[APP] Pocket Gforce v2.04 RC (04-11-2009) - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hi all If you already follow my Thread of" Pocket Gforce" you know that i stop working on it because of the lack of time.
Atm igot myself whit some spare time and whit lots of requests to continue the project.
So i start developing a new Pocket Gforce (v2) that is fully customizable and works in any Resolution(VGA, WVGA, etc and Landscape or Portrait) as long you got a proper skin.
This is where you come in.
This is the skin that i made and i will explain how you can make one.

BIG UPDATE
The "basic.png" is the skin that i create (i advice to use paint.net or other program to make the skins using layers)
The "basic.ini" is the configuration of the skin like this
//Starts Here (don't change the lines order)

Landscape=1 (0= portrait 1= landscape)

(Midle dial is "S", left one is "Y", right is "Z" and bottom is "X"
And this is the part that show all the skins that you have in the skins folder and where you can change them. To access it push middle button or open "Pocket gForce 2 Options"
Unbaliveble only one person post something and actually no one contact me about skins or beta testing so i suppose no one really cares... but i had 1215downloads of it
So if the community don't want to help i just gonna sell my project as i was always for open source but...
Any way the program is now working whit the Sensors and in the next week i will test whit the gps part.
So do you really care/like about Pocket Gforce ? What to see Pocket Gforce 2 at max capacity, the way you like and above all FREE?
So Start making some skins...

Please keep up the good work, if you received no big feedback for your apps, this might be just because the people are happy with it and got no problems. I see most of the replies for any application is based on errors and bugs.

Hi all i made some major updates as the Sensores are now working and i implemented a graph system.
Check the skins i made so you can understand the possibility of this program, and ppl plz contribute whit some skins tips or critics cuz i need some incentive to keep it free

It should work but back then the sensors where not activated, check the latest versions, but as the originals skins don't have the proper size you will not use the full size of your screen.

I suppose your right but no comments at all is very frustrating...

I have downloaded it. I will reply after the use.

Ah thats awesome
I love the version befor, hmm i dont remember the version number but i truly love it!
One thing i think you implement or change is a tab or mode that the speedometer is the same size as the overall g-meter.
That i think would be nice
Just PM me if you need any testing!

EDIT
I noticed one thing, I have SPB Mobile Shell, on a Touch Diamond, and when i start the app and it change the display to landscape, it wont change back to regular mode after exit.
Cheers

hi !!
i've never used your app, but i can test the last version if you want !!
I'm searching such an app for a long time, because i can't buy me a Nissan GTR !! (To understand the joke, ask google to show you the computer screen of that car !!)
Have a nice day !!

love the v1 app but couldn't get it to show in MPH, so thought i'd give the new version a try. Looking good so far but the screen doesn't fill properly on my TouchHD. Also, can't find a way to exit the app, other than taskmanager which leaves the screen in landscape mode. Thx

Any way the new vertion will be release next monday or so whit the GPS working.

I've no idea how to make a skin, but if you give me some pointers, or links to tutorials i'll have a go, I mean, how hard can it be?? LOL (ducks)

I supose my explanation on the first post is a ls some what confuse, so here is a temporaty tourial as i supose i can make a video and post in youtube
I recommend you grab a copy of the free Paint.Net whit as me tool "magic wand" for select parts of images and have multi layer capability. There are lots of tutorials about it.
1. google some gauge dials like this one for example
2. find some nice background for it
3. use Paint.net and the tool "magic wand" to cut only the dial (normally you need to adjust the % of the tool to get the part you need.
4. you wil get a clean image of the dial without the background, remove also anything you dont want, like needles if it there is any or any text you dont need.
5. make a new image whit you device resolution whit the background
6. Put a new layer on top of the background and copy/past the dial in the spot you want
7. repeat the last step fot the rest of the dials
8. save it as "test.png" MUST BE PNG
9. Open one of the already created skins like "basic.ini"
(check post one for a explanation of the ini file)
10. disable anything that you dont use (like some dials digitals or graphs)
11. start putting coordinates and sizes (use paint.net to get the coordnates for some poits like the center of the dial.
12. save it as "test.png"
13. copy the "test.png" and "test.ini" to the skins folder
14. enjoy

Ok, thought I'd try something simple to start with so i just made an HD version of your basic skin. I wanted to put the speed on there too, but it shows as huge 'g' numbers so i just turned it off in the ini. Once i figure out the concept of skinning properly i'll come up with some others (i prefer a portrait style). Incidentally i the middle dial is 'T' not 'S' as stated in your instructions. Couldn't figure out how to make the dials eliptical rather than round either.

I think i'm getting the hang of it. Tweaked gfAnalizer for the HD and created a new skin from scratch. Let me know what you think, obviously the speedo isn't working but i've left it enabled anyway.

Nice start whit the skins, im going to put the layer files of basic so ppl can use them easy.
Im compiling users skin on then 3post, after some more skins appear

Just been for a test drive
There are a few things i think this app needs:
Exit option
Calibrate or Zero option when installed in car.
0-60 time which starts when car moves off and stops when reaching 60.
Log facility, ideally with gps info stored for overlay on google maps
Regards

New-ish! VJToggleToday 16% bigger Today screen :)

30 June 2006:
Please note:
ToggleNew, ToggleStart and ToggleToday are WM2003 apps ONLY.
VJToggleToday II alpha is WM5 only. You can download the alpha release here. But please read the thread from the end, backwards, to find out its limitations.
Remember that you can launch it with the command line
Code:
-config
to show the settings.
_________________________________________________
23 Oct 2005 Guys, this is a newer beta version. Read second page of thread for info
Guys:
This is hopefully the new and slightly improved version of my today screen hacks seen here and here.
This version is hopefully startup folder safe - I drop it into my startup folder and it does the business quite safely.
- This has been only tested on PPC2003; it should work fine on all PPCs.
- I'm not sure what it will do on WM2005 - Buzz, anyone? It should be fine at removing the Start Bar on WM2005 - but you don't have the equivalent New bar to remove to begin with.
- ToggleStart should work fine on VGA, but ToggleNew will not.
Try it - tell me if it crashes out. Don't put it in your start folder until you know it works. If it works, great!
I don't think this is Wisbar compatible, read page 3 of the thread!
So recall: this program or suite of programs can remove the New bar at the bottom of the today screen. It can also remove the start bar at the top of the screen, shrinking it down to 2 pixels for use in the following manner with PhoneAlarm or your weapon of choice:
After Installation of ToggleNew:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After Installation of ToggleStart:
ToggleStart in use:
Dual functionality - tiny start bar at the top of the screen, alongside PhoneAlarm:
Please uninstall the old version of VJToggleStuff before installing the new version.
CAB version
Individual .exe if required:
ToggleNew
ToggleStart
TodayToggle
Ok - so the cab should install 3 files into \program files\VJSoft\
it should also make some shortcuts in your Programs Menu.
We have 3 files:
BEGINNERS guide:
ToggleNew.exe will Toggle on and off the "New" bar at the bottom of your today screen.
ToggleStart.exe will Toggle on and off the Start bar at the TOP of your today screen. PLEASE ensure you know how to use the shrunken Start bar - it's still there, but tiny and along the top edge. OK button is still where it should be, top right corner of the screen (see the screenshots above). Please read the old threads to get the idea, or just try it! Soft reset if you get stuck.
Beginners can ignore TodayToggle.exe.
ADVANCED USERS:
TodayToggle.exe The three files are actually the same program - but some people will like to assign them to a hardware key to toggle things on and off on a whim so I've made ToggleNew and ToggleStart toggle the single item. However, TodayToggle will, by default, toggle BOTH the New bar and the Start bar at the same time - if that's what you want and know how to use the shrunken start bar.
However, the programs take a command line option if you are secure with creating shortcuts:
Code:
TodayToggle.exe menu
will toggle the New menu bar ONLY
Code:
TodayToggle.exe start
will toggle the Start bar ONLY
Code:
TodayToggle.exe both
or
Code:
TodayToggle.exe
will toggle both at the same time
If you're confident in creating shortcuts, you can get rid of ToggleNew.exe and ToggleStart.exe, and just use TodayToggle.exe with command lines.
Note that TodayToggle.exe also contains three icons, so using something like claunch or a shortcut you can assign the Min, Max and UpDown icons as appropriate.
/end of advanced user guide
All:
I hope you find these useful. Read the old threads to get the hang of what you can do with it.
You can get my phonealarm skin from here. Please read this thread to read how to use it with ToggleStart.
I consider this software beta until you guys report back and say it's ok or worst case, it turned your PDA into a Nokia.
Don't forget - after installing these hacks you'll need a bigger wallpaper to fill the extra space! If you don't, the wallpaper tiles itself.s
Also - if you use something like SPB battery monitor at the top of the screen, you won't be able to use a shrunken Start Bar (ie ToggleStart) correctly. Disable it or read this thread
Please post screenshots if you do anything nice with this stuff.

August 31 2005:
- SIP keyboard panel issue [Grumble's post]. It will hide itself in normal use
Nice work Vijay but (you knew it was coming didnt ya) the function I wanted this app for was the Hide New. When I run it, 'new' disappears as expected but leaves a white line in its place. Also if I exit an app it leaves the input button showing (see screenshot).
Is this something to do with the size of the bitmaps created for themes ?
Oh well a nice app anyway and Im sure I can get used to the white line
Yep Grumble, this issue is posted on the old threads - I'll update the first post to remind users - you now need a bigger wallpaper to fill the screen
The white line was actually on your wallpaper to begin with! The PPC tiles the wallpaper if it's not big enough - so it's actually repeating your wallpaper, white line and all. The white line is actually hidden behind the start bar at the top of your screen normally. Try running togglestart to see!
I've noticed the keyboard input thing - it seems to disappear in normal usage.
V
The case here is that your wallpaper ain't big enough. PLease remember when the people made their TSK, they did not put into consideration that the bottom bar could be knocked off. I have the same problem but I just made a way to cover it up. As for the keyboard being there, I noticed this problem comes when you have MortPlayer installed and when you hit the red phone button to take it off your screen. Basically it leaves the keyboard item there.
Mvmajorem - did you try the new version?
I had to rewrite the thing from scratch in Visual Studio 2005. I'm not sure if I screwed anything up on the way.
V
I've tried the new plugin and it does leave the keyboard behind ruining what you wanted to achieve in the first place.
Still thanks for the release, the icon you used now is better, that is all i can say.
BTW, is there a way to make the Start Bar transparent or even change the Start button icon without the use of 3rd party software.
Guys, if the keyboard icon comes up, try pressing the green call button and then going back. It should be gone. I might look into this issue if it's a big problem.
Transparent start bar - kinda possible, but not without some 3rd party software as far as I know. I might look into knocking something together, but I'm working on a couple of other hacks and something that might make ToggleToday even more useful I hope. It's more important right now
V
Vijay,
I've gone back to the older version. I like it much better without the keyboard sticking out.
I love the program!
BTW: Where can I learn to make these kinds of software?

Mvmajorem - I'll look into the keyboard issue. I don't think it happens with the old version right? If not, it should be easy to fix.

Vijay
This is great. The two combined and on one hardware button.
This is my screen ;
Kill Bob, Mick, Harry - any of them, I just don't care !!!
Rick GM - lovely!
I've got a couple more refinements to make... will try and keep you posted.
Rick - did you notice the problem with the SIP (keyboard icon) with the previous version? I'm not really doing anything different with this version, but the SIP icon pops up occassionally. I can force it to hide, but it would require reworking the program into something that will eat CPU. I don't want that - if you find the problem, just press the green key (call button) and go back and it should be gone.
I've had to enlarge my NotesToday as well because there's so much more room now!
It seems like no one is interested in my new program which goes nicely with a fresh Today screen - it causes the today to pop up on hardware keypress, but only stay onscreen for as long as you hold the button. So eg you're in Contacts, but want to check NotesToday, you can pop into Today and back again to Contacts with no clicks.
Keep posting screenshots and/or problems!
V
Vijay
The keyboard icon does stay after you close an application but I just press my Toggle hardware button twice (diasble/enable) and it's gone.
Haven't tried the new app yet but am more than happy with the functionalityof what you've already done!
Does anybody know - where to get this plugin?
[/img]
Is it normal that after a soft reset, the files are gone?!!!
vijay555
Could you please pack your skin in cab file, i don't understand how to install it. Thank you in advance!
Vijay,
Anyway you can address the keyboard issue ? That did not exist with your previous version.
BTW, this works awesome is start up. Had not had issue with it at all.
Please! Solve the SIP issue, it s really annoying. It s good app!

[new release] VJBigPhone VGA Phone Dialler Fix (beta)

New readers, please skip this part, read the rest of this post, and then come back here:
[edit 29 November 2005 02:32]
Guys, I've updated to version 0.5; download the cab here
I've left the original cab link on my website in case v0.5 screws up.
I've only updated VJBigPhoneRes in cab v0.5, not the standalone.
Note that in order to install the new cab, you will have to run the original
VJBigPhoneRes before the installation in order to close it down.
Then install the new cab.
Additionally, download this cab to fix the button text (it puts text in the middle) and this file to fix the backdrop painting issue by putting a new backdrop in your \windows\ folder, thanks to Azhad!
The new version also fixes the wireless manager (see below), and hopefully moves all buttons. I can't test this without your help, so give it a go and post here if there are problems.
I haven't fixed the see through backdrop, I explain why below.
VJBigPhoneRes cannot fix the caller progress dialog the first time the phone is run (eg after a soft reset), because until you've made a call or shown the dialog, the caller progress doesn't exist. However, after you've loaded the phone, it should fix it all times in the future.
Rotation and fixing the phone won't force the phone on top now. It should all be done in the background.
If this version works, it's one step away from a translatable version for Hebrew etc. So please test.
Once we've got the dialler buttons working, I'll work on fixing the paint problem.]
Original post
Guys,
I'm sure all you Universal guys have applied the VGA hack and have since discovered how it foobars your phonedialler.
Until some one gets around to making a dynamic resolution changer, I'm presenting VJBigPhone to permit you to use the phone dialler in VGA mode.
It is hot off the press. Let me say, this took many hours of finicky work, and I'd appreciate a donation if you use it, because I did this for you guys. I don't use my Universal as a phone, so this is purely for me to give to the Community </end guilt trip>
Ok. first
it's for the English edition of WM5 only
I will get around to making it translatable, but right now my behind and my head both hurt from too much coding
The cab will install two files in your
start menu > vijay555 > vjbigphone
The file VJBigPhone can be launched each time you want to fix the phone. You will have to do this on startup and each time you change screen orientation.
The file VJBigPhoneRes is resident version. That means it will stay in memory and fix the phone every time you change orientation automatically. To unload the resident version, just launch it a second time. It will give you a message to show it's been closed.
Choose which version you require (but use only one at a time).
For most purposes VJBigPhoneRes should be best, and can be placed in your startup folder to fix the phone automatically.
This should work at any DPI, although I don't know if the button images are always available.
Example use:
before VJBigPhone
{

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After VJBigPhone
And landscape:
After VJBigPhone
Call Progress
Wireless Manager:
before:
after:
(note Wireless Manager will only be fixed after you've loaded it once. If you don't load it once, it won't fix it. So load wireless manager before VJBigPhoneRes, or force it to be fixed by changing rotation AFTER you've loaded it)
Issues:
- The buttons look pretty good, although the text seems to be a bit offline. I can't fix that, it seems to be coded internally.
- The dialler skins built in don't seem big enough to cover the bottom of the window; the background shows through a little. I can't fix that.
[edit:
I've figured out why the dialler background looks funny.
This screenshot shows a composite of a QVGA screen and a VGA screen resized to match.
The OS accounts 26 pixels for the start bar and the soft menu buttons. However, going from QVGA to VGA, you can see that those bars are only half of the size the OS expects at QVGA. So, we have a number of pixels unaccounted for, and they don't get painted.
This can be partially corrected, but I will only try to fix this after the dialler buttons are working correctly)
Composite:
Cab is available above.
Please leave feedback here or on my forum
Don't forget the donation!
If you can't make a donation, at least check out my ads on my webpage.
V
v0.2: Hopefully fixed the bug with the video call buttons
v0.3: Now supports resident version (fixes the phone 0.5 seconds after you rotate, to allow for any slowdown caused by other software).
v0.5: Fixes updates in the background so phone doesn't pop up on rotation, fixes wireless manager and hopefully corrects all buttons.
I will try now, YOU ARE A LEGEND, AND IF IT WORKS,Donations on the way to you bank account. Have a bloody wonderful life and remember you are a legend.........
[updated at 2320 11 November 2005]
Seal and anyone else: you might want to redownload the cab if you downloaded it in the last 30 mins.
I've just removed the bit that changed the titlebar text to say my name. As much as I love egotism, it might intefere with other programs including one I'm writing myself
No functional difference so if you like my name, keep it there!
V
Just trying it, vijay.
I thought you'd been quiet lately. Didn't realise you were doing your inventing...
I can't get this to work. I opened the CAB and it installed. Nothing in the phone changed. I did a soft reset just in case.
I tap the icon Programs -> vijay555 -> VJBigPhone -> VJBigPhone and I see the phone dialler screen with a dialog over the top saying 'Already fixed the Phone!'
I tap OK on the dialog and nothing changes.
Where did I go wrong? :?:
I'm in landscape mode and have been since I installed it.
Great to hear we might have this solution though. Good work!
Edit: When I flipped to portrait mode and then ran the app again it worked.
SiliconS: it should work in any orientation.
Install the app.
On launching VJBigPhone it will find the phone app. If it's not loaded, it'll load it.
Then, it'll fix the keys and make a note that it's fixed the keys.
Then if you try to run it again you'll get the dialog that it's already fixed em.
However, if you change orientation, the phone app positions all the keys, so you have to run VJBigPhone again.
I wonder why it didn't work the first time you ran it?
How is it now?
Post screenshots if they're helpful or interesting!
V
PS Quiet? I got the fullscreen terminal services hack out this week, feeling the wrath of my better half for my efforts! A bunch of other stuff releaed over the last week or so (smaller things I think) and been working on my website.
I'll be trying to launch a blog very shortly to post my musings on what needs hacking. Left Handed scrollbars have my name all over them...
OK: some quick 'n dirty first feedback.
Would be nice if the text on the buttons were larger. Not a big deal though.
Is there some way of hooking into the screen rotate event in the OS to capture the need to re-run the app? Maybe cos it's not memory-resident it doesn't know what's going on.
Great step forward though.
and lmao @ "send me a small donation via paypal. It will [help] me to keep giving you stuff free!" (I'm assuming that's a deliberately ironic statement! )
tis supposed to be ironic, although the sentiment is that the software is all free. However, if you like it and it makes you feel all tingly inside, send a donation! But you don't have to. But I might start killing puppies if you don't
Text on the buttons is nothing to do with me, I can't fix that. They're fixed by the dialler, unforunately.
I could hook the rotation event, but hooking is very cpu intensive (because you're pretty much hooking every event, and then filtering the ones you don't want. As such, it's wasteful. As is polling every few seconds). I generally don't hook or poll  but if there's an overwhelming need, I will. But, I don't change orientation that often, so it's not too bad.
V
Another thought: This could be handy in the car, combined with PocketZenPhone: Switch to car profile in PZP which runs VJBigPhone to make sure that the dialler is full size ready for calls on the move. Hmm. I can see that being useful... We'll see
Other than that I think I'd need to map it to a button somehow so that I could fix the phone instantly if I needed the dialler.
Edit: amended cos my original post sounded negative...
The video phone button is stuffed up, it is still in the old position, you can still see it in landscape view.
I noticed that in all your pictures the video call button is missing.
Hmmm, I don't have a video call button.
I guess it's something from the extended ROM i never installed.
Can you post a screenshot?
V
II got an error "Couldnt't find the Phone", maybe cuz iI have hebrew language installed.... :\
zpdy, yes, it's clearly English language only. Once I get it working properly, I'll convert it over to a translatable version.
V
Ok, thanks to Buzz I unlocked my Extended Rom and installed the video call poo. FYI, it slows down your system. I'm going to clear it out as soon as this prog is finished.
So, this version (0.3) now fixes the video call buttons and some other stuff.
However, I don't use the phone at all on my universal, so I don't know if I've missed any buttons, so let's say if you find any issues, please be nice and mail me, pm, or post on my forum/here. Send a screenshot if you can.
The new cab contains a standalone version, in case you have troubles with the resident one.
The other file is a resident version. Despite talking out of my rear end earlier, the resident version should use minimal resources, and will fix the dialler 0.5 seconds after your change orientation (to allow for any slowdown caused by other software you're using).
Either version can be put in your startup folder. I recommend the resident version.
Please post if you find any issues.
V
ps if this technique works, I'll get around to the foreign language version some time.
vijay555 YOU ARE A LEGEND, thanks for the phone skinning program.

How's it working for you guys?
Any issues?
I dread to hear them, but you might as well get them off your chest!
V
fyi all: don't use a task killer to close the phone app. if you do vjbigphoneres won't update the buttons again until you change orientation. use vjbigphone as a standalone fix or get your taskiller to ignore cprog.exe
v
Seal, thanks for the donation!
Can somebody post here or send me a pic of the qvga dialler? I'm not sure if I'm formatting the screen entirely correctly, that white bit at the bottom bothers me and I can't remember what the qvga dialler looks like. The VGA setup is already flaky enough to risk de-ozvga-ing
If this technique is working ok for everyone then I'll tidy it up a bit internally and try to work on an international version. And some other stuff I had up my sleeves
V
Yes if you could fill the bottom of the dialer area so you can't see the screen behind it, that would be awesome.

[30/05] UPDATED Minimal Flow for ThrottleLauncher

So here I am with my second customization thread.
After making my minimal dialer skin click I also found that the Touch Diamond interface for ThrottleLauncher was a bit too dark and playful for me.
So I decided to make a modification to make it all a bit lighter and more stylish. And something like 12 hours later, here I am!
Changed almost all graphics and a lot of settings to make it and app that suits me.

3.1 Go to the tab "Items" and deselect everything (ALSO THROTTLETODAY).
Something like Batterystatus can still be run but bus be placed under ThrottleToday
4 On your PPC go to: Start>Programs>ThrottleConfig and select Minimal Flow
from the drop-down box.
4.1 Press "reload plugin" and click exit.
5 ENJOY!
Download Minimal Flow Weather.zip for a lot more configuration and a weather tab!
-First install Mortschript, wich can be found here.
-Then install Minimal Flow V1.0 and after the installation also install the updated version, both to device.
-After installation select the "Minimal Flow Weather", press reload plugin and enjoy! The extended configuration can by pressing "Settings" on the settings tab.
Updated version of the weather version, no more error on load-up! thanks to APBilbo! thank you ^^
I put a lot of effort in making these kind of things, a little donation would make my day!

In my opnion that looks a lot better! ^.^
Anyway, I am stuck on a few things and I was hoping one of you could help me out.
HELP ME OVER HERE! xD
1. More of a simple question to brainstorm about.
There is a tab Contacts and a tab Settings, how do I have to make a 4 letter icon out of this? Contacts is now PEPL (people) and settings is now CONF (configuration). I don't like them very much so please help me come up with another one.
2. I don't want the background to be black and there are two options to achieve this.
First of all I could make a tsk that would have the my own background. The problem with this is that if I make one in ThemegenCE, it would go from flat black bars to the glossy grey ones.
Secondly, someone could explain me how to modify the config.xml from throttle launcher so it would load it up with the theme and cover up the original background. The problem with this solution is that I don't know wich line to add. (the parameter=texture gave me problems because it said the skin.xml was invalid?) I think the tsk option is the best so that people could still use their own backgrounds.
Anyway, atm I am working on replacing all icons wich is 40% done or so.

1. CNFG? PEEP? PPLE? hmmm, i see where the problem is...this is kind of hard. CONF sound really good.
Could you use icons instead of text maybe?

I mean change the 4 letter words to little grey silhouettes or simple images.
As for implementing your background in a .tsk, you need a theme editor program... I used one before but can't think of what its called. Or you could just supply us with the jpg and we can set it as our wallpaper. BTW This looks really sweet, about how long untill it's done?
Ok, I think I will release the wall seperate. Unless someone comes with a solution.
I wont change the text to icons because this just looks stylish
The icons for the settings are complete. Some other things to do but first I need to get me some sleep. Tomorrow I think I will finish it.
Good night.
ADDY or ADDR for contacts.
setting is also a nest of eggs (old usage) but EGGS might confuse too much.

What does ADDY stand for? never heard of it. Anyway I think CALL and CONF are ok for now. Maybe I'll have a dream with inspiration.
Good night.
just release a background and people can use the allblack tsk floating around and apply the picture you provide as a background through pics and video with 0% transparency, works fine
privacy issue, sorry
PREF would also do it. Though I'm used to CONF by now and realy like it. I hope I'm done with skinning in about an hour and then only alingment etc.
Looks awesome!!! . Really nice work, I look forward testing it . About your questions:
1) For people.... may be something like "PALS"? And for settings...."TUNE"... Anyway I think that CONF is just right .
2) As I see you have done lot of working with the setup I suppose you already know the tutorial. It's true that it's a little bit unupdated.... So, here's how everything is organiced:
- 1rst layer: the background of the today screen back. Will be shown only if the transparency is set to true on the skins.
- 2nd layer: rowbackimage (this one is not documented...). Here you have an example:
Code:
<param name="rowbackimage" value="rowback.png"/>
What it will do is wrap the image to the row size behind it. This image can be a transparent png to show the 1rst layer.
Hope this helps!! If you still have doubts, let me know!!
- 3rd layer: icons .

Ok thanks al lot!
I managed to get a different BG in the programs tab, by editing the skin.xml in skins/programs. But what if I want to add a BG to e.g. the HOME tab? The settings for the home tab are all in the config.xml and when I add
Code:
<param name="rowbackimage" value="rowback.png"/>
to it, it wont load it up. Is this because the home tab is cut up into different rows?
If you could explain me how to add a ackground into the main config.xml file I would appreciate that alot.

[UTIL] MobileMonger - Whats using up your Storage?

Hi all,
I have lurked on this forum many times and have found it very useful especially in terms of my recent ROM update issues with my new Diamond .. which turned out to be the HK version - gah! .. but that is another story.
I just wanted to let people know that I have written a tool to show storage space use on your Windows Mobile in a TreeMap. There probably are other tools like this kicking around, but I couldn't find one that was any good.
Main Memory fills up pretty fast on the Diamond if your not careful to install absolutely everything to the storage card, and also set your default save location to the storage card.
The screen shot below is of the app and the Main Memory of my Diamond after I found and killed off the offending files.
Anyhow, if your interested you can mosey on over to the download page: here
Cheers,
James.

welcome to our forum. interesting tool!
Thanks for the welcome
I am curious to find out if anyone will find it useful. I have put it on several phones of guys I work with and they have found all sorts of garbage clogging up their phones.
Will give it a few days - maybe some people will try it out.
J.
thank you for the app/tool!
working fine and showing all...
in yr pic i can see you are using the app in portrait but it takes all the screen.
warning: this app is better viewed in landscape. this mean i have to stop tf3d and rotate the screen or use the gtool....in portrait the app is 1/3 of the screen. anything i should know? vga/qga related?
i can not see any garbage but this might be as a result of intensive use of SkTools and it's cleaning tools.
opera is a monster in device and iGO8 is the champion on my internal memory.
i'll take a better look in the evening.
Thanks for trying it out!
Yeah - I'm not handling the switch to landscape mode, however if you start the app while already in landscape mode it should be fine.
I'm using the HTC stock ROM in my Diamond so I'm not really sure how to disable TF3D and change into Landscape. However its fairly easy to change the code to handle the event and have it recalc for the new dimensions. Will put it in 1.1! Shouldn't take long
Cheers,
J.
thank you
will try this out on the rom im using when i get home later
Oh yeah - and something that is probably not obvious to everyone is that you can click on the folders to zoom-in and take a closer look at the folder contents.
Maybe I should underline the folder names or colour them blue or something ... Hmmm.. will have a think about that.

lol i already tried with no success! maybe because is too small (1/3 of the screen).
btw, disabling tf3d is easy. go to settings/personal/today/items and disable the tf3d like any other plug in . after that you''l have the "old" today screen.
go to settings/system/screen and rotate yr screen.
i did the above, rotate the screen and open yr app but again i got only 1/3 of the screen!

Thanks for telling me about the Setting->Today->Items. That did indeed turn off TF3D, but then on the Settings->System->Screen couldn't find the screen rotate thing. There are three tabs (Alignment, Clear Type, Text Size) - It is 1am here, perhaps it will be there in the morning.

Can you tell me if it works for you on your Diamond? 1.1 CAB is here

Could you try 2 scenarios for me?
- Start up the app and then rotate to landscape before doing a scan
- Start up the app, do a scan and let it render, then rotate.
If there is a major time difference in the time taken to rotate between these two scenarios, then the problem is something to do with MobileMonger. Otherwise it must be something else. Hmm.
Cheers,

Did that and the screen and app rotate instantly.

Yes - should be - I have DPI detection to change the font sizes up for devices less than 192 DPI ... i.e. 320x240. Obviously since there are less pixels the folder depth displayed can be less ... but on the up-side rendering is faster

I got mine pre-release from Hong Kong and since had a difficult time getting the official updated 1.93 stock ROM for it. (It came with 1.34!!!)
3 do not offer the Diamond as one of their supported phones, but I can tell you its works really well (Just have to get the URL for their Planet 3 service - which I have if you need it)
I'm on the $8(100MB) data plan and have push HTML email from Exchange 2007 enabled with full attachments - and it works very well. Small email takes 5 seconds from the time it hits exchange to then hit my phone.

0.0.4 version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437773
TouchLaunch is simple application launcher, which scans start menu shortcuts, and list them alphabetically. Kind of similar to scoll launcher
but this has new quick alphabetic scroll function. This is very early alpha and my first program release.
Features:
-finger scrolling
-quick alphabet shortcuts
-skinnable
-you can choose whether it closes after program launch or not

+6 premade skins
+closeAfterLaunch feature
[0.0.3][10/10/2008]

+ability to choose whether minimize or terminate on exit
+automatic closing ( either minimize or exit on closing )
+it's minimizes correctly, so you can leave it on running background
+should work on all different language roms!
Known "bugs":
-skin change takes about 5 sec... so don't panic
-if closeAfterLaunch feature is on and you switch to other application,
TouchLaunch will close in 2 seconds.
-if you try to launch phone ( or calendar ), it will launch softaware and after that it will crash...
-using bitmaps multiples memory usage, but you can avoid that using simpler skins
-menu is ugly
Requirements:
.NET CF 2.0
wm6 ( might work with wm5 ), i have only tested on emulator and on my elf
qvga or vga
Instructions:
Download and install the cab file
or download the zip file, extract it to any folder on your ppc and run the exe file.
Making new skins you can look example from premade skins in the skin folder at installation folder, two of them ( white.xml and original.xml ) are commented. Adding new just copy your skin xml file in the skins folder.
ToDo:
-better skin support
-adding some animations
-icons ( maybe someone could give me a hint )
-bug fixes
-landscape support
-performance tweaking
-optimizing memory usage
Feel free comment, and give me more ideas!
If like it, you can always donate to keep me motivated

Yes, you can change all the colors and also change placements of different elements by modifying skin.xml file. It doesn't support using background bitmaps, but i'm planning to make that for nex release.
Every object has these attributes, which you can modify:
Code:
<ELEMENT>
<NAME>mainList</NAME>
<BGCOLOR>105105105</BGCOLOR>
<FORECOLOR>245245245</FORECOLOR>
<X>12</X>
<Y>0</Y>
<WIDTH>228</WIDTH>
<HEIGHT>268</HEIGHT>
</ELEMENT>
the colors are 9 digit RGB values ( example. BGCOLOR is 105105105, so it has 105 red, 105 green, 105 blue ). Make sure you always use three numbers, even if value is under 100, for example 5 -> 005.

Actually you can use select image, because it use the same KlistControl code base. Just copy png bitmap to execution folder and name it as select.png. The dimensions must match the dimensions configured in the skin.xml. So, by default it's 228x40.
Looks nice
Few pointers if I may it starts kind of slow it takes about 4 seconds to open it on my kaiser. And the search engine is kind of not finger friendly it,s hard to select a letter with your thumb. I think that bigger letters would do the trick for example you could place half of the alphabet on the left side of the screen and the rest on the right side or introduce the search engine similar to the one present in IContacts.
Great job

Thanks for responses and ideas!
The slow start time is mostly compact framework's fault, one idea is to let it run on background or switch to WIN32 api... but i did look up Icontact's source and felt it was not my kind of cookie But there's some tweaking that could be done. About the scroll touch, i find it quite good on my touch.
It helps to not really trying to hit right alphabet but instead follow what the on screen indexshower shows, and if it's wrong letter just slide your finger up or down. have to say that i'm not big fan of the idea dividing the alphabets but the Icontact alphabet's style could be an idea...
Btw. out of concept, but does anyone know any free coctail databases? Because i have done earlier a program that displays coctail recipes, but the database i use is something that i can't publish. firstly because i don't have authors permission and secondly because it's in Finnish It would perfect if database would be in XML format.
Just added a cab installer.
If the memory footprint is low and by saying low I mean less than 500kb then it's a good idea. WIN32 api??? Well that's double dutch to me
Well I think I've got too big thumbs While holding the phone in one hand I'm not able to access the alphabet with my thumb. I've tried pressing the alphabet area and then slide it up or down to choose a letter but I end up scrolling the list with applications up or down. So maybe widening the alphabet touch area would do the trick. Also I think that moving the indexshower to the upper or even upper right part of the screen would prevent it from being covered by a thumb while picking a letter.
I don't know any cocktail databases at least not free ones
Would it be possible to map it to the "all programs" soft key in TF3D?
Looks nice, thanks for the good work.
Installed and tried it. A pgm which works great. Very handy as I do not have every programs set for my iFonz icons. I couple of suggestions:
1) To group pgm names by alphabet, something like iContact. When the scroll reaches a particular alphabet, the alphabet will appear in the middle, more like you're selecting from the left alphabet option.
2) A handy A to Z table like iContact rather than the alphabets tiny-ly arranged on the left.
I can live with the color but if there's skin to select, it will be prefect.
Thank you for such brilliant pgm.

Thank you for such brilliant pgm.

Thank you!
1) That's possible and a good idea.
2) I'm going with tiny alphabets for now, but that would be nice option to add later versions, though i have to make whole new control for that.
The new version has the old color scheme and new white one, i would like i have some darker on like on scroll launcher also.. maybe some talented skinning artist in this forum could provide me that I'm not so talented with skin creating.

That's really great idea Anyone know, how to get path for todaywallpaper? I added background bitmap function to alphabet bar, but haven't yet tested it. I have also modifying the list control to support bg bitmaps... I think it would be in next version.
Hi avellant

asking if you can add
1- app font changer size
