Hi, i followed all the instructions on http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?t ... ic_Rooting, but when i get to step 10, my computer does not recognize the bootloader USB drive, so i direct it to the x86 folder in USB_driver and when i finish it says the hardware might not work properly. code 10.
I had to uninstall my drivers before and reinstall them and they worked fine, but my bootloader doesn't work so when i go to the fastboot menu it says FASTBOOT USB, then the USB sign goes and the commands don't work.
If it helps i am using windows xp and have a vodafone HTC Magic in UK and the device information is:
Firmware version- 1.5
Baseband version- 62.50s.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
Kernel version- 2.6.27-00393-g6607056 sa[email protected] #1
Build number- CRC1
In fastboot mode my information is:

You've got a Windows XP driver problem there. Code 10 is pretty generic and so is their support for the error.

Have you tried uninstalling the device in device manager and downloading the driver again? Failing that try another computer?

if you got to step 10, then you passed the
adb devices section
your drivers are fine
Restart your phone with the USB unplugged
hold back and power
you will reach the FASTBOOT screen
plug in the usb cable
The screen on your phone will change to FASTBOOT USB
at that point you can run the fastboot boot recovery-new.img command
should say
downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY
booting... OKAY
your phone will respond by restarting.
if windows 7 interupts you by complaining about a driver, and the fastboot command prompt gives you an error, then you have a windows 7 issue. I am using vista and it works as advertised.

Hi
I'm not able to fastboot a recovery ROM. I have tryed Amon Ra's and Cyanogen's recoverys. Both of them give me the same error. I type in the command, then get the error - cannot load. I put my Magic into fastboot, then connected the USB cable, checked, it show's that my Magic is connected (fastoot devices). I have put the recovery to AndroidSK/tools directory. IMO I'm doing everything right. Would someone have a clue, wht's wrong?
My handset is from Vodafone UK.

what command are you using to load it?
Strange, i had added the SDK's directory to the variables, but now when i cd'd the right direectory, it worked. Doesn't matter, at least it now works.
I tried to install a rom, and it is stuck at the green splash screen. I can still boot in HBOOT, but when I try to with my SAPPIMG.NBH, fastboot will not read it. I had to use a different memory card other than SDHC, is this why? If not someone please help.

Sounds familiar. I had the same problem a week ago. Install recovery again through the ADB in fastboot ..
no problem
no deal
ADB only works if it has an operating system to communicate with. Fastboot does not load the OS.
I'm having the same problem, check out my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614023
if you're lucky, you can use fastboot to load a recovery image. check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 and scroll to method "via fastboot -> Requires engineerings SPL!".
if your SPL is good you're good, if not the solution is much more complex (goldcard, change spl, ... )
Well I fixed it. I had originally used the wrong rom (for 32A). So I am a complete noob. But somehow eventually HBOOT eventually read my img. I have to be more careful next time.
I have a problem: when I turn on the phone ,the phone comes to menu and this came out:
------------------------------
sapphire pvt 32a ship s-on H
hboot-1.33.0009 (sapp10000)
radio-3.22.20.17
ma 8 2009
Hboot
<back> fastboot mode
--------------------------------
please help me,I dont no what to do
Connect your phone via usb.
Open CMD.
Navigate to the folder where you downloaded your recovery
then issue this command:
fastboot boot nameoftherecovery.img
then flash a rom that you previously downloaded and placed on the root of your sdcard
pc does not recognize the phone, some other advice?
tnx
So, I've got a MT3G that is apparently bricked. My buddy tried flashing a CM6 ROM and didn't root it properly - I'm assuming anyway since it's still S-ON. It powers up, gets to the CM Andy on a skateboard and gets stuck in a loop there.
I can get into SPL but that's it. I've attempted to erase the recovery and flash a new one with no luck. I can get it recognized via ADB with [ fastboot devices ], but I'm not sure that helps me much.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I don't mind the work, just need to find a way to get it past this point. If I can somehow manage to get it rooted from here, then flash a recovery so I can a ROM, that'd be awesome. Here's everything from the SPL screen:

Hi!
You're not recognized via ADB if you type [ fastboot devices ] and it gives you your phones S/N. You can be at FASTBOOT, HBOOT or RUU. To be recognized in ADB you have to boot in to RECOVERY or in to SYSTEM.
If you have working HBOOT (can boot to HBOOT with pressing VOLUME_DOWN+POWER), I suggest you to make a goldcard, download a stock rom for your MT3G (In FASTBOOT you can type [ fastboot getvar cid ], and the first 8 digits will tell you your phones CID number.). Extract the downloaded RUU and find the rom.zip (rom.nbh) file. Rename it to SAPPIMG.zip (SAPPIMG.nbh) and put it in the root of your goldcard.
Start up your phone with pressing VOLUME_DOWN+POWER.
If you get error about "Model ID" then your MicroSD is not a goldcard and you downloaded a "wrong" RUU ("Wrong" RUU (Phones CID not correct) can be good, if it is for MT3G like you have. Only you must create a working goldcard.).
If you get error "Main Version is older" then try to find newer RUU.
I hope, I helped you...
And then make the rooting with more care
Currently I am using:

Suddenly my device stop of work, it doesnt load the operating system and it just said "HTC MAGIC" in boot screen.
In fastboot mode, the comand "adb devices" doesnt detect the phone so I can reload the recovery.
PD: Also I can't start the phone in recovery mode... the phone just doesnt do nothing.
Can anyone help me to recover the phone?, any Idea of what is causing this problem? why adb doest detect the phone in fastboot mode?
Thanks!!!
