Does anyone know of a way to switch between 2g and 3g preferably with a program like tasker in order to save battery. I know I could manually go under settings/wireless and network/mobile networks and check or uncheck the use 2g only was looking at least for an easier way like a widget or in a perfect works a way to do this via application. Aka run gps or browser and go to 3g and go back to edge when not in the speed critical apps.
I have also posted in the tasker forum in hopes this can be implemented.
That's a really good idea. I hope someone finds a solution.
The power widget on cm6 offers this. I imagine it would be easy to push.
unfortunatley there is no widget or program that can do that for you because of the way Android works. I use a widget called 2g-3g OnOff which is a shortcut that gets you to the 2g-3g screen. It skips a couple of steps but thats the best out right now.
Excuse me about my ignorance... its been one hour im going through the menus and it started to pissing me off....
i somehow disabled the phone icon on the ADW launcher. Anyone can tell me how to enable it again?
dialer icon more correctly
You should be able to drag and drop the icon to the dock.

not sure wat ur talkin about but i think if u hold down on ur desktop... pick activity...create custom shortcut... click activities... scroll down to dialer. let me know if ur talkin about something else.
Thanks for your replies.
See Screenshot below to see for which icon im talking.
so are u saying its missing from that certain spot? or just missing in general? or missing from the app drawer?
Missing from the certain spot.
It was there yesterday, i was playing with the menus/options and i probably disabled it by mistake probably.
Thanks for the help. Plenty of key words in your replies to sort it out.
Just reseted ADW and its fixed.
Dont know if theres an option to enable or disable it but reseting fixed it.
Hi, there's an option to turn the left and right softkey on and off in the ADW setting.
I can't create screenshots but try to explain it briefly here (it's simple) although you have reset it, it may benefit others who come across the same problem.
so in ADW settings..
> Interface Settings
there's a Turn On/Off Left Action Button option.
check it to have the phone icon on, uncheck to take it away.
Effectively you can disable to right action button (web browser) as well.
You can also turn on two more extra button as well, but haven't had time to figure out how to set the shortcuts... only have 2 blank keys theres at the mo.
Sorry for, if there're, any inaccurate labelling as I have mine in T.Chinese so not sure what the exact English labels are... shoudn't be far off though.
Hope it helps~
Hey, is me again!
Was just having a quick mess around and found out is as easy as just drag the icon to those empty button areas, that's all !! And i was trying long presses and going through many pages of menu options!! ha-ha

Ahhh now i see it.... Its called LAB and RAB. Sometimes going through it fast its not very efficient.
Thank you!
You get the old Market first time you launch it.
The orange flares at scroll limits are nice.
The "screen off" animation is awesome.
The download manager in the browser is nice.
You can now natively play .wav files in Gmail!!!!!!
Text selection is better.
If any of your notifications are set to black text, they will be invisible. (I'm looking at you Weatherbug)
The dialer is just too black. You can't see the edges of the buttons, or lack of buttons I guess.
Everything just seems more squared off and cleaner, like dialog boxes and such.
I use Swiftkey, so can't comment on the new Android Keyboard.
Sometimes the WiFi and signal strength indicators go grey instead of their usual green.
Overall UI seems snappier. I use Launcher Pro.
Weird scrolling issues in Tweetdeck seem to be gone for now.
Curious to find out if battery life will improve with GRI40.
I'm liking everything so far, everything's very fast and responsive

Maybe benchmarks aren't optimized for Gingerbread?

I think that the gray'ed out wifi and BT just means that they're enabled, but there's no active connection at the moment.
Anyone else using launcherpro notice that the drawer open animation without a live wallpaper or 3D drawer isn't buttery smooth anymore?
Also the browser stutters a lot when moving around XDA for me..everything else so far is good though

Nope... all it means is what others have said... you're not connected to Google's servers. You can still surf the web or use non-Google apps, but try opening Gtalk for example.
Many of us have been running GB for weeks now... this isn't new to us.
Well.. everything is smooth... BUT the phone restarted once....I was closing Skype.. suddenly...BOOOM hard restart...

One thing that I particularly find to be very faster is the installation of new/updated apps. I was used to 10~20 seconds of "installing" notification, now it barely lasts for 1 whole second! WOOT!!!

I don't have a problem per se, but now when I dial it won't make the keyboard sounds anymore (even though the keyboard sound flag is set, under 'Settings' -> 'Sound').
Edited:
WTF?!?! Telephone keys sounds are classified as "Media" sound?!?! My media sound was 0, even though other sounds are max, and that's why I couldn't hear it.
Are all of you guys here running the latest version of the market?
I'm not, even posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968672 so I'm a bit concerned.
Updated successfully no problem. Switchpro widget couldn't toggle BT, GPS, and flashlight. Amazon MP3 app is still there...
Anyone else notice that the track ball light doesn't work and the orange flashes in the app drawer only show up when using launcher pro.
Big fan of the new keyboard. Have been using swiftkey, but switched on a lark and it is great.
Everything else is like froyo but better.
All my notifications were messed up though, 3 minute fix for that though.
Yeah my track ball doesn't light up anymore either. Guessing there will be an update for this soon.
The back button has problem (sometimes ..). I press the Back, I can feel the vibration, but there is no action. Retry one or 2 times OK.
This happens occasionally, and not limited to particular apps, even when Back from the app drawer.
Hi I just got a Nexus 6p and its been great but I have low vision and if I keep the option turned on the phone, it becomes very laggy so I would like to only use it when I need to.
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you .
This isn't exactly what you wanted, but it's kind of close...
I use ADW as my launcher, which allows me to set custom shortcuts on my home screen. Other launchers might offer the same functionality.
I long pressed on my home screen and selected the Add tab on the popup. I then tapped Custom Shortcut, and tapped "Pick your activity." Next, I tapped Activities, scrolled down to Settings and expanded the list. It's rather long, but in that list there is one called "Accessibility(.Settings$AccessibilitySettingsActivity)". I selected that one, gave it a name (what it displays under the icon), and pressed OK. This created a settings gear icon on my home screen that when tapped goes straight to the accessibility options in the settings menu, and then you can tap the toggle for Magnification.
Alternatively, you should be able to do the same thing with Tasker if you have it installed and it's a bit easier. Make a new Task, give it a title (anything) and press the plus to add a step. Select Settings, then Accessibility settings (first option). There is some "if" options, but you can just tap your back button to go back to the step list. Create a widget for Tasker (1x1 task) and select the name of the task you just created. You then need to select an icon for the "widget" by tapping the icon in the lower right that looks like 9 squares in a grid. There are a bunch of built in icons you can choose from, or use your own. The result will be an icon on your desktop that goes to the accessibility options screen, allowing you to quickly toggle the magnification gesture.
Again, sorry this isn't exactly what you asked for, but it would save some taps. Luckily the mag gesture toggle is high enough in the list of options that it should always be on the screen when you open the accessibility settings, so you won't need to scroll.
Lastly, if you are rooted, you could use Tasker to also hit the toggle for you. If you want instructions for that, please do let me know and I'd be happy to share how to do that. It would allow you to tap the "widget" and it would then launch the accessibility settings, wait a second and then tap the toggle, and go back to the home screen. That way you wouldn't need to toggle it yourself.

Thanks a lot!
So it sounds like theres no way to make a widget the will toggle it specifically, without rooting my device.
And if I do root it and use Tasker it will take almost the same time as if I didn't.
If thats no other way then I guess I should root it even though Id prefer not too.
Unless theres another way, Instructions would be great! Thanks again!
Are you familiar with Tasker? It's a paid app, but it's absolutely worth it and you'll find lots of uses for it. I use it to auto reply to text messages while I'm driving, mute my phone when I'm at work (calendar based) turn on wifi when I'm at home (location based), etc.
First thing you need to do is find the location of the toggle on the screen. Go to Developer Settings and turn on "Show Pointer Location". This will make a gray bar at the top of your screen that lists your X and Y coordinates at the top when you are touching the screen. Go to the accessibility settings and touch the toggle, taking note of what the X and Y coordinates are for that touch input.
To simulate touch input, can make a task that opens the accessibility settings as I described above, then add a "wait" command (Task > Wait), enter a value of 1 second. Next enter a command for Code and select Run Shell. Under the command, type "input tap x y" where x and y are the x and y coordinates that you found for the toggle. Make sure the "use root" box is checked. Lastly, add a Tasker command to go to the home screen (back to where you started with the "widget").
Back all the way out of Tasker to save that task, then go back in and press the play button at the bottom left side to test your setup. You should see it launch the accessibility settings, wait a second, toggle, and go home. The first time you run it you will need to grant Tasker root permissions, so be ready for that. If you're not quick to approve it, the task may proceed and go to your home screen before you press approve, so you might need to run it again a second time after you approve it.
If you need more help with, or have any questions, please do let me know. Happy to help.

Sorry for the delay. I am not aware of any widgets. I couldn't find a widget on the Play Store or light Google searching.
Regarding the adapter, the 6p should have come with a short USB A to USB C cable specifically for connecting to a PC.

Have you used the built in magnification gesture? You turn it on in accessibility settings, then when you need something to be bigger, just tap the screen 3 times rapidly. You can use pinch to zoom to adjust the text size. When you're finished with it, tap the screen 3 times again. I use it when an app's text is just too small.

Haha Yes I have tried it you have to tap your finger 3 times to magnify which means every time you tap something once it waits to see if you will tap more times and cause slight lag.

Lol I was so excited for my new phone I never checked but I found it !
Thanks I will root it when I get the chance.
i have the same exact problem,i absolutely love the feature as i wouldn't be able to use any phone with out it but it also gets frustrating sometimes (the touch delay) for example in the dialer app or Instagram.
a toggle in the notification panel would be great or an app through which you specifically enable/disable the gestures for each individual app.
any other alternative would be appreciated, somebody posted the same issue here with a possible fix (which i am not exactly sure how to implement) https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39685

Nice to know I'm not the only one.
Sorry for the late reply been busy with school. It would be nice to have this option maybe like a button shortcut .
Hey guys so that way of using tasker is very slow and not feasible.
Is there any other way of making a quick toggle magnification gestures. It would be nice if I could hold the menu button to enable it. (IPhone tripple tap home button to toggle)
Thanks again.
I have low vision as well and have also found that leaving the magnification gesture turned on causes the phone to be laggy even when I don't actually have the magnification turned on. Instead of using that, I rooted my phone, changed the global DPI and I use App Settings (an Xposed module) to increase the font size in some apps or force the standard DPI in apps that have issues with the custom one.
There's a gestural workaround I've employed: if instead of just putting down my finger I drag my finger slightly (in any direction) then the lag almost disappears. Doing this helps a lot but obviously its a bit of an awkward gesture.

Is there a way to have the date/time (and maybe battery %) on the 2nd screen when the screen is *on* ? I can only see if as an option when it's off.
I also tried the music controls, but while it shows Spotify the controls don't work for me.
And dangit, I still can't put a Phone shortcut (not an app shortcut) on the favorites (a Folder Organizer shortcut in my case pointing to a folder of apps).

While the display is on, time, date, and battery percent is kinda useless on the second screen. I don't see the options. While the main display is off, its a good idea, and that's why LG made it available.
Spotify works great for me with the main screen off and on.
You cannot move the info to the second screen unless you're viewing something like media or playing some games. To put a shortcut up on the second screen you'll need to leave one shortcut blank, and then create a shortcut of your choice to the home screen and drag it up to the second screen and drop it. You cannot put entire folders on the second screen though.

I have a few apps that run in full screen (like Kindle*) where I'd like to be able to put up the date/time. Not sure why LG *wouldn't* give us the option to have it there if we wanted it. I mean, to me, the signature thing is just silly, but I realize that some people may like it.
Will try a reboot shortly to see if Spotify kicks in.
I know I'm only 1/2 a day into the phone, but so far the 2nd screen isn't doing what I imagined it would. I'l also pretty disappointed in how notifications work on it. Would like to have the entire bar be the notification w/summary & just stay there until I dismiss it.
Likewise, when the phone is off and I get a notification, I just see an icon. There a way to get a summary or something without turning the phone on, or should I go back to Dynamic Notifications (the app) ?
While not the only factor, the 2nd screen was the main reason I picked the LG over the Pixel XL.
*Kindle - I haven't checked in a while to see if there is a way to disable full screen. Need to check settings for it.

I agree. I would rather take the date and time than the signature.
LG should set a limit with the 2nd screen display. My 2nd display gives me a short summary of my notification with screen on or off for a second or two.
Your spotify issue isn't related to the phone its the latest version that has a crapload of bugs I suggest downgrading to 6.2 to fix it. It isn't the phone, try pandora or google music and you'll find they work fine.
Follow these steps to downgrade:
- uninstall Spotify
- make sure auto update in playstore is disabled or it'll automatically update you back to 6.3
- enable the ability to install apps outside of the playstore (I suggest disabling this setting once you've installed 6.2)
- go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/spotify-ltd/spotify/spotify-6-2-0-1028-release/
- download the apk for ARM architecture and install it

Wow, don't think I would have discovered this trick myself, THANK YOU - this one was VERY important to me !!!
(You can get an entire folder if you cheat - I use Folder Organizer & make a shortcut to a "Home" group that I put a Shortcut to using your method. This home group has 20 shortcuts, including 5 "sub-folders" and 15 favorite apps. Subfolders are Tools, Internet, Multimedia, Games & Apps. Some of those folders have sub-folders as well. Then you can use this same "Home" shortcut in other places as well.)

Yeah,that's what I'm trying to figure out,perhaps it's model-specific?
One wouldn't think so,but,ya never know.
The only other thing I can think of is he's got an app installed that enables this,if it's not a hidden menu item.
I'm gonna look around in there, see if anything jumps out,I'll post again if I find something..................
@Tidbits
I figured out what's going on:
If you make your "signature" long enough,it will scroll as shown in the video, but,it only makes one revolution & stops.
At least the functionality seems to exist for an endless screen roll, perhaps someone with the capability will develop an app to expand on this.
Has anybody tried playing games like Traffic rider and notice that the 2nd screen doesnt work? I mean if i tap on it, it just shows the time any notification icon. No quick settings or previous app option?
