Hello All,
Where shall I set my own ring tone for SMS? I did not find any place?
Can you pl guide for that?
Thanks.

Settings
Sounds
Advanced Tab
Messages Tab
Choose NEW SMS from the drop down menu
change the ringtone
Voila!

Ok Got the path. Thanks.
I got in:
Settings - Sound - Advanced - Notifications - Select Event that I want
Thanks.

I can select only the default ringtones for SMS here.
'Which folder I should put/copy my files (SMS tones) so that that will be listed for selecttion?

How to change the SMS sound ?

Hi
How can we change the sound when receiving a SMS message ?
Can we do it by callerid ?
thank you
You can change the sound notification under Sounds & Notification, once you open Sounds & Notifications go to Notification window there you will be able to change the sounds for different alerts.
And how to add a new SMS sound file to the device? It cannot be done by adding the *.mp3 or *.wav file to /windows/rings folder...
no but you can explore to where you put the ringer, tap and hold it, and choose add as ringer. that automatically puts it into the ringer folder and populates the drop list.
You can add a new SMS alert by putting a .wav file into the /windows folder, and then go to Settings / Sounds & Notifications / Notifications /Messaging: New Text Message, where you can choose your new .wav from the list.

Its not a file your looking for its a folder.
From your device
Open up file Explorer and there is a drop down list at the top left. Choose My Device then scroll down and you will see your windows folder.
From You PC with the Exec Connected.
Open activesync and click explore from the top. Then double click on the first line "My Windows Mobile-Based Device" . Then you should see your windows folder there.
Does anyone know how I can change the sound that is played when you send a SMS

How to change SMS sound??

I found many posts how to change ringtone and allerts sound, never how to change SMS sound ??
Any ideas ??
Thanks for reply (I hate my sms sound)!!!
Finaly found that.
Settings->Sounds->Notifications->(Event change to sms
But this way you can only use wav files from Windows directory. I use PhoneAlarm 1.3 and store (and use for SMS) WMA melodies on Storage - very good.

you can use mp3 sounds for sms notification with ringo mobile. 8)
Here comes ...
By navigating links from this page (I think URL is correct) you can find info you need.
Convert the ringtones to WAV format, then put the WAV files in the \Windows folder. Then you can select them as SMS notification sound.

hi, that link seems to be wrong and bad.leads to lots of "naughty/silly" pop-ups

Thank you
you can also just copy .mp3 or .wav files to
\Application Data\Sounds
haven't tried .mid yet
Ringo Stinks...
Yuup you may choose Phone Alarm...
I used to use Ringo, but it sucks... it often to keep "silent" n no sound from my mp3 I ever chose.
thank you nuumuun. worked first try
found a way how to do it
Copy your files to:
Application Data\Sounds\
I copied BOTH MP3 AND MID files there and it worked!!!
I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that you must make sure that the extension of the files are uppercase and for midi files it must be MID and not MIDI

Notifications and bluetooth

Is there any way that I can add my own sounds for notifications such as new sms and email etc.
Also, how do you send via bluetooth, with my spvm2000 it was a simple case of clicking on the file to be sent, click on send to bluetooth, job done, but there doesn't seem to be that option available.
Changing the sound settings will let you change the sounds.
To send via bluetooth, click Beam file. Bluetooth devices will appear below the IRDA ones.
thanks cymru,
re. the sound, what folder would i put the mp3 file?
re. the bluetooth, does this include mp3's and jpg's
Bluetooth - You can send any type of file this way, if thats what your asking?
Ringtones - Put in ~/Windows/Rings/
If that directory doesnt exist put into ~/Windows/
Then go to 'Start' --> 'Settings' --> 'Phone' --> [then choose the ringtone in the dropdown list.]

found the problem, have been using file resco explorer which only gives you the option of irda and email sending rather than the normal file explorer.
Still having problems setting my own sms notification though, maybe you can't do that on this device.

i am having the same problem over here..
i experimented with this and till now i discovered that u can only assign wma or wave for notifications (such as the text message or email) and they can be in either the windows folder or the windows/rings/
as for the ringtone it can be mp3 too

thanks zuz, tried using wma,wav and mp3 as sms alert but still only get offered the default sounds, whereas with the incoming call I get offered all the various formats of audio I have on the phone, finally found the correct windows folder by using file explorer rather than using resco as a lot of the folders are hidden

How to change ring tone for sms
Hey Dudes!
This is what I did:
You can copy any sound file with .wav extension and paste it into my document folder in phone memory.
-> Go to Setting -> Sound Notification
-> Incoming sms
You will see that the file that you just pasted appears in the drop down list
Enjoy!!!

Use your own mp3 as sms-signal

How can i use my own MP3 for ring and smssignal?
Br
Markus
For ring you have to have the mp3 you want in the folder My Documents/My ring bells (or similar, in spanish is "Mis tonos de timbre"; for sms signal I don't know.
You can put the mp3 file in the windows map and then you can select it... It works with wav files i used for windows live
havent tried in ages with notifications like sms recieve but back then
notifications other then rings can only be wav
I checked it and you can also use mp3 files for sms etc
put the mp3 or any other files in the following folder for them to be available from the SMS sound selection dropdown menu:
Code:
\Application Data\Sounds\
put the mp3 you want to use in the root of your memory card then goto settings/sounds and notifications/click notifications tab on the bottom of the screen/pick new text message from drop down/look for mp3 in the drop down and click ok.
