I have 132 Business contacts, 110 Personal Contacts, and 32 Services/Work Related Contacts.
That's over 200, so I would say no (But i am syncing to my exchange server, don't know if that makes a difference)

Let me guess: some sales person told you this.
No, of course there is no such limitation. The number of contacts is only limited by your storage space.
What you might be confusing you here is the number of contacts your SIM card can hold. That is usually around 100. But that's irrelevant and storing contacts on a SIM card in 2009 is like riding a horse to work.

slow when importing/editing contacts

after i have upgraded my G1 to JF1.5, i want to copy all contacts from my SIM card. there were just about 86 entries in SIM but it took like 20 minutes to copy all to the phone. furthermore, editting a contact always takes long times until the unresponding process appears.
i'm wondering is there any people had this problem before? and what is the solution. THX

sim contacts editing

Is there an easy way to edit all the contacts on my SIM card? ive got some bogus names or like first name with a last initial or "Mike Cell" (i know vague right?)? While I have my SIM contacts imported into my phone and I can change the info on my phone but it doesnt change it on the SIM card itself and I really dont wanna go through this **** again when I get bored and root my phone...
any suggestions, looks like there is an app that i could pay for (contact2sim pro?) but im looking for something simpler...
by the way, this is my first android phone (just got it today) so i am not all that savvy with everything (yet)
When I first got my G1, it automatically imported the contacts off my SIM into the phone, which then synched with my Gmail contacts. I then edited the contacts through Gmail and it automatically updated on the phone on the next sync. I also found another app later that you could use to format every number on my phone the same way. So before, some numbers were formatted differently, and after they all were formatted as +1.XXX.XXX.XXXX. Can't remember the name of that app, but anyway I think you're looking for the first part of my answer.
Edit: The app I mentioned, which you may or may not need, is Contacts Cleanup by Peter Baldwin.

you sir win the prize but have no paypal link for me to buy you a beer
this bit of information just made sim contacts obsolete as long as i continue to use an android phone and for 530 bux im not going anywhere soon other than to maybe file bankruptcy lol
a method to edit the sim card would still be nice, if all else i can pull my htc excalibur out of the shoebox and do it on there
No need to send me donations... but if you want, feel free to donate a couple bucks to a charity. We in the Android community do what we can.

3 sim card questions

1. Has anyone noticed a really long delay when adding a contact to the sim card? Infact i think you have to soft reset for it to show!
2. How do you copy a contact made in the phone memory to the sim card?
3. Contacts can be selected in 'contacts' to show: all, sim or phone but in text messaging you don't have that option, all contacts are shown, is there a way round that?
Real basic stuff that seems to have been overlooked???

lol... get with the times mate... using a SIM card to store your contacts is OOOOOLLLLLDD skool. Most people use some sort of synchronisation nowadays to store their PIM data. Especially if you have a windows mobile device.
In answer to your questions:
1. Not noticed this myself... i actually copied all of my contacts (190 odd in one hit) from phone contacts to SIM and it took about 3 seconds. They showed up immediately.
2. Open the contact under "all people"... click on menu->save contact to sim
3. Only way round that i can think of would be to maybe use groups? Create two groups... one called "SIM" and the other "PHONE"... assign contacts to each group accordingly. I do agree that you shouldnt have to do this though, which is why i have deleted my contacts from the SIM card again. (I was only testing the function out anyway)

You could try using the Microsoft My Phone app that comes pre-installed on the HD2... that will sync your contacts, texts, pictures etc with your online Live ID.

How Do I Delete Contacts On My Phone?

I imported contacts from my google account to my phone(stupid move). I should have just selected show contacts from google account. Now I have bunch of useless contacts on my phone(every single person I emailed with gmail, 80+). There's an option to show only contacts with numbers. I just don't get why it imports contacts without phone numbers(just like all the other android phones I had).
Now, how I delete the contacts off my phone?
Al I wanted was import contacts from my google account(with phone numbers cause those are friends I know in real life) and then export them to my sim card. I can't do that cause when you import contacts from your google account it imports everyone that you ever emailed. So stupid.

i know there is an option in your contacts to show only contacts with numbers.
having your contacts from Google is better imo.no need to mess with your sim
I know having contacts from google is better. It'll always be on your account, but I would like to have my contacts(with phone numbers only) on my sim in case I use a non android phone in the future.

why would u even consider using anything else but android?
like i said go to contacts hit menu and look for display group and click on contacts with numbers
theres an option where you can just show contacts with phone numbers, rather than everyone you have ever emailed. also, just clear some of the contacts you dont normally are in touch with via gmail.
If you wanna delete your contacts simply go into the market and search delete contacts don't remember the icon what it looks like but you should find the app that works

yea well, it's call future proofing. My next phone will probably be android, but just in case.
stop saying contacts with numbers. When you try to copy phone contacts to sim card it shows all contacts, not just ones with phone numbers. You don't get it. Even if I display only contacts with numbers it'll still show all contacts when copying them to sim card.

[Q] How to store contacts & email on SD Card

I have a lot of contacts 1,000 and quite a few emails and folders that I want to put on my phone.
However, when I try to do this.....the phone slows down and warns me to free up space.
How do you sync with your phone.......but tell the phone to put those on the Memory Card?
Someone else may have a better answer for you, but the only thing I know you you can do is create a word document and type all of your contacts and their information in that document.
Then save that document on your SD card.

The only thing I can think of for your emails is to use a different email client rather than pocket outlook. Take a look in the WM apps forums.
Most contact managers use the Outlook database, but you might also have some luck trying a different app.
