I have a mytouch 3g and i was wondering if anyone else is having this same issue. My screen was real easy to rotate when i first got it, but now it wont rotate at all. Does anyone know what could cause this?
This can happen if you flash different roms without wiping in between ... the old accelerometer data can stay in the file system and stop rotation from working on the new rom.
Have a look at this post: http://ostebaronen.dk/?p=148
I havent flashed any roms on it.
Same problem
This may be a noob question, but I just can't seem to find a direct answer anywhere else here. Despite the fact that I wiped my phone before flashing a new ROM I still ran into the same accelerometer problem described here. As posted above and on CyanogenMod's FAQ's I tried to enter recovery mode's console to fix the problem, but since I have no keyboard on the myTouch 3g, I can't fix it.
Can someone give a clear description of what I need to do to be able to fix this problem? Obviously, I am basically a beginner with Android, so it would be great if that could include descriptions of how to use adb to fix it (since that seems to be what I need to do). Thanks a lot
Install the drivers and SDK utilities you need to connect your PC to your phone:

Hi folks,
First I wanna take a moment to thank the community for all the great work.
with out your hard work and excellent tutorials I would not have been able to do this on my own.
I Originally had JF1.42RC33, and had used MarcusMaximus's AppstoSD application found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3627492#post3627492
When JF put out his 1.5ADP recently I went ahead and flashed that without wiping. I also updated the Radio immedietly after flashing JF's ROM. Everything was working fine at this point.
Then when johnowa636 posted his Aero port based on the JF build.
Found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511183
I decided to flash that, because I really like Aero. Everything at this point was good, with the occasional forceclose error coming from com.vending.something (sorry i just don't remember the excact error)
So recently when Ultra Spikey posted his Aero theme for JF1.5
Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482799
I decided to Flash once again the Original JF1.5 I had downloaded from JF's blog. and then I flashed the theme created by Ultra Spikey.
Everything seems fine, but it's not. All the apps installed work and function as they should and the Market sees all my installed apps and purchased apps. it sees them as installed and some have updates available.
The problem Im having is when I clik on update, I get a starting download, but it just sits there and never downloads. I've tryed on both 3G and wi-fi and still it is not working. I also tryed to just download an app i didn't have. and also it would not download.
If anyone can help guide me in the right direction so I can learn what is wrong and how to fix it, I would really appreciate it.
I have the SDK installed in windows XP 64bit and also have a drive I installed Debian 5.0 on. I installed Debian so I could partition the SD, but Im a totall newbie to it.
I hope I've provided enough info. If there is anything else I can add please let me know, And thanks for taking the time to read this.
Something similar happened to me today after I (finally) got A2SD working on JF1.5. Apps were downloading fine initially, but then stalled. Got stuck on the same "Starting download..." step just like yours did. I left it there, remembering people having a similar issue a month ago or so, and eventually they downloaded and installed fine.
Is it just the market throttling people who download too many apps within a short time frame?
Off-topic question. Does the Aero v1.3 theme work with Open Home, or is it purely for the stock launcher?
Thanks for the reply ^^
I'll try just waiting and see if the download issue resolves itself.
I do have open home installed. it seems to work just fine with Ultra spikey's theme. i've a atached 2 screenshots.
Problem is fixed.
waiting did not solve the problem I had downloading apps.
Having no other input for ideas on how to go about fixing this I simply wiped, Reformated the ext2 partition ( just to be sure I started with a clean slate ), and reflashed JF1.5.
I then Applied the Aero theme and Finally used the A2SD method found here:

All is working well
I would close this thread, but I do not know how.
I recently wanted to try moving onto a different build of Android. Before I was using Desire build with hastarin's kernel. I wanted to go ahead and try a Nexus build and replaced the Android folder with the newer one. For some reason after the opening animation and it going onto the lockscreen it vibrates and turns off. Always doing the same thing. I even tried changing to another build and now it's doing it for all of them. Anyone here that can help me figure this out? It was working fine before without a problem. I am using radio 2.15, Dutty's Rom (which is Android friendly), I don't know if I forgot to erase something or what. Please anyone else having this problem at least post if this is happening and if anyone has resolved it please tell me how. Thank You.
Forgot to mention I use an extended battery and that this itself could be the issue. Seems to be solved. Still have the problem, but at least I know why. No one has seemed to solve it
BTW can the mods put this in the FAQ somewhere? It's pretty important and it's somehow nowhere near the 1st post of the HD2 Android FAQ.
I had same problem. when i deleted the google maps cache folder on sd card everything went fine.
Apologies for another GPS thread but i have tried all suggestions in popular threads using methods such as faster fix and GPS status's A-GPS tools and the method posted in "GPS CM7 fix".
Im currently running CM 7.02 (Stable) and radio 26.08.04.07_M3, which i was told had great overall performance including GPS. Ive tried using different ROM's and different radios but had no luck in finding a secure GPS lock. Recently i have been unable to even find even a single satellite using GPS test or GPS Status.
Before rooting and flashing new ROM's i used to get a fairly consistent GPS lock but even returning to the default HTC Sense ROM now does not return the GPS to working order. I also used to get a lock when i first flashed CM but since flashing various radios and ROM's ive been unable to get GPS working properly and I think this is partly to blame.
Ive done a fresh wipe and wiped dalvik cache but this has also not helped. Any suggestions or full methods on how to restore GPS would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
If you've tried every suggestion and tried the radio / Kernel recommended for your ROM by the ROM Creator then you may have to consider it being a hardware fault.
Sent using witchcraft via XDA Developers App.
Im hoping this isn't the case but perhaps you be may right. The only reason im hopeful of a software fix is that i have had sporadic cases of GPS working using different ROM's in the past and theres no sign of external or damage to the phone in any other way.
Would there be a way to test it if a hardware fault was the cause of the problems?
It won't be hardware issue I have the same problem, there is a file you can fladlsh that fixes it but I cannot find it
Im hoping thats the case, also does anyone have any experience with RIL's that work with CM7? im not sure if they may help with the problem as it does seem as if there could be a problem lying between the radio and the ROM.
Is this file you mentioned anything to do with RIL's or is it a GPS log file flash or something along those lines?
I'm sure it was a .lib file, from the android revolution or leedroid thread agggges ago ill have q.look if I can find it
ok thanks, im assuming this could work with CM7 aswell then?
Yeh its the only way I could get GPS working on cm7, now I can't find it I have no GPS lol so I need it aswell
Ha, well let me know if you manage to find it. Do you know why this happens on CM7 and why not many people seem to know about it?
I think its something to do with drivers, some.peoples chips are different and the normal drivers aren't fully implemented
think i found it, just about to give it a whirl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12208708&postcount=425
Ok then, so im guessing i just adb push the first file (gps.spade.so) and as im in Europe (UK) i flash the EU_GPS_HD.zip in recovery as a zip file?
yeh, just follow the instructions and it should work
Seems to have improved things, got 3 satellites in view but still no lock, il leave it to search for a while. Thanks
Try going into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache I got instant lock
Yep this seems to have worked, still abit inconsistent with the locks but i get about 5/6 satellites but not too accurate (60ft range). Can anyone recommend a Radio to work with CM 7.02 for GPS. Im on Orange UK if this alters things. Currently using 26.04.02.17_M2 but im sure there will be a more reliable one out there. Thanks.
Hey, hello to all readers!
I am pretty new in this thing of modding the telephone, but I think it is going pretty well.
Last night I installed CM7 nightly build and I am very happy so far. Only thing I really would like to fix are the following:
- I would like to have 720p recording again.
- Fix the issue with the compass (it keeps turning around crazy)
Another question I have is:
I've read in this and in other forums that installing that fixed-sbf could lead to a problem when rebooting, it stays in the red M and wont boot.
Since I was doing my stuff along with another user and saw that he couldn't fix that, I haven't applied the patch.
What would that do? It will update / fix something? is completely necessary to apply this?
Thanks a lot!

If you are using CWM 3.x, it's necessary to flash fixed-sbf. Because CWM 3.x is unable to flash kernel.
Solution for compass issue not found yet.
Sorry for this lame question, but how can I confirm which CMW I have?
I've rebooted the device several times and I have not had any issue and didn't install the fixed_sbf.
Hi Folks,
I've been lurking and getting great advice form this forum for many years but have finally come up with something I can't fix myself.
I was running a few custom roms but somehow when trying out a few of them I have managed to do something so that I can't flash any custom roms any more.
TWRP which gives an error 7 message (which seems to suggest that my phone no longer thinks it is a moto x play). At present I can install stock roms using ADB but that seems to be about it. I have tried to roll back using a stock rom from the motorola website (LUX_RETLA_DS_LPD23.118-6.1_cid12_lux_retla_ds) but that didn't fix it.
I also can't seem to root my current stock rom (XT1562_LUX_RETEU_6.0.1_MPD24.107-52) but am sure I was able to before i had this problem.
I can't help but think I probably should be grateful that whatever i did didn't brick my phone but I've been trying every idea I can find that over the last few months and nothing has helped. I get the idea it might be some kind of low level partition issue but that is just a desperate hunch. From time to time I've got what seem to be partition errors when try various roms to fix this but they've usually worked their way out.
Any hints or suggestions on how to rectify this would be most welcome.
