Hi all,
I have changed from the touchflo interface to the standard interface, seems a lot smoother to me (and i like the look) but is there a way to remove all the htc sense apps that are no longer in use?
Or is there a standard Android rom for the Hero?
Cheers
If I just wanted to see what the standard interface looked like, how would I do this?

Normal Android Home On Hero
Here's what to do...
Go to Settings - Applications - Manage Applications.
Scroll down to 'TouchFLO' and hit 'clear defaults'
Obviously this will clear the default action of taking you to the TouchFLO or Rosie UI home.
When you have done this every time you press the home button you will have a choice. Home or TouchFLO.
Now how can you put it (TouchFlow) back to default ?
If I don't want to have the popup when i click the home button ?
Ticking the "make default action" doesn't work for long

To switch back to TouchFLO do the same like in the first procedure but instead of TouchFLO, select the 'Home' app.
Getting the selection screen often is a bug caused by some apps (like task managers etc). Try uninstalling some and re-check.

Follow these steps to set the Android Home application as the default home screen rather than the HTC Sense UI.
1. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>HTC Sense.
2. Click on 'Clear Defaults'.
3. Now press the 'Home' button, and you'll get a window asking you to select an app to perform this function. Click on the check box to set an app as the default, and select 'Home'.
Now you'll use the default Android home screen and not HTC Sense. This will also enable you to select the wallpapers provided by the Android OS(including the blue landscape seen on HTC Magic\G1, etc). Just select the option so change the wallpaper, and you can select the Android Home gallery.
PS: You won't be able to use ANY of the HTC widgets now.
Enjoy...

You can Force Close it from the Manage Applications menu. That's the most I can do. I'm not a dev. So don't ask me hi-tech ways to stop it from running permanently.
Even with Sense running in the background the phone seems quite faster and I also prefer the default Android Home screen look.
Considering how Android handles running but inactive apps, I don't think Sense will use a lot of resources.

So it's basically the reverse of what you did to set Home as the default.
App called homesmack works.

or if you dont want to remove just navigate to htc sense and click on clear defaults or something similar. then click home you can choose android.
i was a bit worried to use some guides from other phones i m new on android i used 4yrs wm so i need to adapt to android os ... iac thank you for answers !
its easy.
go to settings->Applications->Manage applications->look for HTC Sense->Clear Defaults.
Than only press the Homescreenbutton and your wildfire will ask you, if you want to start the standartscreen or htc-sense. Than you can set new defaults

That's the way I did it! I much prefer the plain Android to the Sense, my only slight issue is that there are only 3 home screens. Does anyone know if there's any way to add more?
What you can also do, when you are in the main home screen:
Select: menu-scenes-and there is an option for a clean scene (in Dutch Schone lei).
When you selected this option, you can put in any widget/ application etc...
You will keep the 5 home screens and change wallpaper etc.
When you have done this all, you can save your scene via the same order (menu-scenes etc).
Good luck!
Dave
Just out of interest, does anyone know how you get Sense back after removing is as default?

Yup, that makes "Sense" I apologise for my terrible puns. Thanks for the help!
Guys, this do not work for me... When I Clear Defaults, all that happens is it makes HTC Sense looking "Default," the way it looks when I first turned it on, no choice between Home and HTC Sence.. any ideas?

I think you can, if that dont work, try and click clear defaults on htc sense instead of normal home, it should still give you the option when you press home for home, or sense.

I have a question, probably Dumb for me.....but if someone could help me out..
I installed Launcher Pro Plus on my DHD, but when i pressed the HOME button, it asked me to use " HTC Sense" or "Launcher Pro"..... , i selected "HTC sense" and set is as default. Now i want to use Launcher Pro Plus, but there isnt any app with that name, and there are no settings to use it.
I am sure someone can guide me as how can i set "Launcher Pro plus".
Thanks in Advance.
You can either download "clear default home" from the market or you can go to settings-> applications-> manage applications->all applications and look for HTC Sense (there are 2 apps with this name, take the bigger one). Click on it and scroll down a little bit. There should be a button calles Clear Defaults or something like that (cant tell exactly cuz my rom is in german). After pressing this button press your home button. Now you should be able to reselect your desired launcher

It is surely helpful to me.
Vielen Dank! ..... is it correct in German ?
Perhaps a better option is to download 'Home Switcher' from the market. This will allow you to switch from Launcher Pro to Sense and back (and any other launchers) without having to reset defaults.

I just installed SBP Shell 3D and that works as its meant to - pressing home button brings up choice of it or sony home..
Very odd - Launcher Pro cost me money!
Try Home Switcher maybe.
You need to go into the following..
Settings
Manage applications
Select 'home' app..
Click on clear defaults.
Press home key..
Voila.

Hardly launcherpro's fault - it's behaving perfectly according to the rules.
Sony Ericsson Home is set to the default launcher, so if you want to change launchers you have to clear the defaults for the launcher. You wont get the choice otherwise (which makes sense, you wouldnt want it asking you *every* time you pressed home would you)?
[menu] -> settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all -> Sony Ericsson Home -> Clear Defaults
Now if you press home you get the choice, enabling you to choose a different launcher as default if you like. This is all that apps like Homeswitcher, homesmack etc are doing.
edit: heh, iceman got in there while i was writing this - must type faster!
Ok got it going with Home Switcher app..
Tks

I have several apps which work fine on phone.
They also run on the tablet - BUT there is no menu icon, neither at the bottom next to the 3 standard ones, nor is there a menu icon in the upper right corner. There is no menu icon.
So I wonder if someone has a trick to send a "menu pressed" signal to the app so i can access the settings.
I know i know, tell them to update their apps, but some people have left and others will take years to fix that if ever -
So i thought perhaps there was some sort of shortcut or perhaps hack which could make a menu appear? You know like you can record keypresses on a PC and then play them back.
The soft menu button on the screen works fine for me, its the 4th icon (Series of lines, top one one is longest) - same goes for the menu button that's on the keyboard.

Yes..
It also works for me when they are there. But they are NOT THERE for the apps in question.
I think you got this backwards,
The menu button will only appear if the app has a settings menu.
Majority of the Honeycomb optimized apps do not have a menu button because there either isn't no menu for that app or they have moved the menu button to the action bar on the top right, which is the new standard
The settings button is primarily used for backwards compatibility with older apps. This is why developers are removing the menu buttonwhen they optimize their app.

As I also indicated, there is nothing "optimized" about these apps. (And these have many settings which are now unreachable)

Some apps on the phone will scale differently on a tab, if you used the menu button n your phone doesn't necessarily mean the tablet version will need a hard menu button.
As I said before, if there is no menu button the bottom nav bar, it would be on the top right corner of the action bar. Older phone apps should show up a menu button automatically anyway. The only reason if there isnt one is that the developer chose so because they added one on the action bar.

The only option is to contact the dev and say the menu button is disabled.
