Sprite or SPB Backup? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Which is better for backup? Sprite or SPB Backup?
I have read a couple of bad things about Sprite but not SPB.

SPB Backup for sure! work flowlessly on my HD (and previous PDAs). Sprite still yields errors and warnings (in the past it could not handle several (rare) file types)

Do some searching first. Been discussed on numerous phones.
Also a lot of reviews are available.
Very subjective thread. Previous poster is shouting SPB Backup. I prefer Sprite Backup so you can't say which is best.
On top of that you can get a trial of all the backup programs to test them yourself.

I agree I own both and prefer sprite to spb.

Essential software before upgrading to Windows Mobile 2005?

This is my first post and I must say that I'm totally impressed with the works of the guys here at this forum.
A couple of questions come to mind though before making that plunge to join in on the Windows Mobile 2005 bandwagon...
1. What is the best software (if any) to use to make a full device backup (including games, contacts, etc)
2. Is there a program that does an image of any XDA device (kinda like Norton Ghost) so that reverts can be done easily?
3. If there is no way to backup the device 100%, is there a way to save game progress (like bejeweled) so that when I upgrade to WM2005 and do a fresh install of games my game progress will be just when I left it?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Ciao
I did some digging and eventually came to Sprite software's backup program.
After reading the reviews, it seems that this is the best program to have. Any of you guys tried this one yet? Any feedbacks?
Here's the company's URL: http://www.spritesoftware.com/en/index.htm
the best way to backup is to use activesync and then reinstall everything you need...
Otherwise you'll run into problems..

Thanks.
Quick question though, What about my game files (im playing bejeweled and am at level 138 - endless mode) will these also be backed up via Activesync?

Best Data Backup program

What is the best one out there for the wizard? Or any that are free would be great to.
Thanks in advance
no idea about best, or free for that matter!
but i'm using Sprite, its about £15 / €25 / $30 and worth every penny IMO - used to use the old one with ppc2003 all the time.

The best. Works Great in WM5. All that you need for backups...
I've been using SPB Backup for a couple of weeks based on friends' recommendations. Seems to work beautifully. Only takes a few minutes to back up the entire machine (I have a T-Mobile MDA -- HTC Wizard variant -- wiza200) running 2.17 custom ROM courtesy of xelencin.
Very convenient: I use it to back up EVERYTHING periodically, generally after each new app install. It creates exe's, and I have it saving them to my miniSD card. If my system gets messed up (within reason), I can simply run one of the exe's on the miniSD card, and it will restore the apps, settings, data, etc. in a few mins. Very convenient, works well.
Thanks everyone I'm using the Spb trail version now, I did use Sprite, for my MPx220 and I didn't really like how it handled the sms's I had. Hopefully this works out fine?

The achillies heel of Spb (unless they changed the functionality) is the ability to restore single files, folders, what-have-you when you are away from your PC. There are many times I have had to restore an accidently deleted or corrupted file and Sprite allowed me to do that away from my PC. From everything I have read thusfar about Spb you can selectively choose individual files and folders to backup but cannot restore them unless connected to your PC.
That feature and the ability to restore data after an ROM upgrade make Sprite the backup application of choice (IMHO).

Must have apps?

I'm new to the windows mobile world but I'm loving my 8525. After a few days of reading I successfully upgraded to vp3g WM6 rom.
Now I'm wondering what are some of the must have apps that I should install?
Must have APPS )for me at least( .. Wisbar Advanced, Pocketbreeze, Phonealarm, PocketRSS, Madden 2006, Call of Duty 2.. Weatherpanel, Virtual Pool.. um .. yeah thats pretty much all I need..
Great choice, I have the vp3g 2.0 on my 8525 as well.
Currently I'm running (must have):
New Kaiser HTC Home Plugin
IM+ (for aim and google talk)
Opera browser
Resco Explorer
SPB Backup
Other junk:
SBSH Weather (not sure if its my favorite or not)
Slide2Unlock (dont know why I installed it)
Tweaks:
shogun cingy threaded sms hack (threaded sms conversation like on treo)
I need all these:

Got a link? did a search with no results.
My favourites are - Opera Browser, SPB Insight, SPB Diary, SPB Mobile Shell, SPB Backup, 1-Calc, Monopoly, Scabble, Microsoft Reader, TomTom 6, Google Maps, PHM RegEdit and Snails. Hope this long list helps.
If you like adding software - the first thing above all else to get is a full backup application. I use SPB backup but there are others. It will save you from having a miserable time when you have to do a hard reset (which you will at some point!)
Mike
I have been through alot of programs, and the one I can seem to live without is SPB Phone Suite. I find with the last 3 roms I have tried from here, this seems to work on all of them. And that makes me very happy.
I lke SPB Mobile Shell too. 23 years of being a jet aircraft mechanic, my fingers aren't what they used to be.
For IM try Octro
Others are The Core Pocket Mobile Player, MobiBlgr, Pocket Mechanic, and Nine Hole Golf.
I am still working on mixing and matching, but these I use the most.
I did alot of searching around and have a good compilation of programs. I had a Toshiba E740 when I was stationed in Japan, and I still have a few cool things from that stuuf I would like to find new versions of for my 8525.

PIM SOftware and Today Plugins

OK All there are quite a few PIM managers with really cool today plugins ie., SPB, Pocket Informant, SBSH, and so on. Give me some opinions on what you all think are the best ones. I have been trying SPB but for instance Mobile shell is very heavy and a memory hog. Help me find a good one.
Thanks

Backup for Windows Mobile 6.5

I have an AT&T tilt 2 and I had an AT&T tilt prior to this. The tilt came with Sprite backup software for free that would take a backup and then let me install an app and if I did not like it restore from the backup and the application was completely uninstalled. This was great for testing out software.
Now the Tilt 2 did not come with the sprite software. I went out and paid for the Sprite software but when I tried to do a restore the application that I installed was still there.
Does anyone know of a good backup software that would act like the old sprite software did and reset all of the settings, more like a snapshot of the phone when you back it up? Free would be better.

If you are doing your backups to the SD card, then just hard reset, reinstall Sprite, and then restore.
