Hello Everyone!, I would like to start off this topic with a Request to all developers to give birth to a XLink Kai WM Application! Naturally with something as complicated as a tunneling app to be ported over to a Mobile handset, i would like to begin a Bounty and Request for a WM Xlink Kai.
It would be absolutely amazing if we could get some official Xlink Developers in on this as it would give us a lot of in site.
=={About XLink Kai}== *As quoted from website*
"XLink Kai is a program that you run on your PC or Macintosh that allows you to play system-link / LAN-enabled games for your XBox, Playstation 2, Gamecube and PSP.
The software is referred to as what is known as a 'tunnelling' application. There are various other single-console tunnelling applications available, but XLink remains the only one to support all 3 major consoles..."

=={Why Kai on WM?}==
I Don't understand why is hasn't been done, but i still spectacle at the day when i can pair my DS or PSP to my phone as use that as my proxy to other players, instead of my Laptop in a long car ride. Which id still have to pair with the phone to gain internet access. Besides what if i'm in a situation when i dont have my laptop with me, but just my PSP/DS and Phone, and would like to go for a hunt in Monster hunters, and have someone team with me to get that blasted Kirin.

=={How This Well Be Done}==
I do not have the slightest Clue, i shall shed some light, when some Devs/Programmers can in this thread for everyone to see

Ideas are welcome, in fact encouraged.
For starters, would a sourceforge group be good for us? i have no clue, or what about that other site i believe it was Google that had a similar site like sourceforge for developers? Google Code?
So let the shows begin!
Bumping to see if i can atleast get anyone a "oh yes im interested in seeing this kick off as well"
P.S- Anyone interested in doing a mock up (Graphic)
xbox remote for the ppc a while back...kinda stalled out but might be a place to start definately connected and allowed remote control...on the original xbox- fantastic machine when running xbmc...maybe called xbmc remote.
somewhat irrelavent to what xlink is, its not a remote app, its an app that tunnels traffic (mainly LAN, or Ad-Hoc) over the Internet. to allow ad-hoc games to play over the internet.

I'm wondering if there are any Gnutella-clients, or other software, for WM that allows music searching/downloading. Would be nice to be able to download tracks on the go.
Call-script
double-post... sorry
well.......
You can always use a remote connection to your PC to download tracks, then transfer to your phone via Orb or something.
The problem with Gnutella for WM-
1. Legality- Service providers don't want their data being used to dl music illegally and afraid of being sued
2. Bandwidth- Same as above except without the "and afraid of being sued"
This might even get categorized as a warez post, but probably not.
But i digress. I must point out that the bandwidth that you would need would only be available via wi-fi, effectively killing the idea of "on-the-go"
ANd besides, the artists do good work. Let them get paid. Read my sig, just replace "using warez" with "Downloading music illegally"
pocket G2pro
i will give you a clue but i cant give you direct link in xda.software calls pocket g2pro that will allow to download music from gunutella network.cheers
yeh but g2pro has been offline for at least a few months if not a year they shut off their servers it appears so thats not an option.
i dont think p2p software is warez. the program itself is simply a program if someone codes it and offers it for free then its no worse than any other developed program in here. Im sure modding the HTC programs and puling them from the ROMs brings up all sorts of IP violations (for all you law buffs you know what im saying) technically. Im simpler terms i doubt modding and pulling HTC copyrighted software is exactly "legal" per say.
what you do with it is your own morality IMO. the p2p program in itself isnt warez though if its developed and offered for free
As far as the piracy-question is concerned; there are legal files on the Gnutella network aswell and it is off course only these I'm interested in. Like songs from some local emo-goth band and such. Ya. Bandwidth isn't a problem since I live in Sweden and have an unlimited HSDPA data-plan. Even if used strictly via WiFi it would still come in handy in my opinion. But it seems I'm out of luck though, doesn't it? Are there any good BitTorrent clients perhaps?
yes there is very nice bittorent client which calls adiasta bittorrent...also g2pro network is down but you can always add manuel gunetalla network.it was under the settings but i cant remember know.could you plase check ipmart-forum.you can get your answer guys.just check the under the ppc section forum.good luck..
ok, not warez. there are just some very radical people here that would categorize it as such. But yeah......
pocket g2pro alive and well

I've posted a couple requests like this in the past year, but no one bit. It's understandable as maybe not many people here use the Rhapsody service (it is currently only available in the US ).
I would be willing to beg on my knees (or pay money too ) to a developer who could throw together a simple app to stream Rhapsody's music to our phones.
I've tried streaming from Rhapsody.com with every mobile browser in existence, and none will do it. So I think a proper app is the only way to go.
I've attached what Real Networks refers to as "Rhapsody's SDK." It's not so much an SDK as much as it is documentation on how their streams work in html. I'm sure it would be helpful in some way.
I know with Rhapsody being US only, it really limits the amount of developers who could put something together, but my fingers are tightly crossed
so have I!
Nobody touches my music...
.....
well im sure it is possible. if you maybe make a server at home, then stream through ther??? somehow?

Perhaps. But there are mp3 players that connect directly to Rhapsody's servers via WiFi) without a pc or having to use your home pc, so why wouldn't it be able to be accomplished on a WM phone?
The Nokia N800 has a Rhapsody client. Some-one should really look at that code and see if it could be ported.

Nice find, Surur!
bumpity bump
and bump again, SWEEET....
Bump 1 more time. I would love 2 have this
I just recently posted a thread about this as well. I am glad to bump this one up, as old as it is.
Still to this day, nothing, Meanwhile Apple iPhone users may have their Rhapsody streaming application, very soon! Android, right behind them. Blah! What happened to us Windows users? Was Rhapsody not born on the PC? You know, "PLAYS FOR SURE".
Any developers or coders that can look into this, gracias!!! Thank you very much.
Here are some possibly helpful links:
Old Rhapsody remote app. http://www.openrhap.net/blog/
Could be reworked to access Rhapsody catalog through PC as server and then stream the music.
Didiom: http://www.didiom.com/
Capable of streaming Rhapsody DRM protected, non purchased, subcription tracks from PC to PPC.
I have attached the old files from the OpenRhap.net SDK from the Rhapsody Remote project. As well as the Rhapsody Remote and Rhapsody Relay files. For whatever use they may be.
Hi,
i think it would be great if someone could come up with a way of checking which friends are online on your Playstation Network.
I think there is something simmilar for Xbox live where users can use their WM device to see whos online.
It would be great if this is possible and i know many people will be interested in this.
someone....? anyone..? i just want to know if it can be done?
267 views and nobody thinks its a good ideA? come on people someone must be able to tell me if its impossible
Is there currently a way right now to access PSN friends from the web?
As far as I know, only your PS3 can access the information.
http://www.us.playstation.com/MyAccount/PSNL/FriendList
You can only view your friends list, however. You can't make any changes/messages/whatever.

iv got both the xbox 360 and ps3 but all my freinds have the ps3 so this app would be very usefull
why need a app for this then? go to the website and check it. opera oder pie should do that job.

thats like telling some one to cook a meal when its so much easier getting a ready meal from a supermarket lol
I understand its unnecessary but its more convenient
I'd be interested in this.
I dont' think there'd be a way to send messages though, considering that we can only do it while signed into PSN on the PS3 atm. If it's ever opened up though, this would be very nice!
The biggest issue is that you have to be logged in to view your friends, games, trophies and such. I personally haven't played with any of the web page objects for .NET myself, but have some experience with cURL in PHP. One could in theory create a cURL object that logs into the site, screen scrapes for the data you want and then outputs to XML or something. Then you create your WinMo app to read in that XML file.
Issue #1 w/ this kind of idea...the Playstation page uses a butt ton of JavaScript to setup things and cURL doesn't interpret JavaScript
Man, not to resurrect this but I think this would be a great idea as well. Like a PSN messenger that allows you to see who is online and message them. I hate turning on my PS3 to see who is online. Hate to message on my PS3 even more. be cool to be able to do this away from home etc. Shame it is a difficult task. I guess I'll have to use AIM. booo
There is the Sony Aino phone that allows you to turn your ps3 on and control the interface.
Do want! WM7 will have a XBL hub, not to thrill about that since I'm a Sony guy.
I was playing around a bit with this, but here's a good resource: http://api.geekweb.org/psn/community/
Now I haven't done a ton of development, only real basic stuff only to tinker and learn, but I had an idea for what I would imagine would be a pretty sweet app for WM Phones.
An XBox Interface Application, that would offer a bunch of features for people with XBox Live. What I was thinking was:
Ability to see XBL buddy list
Ability to read and respond to mail
Ability to use the keyboard on the phone to communicate with people on XBL (like the little MS keyboard for XBL)
Ability to use the phone as a "headset", to talk to people on XBL out loud
Access the XBL Marketplace, to purchase items to be downloaded to your XBox the next time it connects (as you can do over the internet now)
I was thinking that it would interface to the XBox using Bluetooth, as I believe that is what their controllers use to talk right now. I think MS could throw their weight behind it and develop this App as it could probably convince some people to look at WM phones over competitors. I don't care about iFart apps, I just want good usable apps that people will want!
And sorry if this is the wrong section to post. It seemed correct to me, but if it isn't please move and I won't be a repeat offender!
Jason
Some of those can be achieved (viewing achievements, buddies), but i dont think that you could use your device as a keyboard without modifying the software on the xbox too (doing that probably gets you banned from XBL). Voice chat would be impractical as you would have to hold the phone whilst playing, which is why a headset is a better idea.
Maybe you can look for it in windows 7, but for the time being, i would suggest just bookmarking the MS website where i beleive you can log in and do everything except use the device as a keyboard or voice chat.
i Like the heaset idea, but it would be better if your not there and can join a party and talk to them while your not at your console.
Another awesome idea:
Make my phone cook for me
Too bad both my idea and your idea can't happen.
I dunno, I think Microsoft could make it work if they decide to put it to the effort. And what I meant by the voice chat is having the phone wirelessly connected to the XBox, then using a headset attached to the phone to voicechat on (since I have all of these old handfree kits floating around that I rarely use, they fall out too easily when I'm walking my dogs, but while sitting there playing rockband I could get one of those to stay in).

Hello,
I started developing games for android a month ago, now Im wondering am I able to create a game such as super smash bros. for android that uses Bluetooth to communicate and play? The game will be mainly for tablet but will be adapted toward Mobile Phones.

Yes you can - Android supports standard Bluetooth API for peer-to-peer communication, typically using sockets over bluetooth l2cap protocol. This means you could also communicate with non-Android devices but not iOS - it does not support these API's.
Implementation is not too difficult, particularly if you are familiar with doing sockets in Java.
On the other hand, you will probably encounter wonkiness. One issue is various implementation bugs, which are different on the different manufacturers because they implement their own Bluetooth drivers and stacks.
Also, the Bluetooth protocol supports a master-slave architecture. A master can coordinate communication with up to 7 slaves, but operates poorly/inefficiently if it is simultaneously operating as a slave to another master (or the master of 2 piconets at the same time).
In practical terms this means that it will work best if none of the devices playing the game are simultaneously using Bluetooth for e.g. tethering, controller, headset, google glasses....
Also, what happens if the master of the piconet (probably the person who initiated the first connection) stop laying and leaves... how quickly and with what prodding from your app will a new piconet form?
Looking at what I have written I realize I am probably putting you off the idea, and I'm not sure if that is fair - while I've done Bluetooth on Android and have done all the weird piconet stuff on raw Linux, I have not personally encountered the issues I'm describing on Android (just Linux). So I'm partially conjecturing and would be happy if someone else who had tried these permutations on Android wanted to correct me...
QUESTION?
Thank you so much for yur reply and I would like to contact you in the future so would you please give me your email address?
