I just got my new Wizard ([email protected]).
As I used Magician ([email protected]) before, there is a smart dial option for the phone.
I can make a call with "ONE Finger" but in my Wizard..I have to scroll all contacts to make a call.
Is Smart Dial option available in others e.g. Qtek, i-Mate...etc?
Can please help to extract this for me???

If you go in the ftp under uploads\kjam you can find the extended rom of this device (imate kjam) that support smart dialing. Inside the extended rom there is a file named Default_SmartDialing_enable_0915_signed.cab. Perhaps this help you.

Copy the files to your ppc and run then from within the ppc exporer,
then it will be installed, you don't need to extract anything.

I final got the files "Default_SmartDialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB" and install into my Wizard Chinese Version.
But there are no different and no way to enable SmartDialing.
Would anyone can have a screen capture on it or show me how to enable it.
I still need to search thru the whole contact to start a call.

If you have a KJAM you already have smart dial.
To enable smart dial you have to open the dialer (press green button) and then press right softkey to open the menu, the bottom selection is SMART DIALING OPTIONS that enable/disable the function.
Here is the smartdialing cab...I have installed in chinese Dopod 838 (K-Jam) and no effect
I just think the files seems too small...do anyone know is it enough for installing SmartDialing????
Hey, I'm also using Dopod838 Chinese... The quick dial is enabled by default... no need to do anything in addition. When you're in the phone applet, press your right softkey and select "快速撥號 (I)" can setup speed dial numbers. 8)
He's refering to Smart Dialing, not Speed Dial Tse... The file size is correct miko... How did you install it? Did you copy the cab file to your storage card or whatever and run it from there?
One thing I missed, is the O2 Dial Wizard on my IIs.. It let you edit the number before dialing and set carding card prefix etc.. Too bad it doesn't seem to work on WM5 or my Exec
I recommend on using Phoneplus which I realized is suitable for WM5.
I have tried the CAB file and it is not working, too.
Anyone successfully run Smart Dialing on Dopod 838? I miss this application very much! :roll:
I found the CAB file actually only activate the smart dialing, which does not contain any program file. The program files should already installed in the K-Jam default ROM.
So I think the smart dialing will be able to run in Dopod 838 by copying the following files from K-Jam devices:
- \windows\phcanhtc.dll
- DPadMenu.dll

This is the Smartdialing program i used for XDAIIs before, u can try to install it into the 838, please give result after try.

I have tried to install the cab. However it doesn't work nor have any change to the dialer. I think it is for WM2003SE. So... we need the WM5 version of Smart Dialing that found in English K-Jam or English Dopod 838, or maybe Universal...

Description: PPCContactsMgr is a plugin for the Outlook contacts. It allows to select multiple contacts at once for deletion. Now it allows also to add phone numbers from calls history and received SMS. And recently, beam several contacts and add several contacts to SIM.

Bigix wanted this tool to be translated in italian. So we worked together in order to have the tool translated.
Now everybody can have this tool in its own language thanks to mui resource dlls.
Here in attachment is the french version available.(Bigix will probably provide the italian version)
Both files (PPCContactsMgr.dll and PPCContactsMgr.dll.[LCID].mui) should be put in the \Windows directory.
The mui resource dll is just a resource dll containing all the strings used in the application.
Just use a resource editor (http://www.btinternet.com/~wilsoncpw/xn_resourceeditor_setup.exe) and translate the strings in your language. (See attached text file)
The number in hexadecimal in the mui resource dll filename is the default language id used on the pda.
for italia it is:410
for france it is: 40C

1) Just use my Task Manager, select the processes tab, look for poutlook.exe, select it and click on terminate. If the process can't be closed, it will be killed.
2) In order to uninstall the plugin
a) "terminate" poutlook.exe
b) delete the PPCContactsMgr.dll located in \Windows
c) in the zip file, there is the reg file for the plugin, so use a reg editor, to remove the keys found in that file.

I use your Taskmanager v2.3 and ContactsManager v1.2 in my Roms, I will update my Roms with this new version of this little app, it's great!
If I want to upgrade it wihout using the CAB, I only need to replace the .dll file and add the new Registry settings to my Rom? Is this correct?

Thanks for the info dotFred will try this one out... it seems worth just to be able to select multiple contacts.
Nice program! The SMS part isn't compatible with the Palm Messaging Program, am I correct?

I don't know, I use CEMAPI to access SMS, so I really don't know what Palm uses, but if CEMAPI is also used under Palm, it should work.

You're right, if one of the fields sender or number is empty, I don't show the call, it will be fixed in next release.
For SMS, only the SMS in the Inbox folder are shown.

Frederic - I have had a bug with PPCContactsMgr and I was wondering if it was fixed in this new version. To reproduce the bug, go to Contacts, filter to a contact using the letters on the top of the screen. Now if I choose that contact using the middle select hardware button, or by pushing my Talk hardware button, it actually chooses the first contact in my list. Now if I filter again, it works fine. It's only the first time that it does this. The other related bug is if I hold down on the pad and let it scroll through the letters. When it gets to the letter I want, and I select the contact, it actually selects a different contact.
Does this new version fix this bug? I would test it, but I'm running Molski's AKU 2.3 ROM and I'm not sure if I can update it since the PPCContactsMgr.dll is integrated into the ROM.

Hi Brian,
I don't think this is to do with PPCContactsMgr, the only thing it does is subclassing the outlook window in order to change the style of the contacts listview. I don't do anything else. I tried to reproduce your problem but I can't. I'm running AKU 3.2 (see my signature).
There is something you can try to be sure. Just use this tool to unregister the dll. Do a soft reset and check if you still have problems with the contacts.
Regsvrce /u ppccontactsmgr.dll (to unregister)

Everything works once I disable PPCContactsMgr. I didn't unregister the DLL, but I did remove all the registery entries related to it. This has happened to me with AKU 2.0, 2.2, 2.3, and Faria's 3.2RC1. Removing the reg entries has fixed it everytime for me.
Could it be something in my pim.vol that is messing it up? I could send it to you for testing it you want.

All right, the best thing to do is to ask Faria, if he has the same problems.
I'm really sorry, because I tried several times, exactly what you did, and not a single problem.
I'm sure it is nothing to do with pim.vol, it's just a database. The problem relies in poutlook.exe

Included in the new Mobile 6.1 OS there is the SMS Threading.
Does anyone know how to restore your SMS correctly without breaking the threaded view? I have tried all kinds of different programs, and they all show that the restore has been succesfull. In some programs you can even view the SMS on pc.
But always the threaded view on the device itself is corrupt.
Does anybody know how to rebuild the view?

I would recommend you download and Install 'Shaps Advanced Config Tool' from his website found here:
http://www.touchxperience.com/
Then start the program and go to the "Menu" menu and select "Key Mapping..."
From there, you can change the "Right SoftKey:" to anything you like, including "Contacts".

I have, what I suppose to be, a translation issue with contacts editing on an official french ROM.
It seems I got it when going back to a french ROM after a WWE ROM flash, but i'm not sure, as hard resets and task 29 don't fix the problem.
So, when i want to add an "Home/Residence" phone number to a new or existing contact, i read "Reception" instead of "Home". ("Accueil" instead of "Domicile", in french)
And if I choose it, and save the new number, then it's well written as "Home (Domicile)" on contact's card.
But is there a way to modify the name of this "type" of phone number, maybe in registry or a kind of config file ?
If anyone have an idea, thanks!
