HTC Hero - Simlock - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi all,
first of all - sorry for my bad english - I'm from Austria...
I have only one question!
i could get a htc hero tmobile branded (t-mobile g2touch)
but i use orange
i think there was no simlock at htc magic (t-mobile g1)
does anybody know if there is a simlock on htc hero tmobile branded?
maybe someone could help me!
or is it hard to unlock it?
best regards from vienna,
freddy

yes, the orange and t-mobile heros are locked to those networks.
there is a thread somewhere here about unlocking, and i think a few people have alredy done that through unlock-now.com ( I think).
have a search for 'unlock' in all the hero forums as i cant remember what the thread is called exactly....

hi,
thank you for your quick answer
i think your posted site is a good alternative.
but there are 2 htc heroes to select
first: SIM Unlock T-Mobile G1 Touch (HTC Hero)
second: SIM Unlock HTC Hero (HTC Hero)
i think i have to choose the first one..
but in austria the name of the pohne is T-Mobile G2 Touch.. do you think it will work correctly?
regards

dunno about austria, but in the uk tmobile lock their phones.
if i could afford it, id get the htc branded one!

hi,
i use unlock now and they are quite good. i you have any problem just send ticket through their system.

HTC Niki Original Roms & Debranding

Hey guys i need some help,
I'm looking for the latest original roms for my HTC Niki P500 (Touch Dual) on the UK Orange network.
Does anyone know where i can get the latest original debranded roms.
Also where can i get an unlocking code for the HTC Niki.
thanks in advance
Hi there, I used OliPro's Nike Unlocker (which I googled) to unlock my HTC Touch Dual on Orange UK. It cost £5.40 but is well worth it IMO. I now have an O2 sim card in it.
What network do you want to use on the phone? You'll have to let me know how the signal is when using a SIM from a new network.
How did unlocking it go?
Unfortunalty i didn't get it unlocked, but i'm still trying to find official Roms for the device to either debrand or upgrade to WinMo 6.1.
Tried contacting HTC and got no information what so ever and Orange customer services guided me through the process of finding the relevent Orange webpage but the Handset isn't listed.
so i'm back to square one!!
thanx anyway
Hi there Robbiejuk08
I am new to this forum and have never seen a forum like this before for people asking questions and not getting any reply. Anyway as far as I know you need to get phone unlocked first. Then you will need a serial number from a generic htc. In other words one that has came from htc and not orange or any other operators. Then you go to the htc site and you will be able to upgrade phone with the generic serial number. But as I have found out it is impossiable to get generic serial number in the forums as people just are not prepared to give you their serial number.
Hahaha, I pushed the thank you button for you,
First of all, welcome,
It's great that you are willing to help people, that is the spirit, but unfortunaly this post was more then two years old
But you did it with the right intention so thumbs up.
Have fun,

Orange ROMs lock more than the basic phone functions. I unlocked my Tytn II's SIM (Orange France) and I can now make and receive calls with another provider's SIM card. Several orther functions, however, remain lock because descending lists offer only Orange as a choice. I suppose one has to get rid of the Orange ROM and use either the official HTC one or one of the bette cooked ROM.

You have to get the code..aka buy it from htccode.com

Maybe not what you were after zetex but I flashed the 1.48 ROM over my T Mobile HD2 via the goldcard method.
Result unbranded/unlocked HD2 with all the HTC apps reinstated that T Mobile decided to remove i.e you tube, jetcet printer, co pilot trial
hi
updated just had the second one come back to me with a refund
http://leo.unlock-now.com/sim-unlock-HTC-HD2/

your could be my saving star..... i will have a look into that
i didnt realise by updating the rom using the goldcard method actually unlocked the phone as welll...
is this true, i dont mind flashing it at all... just want it to work on o2
thanks alot
Z
Your best option would seem is to upgrade your ROM to unbranded 1.48 via goldcard?
That's what I have done from O2 ROM. I'm sure it would work for T Mobile.
I just changed my sim and it doesnt unlock my phone it is still tied to O2 sorry
hi,
i may sound stupid, but are you sure that t-mob uk devices has a netlocked?. i only ask because german t-mob devices arent netlocked at all. the only (stupid) thing t-(in)mobile germany does, was to lock the internet connection. so you can dialin only via them, but that could be fixed by simply using the goldcard method to update to a nice brandingfree rom.
regards mad
hi
so by flashing it using an unbranded rom with a goldcard does not unlock it??
really sorry im all new to this??
thanks alot
Z
hi,
maybe we are talking about different things. but for me unlocking means removing the sim/netlock. so that after unlocking, i can use any sim from any provider i like, to make phonecalls etc..
what happens if you put a simcard from a different provider to your hd2? can you use your phone to call someone? if so your phone is not sim/netlocked anyhow.
mad
Hi, I was wondering the same a Madbird, as I bought a Tmobile HD2 a couple of weeks ago, and was very pleased when i realised it didnt have a tmobile badge on, and when i tried my Virgin sim it worked fine. Maybe I just struck lucky!
Use www.your-unlock.com It's what I used for mine and it worked no trouble, just put your other sim in and turn it on and it will ask you for an unlock code, enter the one that site e-mails you.

just got an email from this company and they have failed to get me unlock code....
not looking very good at the moment.... looks good in the box though...

This works for T-Mobile UK
Try unlockdata.co.uk. They generated a code which I was able to enter into my HD2 to allow all networks..

Hey, I got a T-Mobile UK HD2 also. I have also just submitted my code to Your-Unlock.com. Well after seeing your post I would not expect much. Anyway I did a search and found this guy on E-Bay. Thinking of giving him a try. Has some good reviews also. Check it out let me know what you think. This is what the add says "Unlock HTC HD2 Leo T-Mobile O2 3 UK Code = FAST"
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Unlock-HTC-HD...QptZUK_Phones_Software_RL?hash=item1c0e880071
just been to the shops to try unlock but they said none would be available until next 2 weeks.
Anyone with better luck
id be interested to hear from anyomne also as am about to recieve my hd2 from t-mobile on monday - any successful unlock codes, or any successful flashing of the rom to get the hd2 sim unlocked? im assuming i will recieve the phone locked to t-mobile but will update in case it arrives unlocked.
Well I have not found a solution as yet. Tried a guy on ebay but seems he's unable to unlock also. Anyone has any luck unlocking the t-mobile uk hd2 online?

questions about HD2 limitations and locks

Hi
I'm wanting to buy an HTC HD2 this week but a seller told me that most of the HD2 are all locked. Not only SIM locked but that people can't install the programs they want (such as tom tom) and that they are forced to use the programs that the operator provides (in my case, i'm talking about french operators, such as orange or SFR).
Is that true that the HD2 by default is locked and that you can't install all you want on it ?
Can the phone be easilly unlocked from that ?
The shop told me that SFR is selling now an "origin" version all unlocked (even sim unlocked) and that it's a bit more expensive but worths it.
Do you have an opinion on that ? Did he tell me bull**** ?
Thanks a lot,
Regards
Elise
Look, here is Touch2 forum, not HD2 but i will say two words for you - yes, most of the phones a SIM locked and ROM (software) locked. If you buy from operator its 100 sure. You can put programs on the phone, the software is locked not to change phone software.
But in HD2 forum there is a procedure called HSPL, which can unlock your soft nd you can do whatever you want with the phone.
ooups sorry, i may have used the wrong place. Thanks for your answer anyway, that's just what i wanted to know.
well, actually...no, it is not locked by default.
it depends on where you live and where you but it.
in Belgium all HD2 are unlocked by default.
but indeed: wrong forum
In most cases they are locked by operators, i asked HTC about that and they said that after they give an HTC phone to mobile operator, this operator gets the rights on the phone
