I'm Really Having A Hard Time Trying To Install A Theme On My Diamond, would Somebody Plz Help Me Out?
1,use TF3D config
2,use winrar unpack *.theme, then copy to windows
thnx man i'll give it a shot,i'm used to wm5 so touch flow is totally new 4 me,there's a little issue though.
i couldn't apply a background picture
thnx man,it worked, unlike wm5 it took way too long
I still don't know why theme creators don't make a cab file of their themes. The only thing a theme is made of are manila files. With a cab file you also don't need the TFL3D config program. Simply click the .cab file on your device and you're done.
@ Theme makers: there is a application named Qickcab.exe. Cabs are so easy to use and you get rid of all the repeating questions on how to install .theme files.....

I think it's already a great favor that the theme creators make all the gorgeous themes and generous enough to share them with us (they could keep the glory to themselves, look at those gold and diamond themes. We could have been drooling at them instead of showing them off on our diamonds). Do you think we are asking a bit too much to ask the theme creator to make the new theme and then ask them, "why don't you make the .theme file as I don't bother to convert the .png to manila files? Why don't you make the .cab file even saving my time to install diamond config?" I think as fellow xda-developers who know what to do, we can help out by making them instead of asking the creators to do it themselves. Or create yet another sticky faq to explain it. imho. Anyway, I bet even when .cab is created, somebody would still post a question asking what to do with the .cab he downloaded.
I fully agree but its a hard work too to copy all files to windows folder...a theme file or cab isnt so much price to do for them. I think..maybe anyone of them dont know how to do it so why dont advice them...
Ok, sorry guys, in my previous posting it wasn't my intention to piss the theme creators off. I respect their hard work. But I find it a bit strange the way .themes have to be installed. First you have to install TFL3D config utility and then you have to make some additional steps to install a theme. Why not keep it simple and create a cab file of the theme ?
I think the knowledge of the theme creators is good enough to also find out how to create a cab file out of it.
Also creating a cab is a 3 click process. Takes only 30 secs extra
Will make a short guide how to make a cab in a moment.
The reason i make theme files instead of cabs is the file size..
I agree cab files is much easier, but they just get too big with a cab!
I use cab files for minor changes, like a clock or some icons...
exampel..
Vista Ultimate Theme.theme - 1560kB
Vista Ultimate Theme.cab - 9070kB

Ok that's a big difference. But How many files are in your themes ? Do you put all the manila files in it, or just the changed ones ?
In the end both will be 9070kB But I got your point.
theme file is much better than cab which cant be always uninstalable (experience with some clocks fot TF3D) and it isnt for me such a sacrifice to such a great themes to install this user friendly program

I have about 450 files... And I made it as small as possible..
It's not just the image files...
And it depends on who is installing it...
If you have the same TF3D as I have it would be enough to just install the changed files...
but If you have another TF3D you have to replace some other files too...

Oh, relly... good to know..
I always test my cab files first, so I know that I can uninstall it

I think copying manila files is easier than installing as .theme (I haven't tried .cab so I can't say anything on that). I usually do it via bluetooth. All I need to do is to beam the relevant files (via bluetooth) and then move them to /windows (using Total Commander because you can select a batch of files to move instead of one-by-one). It doesn't take much time as the relevant files are not a lot (e.g. for the gold diamond theme, just fewer than 20 files). Simple drag and drop will do.
so first of all there is 200+ files so you have some lite version maybe
the second thing...Im using resco exp which is the best for me and every replace file in ROM i have to confirm very stupid, common File explorer is the same and I wont install another explorer just for installing themes...
Guys, guys, all That Is Good But I Still Didn't Get The Answer, why Can't I Put The Background Picture That Comes With The Theme In Th Background ? It Just Gives Me A Plain Background

200+ files for a theme? Well, I have tried the darkred/darkblue, gold, gold with diamond themes and they only have <20 files involved (all found in the thread Themes for TouchFlo3D). Where did you get the 200+ file theme? And don't use Resco exp. Use Total Commander instead. I have both on my diamond and Total Commander has an option "yes to all" (similar to Windows replace command) and all I need to do is to select the group of files, find the directory to move to and then "move" then "yes to all" and done. Just a few clicks on the diamond will do.
Or alternatively, you can wire connect your diamond to the PC and move everything from your pc (so that you don't need to touch any primitive file explorer on your diamond).
guys,r u gonna keep arguing & not answer my question,i installed a theme & came out very good but without the background,so how can i apply the background to it?

hi.. sorry about that
Just slide to the settings tab in TF3D and there you can select 'background'...
You have to copy the background file to your phone first
thanks man, although it looks like it's very obvious but touchflo is a new thing to me i'm used to wm5
I have installed a theme using Diamond TF3D and then installed a cab to change the icons, is there a way I can now backup or save this updated theme?
I made a custom theme and now will like to keep’ it so I can restore latter, but don’t know all the files that needs to be backup. Well i can say that i searched the site to have tip or method to backup the current them and did not find none. Can one kind soul help here please?
Ok i have copy the 1002 files from the phone labeled *_manila I don’t know if I have backup all necessary files for the manila theme? If put the 1002 objects in a folder and zip’ it and then rename to *.theme will work with TF3D configure?

use Manila Editor and open the folder where u got all the manila files...
then click 'Zip' -> 'All images' (or just the ones that is changed, can be hard to tell wich ones that is )
Edit: oh, I forgot .. there may be some manila files that are not images that has been changed, depending on what you have done with TF3D...
not that easy to know which ones they are...
If u use all 1002 manila files as a theme... they will consume space on your phone..
thanks. 1002 files is alot of space
Hey! Thanks for that. Appreciate. Well i can’t tell witch files i change today. I have time to time changes images and dropped theme in the windows folder and now I want to build the work I have done… will not be easy task. Looks like I learn the hard way.
Hi, this might be simple but can someone explain how can i save all themes in the diamond, so that i can change them as often as i like. Thanks !
create a theme folder, call it "Themes", i think it should be on internal storage
*.theme files with... themes
the most important - Diamond Tf3D Config, you can find this app in sticky thread.
and then, run, choose "Appearance", select theme and... wait up to several minutes. it's not a simple process, that's manilla 3D
personally i like manilla install the cab file put your clocks/icons etc. in the right folder of manilla and choose i tried tf3d config and manilla i think manilla is easier
I have a big issue when install a new theme by TF3D CONFIG, my main memory reduced to just 2.85mb
So i figured out what if to release the memory after installed new theme, can i do it? how to do it ?
tkx
Before doing anything, try a soft reset. If your memory is the same, try downloading htcAddicts CleanRam.It's here.search for it.If still you don't have enough memory,I would recommend you changing your ROM

Changing themes with TF3D Config takes 10 or 20 MB. I think it takes less memory if you copy & paste the manila files to the windows dir by yourself.
That overwrites the existing files and doesn't take much memory.

sounds like a pretty good method, dude.
But when installing the theme by TF3D config with .theme file, so it looks I have to extract all manila files from the theme file, how to extract them out??
another question, when overwrites the existing files with the extracted files, so whether it'll be no chance for me to restore the default theme back again???
It's the main new issue what I was afraid to!!!
pls let me know how ...
thank you very much, dude.

Hey, I think you can change the xxx.theme to xxx.zip and unzip the files.
Before you copy the files you should make a backup of your manila files (or the complete windows dir.) Whatever you want
If you don't like the new manila theme you can either copy the old files back to the windows directory or you could delete the (extracted)manila files from your windows dir. After a reboot the old - original manila files are restored and your old theme is back again
I was trying out manila editor and i dont know what i did now my TF3D has become like this!!
I even tried to reinstall my theme please help..
hi,
which version of TF3D do you have : 1 or 2 ?
If you have TF3D1 then install TF3D config and re-install your theme
im using the Version3(Build 29946) from SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-v7-5-Lite-16MbPP ROM
help pls? and to make a correction its Version 2 TF3D
With TF3D 2i think you might do the same....I guess installing a .cab'bed skin will fix ... but be sure to install a skin which is completely uninstallable later in case you want your old one back.... (There are a few out there which contain several add ons like S2U2 wich will make it HUGE!)
i already tried installing a cab theme and it didnt work
Maybe you should try to overwrite all the custom Panels with the grafics from your old skin. You just need to unpack the .cab or .theme file with winrar and extract the images. Then load them into your Manila Customizer (but be sure to use the correct file path!!!). Then replace the Images one by one.
A good preparation for this would be to...
disable TF3D at first, delete the Manila customizer, reset, reactivate TF3D, reset, install the customizer again....
this will erase all the bad files i think.
And if this is not working, you will have to hard Reset the device and maybe it qould be Useful to format the NAND, too.
But before doing this, respond here if it worked... meanwhile i'll think about another method how to restore it...
Good luck so far!
thanks for your help man , but i know next to night about manila editing n stuff so to save the trouble i just went and chnage my rom (hard-reset) and everything was ok ..
how this problem started was when i open a manila customizer and changed a file in my phone (forgot which) but i can get the file for u if u want to investigate further
