm a cheap slag
Potnoodle anyone?
I have the brodit mount, hardwired into the car (new Ford Mondeo). I do not change cars frequently (every 3 years or so) but do change phones frequently. Brodit is ideal as you can just screw the new mount on your existing clip, and the wiring is not to difficult as well. As I use the tomtom quite a bit on the phone (as I did on the cruise) it is very usefull having it charging all the time while in the car. Can definitely recommend
If you change cars very frequently, the Brodit holder is probably not the best solution.
It is true, that you would need a ProClip for every car you use, so that would be quite expensive.
There are better solutions for that scenarion, I guess.

Well if he changes cars frequently, you can't tell me that a ~30€ clib then is expensive. My Point is Brodit has a good and stable solution without screwing upp you dashboard. When he buyes a new car just me sure the clib is included...with the buy No car salesman will let you go ....
Maybe they're just different rental cars or company cars, in which case I doubt he would always get a new clip.
Otherwise you're right, it should be no problem to get a clip with a new car.

That is indeed my situation. (I don't buy a new car every X months, it just changes every day ...)
ProclipUSA does not show HTC HD choice on their website. I am in US, and would like to buy the Brodit holder. Any advice? Thanks

i wouldn't recomment the powered holders.
i had one for my HTC TYTNII and it damaged the mini usb socket on the bottom of the handset.
so just get the holder and use a loose charging lead.
so the set up in my car is:-
Brodit holder
on dashmount bracket (its metal and stronger then proclip)
HTC incar charger
THB cc9060 handsfree car kit with A2DP music
Brodit is the one!!

Hello all,
I bought a Rogers HTC Dream a couple of weeks back but stupidly performed the E911 update. The whole thing has me pretty bitter knowing that I can't get anything past Android 1.5 on there (for now) and I was thinking of selling it while I can still get a decent price. What would you recommend if I were to upgrade without paying too much of a premium. Here's what I have so far:
1. Stick with the Dream, wait for exploit to root/flash new roms
2. HTC Magic - newer Android, but still Rogers (they blow), and no QWERTY
3. LG Eve- QWERTY, but resistive screen and unknown build quality
Ideally, I'd want to stick with Android as I love the OS, but would also like a QWERTY if possible. Milestone is a bit out of my price range. Any suggestions?
Cheers
The G1 without Rogers. nuff said lol
Haha I was thinking of that as well. I was also weighing up selling both the Dream and my 32GB Zune HD which could fetch a pretty penny up here in the Great White North and getting the Milestone....hmmmmm
This is why we buy the T-Mobile G1 and use the rogers sim card =) Pretty sure the Rogers G1 was only out there to attract kids with the keyboard
