Solution for small MMS photo with US T-Mobile - Touch HD General

Since the newly released (August 12) T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 has the same resolution as the Touch HD, I was hoping that T-Mobile has updated their MMS Server with that phones User Agent info. Well they did and after editing my registry to the Touch Pro 2's User Agent and Profile data, I now receive full screen MMS photos.
Here is the current Touch HD data:
User-Agent HTC_Touch_HD_T8282/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
x-wap-profile http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_HD_T8282-1.0.xml
Here is the new Touch Pro data:
User-Agent Rhodium-1.0/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
x-wap-profile http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Rhodium-1.0.xml
This is where the registry settings are:
HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\config\mm1\WspHeader

TC,
Thank you very much for this. This is an awesome fix. I now get full blown MMS pictures on my TouchHD without having to install cab files and stuff.
Cheers.

Hi guys,
I'm having the same issue with my mms pics on my touch pro 2 but I dont understand the fix.
Could you run through the steps please? and would the fix work on an o2 phone in the uk?

nope didn't work, with this fix installed i couldn't get any pics at all, thanks anyway

ArcSoft/MMSUA/PPC/v5.0 do i change this to Rhodium-1.0/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx or miss out the Rhodium-1.0/ bit?
and x-wap profile
http://www.arcsoft.com/mobile/UAProf/ArcSoft-MMSUA-PPC-v50.xml and change this to http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Rhodium-1.0.xml?
im using duttys 6.5 r14 with radio 1.17.25.09 any help is greatly appreciated

i reverted back to win 6.1 as i was recieving mms pics fine in duttys 4.3 final before i tried the 6.5 roms,so i checked the registry entries in 6.1 and they are similar but there is a slight difference.in the first post of this thread it says
http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_HD_T8282-1.0.xml
but in 6.1 its actually
http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Touch_HD_T8282-1.0.xml
so im gonna reflash and try different settings

this worked for me on duttys r14 win 6.5 i can now recieve full size pics on o2 in the uk

I do not have that registry entry on my HD. Do I add it or would it be elsewhere?
Also, what is is "HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\config\mm1\WspHeader" (the entry I am missing)?

Will this .cab work for the Touch HD? I am trying to get rid of those tiny MMS pictures.

Anyone?
I tried adding entries for:
User-Agent = Rhodium-1.0/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
and
x-wap-profile = http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Rhodium-1.0.xml
at this location...
HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\config\mm1\WspHeader
...but no luck?
What am I missing?

More detailed information
Sorry, I haven't been monitoring this forum for a while. Here is more detailed information:
The User Agent information identifies your phone type on the network and therefore what resolution your phone is capable of.
The network servers usually only have information on phones that the cellular provider sells, so if they send an MMS to a phone they do not
sell, the picture is reduced to a size that is generally displayable on the least capable phones. On the Touch HD, this is usually about the
size of a postage stamp. The way to get around this is to change the User Agent data to match a phone they sell with similar resolution.
T-Mobile USA didn't have a phone like this until the release of the Touch Pro 2.
Here is the procedure (for full size MMS photos on the Touch HD for T-Mobile USA) to change this data:
1. Download and install one of the free registry editors; I'm using PHM Registry Editor
2. Start the editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Arcsoft/Arcsoft MMS UA/Config/mm1/WspHeader
3. Your should have 5 items and the bottom 2 should be "User-Agent" and "x-wap-profile"
4. Tap on User-Agent and edit the Data to: Rhodium-1.0/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
5. Tap on x-wap-profile and edit the Data to: http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Rhodium-1.0.xml
6. Close the editor
I've included the Touch HD registry data in the original post if you want to change back in case you use the phone on a network that actually sells it.

Thanks for the reply. The above is what I am missing. I don't have /mm1/WspHeader.
Under /mm1, I have have MMSCSetting and unser that SampleMMSC.
If I create WspHeader, do I need all 5 items?

I found this that you posted in a thread awhile ago:
The registry settings for WSPheader on the Touch HD are:
Accept application/vnd.wap.mms-message,*/*
Accept-Charset us-ascii, utf-8, iso-10646-usc-2, ISO-8859-1, ISO-8859-2
Accept-Language en
User-Agent HTC_Touch_HD_T8282/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
x-wap-profile http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_HD_T8282-1.0.xml
I'll try adding the top 3 and then the other 2 you mention above.
...nope, no luck. If some one sends me a 100k picture, it always ends up becoming a 5k picture. I can hardly see it.

It's odd that you don't have those registry items. Do you have the factory ROM? If not, maybe you don't have the standard Arcsoft MMS software.

Well, I flashed back to a Manila 2.1/WM6.5 ROM, and the settings were there. When I made your changes it started to work!
I was using a Sense 2.5/WM6.5 ROM with HTC messaging before and it may not use Arcsoft.
I guess for now I'll stick with 2.1. Maybe in the future when T-Mobile starts offering the HD2, I'll switch back to Sense 2.5.

Well, I went back to Sense 2.5 an dfigured out how to fix this.
It looks like Arcsoft is not used for MMS, but instead Jataayu? I found the same setting listed in the registry under
HKLM\Software\Jataayu\MMS\SP
There are a UAProfile and UserAgent that can be changed to the same settings listed above.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\MMS\SP]
"UserAgent"="Rhodium-1.0/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx"
"UAProfile"="http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Rhodium-1.0.xml"
Now I have Sense 2.5 and large MMS pictures!

WSPHeader.cab to solve small MMS on Touch HD?

Has anyone tried using WSPHeader.cab to solve the small picture size on received MMS with Touch HD?
The registry settings for WSPheader on the Touch HD are:
Accept application/vnd.wap.mms-message,*/*
Accept-Charset us-ascii, utf-8, iso-10646-usc-2, ISO-8859-1, ISO-8859-2
Accept-Language en
User-Agent HTC_Touch_HD_T8282/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
x-wap-profile http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_HD_T8282-1.0.xml
WSPHeader.cab makes these changes:
Accept application/vnd.wap.mms-message;*/*;
User-Agent prodigy/arcsoft-mmsua-ppc-3.0.0.xx
Profile http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/wizard-2.0.xml
I'm being cautious because I'd rather have small pictures and working MMS than no MMS.
More Information
I forgot to mention that I'm on T-Mobile USA. If anyone is using a Touch HD, Diamond or Pro on T-Mobile USA and the pictures are not being resized, please provide the WSPHeader registry settings.
Here is the registry path:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader

Small pictures in MMS

When i receive an MMS the picture is really small.
It is scaled down because the unbranded HTC Diamond 2 use a standard
MMS-profile. Branded ones seem to have better settings.
Hey, users of O2 or T-Mobile Diamond 2 what profile do you have in the registry
at that location ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader: x-wap-profile
For unbranded ones it is:
http: //www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_Diamond2_T5353-1.0.xml

very small MMS

I've got a problem with MMS. the pictures are very small. In my old Diamond2 I had this problem too, but it was solved changing some registry editors (User-Agent in HKLM/Software/Arcsoft/Arcsoft MMS UA/Config/mm1/WspHeader).
But with new HTC message client (manila 2.5), this registry editors are missing... and I don't know how to solve this. Any idea? thanks.
All messages - Menu - Settings - Options - bottom is Photo resolution... Set to XGA...
it's original resolution. but the problem is not the picture I send. It's the picture I recieve...
Yes i had this problem with my polaris when i flashed the ROM. Basically your network is limiting the size of the pictures based on your user agent.
If you search my posts you should find a more detailed explanation in the polaris forums.
What you need to do is find a phone that your network sells/supports and change the User Agent profile for mms. Since the mms software is not arcsoft the registry entries will not be there, you'll need to find the registry entries for the htc messaging application.
I found the registry editor !!!
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UserAgent
now I got normal pictures size MMS in my Leo !!!!
what I've done:
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UAProfile
changed to: http://www.htcmms.com.tw/claro/diamond-1.0.xml
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UserAgent
changed to: NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
my operator: Claro (Brazil)
What are the correct registry settings for TMO US?

MMS pictures Shrinking in size when downloaded??

I had same problem with HTC Touch Pro
Solution was
There was one guy who had this problem over at esato and he fixed it. This is hidden in a rather long genieric thread so i'll just copy his post here...
"Basically, it has something to do with the phone not being set up, or directing to the correct 'profile' with the network operator. For example, my settings were directing to the Taiwan HTC website for some reason. Because O2 didn't have these settings, it was defaulting the MMS settings to how they were when MMS was first introduced.
The solution is basically using a program like PHM Registry Editor to change the profile, so it directs to the correct details. However, as there aren't any specific Xperia ones yet, you can have it use those of another phone. In my case, I have used the N95 settings, as these are ones set up on O2.
So, in the reg editor you need to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - Software - Arcsoft MMS UA - Config - mm1 - WspHeader
There will be 6 strings in this part of the registry. You just need to edit the 'User-Agent' profile to:
NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
And the 'Profile' string to:
http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml
You don't need to reboot. And that should get the pics coming through at the correct size.
Hope this helps if anyone is having the same problem."

MMS from iPhone - tiny picture?

I have an HD2, but many of my friends have iPhones.
When they send me an MMS picture, I get a TINY little picture. I can save it and open it with the Manilla photo viewer - but it still tiny. At least I can zoom in a bit though.
Does everyone experience this? I know the iPhone camera isn't great, but surely it takes pictures in a higher resolution than 40x40 (or whatever dreadful size I get?!)
If I send them a picture, they get it full size.
Any way to fix this?
The problem isnt with the phones, it's o2's MMS service for some idiotic reason they resize the pictures when they are sent from the senders mob so you receive a tiny pic.
You need to do a registry tweek on the HD2 which will allow you to receive MMS pics normal size.
Using a registry editor (I use PHM Registry Editor)go to the below (bold) location and edit the USERAGENT and UAPorfile registries.
HK Local Machine\Software\Jataayu\MMS\SP
UserAgent = HTC_HD2_T8585
UAProfile =//htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_HD2_T8585-1.0.xml
Reboot and then send yourself or have someone send you a pic via MMS and it should display full screen.
If your settings are already set to the above then try changing it to the following:
UAProfile = //nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml
UserAgent = NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
Thanks for that - I have updated the settings, and will get someone to try sending me a pic.
Its odd though, as I ofter get pics from other people without iPhones and they're usually OK.
Perhaps its just because 90% of the people I know are on O2... and the ones I'm having problems with aren't?
Similar issue.
My son and my mother both have a Samsung Tocco Lite. Whenever I've sent them a picture either via MMS or Bluetooth, or Bluetooth to PC then Bluetooth to their phones, they get a long and thin stretched version of my photo which looks normal on my HD2. Hmmm.
There is no need to set the user agent to a nokia n95. o2 already support the HD2 so please use the appropriate user agent.
