overclocking the snap / maple - Dash 3G, Snap General

hi. i was wondering if there was a software to overclock the snap. i used the omapclock for the t-dash and it worked like a charm in that. but tried doing so in the snap and it doesnt really seem to affect it a lot. maybe i havent tried cranking it up but thats cause i am scared not to brick it and having to reboot it as a result.
any info would be appreciated. links to software would be highly appreciated!
many thanks,
Kunal

At 528MHz why would you even bother over clocking it? Your not going to see any real increase with 99% of the applications out there right now as most are designed with a 400MHz in mind. Anyway I dont think Qualcomm put a speed-step function in the chip, I know they didnt for the 400 so they probably didnt in this one either.

htc snap overclocking
hi. ya i know its not much useful but the problem is that the keyboard works slow. i have a tendency to type fast (used to it since the t dash then the blackberry). i tried the reg hack of increasing the cache and stuff (posted in one of the threads in the maple section only) but has little effect on the actual speed.
so was wondering if overclocking the processor would help (tried it in samsung blackjack II which i had before this and it helped to some extent).
am trying with omap but seems to cause some software problems in some programs so dont want to force it with that.
hence the search for another one which would solve the typing speed. otherwise i just love the phone.
thanks,
Kunal

Yea it's doable. I heard these processors can go up to 650+. I'm actually going to tweak out clkregim.dll to try to achieve some extra MHz. Might end up bricked... Lol.

overclocking snap
hey ookba
thanks a lot for your reply. was really getting worried. btw i had also posted this on the google smartphone groups and they referred me to nueClockControl 1.1 saying that this is an underclocking software but an updated one might allow overclocking else the company would be in the process of developing/might custom develop an overclocking software.
am trying with them, in the meantime if you are able to make a breakthrough with your attempt, then please please post what and how you did it in this thread including the software used. I am a little slow in these things so you just might have to bear with the thickness of my skull
thanks,
Kunal

No one got any updates on how to speed up the keyboard?

Trinity/P3600 - Slow? Advice wanted.

Hi guys!
I'm totally new to this forum and I apologize if this issue has been discussed/explained earlier, but here goes:
I recently purchased a new HTC P3600/Trinity , as I have been using Qtek/HTC pocketpc's the last years and have been very satisfied with them. One of the main reasons I bought Trinity was because of the 400mhz Samsung CPU which I thought would be fairly faster than the 200mhz TI CPU on my previous S200. But, what I don't understand is that, when I try to for example play NES games with PocketNES or PocketNester on the Trinity, the emulation runs sooo slow, even with sound disabled. On my S100 and S200, NES emulation was flawless with sound enabled. I have also noticed some other slowdowns when running apps/games as well. Why is this? I do hope this is a bug that can be fixed somehow with a hack/tweak or a rom upgrade.
I am also wondering if there is, per date, any overclocking apps that work with the Samsung 400mhz CPU?
Any help/comments appreciated, thanks!
- Stian
CPU MHz isn't the sole determinant for the overall application performance. I bet you are not running number crunching application in your Trinity, don't you?
Playing games inevitably involves the graphics chip, in Trinity's case - the ATI Imageon chip, which unfortunately is not too well supported by these apps. You don't get decent playback of video until recently.
And speaking about overclock - I still don't see any proper app to really overclock that Samsung CPU....
Alright thanks for the input! I really thought that the previous HTC devices had sort of the same graphics chip. I sure hope there will be software enhanced for the ati chip in the future though. More comments appreciated as well!
Its mainly because of the stupid ATI Accelerator
Please take a look at a wiki. Its a known issue , whenever you play a game (that uses stylus input) , you'll notice that fps drops dramatically but then if you just use the buttons , it works fine..I am not sure why or what. But it seems that ATI Graphics chip is the culprit
Yeah, I've heard about the thing with the touchscreen slowing it down. But even if I'm not even close to using the touch screen, it's already slow..

so has there been any fix for this? i know that wm6 certainly doesn't make the situation better.
More comments on this issue is greatly appreciated.. As far as I have experience by now.. Every game and/or application I use that requires holding the stylus to the touchscreen suffers from major slowdowns. . I will definitely send an e-mail to HTC complaining about this issue and I hope that others will do the same. They should really fix this issue in the next ROM release ..

You can try XCPUScalar to overclock your device (paid software) http://www.immiersoft.com/, tried it on mine (HTC P3600). Works.

I haven't used any NES emulators on Trinity - but does it involves the touch screen at all?
If you are talking about raw video performance, I guess those software like emulators will sooner or later support the ATI video chip, which would then provide better video speed.
But I doubt there's any fix from HTC regarding the stylus performance hit problem.
Besides the problem with the touchscreen...have you tried to upgrade to WM 6?
Mine is much faster since the upgrade.

Really?
Is it stable and all with the WM6 upgrade? I would prefer a Norwegian WM6 rom though, considering the norwegian special letters and all .. I'll might upgrade to WM6 then, can anyone else confirm this?

[Q] Custom ROMS and the Downfall (GPS) Help me :)

Hi there people,
GPS! It works great with the stock rom like everything else but I want Apps2SD, Live Wallpapers, Overclocking and Higher Res so what shall we do?
I've tried the custom roms available, Touch screen didn't work on CM, Puzzle's GPS is way off so makes some of androids greatest features useless.
I see so many satisfied people out there, please advise me...
I need GPS to work and I would like Apps2SD and overclocking... I feel like I'm missing out a little.
So anyone else on the same page as me? Any advise from others? Thanks!

try cyanogenmod, only problem i have so far is some apps layout aren't proper, like the default phone dialer, but there are alternatives.
I'm interested in the feedback here as well. All of the modded ROM's are way off what I'd like my Wildfire to be.
i agree kevin2516, try cyanogenmod, i tried the wildpuzzle and openfire before but had only problems with gps and show me the wrong position. it was always 10-15m away from my real position but with cyanogenmod it work properly. only the first fix for your position takes about 1-2 Minuten, but only the first time.

Hi thanks for all responses. I tried CM and got it working, I was impressed at first but the real test was everyday usage. I love listening to mp3s and browsing web at the same time, unfortunately the performance went stupid when trying to multitask, listening to mp3s and playing with the phone was no where near fast enough, infact terrible and crashing.
I did already set the cpu to a good range. I ended up going back to stock rom, which is just as good as I need. If there was a way to get stock rom onto Apps to ext and overclocked it would be cool.
Peace

Can you walk through how you did this? I'm new to overclocking, but understand the concept. I only show up to CPU 5 and I noticed the picture you posted shows up to CPU 7. When I go to CPU 0 to adjust it to 2000, tab just reboots. Not having any success in applying the changes you've shown. Are there any other settings you haven't shown that are necessary to make these changes?

Wow, its amazing how people will just go ahead and blindly do whatever someone else does without thinking anything through.
the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is based on the old A9 cortex we know and love, and at 1.4ghz is already fast for the specifications it was originally designed for. I would think very carefully before just plugging right away with a 40% increase overclock on your very expensive and prized possession tablet. If you break it via crazy high frequency speeds, and Samsung engineers would have little trouble identifying the cause in a repair shop and your warranty will certainly be void.

You say you are new to overclocking, then say you tried to directly apply 2ghz and the tablet "just rebooted". Forgive me for assuming you don't quite know what you are doing.
I'm calling shenanigans on this post... Those settings are just bollocks, unless the OP somehow managed to get their hands on a prototype 5 series Exynos, which CAN handle speeds like that...

Yup, I can imagine the CPU handling it for as long as it takes to reach unstable temperatures... 0.5-50 seconds. Not to mention the voltage i can imagine required to keep it stable at such a high frequency.

The useful thing I am contributing is trying to drill into people that just because you see someone else do silly things on a $600, doesnt mean that you should do them too.
Tablets are not desktop PC's, they are 100x more delicate and do not have close to the tolerances or tweakability that PC components enjoy, and the risk of breaking something is much greater. Going straight for 2ghz before testing stability at lower speeds (as you did, hence the reboots) is just careless, no two ways about it. However, feel free to go ahead, just don't complain here when all of a sudden it doesn't power on any more.

Simple steps to a super stable and fast SGS2 Android Phone

Okay, I may not have 1xxx number of posts, but I read, search, and try. If you're going to judge me from my number of posts, please grow up.
Aside from that, I've tried a **** load of configurations on my SGS2 since I got it in January(2012).
Including but not limited to:
Siyah Kernel, all kinds of mods, and configuration sets from various great tweakers out there, such as MagicPrefs and others.
N.E.A.K kernel, Dream Kernel by team Sky Fire, Dorminax, and many, many others.
I've tried many roms, Stock, CheckROM, Hydrogen, AOKP, CM7-10, etc.
After all of that mixing, matching, testing and using, I've finally come to a conclusion on the perfect build, that makes your phone super fast, stable as a rock, and best part is, it takes minimal tweaks. I've noticed the more "tweaks" I've loaded my phone with, the more, uh..funny it gets in terms of compatibility and issues down the road. And remember, tweaks don't necessarily mean improvement. At some point, I couldn't keep a phone log for more than a few days from the amount of flashing and changing I did..
So here it goes.
At the time of this writing,
ROM
cm-9-20120819-NIGHTLY-galaxys2
Start clean of course, wipe everything and install.
Kernel
Stock (the one that comes with the ROM above)
If you want to tweak the kernel or something, use the built-in Performance menu. I usually use ondemand/conservative on 200-1200. When I need super battery saving mode which is rarely, I go down to 200-800.
Tweaks
V6 SuperCharger
This is where all the magic happens
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16635544#post16635544
For the installation, it may seem overwhelming with the weird structure of information that tries to appeal to the advanced and novice, but its really simple(and friendly ). I suggest skipping the step one, the one that says about installing fixed su binary, and the whole "Super Charger Starter Kit" I tried it and it messed up my Super User instead, go straight to installing the script, works wonderful.
Other small tweaks which don't change the performance per say, but if you like a fast reactive phone, I recommend you try this:
In developers menu, set all the Animation scales to 0.5x from the default 1.0x. It simply speeds the animations. And if your launcher supports animation speed adjustments as well, such as Nova Launcher which is what I use, use Fast animation settings as well.
DPI
Many of us like to change the DPI, I recommend 213.
Why? Its the same as the Nexus 7, meaning you wont have to go through funny hoops to get Google Play Store working, and its decent, not too big nor too small.
Tip
If you hold the phone with the left hand, you're blocking the wifi chip antenna which is located in the bottom left of the phone. Try using a right hand grip on the phone when you're low on signal strength.
Use the app GetRIL app, it will suggest a matching Modem with your network for your phone.
Thats all. If I'm to sum the past 8 months of experience into one super knowledge of ultimate wisdom, this is it. No funny weird bugs. No 50 million kernel tweaks that don't seem to be doing much other than making the phone more unstable, etc. Only thing I miss is having a volume boost. I keep Voodoo Louder for that, but of course Siyah's built in free volume boost is great.
From here on, its preferable you know what you want in terms of apps. install what you need only. Nothing more, nothing less. If an app seems problematic, freeze/uninstall it.
And really, enjoy your phone. Forget flashing a new build every 6, 12 hours, or day or two depending on how severe your case of flashing is, and use it as its meant to be used.

Yeah I got slightly confused and overwhelmed at first too. All you gotta do really after installing CM9 is:
Download SManager
Download the V6 supercharger script from his thread, and rename it to end with ".sh" and place it in your internal storage root
and thats all the files you need. Use SManager to run the script with the su button on.

I've been using it since my sgs days. IMHO, it gives you boost. Some devs actually use the sqlite script which is also present in supercharger. Any rom can use the script. You have to run the script. However, if you have super su installed it may break its binary which could give you issue. But I think it can detect whether you have super su and it will abort the su binary installation. Believe me your phone will fly.

Supercharger plays around with minfree values and hence it's effective on phones with less RAM. GSII comes with 1GB which is more than enough for ICS or JB.

It does more than just that, but regarding the RAM, you can't really have enough RAM. 2 GB would obviously be better than 1.
The other day I was playing Dungeon Defender Second Wave, and I got a call while I was playing, so I hung up and guess what? The game exited. My brothers S3 (2GB ram) can handle that no problem.
So I tried this with Thunderbolt script with LMK set to 60MB I think, and I was able to multitask the game and a phone call, while still on the same hardware.
Jeezuz! How can anyone understand what to do?
The OP of V6 Supercharger thread is just a fragmented mess off different things, why is it not just simple?

Well I have tried to get it working and read the complicated mess and after I tried to install starter kit which aborted, so then tried running main script like OP said he did, through script manager, said busy box needed updating and took me to site, installed it, ran again, still problems with busy box???

Download the supercharger starter kit then download script manager from play store. Open the script manager with su permission. Browse the folder supercharger kit from sdcard. The kit should be copied into the internal not to the external card. From the kit folder run the startmeup.sh with su permission. Then follow screen instruction. If your rom has super su icon, you don't have to install the su binary. However, if you mis this portion during installation the process abort its installation coz the script is auto detecting of the su binary. Cheers mate after this restart phone and it will fly.
Thanks, but after all that, its put me off even more!
Why can it not just be a simple apk or zip that automatically does all this messing about?

Best Game Settings for P7000

Hello!
I noticed that, when playing a game like marvel contest champion on the P7000, it runs a bit less smoothier than other devices and it lags sometimes, even with plenty of RAM and no other app opened on background.
I was wondering if there was a way to "fix" that and improve its gaming capabilities (i'm a phone n00b, but i read somewhere that you could actually tweak the GPU -settings- and improve its performance, if that makes any sense).
Can you guys help? i tried searching on the forum but found nothing that could be of any help. if i missed a thread, please give me a hand by pointing it out.
Thanks in advance.

@tool_king I had read of it before and it seems to fix the p6000 phones (AAL turned off) but the thing is I can't find that on my elephone p7000 . it has a lot of options but AAL is not there :/ maybe there's another name for it? (Tried googling it but couldn't find anything about it either)
