This is mainly intended for all users on the Orange branded HTC S740 but should work for everyone else too. I found an applcation unlock method on the forum which has allowed me to install .CAB files without my Orange software stopping the install due to "Insufficient Sercurity Privilages"
I would post the source, but firefox, in all its 3.x glory crashed on me
Also if anyone can point me to whoever posted this origionally i will link to the origional post aswell.
i't works great on my S740 from Orange UK.
Great work

Does anyone have this working yet?
Currently no WM5 BB clients are available to the public yet. My gut feeling is not before january 2006.
there were BBConnect clients for the late Himalaya ROM's (O2 issued them). Doesnt those work?
No, WM2003SE BB clients do not install on WM5 devices, they will detect the wrong Operating System and refuse to install.
Just to clarify the BB Client attempts to install on WM2005, the problem is that the BB software changes critical OS level files, and because the software is not signed its the operating systems that rejects the installation....otherwise it would install.
Did you try shutting off the digital signature check on your Wizard?
Details on how to do that are on my blog, October archives.
Yes, and I have a hunch that it is actually the script that rejects after an OS check. The error message is: unable to install. Uncertified system software detected (which indicates that WM5 is not accepted as target OS)
This is caused by the install script in the BBclient package rather than the Wizard's OS. This was reported before on non-O2 devices.
There was a trick to bypass that however. It should be somewhere in the xda-developer Himalaya threads. the BBConnect clinet was delivered in ROM version 1.92, issues by O2.
I have the BBConnect cab that was integrated in the latest T-Mobile MDA Compact ROm, if anyone sees any use for it. I have not tried it, on my Vario, since i figured it would not work. But if anyone needs it, just post here.
Hey Guys,
It has been a while for this thread. Was just wondering if anyone had heard anything new or perhaps a timeline for BBConnect on WM 5.
Cheers
Bumparoo... Anyone seen a client that'll install on the Wizard?
blackberry is out, we stopped sell blackberry subscriptions a few days ago / workin at vodafone
Just Wondered
Just bumping this one as now that RIM's settled down I was wondering if anyone has heard of any news on BB connect for WM5
Re: Just Wondered
Yes, any news? It'll be wonderful if there is one now!!

T-Mobile Germany released a BB Client Software!
I am not sure if they are offering it somewhere else or if this can be used with every wizard.
I did not install it ( no need for it ) so I cannot tell you if its only German or Multilanguage
You may download it right here:
https://after-sales-service.t-mobile.de/eg_online/t-mobile/t_mda_vario.htm
Installs in English!
I don't suppose anyone has a copy of the instructions in English? Would hate to work my way through the pdf for days and find someone has one handy....

Odd. I'm running it on a xda mini s with the qtek rom, installed like a dream and in English.
Can someone please post this file here as I cannot seem to download it from the t-mobile.de site.
thanks
Good morning Everyone,
I was looking into information on updating my Cell phone ROM as after some reading and searching I found out that this phone is GPS capable (Why they would sell it with the functionality disabled is beyond me.) On the Official HTC website I did find a new update that was released 08/06/2008 at the following link. CLICKY! . I am wounder if anyone else is having a problem downloading this file and installing it? I receive an error saying the file is corrupt and I should download the file again. I have tried downloading the file from two separate computers, tried all three mirror sites (US, Europe, Asia) and last but not least tried using three different web browsers. Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari for Windows.
I am curious if anyone knows of another mirror site for this newly released update that is working? Or of another way I can update to the same version. I am unfamiliar with the ROMs that are on this website (I could figure it out but am uneasy about installing something unofficial.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I also noticed that the file name "-HTC P4000 (Telus)-Telus_HTC_P4000_WM6_07252007.exe" Has an old date on it? I am hoping they just rebuilt a previous update, or they have not actually posted the new update and still have an old one which happens to not work. Just an observation I noticed.
PSS: I have sent in a technical help request through the online process of HTC asking for a link to a working .exe but I tend to find that out of the norm requests such as this do not turn out very well with corporations whose support team are really only knowledgeable in standard help desk things IE: I'm too stupid to turn on my phone can you help me?
Did you follow the instructions here?
http://www.telusmobility.com/on/business_solutions/htc_p4000_upgrade_xp.shtml
I did a while back and it worked. If not, just switch to DCD's, it's awesome. Telus's 6.1 ROM doesn't enable your GPS.
Ya that is currently the ROM I am running, Maybe I am just mixed up. I looked at the HTC website for the TELUS rom and noticed the date for release was 08/06/2008 so I was under the assumption they had released an updated ROM that was a newer version then 2.13.661.2 which I am already running. One that would also patch the GPS (just a guess). However, I guess I will look into the DCD roms and see if I can fumble through the guides to get it loaded. Thanks anyways.
telus p4000 rom
I have a P4000 running on DCD 3.2.2 and Radio 3.42.2 gps enabled internet sharing enabled and many other stuff... this is just roocking the place.. Just forgot the official Rom and go for dcd you just have to follow all instructions be aware and youll anjoye all youre gona do with your phone
HTC P4000 rocks again!
Being half way through custom install (with all nightmares and mistakes ) I found this official update too. Confirm too: everything works as expected.
Took a while for GPS to pick up in Richmond Hill, Ontario, but the it worked like a charm!

2nd that. Upgraded from the old v2 and now to this one GPS and everything worked great with Google Maps.. I didn't bother stopping that customization thing like I've read in other post. Loaded that HTC home Plugin v2.1 on it and its fine.
Hi,
Anyone have this tool from HTC, HTC Touch Diamond - Sprite Backup Tool.
Its on the UK site but i have orange diamond so unable to download.
If anyone has it can you upload it so others can use it.
Many many thanks
its over 400 mb, so, you will have to find a way to download it yourself from HTC support website
as far as i know, everything you need is serial number of the phone
if someone could download it
and make a torrent...that would be nice
Here is a version directly from the (german) o2 Homepage:
Don't know if it only contains the german language, but you might want to give it a try
http://www.o2online.de/nw/assets/blobs/software/xdadiamond-sprite-backup-update.exe
Link to the page itself:

Greetings...
I also have HTC diamond from 02, Germany. But I flashed my language to English. Now 02 is giving updates which also includes the battery.
Does anybody have the similar situation like me and tried this 'sprite'. if so kindly let me know.
Thank you!

Not quite true, due to the fact that certain operator locked phones (and their serials) can't download Sprite tool from HTC, but are directed to their operator...
I am in a similar situation, as can be read from here
If the XDA WWE file could be made available I would be extremely grateful! And that is 'only' a few megabytes *cheers*

Didn't work for me since the installation requires the branded ROM version (guessing the O2 version) -> installation aborted for me.

Try this, its the commercial sprite version $29.99 though there is a free trial period...
HTC if you read these posts, Get your act together, your stuff just gets cracked and hijacked anyway. Find a new business model that allows us to use your stuff....
Sprite Support are Helpful
I had some problems when I got my Fuze. I already owned Sprite and got the free version that came with the phone mixed up with it. They were very helpful and sent me the correct CAB just to make sure I was installing the right one.
I have no complaints about them or their product.
... but I can't download it. After I enter my serial number, it says the software is not fit for my device. I highly doubt that, since it's a regular Dutch HD2 and I could download the previous update (1.66) just fine.
Could it be that they don't have the ROM file fully online yet?
I guess I'll try again later. If anyone has more success, please let me know.

I found out about it through the RSS feed for Dutch HD2 upgrades, but I just noticed it hasn't even shown up in their support news section yet. I guess I'll just have to wait.
It's a new Rom for Vodafone users, not for us default users
heheh, branded roms are not that fast as it should be

Thanks.
I just saw another post here that referred to it as the 'Vodafone 1.72 ROM' but I always figured HTC wouldn't put it on their own website then.
I guess they do.
I experienced the same, I don't understand why they never post a decent description with their updates. That would probably relieve their own help desk too!
Thanks for the info.
To all (dutch) users, flash a new rom the moment you unbox your HD2 tbh, the default ones cant even send sms
I disagree: it works fine

That is with rom 1.43. not with rom 1.66.
this new rom and the new fixes have been removed from the HTC site
I can't download the new rom either, though I have vodafone.
strange
Hello, sorry if I sound nieve with any of this. I am new to flashing etc...
Basically I have an O2 branded HTC HD Mini and would like to know the easiest way of upgrading the ROM, to the current one recentely released from HTC. The HTC help team have basically told me that O2 don't own any rights for HTC updates so none of their updates will work on an O2 branded phone!
Please help.
Thankyou, Trev
In a nutshell, unfortunately you can't do it easily.
You can use SoftSPL to allow you to install a downloaded ROM but it wont update the radio ROM or you could use the Gold Card method, but currently there is a minimum purchase of $30 for Gold Cards.
Your first step is to download a ROM from Conflipper's site then decide how you want to proceed. Or download Tom Codon's excellent cooked ROM!
Unbranding HD Mini
Hi dude. I just flashed my Dads Vodaphone branded HD Mini to the latest HTC ROM. I followed the guide ''[SSPL][DFT] HowTo flash custom OS'' in the ROM Development section.
After that the phone was unbranded. The only problem was that I wasn't recieving a signal. After looking at the Radio version I found that it wasn't showing a version so I assume the Radio wasn't installed.
I fixed this by using the SSPL (the program that you used to flash the official ROM with) to flash HTC's updated version. What you need to do is download the Update for HTC HD mini intermittent audio muting and extract the .exe (using winRAR) to find the Radio_32.2806.05.06_0.63.05.40.nbh. Put this into the same folder with the SSPL and rename it to PHOTIMG.nbh. Once done you can flash it to your device.
This worked fine for me. Call quality is perfect. This removed all Vodaphone's branding and gave me back Copilot and the added extra's that HTC put in. I'll be writing a full guide on how to do this later on.
Trying to flash my HTC HD Mini (O2) to RUU_Photon_HTC_Europe_1.36.401.1_Radio_Signed_32.2 803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship.exe
(Currently got RUU_Photon_O2_UK_1.10.206.1_Radio_Signed_32.28.05. 05_0.63.05.18_Ship.exe installed)
But just keep getting error 'invalid vendor ID'
What to do????? can I change vendor ID ??
Having read about Goldcard, I'm guessing that this is what I need to do. Have looked at PSAS and would need to pay 30eur - is there a cheaper way? What about these unlock services that will send you an unlock code based on your IMEI number, would this change vendor ID to ubranded (normally about £12)???
Look in the ROM Development section on this forum and you'll find a guide on how to unbrand the HD Mini. Follow this guide and hopefully it'll work for you.

Nothing works for my O2 one. I think O2 have started doing something odd?
I've noticed that people seem to find it easy with Vodafone, but numerous problems with O2. There doesnt see mto be a definitive guide for unlocking O2 ones specifically - is Goldcard the only option at 30euro? Does anyone offer a Goldcard type serice for cheaper?
