Calendar - Hero, G2 Touch General

Is it true that you cannot "invite attendees" when entering a new calendar appointment on the hero? If that is the case, it kills this phone for me. What if you invite an attendee in the actual google calendar on your pc browser, do any invited attendees show up on Hero calendar? This is a major requirement for me.

No you can't. Never really noticed that.
That is very bad.
I'm convinced I'm missing something, but as of now I can't find a way to invite attendees in the calendar.

If you access Googlecalendar via the browser you can invite attendees -this updates to your 'phone calendar' pretty quick if syncs are setup
Jay

So doing it this way will actually show attendees on the phone calendar? Want to make sure of this, because I absolutely need to be able to see attendees in the phone calendar.

Online availability of Attendees in Outlook Calendar ??

I've upgraded my ROM and have push email from my company server. Everything is working great. Get emails to my phone sometimes faster than to my PC!
One question - and this is definitely a nice to have. Is there a way to do an online lookup to confirm attendee availability when setting up a calendar event? Then people will really not know where I am!

Google sync for calendar and contacts out today

It seems that finally Google has released a sync for google calendar and contacts for WM (and iPhone) today.
Now to get it working...
http://www.google.com/mobile/winmo/sync.html
Waiting for email and tasks sync too.... Then I will use it for sure...
yea nice... im waiting for this... used http://www.scheduleworld.com all the time
Well I can't get it to work. First screen asks for my email address, then when I enter my log in on the third it blanks out the domain then it just won't sync at the end.
I got it up and running from the phone... First couple attempts failed, but I was choosing the Mail and tasks options, only selecting the Contacts and Cal entries (as per the instructions ) meant it worked normally.
Shorted (sic)
No idea what the issue with mine was, but I reset and tried afresh and it's now going great guns.
Only one calendar?
It only appears to sync the one calendar...
mine doesn't work, i get an error "Your account in Exchange Server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your admin"
Support Code: 85010004
anybody knows what this means?
I've not got it too work either yet, I wonder if it's being staged in a few accounts at a time?
{EDIT}
:doh, forgot I hadn't set a google calendar up on that g account.
As soon as I did and tried again it synched, maybe a coincidence but it's working now..
You have to choose Contacts and Calendar only... NOT Mail and Tasks
i have selected only Contacts & Calendar and i do have an active calendar account on google but still no luck
... i managed to sync my contacts by unticking the calendar option. i guess that would have to do for now
hmk ...
the google description says, i have to enter my whole emails adress and google as domain.
fun part is, i cant enter the domain anymore, as soon i add an "@" sign :/
I tried it and it does work, but it has some limitations.
@grayme
about which calendar it syncs, Google help says it syncs only main calendar, not the others.
this is not enough for some, i want to sync more than one calendar, and the only valid solution for now is the OggSync Pro, which can sync many calendars, and you even select which method to do for each (2 way, incoming only or outgoing only).
@achmed20
google documentation is for an older version maybe, not WM6.1, the first windows you put your gmail address and password, then in later steps it will ask for server.
I wish Google would extend this service for push emails with their Gmail service!
I have to admit i was always reluctant to use much of Google's services apart from searching because they have a very dominant position in the market. But they seem to be implementing the right things for their customers at no extra cost! Who could say no to that?

but the description says leave domain empty
anyway, I got it finally working once I unchecked calendar. But what I do not understand is why it always try to use the data connection even if I am connected to wifi
Looks nice,
I'm using Nuevasync, does this job the same way. i've got 6 agenda's on my account, and there all in sync..
Well there was an announcement recently that Google have licensed activesync so we may see more to come in this area

I got it working =) nice way to sync my contacts with my google account =)

So you have tried to sync contacts? does it sync all contact detail? especially the birth date?
i configured my X1 to sync only calendar with Google Sync, for contacts i use Zyb and Funambol (still to decide which is better), i didn't use DashWire becuase it didn't have the birth date field synched...
It does not sync the birthday field. Sync-ed fields are:
- Name, title, company
- Email
- Phone
- Address
- IM
- More information (Notes field for example)

[REQUEST] Calendar Sync for Yahoo

I've tried everything, and there is no current way to sync WinMo's calendar with Yahoo's calendar (the new .ICS compatible beta).
I use Yahoo for my email, calendar, and notes and there is a shocking lack of integration with the WinMo ecosystem.
Is anyone up for the challenge to create an OTA sync tool between WinMo outlook calendar and yahoo's new calendar?
Contacts would be a great sync as well, but I'm just going to ask for one thing at a time!
Note: I've tried EVERYTHING available, and nothing works. Not Yahoo Sync w/Outlook, not Get Yahoo WinMo app, not Yahoo Go 2.0, etc....
Thanks!
Jon
I know my advice sucks...
But...
Try google calendar. You can even get free sync with active sync. I though, prefer nuevasync.com to sync my calendar.
It works amazing. I use it everyday.
I forgot to mention that, in an effort to sync my online with my mobile world, I made a huge attempt to move my web services to Google. Unfortunately, my experiment failed. I just could not get adjusted to Google Mail vs. Yahoo Mail. So, I went back to Yahoo after an earnest experiment.
Because of the great integration between Yahoo Mail & Calendar, I really can't move over to Google Calendar. I've even already asked Nuevasync to add Yahoo to their sync services!
Like I said... I've tried EVERYTHING, which is why I've requested new development. I'm thinking I cannot be the only "Yahoo with WinMo!"

Well... If yahoo cal supports and ics version to import to other calendars, you can add that to the calendar list on your google cal. And then use nuevasync to sync. But that would be one-way sync, so you couldn't make new appointments from your phone. But seriously. Try gmail, and gcal again. Then your problems would be over. They work amazing with activesync. And your only alternative is to wait until an new unstable beta service would arrive to yahoo, which might take som time.
Hi sblop,
I didn't want to overload my post, but when I said I tried EVERYTHING, I meant it! I tried adding Yahoo's ICS cal to Google cal, but the events come up as generic... no event details show up on Google Cal. So, that approach didn't work either.
While I'm at it, I also tried to add my Yahoo cal to my Live Calendar as well - no go.
You could therefore say that Yahoo's ICS is buggy. I don't know. I just know that I have been unsuccessful in linking it to other online calendars to-date.
Thanks,
Jon

Sorry.
Then I cant help you.
But good luck.
OK, I was wrong! I just checked my Google Cal with the Yahoo ICS connection, and some details are showing up. Others are "locked" and therefore show no details. This must be a setting Yahoo is automatically applying, so I need to manage that on the Yahoo side.
Presuming this connection continues to work, which is the best calendar sync for Google Cal? Nuevasync? Google ActiveSync?
Any info appreciated!
Thanks,
Jon

If you use google activesync service, your only able to sync one calendar at a time, which is quite annoying if you make one for work, and one for private matters etc. - I use nuevasync, and just selects which calendars I want to sync, and then it works. So I suddest nueva.
Update.... and bad news! The ICS-linked Yahoo calendar on Google Calendar shows up fine on the Google Cal screen, but it does not seem to include it in the sync process! So, the "linking" is display-only, not imported so that the Google ActiveSync can sync those ICS events!
Grrr.....
Update on the update.... Nuevasync does allow me to sync my ICS-linked calendar in Google Calendar. So, it looks like I kinda/sorta have what I'm looking for. Not as good as direct Yahoo sync (no contacts, for instance), but it's better than nothing.
Thanks for the great band-aid!
Jon
should look into seven beta will let you sync contacts email and calendar not sure about notes but it could be possible

Any word on an app to do OTA synching with Yahoo Calendar to WinMo?

Anyone tried FUNAMBOL for Adnroid?

I think it's supposed to propose a solution for the lack of exchange support (calendar for example) with android.
Anyone knows if it really does?

What lack of Exchange support?
I have been using my Android Device with full exchange support for a long while now.
As to the OP, no, I have not used this app...
exchange on N1
Calendar Sync, Accept invitations, overlay Gmail and exchange calendars in a single view, GAL support, auto complete from Gmail and GAL when composing an email, search email on server.
All of the above worked perfect on my good old iPhone.

I can accept and create calendar events without issue. Never had a need to overlay Google and Corp calendar since I want to keep them separate...
I use 2 different apps for personal and work email, so don't need personal contact in my corp directory or work contact in my personal directory. I can auto complete names without issue in those respective apps as well.
Glad the iPhone let you do that, but I would not have used those features.

Hey... maybe I'm missing something.
How do you use calendar? N1 doesn't come with exchange calendar app. Are you using Moto's CorpCal?
What about autocomplete in exchange mail "To" field? Did you do anything special to enable it?
I run my own Funambol server and have used the client for years on Windows/Linux Thunderbird/Outlook and Windows Mobile.
The client for Android only syncs contacts at the moment, and it works. But, the developer typically works at a snails pace, so I'm not expecting to see full sync capability for another 2 years.

Email app not syncing?

Any ideas why the email app won't sync? Im signed in but it just says "action required to sync email" and then links me to the google play store to download outlook?

While perhaps a different issue--the link-y to Play Store / download Outlook thing is strange--the email sync / notification issues were discussed a bit here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/gmail-push-notification-issues-t3595024 .
(FWIW, I've been using Outlook recently as the best email client that works with regular Gmail (not Google Apps) with the option to turn off conversation view. TypeApp / Blue Mail is another, but MS finally has Outlook doing a respectable job, after many months of false starts with the app.)

I just got my S8+ today and experienced the same issue. I added my Outlook.com as Exchange Active Sync account to get calendar and contacts synced on the phone too.
This results in the "action required to sync email" message in your inbox, which encourages you to download the Outlook app. If you read the email closely, towards the end is a link to click if you don't want to use the Outlook app. Click on that link and it will take you to a page where the Outlook team acknowledges that you don't want to use the app, and your email/calendar/contacts will sync with the Samsung apps quite happily.
It is insane to go thru these hoops to get full syncing...if you go thru the Outlook app, the sync is only one way too. I wouldn't mind if the Outlook app for Android was as graceful as the iOS version...

As you say - it's insane how difficult this stuff is. I thought it was bad enough when I set EAS syncing on an HTC 10 but this is even more convoluted. Why, if you set up an EAS account and select Contact and Calendar syncing, does it not just happen and allow syncing with any Contact or Calendar app! To hide the steps to enable it to an Email that isn't easily discoverable and has nothing to do with EAS is "bonkers" .
THANK YOU!!!!
I saw the link on the bottom you referred to, but my technology-illiterate self ignored it because I didn't think it would apply to what I was trying to do. But, lo and behold, I clicked on it, restarted my phone, and poof - there was all the email that previously wouldn't sync.
Thank you SO MUCH and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you!!
