??
thank you

Urgent : Who writes the info for the connectors page????

Hello:
I previously started a topic in the general forum about the connectors:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11231
I have just made a discovery....
My car charger would not work even thought I had the right pins on the unit. I have found out what the problem was.
The document about the connectors for the Himalaya is slightly wrong - the pin out are right as far as I can tell, but the documents indicate the unit uses a 6V power supply.
I have just discovered that it should be a 5V power supply - I changed the voltage on my Car charger to 5V and it started working straight away. It seems the Himalaya might have an over voltage protection cct on it so it will not use the power if the voltage is too high, but I think the connectors tutorial page should be changed....

My DIY Car-holder also has 5 volts in it. it's quite normal for PDA's to run at 5 volts - there is also 5 volts in the USB-plug which also charges the Qtek.
I have made the modicifations to the Connectors-page regarding Pin 2-audio GND and DIY Car-handsfree. - but i wouldn't change what earlier users have written about the 6 volts. So i haven't changed the info on the 6-volt supply. but i sure wouldn't put 6 volts into my Qtek 2020 !!!! - This is very delicate electronics and just that extra volt can do a lot of damage, if it's not properly designed.

internal fuse

anyone know where the internal fuse is located? I do not see anything marked with an "F" like I have seen in some tutorials with other phones. I only see one componet that looks like it may be it but not sure at all.
I believe there is no fuse on a Magician device. What's the reason you're looking for a fuse?
fuse
unit will not power up. No lights at all, nothing. Also, I am using another battery from another jam that I know is good. With wall charger plugged in still nothing . Usb cable pluged in still nothing. Its like a fuse is blown or something.
Two possible reasons; 1-the backup battery is fully depleated. 2-there's a microswitch to the bottom right of the unit when faced down. The microswitch's lever is triggered to the on position by the battery cover. Most probably the small plastic tab of your battery cover is broken.
its definetely not the micro switch. When I messure voltage at the battery terminals with the wall charger plugged in I get these readings: starting from left to right:
pin 1 4.22 volts
pin 2 4.22 volts
Pin 3 0 volts
pin 4 3.45 volts I believe this is the back up battery because I get voltage here even with the wall charger unplugged. So I think it is good. Not sure what the minimum required voltage from the back up battery should be though.
pin 5 0 volts
pin 6 0 volts
I guess the battery must power the phone through pins 3,5,6
and charge the battery through the others.
I did confirm it is charging the battery but you dont know it unless you stick the battery in another phone to confim it as no lights come on at all to indicate that it is charging.
Anyway, If there is a fuse anywhere I sure dont see it. Lots of tiny surface mount capacitors and chips. Its like a componet is open somewhere.

Tell Me About PIN 1 and PIN 5

i try to downgrad my "prophet" and now i have (boot loader mode) only with AC adaptator and i see this
cut your charger cable open
the inner cable, the one inside of the inner white one connects to pin 1 from the physical top.
the outer one of the charger cable connects to the 5 pin from the physical top
Please Help Mee ( Tell Me About PIN 1 and PIN 5 )

About the prophet battery

Hello, If i get out the battery, and I the meter the voltage between the pin 1 and the pin 5 I have 0v.
But If I plug the battery into my prophet, when I meter the voltage I have 4,60v.
This is normal?? It´s my battery ok???

Charger schematics?

My Tilt's charger had a short in the wire caused by wear and tear. Im trying to solder a new mini usb end to the charger but don't know the schematics. anyone? thanx in advanced

Pin A and B need connected together and to ground, Pin E is the +5V, you're best off to just use a multimeter to check the wires in the charger rather than depend on them to have colored them correctly (if they're colored at all).
