OK, I finally got my hands around 1 and I want it. But I am in a contract with TMO, and I need a step by step (if willing and able) on how to obtain the phone (without contract obligations) and be able to use it on TMobile Service.
I want to drop the G1 (Dream) for it.
Any suggestions?
Don't know if you still care about this, seeing as how it's months old but I had a friend ask the same question. I did a little research and as of right now everyone is saying it's not gonna happen.
Unlocked GSM Palm Pre is selling on few sites. Has anyone bought it yet?
This is way not the right forum.

Hi everybody
I’m super excited about T-mobile's HD2 (US version), this thing is awesome in real, the display is just gorgeous.
I went yesterday to my local T-mobile store to get the device, but it was sold out, and the next batch won’t come until next Wednesday, so I asked the rep some questions, but I’m not really sure about her answers, she might be new…I was hoping you can help me with some of them:
1. I want to the get the device alone, without any plan, and rep said that is possible, even if I don’t get the “Even More Plus” plan…just the phone… all I have to do is pay $449
Was she right?
2. If I bought the device alone, can I still get an unlocking code from them? I read in several places that people can usually do that after 14 days, but the rep said 60 days, and she’s not sure if I can ask for unlocking code if I buy the device without any plan
I’ll continuing my education here in the states, but in the same time, I need something that will work when I go home (Dubai), and we have GSM back there, and since AT&T suck , I guess I have to go with T-mobile..
I really appreciate you help
Here you go!

Hey guys,
I remember checking out the DVP a while ago and pretty much forgot about it up until the other day. Im really liking where windows is going with their mobile os so im considering the switch from my samsung captivate. I was checking on dell's website, and you can get the unlocked AT&T 3G version for $300, which i think is a pretty great deal.
My only questions are there any issues i should be aware of before i purchase one? also i live in canada so i will be running it on the Rogers network.. will everything pretty well work with me being in canada (like gps, apps, etc..)?
Any feedback is apprecaited! thanks
dvp is a great phone and the best one hands down if you need a keyboard.
But wait.. see what phones are coming. You should see the HTC ones offered in a few days.
HTC Omega (Eternity) with 4.7" screen... DNLA, AOLED (i don't want it if it is LCD) ..
i WAS waiting for the searay.. but that screen is to small.
I'm definitely looking for something with the keyboard as well. I personally love the look of the dvp. I know there was talk of the dell wrigley coming out.. But I don't know if it will be anytime soon. So I'm thinking if I sell my captivate I can afford this. Only other question I have is that there will for sure be the mango update for the phone right?
also is anyone interested in selling their at&t version of the phone? i thought i could get it of the dell ebay site using my canadian paypal account with an american shipping address but it wouldn't let me. so my only resort right now is to get it off ebay, or even here. in canada i need it for rogers, which is the same frequency as at&t
yes there is mango for the phone.. i'd bet everyone that reads this sub forum already has it on their phone.
why can't you get it from ebay? it doesn't ship to you guys up north? get it from dell's web site then.
http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/mobile-venue-pro/fs
i managed to get it off dell.com this morning, but after some dealing with customer service. because its not offered on dell.ca right now, i had to use my credit card with a US shipping and billing address of where i was going to pick up the item, then contact the dell credit card verification centre, and tell them why the info i provided for my billing address wouldn't match the database. so it ended up working out in the end. and to me, $300 for a brand new phone, unlocked, and not contract.. seems like a steal.
so before i get receive the phone, does anyone have any tips or directions to point me? im going to give this thread a read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178338 and hopefully try to jump into getting mango on it ASAP. does anyone know what os version it ships with right now?
Hi all!
Let me say this right now...when it comes to Cell phones I am the capital "N" in Noob!
Here is what I'm trying to do:
I just bought a brand new S5 from Best Buy. Paid $800 for the Sprint S5 because we use Ting and that is a Sprint MNVO...we saw S5s' on their site and assumed we could BYOD over like we did with our 3 previous phones. We paid what we did and used Best Buy so we could use our credit card and absorb the painfully expensive hit over a bunch of months. Anyway, I digress....apparently there is a contract that Ting cannot BYOD device if said device is newer than a year....so....what do I need to do to take this brand new Sprint S5 and get it on to Ting? (I'll even take getting it on to Boostmobile at this point)
What do I need to unlock or root or flash...or whatever to get this fantastic new phone on either Ting or Boostmobile? IS there anything I can do? Can someone help?? My wife (her phone) is extremely unhappy and she loves the copper gold color we got so taking it back is, hopefully, not an option. Let me know...I would greatly appreciate it...thanks!!!! PS...I do have the MLS code...if that helps.

All of Sprints MNVO's have this policy/agreement with Sprint. Short of changing the MEID which is not only illegal, but apparently renders the phone unable to get a signal, theres really no options i know of at the moment other than waiting out the year or selling the device and possibly taking a hit on the price. Too bad you cant use it on a GSM network, but thats not a option currently either. I seem to remember the wait being 2 years a few years back, thankfully its only 12 months now.
I wish you luck, but i fear there may be little or nothing you can do short of selling or waiting out the year
I have a Note 3 from my old, expired, contract with Sprint. I'm still shopping around for a better carrier in my area. In the mean time I opened service with a company called Metro PCS. As a side note this also lets me evaluate T-mobile's network (since I believe they are on the same network).
An employee at the local dealership checked out my Note 3 and said it would totally work with their network, IF I payed him $75 to do some "magic" to the phone. Ok then... He promised it worked and had a few examples on a shelf that he'd worked on for others to show me.
I got him to lower the price to $40 and signed my phone over (I'm not kidding, I made him sign an agreement...as legal as that really is xD), then a couple days later he tells me he can't set it up because it's running the custom cyanogen rom I have on it.
Now I'm wondering two things....
Why would my rom cause an issue???
And wtf was he going to do anyways???
I work 5 days a week and don't have much free time to screw with all of this stuff. That's a big reason I was down to shell out some cash for it to just "work".
Does anyone have any clue what this dude was up to? And what should I do next?
Thanks folks!
P.S. I'd re-install stock rom if it wasn't such a piece of s#!t
Maybe he would flash some files that could open for your new network. And it was made for stock roms? That's why he can't do it for you on CM.
Get your phone back.
Maybe some one can help you here with unlocking your device.

hello everyone. im not sure if im using the search function here correctly or not but i couldnt find anything. (probably didnt use it correctly) but i have a samsung s8 from tmobile. i own the phone and was with t-mobile for a long time. until a week ago. the phone isnt paid off yet and i plan on going back to t-mobile once i situate the money issue with them. but for nowi would love to still use it. and i cant unlock it as its not paid yet. is there any way to unlock it to use on metro. i have to reiterate this, the phone is mine, i was paying monthly for it. until i fell behind on some of the bills and couldnt make them any more. so its not stolen, i can prove its mine. i would just love to still use it as it is a good phone. any positive feed back would be greatly appreciated. thanks again guys and gals.

Online services is the only way and most charge around i thin a 100 for tmobile
metro is a subsidiary of tmobile are they not?
Most carrier devices will allow subsidiary sims in them
biggest thing is black list due to non payment....
This is about the most help you will get since you havnt paid your device off

yes they are. but i tried sticking my metro sim in my tmobile phone and it said "phone not allowed" couldnt make any calls. it said it wasnt on a network or something everytime i tried to make a call.
I've unlocked about 10 phones from T-Mobile, and I'm from Canada. We don't even have T-Mobile ??. I just use a PC running a program called IMEI Gurus LLC Service Tool. They have aan option to specifically unlock T-Mobile for free..

Well they changed it. I know the owner personally and as of 6 months ago it was 110. I pay samkey.com for unlock credits on mobile and it is most def not free.
But that's not the point. The point is pay your device off and they'll do it for free

i havent paid off my device and they put in a request to unlock it. while on the phone with them i got curious and clicked on the t-mobile unlock app, ticked on perm unlock and it worked. restarted the phone and it has since been unlocked. the unlock app disappeard and everything. the only thing is now that when i stick a metro sim i get the error MM and when i try and make a call it says it is not on a registered network. ill take it up to metro and see whats up. i appreciate all the comments.
just stuck the sim from my work phone (sprint iphone) and it tried to go through the motions of setting it up but it wouldnt finish. im thinking it is the phone itself. sucks.
