Hi guys,
I'm spending my holidays in California next month for about a month and I'm looking for an Internet coverage during this time.
I would like your advice about prepaid data plan. Wich operator as a decent coverage outside the cities (I'll be car-travelling between SF, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, ...) and what's the best offer for an unlimited data or at least 1Go (will have some pics to send) I'm ok for both a 3G usb key plan or a mobile only plan ?
Thank you for your advice.

Ok I currently have T-Mobile with razor but currently using the SIM card in the Tytn (bought unlocked).... but I don''t know if adding the data plan to my contract (family plan) will alter the length I am stuck with them plus I get discounts with Cingular and Sprint through work.
I live the metro Atlanta area, soo I have access to all major carriers.
With Sprint I can get:
450 min ( my current minuets with T-Mobile and rarely get close to that)
unlimited night/weekend (starting at 7)
unlimited text ( I run well over 1,000 txt's a month)
unlimited pcs vision (data and such)
all for $60 a month
Cingular however...... for all that I am looking at about $80 +. But if I buy the 8528 I can get their serivce for $75 a month but Id also have to buy the phone.
I have not read anything on here saying how the Tytn works on Sprint's network anywhere. Does anyone know how Sprint is for this and if I will be missing any features minus 3G support?
Thanks
Sprint is CDMA; it is not a GSM network. Therefore, your TyTn will *not* work at all on Sprint. Cingular IS GSM, so it will work just fine.

I was afraid of that answer. I might just wait a little while longer and see when T-Mobile will roll out their 3G network. Id rather not have to spend that much money for a phone plan. But I will do some more surfing on Cingular's site on Monday when I am at work. I know they have a nice discount when you buy the 8525 and the plans but if you do just the plans it is more.
Traveling to Miami/Tampa next week, carrying my Artemis for 10 days.
My provider is Vodafone Spain, and their roaming charges for data services in USA are high.
I´m looking for a US (Florida) provider for Data plan with affordable EDGE/GPRS rates. Wifi Hotspots would be a Bonus.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance
Hi all,
I'll be travelling to the US on business for one month, and I will be needing a sim card to put into my Tytn (HTC Hermes, quad band 3g). Does anyone know what's the best prepaid or one-month plan I can get that will give me unlimited data? I would really like to try out some of the broadband features of my wm6 phone (only edge in China, no 3g) so a plan that offered unlimited data on a high-speed network would be ideal. I'll be travelling to several states and many cities, so nationwide network is a must.
I've looked at a lot of websites but would reallyappreciate some feedback from real people who have the same/similar phone as I do. I hope someone can point me in the right direction, thanks!!!
At&t has there gophone pick your plans that you can add the medianet unlimited to for 20usd.
Is anyone using ATT's prepaid gophone $50 unlimited featurephone plan?
If so what type of 3g data speeds are you seeing?
I want to buy an unlocked phone and put it on this plan, but I have read ATT throttles their prepaid plans to 0.20 Mbps.
Thats barely 3G at all =\
But sorry, can't really help you there. I can say its an awful thing to do to their customers though. It seems like there aren't any telcos in America that actually give a toss about their prepaid customers, which is a bit of a shame.
Re: At&T gophone
Hi! I got a $45 GoPhone Plan from AT&T that has everything unlimited including and unlimited data plan. First 1,5 GB they promise " 1.5GB high-speed data (up to 3G for basic and messaging phones); thereafter unlimited data usage at reduced speeds up to 128Kbps " (AT&T).
However I have not had a chance to use my phone Internet outside and only today I decided to check smth. and was waiting for ages when a page was downloading. Then, when I came back home I downloaded "Ookla speed test" from Google Play and was shocked to learn that my data speed was 0.20 mbps !!! Next what I did, I went to Settings, More, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names and saw the following two options " ATT-wap.cingular and H2O Wireless-att.mvno. My option is ATT-wap.cingular as another option does not work with my data plan. My conclusion that ATT gophone uses that old prepaid data from Cingular. Back to 200+ I remember this Cingular was a pretty bad provider servicing people with bad credit.
Now I am going to move back to T-Mobile.
Regards,
Andy.
Hey guys, I currently have a contract with Rogers which sucks a lot (not coverage, but cost), and I'm thinking about switching to some prepaid plan after my contract expires. The best prepaid plan that I found is Virgin, which is $25(100mb) or $35(250mb). It is pretty decent, but I need more data. 100 minutes is enough for me, and unlimited texting needed.
Do you know any carriers that offer better deals?
If you could do month to month, no contract koodo has a promotion for $45, Unlimited incomming calls, picture text, after 5 free, 300 mins with 500mb data for $45.

look into Speakout Mobile.. their data is advertised as unlimited mobile browsing but you could always run a proxy / vpn on your phone to remove any limitations. I spend $30 a month for 100 mins, unlim texting, and "unlim" data..
