Back to normal. - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I am in the situation that I want to go back to the original Magic ROM. Where can I find it and how will I back to the original and not rooted ROM?
Any One?

Am told that it is not easy to get it rooted, but I will at least just like the original ROM

I'd like to do the same! I rooted my phone with Haykuro's Magic rootme ROM and all has been well for weeks but now I'm receiving an OTA and it just keeps downloading without installing. I know I should have done a nandroid backup but I didn't and now I can't go back unless anyone can post a link to a stock HTC Magic ROM image (uk vodafone would be ideal but any HTC or Google standard image should be OK). Has anyone done a nandroid backup of a clean phone and willing to share it? Thanks in advance.

I found what I need here:

I've not tested it myself yet.

Revert back to original state

So I'm almost ready to jump ship and upgrade the original rom on my Bell PPC 6800. The question I have, is can I revert this back to the default state if needed. Original Rom/ Boot Loader / Radio / whatever else? Can I make a backup of these from my device prior to flashing?
Thanks

Gotta read brother, nothing comes easy. Check the upgrading thread instead of this one.
Search XDA with Google: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all
Backup is not going to work the way you think, you need to find the virgin rom and radio instead of imaging or something else you may be thinking.

[Q] Question About Unrooting....

Hey guys,
I have a few questions about unrooting my HTC Legend, just in case. So I went to the thread "Easiest way to unroot HTC Legend" and it was a straight forward guide. I just have a few questions. The guide gives you a link to 1.03 software version, and 2.03 software version to unroot to, and all you have to do is reboot your phone while holding down the DOWN volume button. If I were to unroot (Just in case for emergencies) I would choose to roll back to 2.03 software. I'm on software 3.15 and was just wondering if this will roll back successfully to the stock ROM for 2.03? Will my stock ROM after unrooting be Android 2.1? Will my phone's radio version change? That I don't want at all. Just wondering because if for emergencies I need to unroot my phone then I need a stock ROM and software number that are out here in Canada, currently my phone has Froyo which isn't out for us yet. I wish I could put up a link but I can't, I was told before I'm not allowed to. But what I explained about the guide is everything you need to know just in case you don't. Thanks for the help guys.
I'm not sure about the firmware given in the guide, but those RUU files usualy contain radio too..It can be extracted from it, but I think that radio from froyo might not work with eclair rom you'd roll to...But as this is just in case, I think you have plenty of time to find out

Actually the Froyo Rom I got didn't have another radio file in there, it kept the one I had with Eclair, so I'm sure it'll work. But what is a radio file do? I actually forgot to ask that, I always knew that it's needed but I actually don't like it when it gets changed, just because I was told if I flash the wrong radio, my phone will have problems. What happens when you change a radio file?
Anyway, there are versions of radios that do not work with certain ROMs and vice versa...
Radio image is an intermediate between android system and a GSM/CDMA/3G (phone) hardware...it is referred to as a RIL (Radio Interface Layer) it sort of acts like BIOS on PC, just between certain hardware and in your phone's software...
And yes, if you flash a wrong radio, you legend can act up like not being able to make a call or establish data connecttion, no wifi etc...
As Canada doesn't run GSM as far as I know, I'd be very carefull about radio firmware.(most radios here are WWE or Vodafone UK based and I'm not usre if it'll work out there )
You can check the zip files you update if they have radio update in them - easiest way is to remove the radio.img and re-sign them...
I actually used an RUU to root my phone that was WWE, with "Theunlockr.com" and it was used to downgrade. So I think WWE would work. If I use a Nandroid backup and something goes wrong such as wrong radio version, and restore the Nandroid backup, will everything go back to normal? If that's the case then there's not much problem in taking a risk. How do you know if the radio version if right for the mobile carrier though? I'm guessing that's the hard part of updating software? :/

Phone developing problems - now that it's rooted, can I restore a stock rom for wrnty

I Have a Telus HTC hero, after a few months I Threw Cynogen on and tried a few roms, which most certainly bring my hero to life.
Lately there have been problems receiving calls, the phone will not realize it is being called and the caller is directed to my voicemail.
I tried upgrading the radio and a few of the latest radios, switching ROMS and nothing seems to be doing the trick, I can't bring it to Telus because it's been rooted.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I could make the phone look like it was origionally?
I did the one touch root back in the day, and backed up the SD card contents (it was after this that I found out about nandroid )
Also if anyone has a Telus rom apk for 1.5 or 2.1 I would be forever indebted to you if I could get a copy..
THanks
Just google for an official telus hero ruu exe file.

If you are happy to loose root just check htc website and flash the original from there or google for a zipped original in
I believe this is for the Gsm Hero .. please make sure before you procedd

Newbie has Q's about rooting and more

I have a HTC Desire HD on UK Vodafone bought from Phones4U so am assuming its unlocked.
I want to use HTC sense 3.0 Rom but dont know what i need to do to the phone to install it.
I read on here and on Youtube about rooting. Is rooting a way of hacking the phone so that other Roms can be installed ?
Also do i need to do anything else before i do rooting ?
The phone is running HTC Sense 2.1 Andriod 2.3.3, i heard that i need to downgrade that to Froyo in order to root the phone. Is that Correct ? Gingerbread runs better then Froyo ?
If i do all the rooting/install new rom will i have to back up all apps/pics/music/contacts etc ? When i updated from Froyo to Gingerbread i didnt lose any of that.
If i decide to sell the phone at a later date i can do a restore so that its sold as stock software ?
I'm just off to bed and saw your message.
Rooting is like making yourself the administrator and you can do anything you want with the device including installing custom roms and software.
You should backup/save your original default rom.
You should use a program like APN Backup & Restore to backup your default carrier APN -which is the login and password etc. for your data connection. (Then you delete the custom rom apns and restore your own. This makes sure you continue to use the correct info and don't affect your billing, data charges etc.)
I recommend keeping pics and stuff on your SDCard where they should remain untouched. So use a program to backup all of that stuff.
You do need to downgrade. If you save the stock rom then you can restore it when you sell the phone. Make sure you save it as completely stock (after a reset or something) as opposed to saving it with other of your information.
I'm falling asleep (3:00 AM) - go visit my site http://grantbarker.com/htc-desire-hd.html
Look to the right - XDA Guides.
There should be enough info to help and inspire you too, with plenty of custom rom links etc.
If it helps you, please give me a Thanks if you have a Thanks button yet on your account.
See you.
