No problem Adamo. Download the file, copy and paste into your phone. After a click and install on your device. Simple as it should be...
Am I missing something?
This file is .zip, not .cab... When I copy to the phone and execute it opens as a zip file.
I tried to change the extension to .cab but no luck as well... I'm lost here...

I think to get YouTube its easier to open: m.youtube.com/app on your mobile phone.
It will download the .cab file so you just have to install it.
Or just download the cab file from here
Enjoy...
New .cabs added
bobnaldo, YOU'RE THE MAN!
Great Idea Bobnaldo !
We should keep this thread alive and add more apps and games. I noticed you created an alphabetical order, may i suggest adding a few words describing each app, or arrange them by categories.

I'm new to this PPC biz (HP 100LX -> Treo180->Treo270->XdaII)
So now that I've played with my XDAii for two weeks,
I'd love to hear what other people use. This is my current setup:
1. MagicButton - this change the 'x' application hide into a real close
and show an actual bar (like winXP, but on top). It is free, small,
doesn't work too well with Phone Edition :-( but is much better
than Battery Pack 2004. There are many ways to do this...
2. cLaunch - allows setting up icons on the Today to run applications
directly (like a desktop on WinXP). Again - this is free and seems
better than Battery Pack 2004 (which combines too many features)
3. GPRS Monitor - by SPb. cute. works well.
4. TotalCommander - files manager. free, looks good, seems to have
no bugs, allow zip/unzip...
4. Multiie 3.0 - allows multiple windows, full screen, save pix, view
source in pocketIE. Also Macromedia Pocket flash 6 addon to IE.
5. WorldMate 2004 - gives world time, misc data for travelers,
and weather forcast. Promblems: won't update via GPRS,
doesn't show sunset/sunrise
6. In conjuction with WorldMAte, I'm also using Pocket Earth which
shows a neat earth display and gives sunset/rise/distance etc,
and citytime, which is much more practical but with less data...
7. PocketTV of course, to play mpg files
8. myipconfig, pocketping - simple network utilities
9. ruler, rangefinder - neat utilities
10. Calculator - the free Engineering calculator by Agang
Summary:
working the OS: MagicButton, cLaunch, TotalCommander
Internet Explorer: MultiIE, PocketFlash, GPRS monitor
multimedia: PocketTV
world time etc: Pocket Earth, WorldMate, Citytime
network utils: myipconfig, pocketping
misc: engineering calculator, ruler, rangefinder.
Still looking for: a good regeditor,
battery/memory/etc display like Battery Pack w/o the other gadets,
show all processes/threads/memory status utility,
maping tools for GPS and scanned maps,
impoved contacts (like Palm's search), calander (allowing change of
date when alarm turns on), phone (dial with one finger / big letters).
Please post what U are using!!!
A note to XDA I users: I'm sure if you all meet it will be clear most
of you learned, a year ago, which is the best RegEditor, File finder,
etc etc... but us newcomers don't want to download every little
software ever written and test it ourselves ... please guide us!
Application list
After purchasing several hundred's of dollars worth of Pocket PC applications / games, I have narrowed my most used down to the following.
Hudson Mobile - IP Dashboard
Journal Bar
Journal Bar Expansion Pack
Super Calendar
Print Pocket CE - allows printing of emails and documents to IR and network printers
Resco File Explorer
Resco Registry Editor
TomTom Navigator GPS
Handymenu
Games-
Bejeweled
Jawbreaker
Pac-Man
Pocket Conquest
Been testing and resetting my PDA and finally decided to have this few programs in my XDA II:-
(arrangement as in my PDA pic)
1) HudsonMobile PhoneDashboard
2)Todayplus
3)Spb GPRS Monitor
4)Battery pack 2004
others :
5)Resco Explorer 2003
What program gave you the tabs on the today screen?
Never mind.. I found todayplus out on the web.
lol, I can see a "prettyest today screen" competition on here
That is pretty.
I am wondering what apps/games you really really reccomend that are essential. Like an essential Today launcher is iLauncher, an essential application is voice command, and an essential game is marble worlds.
just list them, i really need to know. thanks.
- Batti. Get a good look at the battery status in the wizard. [freeware]
- Birthday. Get ur contacts birthdays in today screen with age etc. [freeware]
- SPB ToPlay. Play WMP playlist from today screen. very simple apps. too bad doesn't support shuffle option. [shareware?]
- TCPMP. Divx player for windows mobile. [freeware]
- InClose Mobile. Best task manager I've seen to date. Switch to tasks. Close All, Turn off screen (cool for listining to music), landscape switch without sliding open keyboard. and other features. [freeware]
- E-TEN Dialer Vista skin. Cool dialer skin apps (unfortunately only English compatible and u lose smardial if u use it. [freeware]
- BatteryStatus. Overclocking the wizard in one simple touch, also continues overclocking. [freeware]
Most of the software can be found via Google or search the forum.
Cheers,
Shah
I use a few, but the must have's for me are;
Opera - PIE just can't handle java script as well and it has faster page rendering and tabs.
TomTom - The best GPS software.
Conduits Pocket Player - The best MP3 player, gapless playback, streaming, great format support and plugins. I dont think there is a better music player for WM5.
TCPMP - The best video player but dont use it much now i have a PSP.
iLauncher - Today program launcher. The MDA does not have the resolution or screen real estate for the clutter other today plugins make IMO. I only use it to launch TomTom, Pocket Player and Memory Map when i am driving.
inClose - Like magic button, but better, more options and has never crashed like MB always did for me.
Resco Explorer - The best file management app by far. If you own a WM5 device, it should be illegal to not have it.
Memmaid - Cleans up temp files, caches and registry. Not without it's fault, but there is nothing else that can really do what it does as far as i know.
Voice Command - Great for voice activation but when the hell are they going to update it for bluetooth and reading text/emails?
here are mine
iLauncher - Today launcher
PocketBreeze - Today launcher
Voice Command - Voice activation?
Magic Button - Closes applications (freeware)
Marble Worlds - Great Game (similar to marble maddness on NES)
Virtual Pool Mobile - Pool hustling simulater
OmapClock - overclocking
Pope Battery Status - displays battery status at top (made by somebody in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21699&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
(except it does have 2 problems, you can't turn it off without uninstalling it, and it shows up on every page, not just the today screen... bad during movies).

On the HS850, the gateway closes if you push the button. But pushing the button again reopens it. So it just takes two pushes to activate VC--one to open the gateway and one for VC. It's usable on the Motorola.

If you use latest version of WM5Newmenu (version 2.0.0 beta) happened to me the same but solution is easy..
Create a shortcut like this in which folder you like
\Windows\tmail.exe -Service "YOURACCOUNTNAME" -To ""
Don't forget the quotation marks and create a new menu Item and point the shourtcut you have created. And If you just want to check mail in the background (won't popup the email client screen) shourtcut is like this
\Windows\tmail.exe -Service "YOURACCOUNTNAME" -Sync
Thats great, thanks for that. I used the paramaters option in Newmenu rather than create a lnk file, but it still works fine.
Much appreciated.
Glad to help you , sure it works without a shortcut but I am used to create a shortcut for to use as a today item too.
Ok...
I currently have the Alltel PPC6800. Magnificant device. (in my opinion) It's loaded with all kinds of goodies and as a facility manager, recreational tinker'er and hobbyist, I have my phone well equipped to make it operate smoothly and still utilize it for task managing and fun stuff.
So I was curious as to what everyone else had on their device's in respect to their lifestyle, work habits fun likes and device compatiability...
Here is the list on my device running Custel's V1.1 Rom:
HTC Home Plugin - Large Clock display/Organizer from Touch
HTC Home Customizer - Customizes Home Plugin
HTC Dialer - Optional Dialer from Touch
HTC Audio Manager - Optional Media Alternative from Touch
HTC 10 Button CommManager - Optional Comm from Touch
HTCustom - Another Customizer
Office Mobile - Stock
Windows Live - Removed
Voice Dial - Removed
AutoUpdate - Removed
TaskMgr - Task & Application Management tool
TCPMP - Needed for You Tube'ing videos
TCPMP Plugin V0.4.2 - Needed for You Tube'ing videos
Skunkworks VideoBundle - Needed for You Tube'ing videos
PCM Keyboard - Optional Touch Keyboard
Total Commander - Optional Registry Editor
SKTools 3.1 - PPC Cleaner, File Management & Registry Tool
Pocket Plus 4.0 - Today Plugin Organizer
Flashlite 2.1 - Allows for various animations, etc
Macromedia - Allows for various animations, etc
Touchflo V1.4.1 - Touch UI
TouchfloConfig - Configures TouchFlo on/off, gestures, etc
Google Maps 2.0 - Terrific Mapping Application
TouchPadVibrate - Vibrates Dial pad When Dialing
MS Voice Command 1.6 - Voice/BT Voice Command Application
This sum's the very accumulation of what I have compiled that works with each other, is stable with VERY little memory leak and allows for exceptional battery life (1-1/2 days) with about ~1 hr Internet/~1-2 hrs voice/~1-2 hours application running per day.
What does everyone else have?
I used to use the TCPMP and flash plugin for youtube videos, but I found a nice piece of software, that is much better, its called vtap, just type vtap.com in IE on your phone, and install it. It has a really easy to use interface, and searches more than just youtube (all kinds of sites). Much better than youtube and TCPMP. Plus you can show off your phone, saying it can do things just like the iphone.
So I will not need Videobundle, TCPMP Core or TCPMP Plugin?
**Update**
I downloaded and I like it! I was able to remove the other three and althought it may take a little load, it searches and plays wonderfully. Thanks for the lead!
Interesting concept but the quality is severely inferioir to tcpmp. This looks like it was designed to stream on a MUCH slower connection. Running the original flash video with TCPMP flash bundle is much clearer.
I have been playing with the Vtap for a while and while the interface is really nice and easy to use, I agree with what Dishe said in that it may have been designed to stream on a slower connection. TCPMP loads faster, has less interruption and has many more settings.
But I will watch this product as it develops more as i am always looking for an alternative to TCPMP.
To get off Vtap, if you like Google Maps/MS Live Search type tools, try out Yahoo GO 2.0. Slick interface, Navteq maps and decent flickr interface.
Hello guys! The idea behind this thread is to find good software (must-haves), so I'm asking everybody to post a list of their software and its uses (Short description + Weblink if it's hard to find). Please DO NOT post random software and DO NOT post software that you have not tested on your X1. Do NOT post software that can't handle WVGA (this is to say it appears smaller or requires WVGAFix). Thank you!
I'm gonna start:
-.NET Compact Framework (Runtime for many apps)
-Advanced Config (Lets you modify in-depth settings)
-Elecont Launcher (Launcher for Today screen with sliding capabilities)
-LockAndOff (Simple App that Locks the phone and suspends it)
-Flash Player 7 (Adds Flash-SUpport to PIE)
-Garmin Mobile XT (Navigation SW)
-Gravity Mobile MusicID (Identify songs by recording them)
-Monopoly Here ANd Now (The Game )
-Need For Speed Undercover (Racing game)
-NoData (Disable data connections for example when abroad)
-Panoramic Calc Pro (The BEST calculator available; with plotting, scientific calc currencies interests etc)
-Pocket Digital Clock (Digital Clock for Today screen)
-Pocket Uno (The game)
-PPCFinder (Find files on your PPC)
-Resco Audio Recorder (Record sound)
-Resco Explorer (BEST file explorer)
-Resco Photo Viewer Pro (View and "edit" pictures, slideshow etc).

-Spb Wireless Monitor (Keep track of your data volume used)

Most of this is not available for free (legally). So I didn't bother to look it all up, took long enough to compose the list. If you need anything you cna always PM me and I can send you the things. You will find most of these using Google easily.

FDC Soft Task Manager
- very advanced task manager
NoData
- saves you monie$ if you're not on data plan (disables GPRS, EDGE, etc. connections)
SoftReset
- because Treo Pro needs it once in a while ....
VAlert
- lets you set up your own vibration templates for incoming calls, e.g. pulsing vibrate. HookMgr required - see below
HookMgr
- fixes the bug which causes the KeyGuard to malfunction with some apps running in the background (e.g. Fring, VAlert)
all Resco apps (File Explorer, Contacts, Photo Manager, Audio Recorder)
- very useful suite of thumb-friendly apps
Iconsoft PhonEx
- thumb-friendly and eye-candy dialer and contact manager, huge RAM footprint though (2MB)
Adobe Flash Player 7
- self explanatory
pcAnywhere 11.5 Mobile
- v11.5 compatible ONLY. Any other version of pcAMobile, including 12, is NOT compatible. Runs but will have screen tearing in main menu; remote operation fully functional
CleanRAM
- RAM "compaction" and "cleaner". I prefer to just do a SoftReset instead of wasting time on RAM "compaction"
ICBM
- Missile Command clone
Kevtris
- Tetris clone, with upgrades
Distant Galaxies
- 2D vertical scroller space battle game. Can sometimes mess up Today screen's carrier plugin (especially when using Treo Alert Pro). Go into your Today screen settings any time this happens, turn off Date then re-enable, then exit, for instant repair.
Pocket UNO
- classic card game
SmartMahjongg
- run with screen scaling disabled
Google Maps
- GPS mapping system, will run on Sprint Treo Pro without difficulty. GTP may require GPS bootstrapping first using GPSStarter, etc.
Bing
- GPS mapping, net search, local business directory, etc. Runs without difficulty on STP
Trapster
- P2P traffic, road hazard and speedtrap GPS-enabled reporting system
IEToggle
- small menu program that allows IE to run in either Pocket IE (single column read) or IE6 mode.

PHM Registry Editor
- name says it all
Skyfire 1.0
- internet browser utilizing server-based compression
STB TV2
- streaming video player
WeatherBug
- Today screen weather plugin. Graphics, multiple locations, severe weather warnings and more
YouTube v2.4
- streaming video player
Change Skin
Change Skin:
If you have SPB Mobile Shell, here is an app that allows you to change skins without a soft reset.
http://www.imarche.net/omnia/index.php
As far as I know this is the only way for SPB Mobile Shell to work on the Treo Pro as it supports 320x320.
I am having trouble with adding new widgets to the themes. I have the list of them but when I try to add the new widgets in Mobile Shell the list is not there.
Anyone can help me?
Moar apps!
BTW, all apps I mention have been personally tested for functionality on a Sprint Treo Pro ("STP").
Also, I am still using all apps mentioned except Kinoma [Free]Play and CleanRAM, both of which I did not like and uninstalled (Kinoma after much hair pulling over the decision). I was trying to give Kinoma the benefit of the doubt but all it did was try my patience every single time I (was sometimes 'forced') to use it.
GPSWeatherRadar
- GPS positioning enabled satellite & radar weather
WMStopWatch
- stopwatch and countdown timer functions. 'Digital' (rather than faux-analog) time readout interface, can play WAV file (only format supported) at end of countdown
ScanLife
- 2D barcode scanner
Weather to Go
- Today screen weather plugin. Graphics, multiple locations, etc.
WeatherPanel
XDA-developed Today screen weather plugin app. Graphics, multiple locations, historical weather graphs, choice of Today plugin theme formats and looks, etc. IMHO the best weather for WinMo devices. Download the WeatherPanel app plus the PhatPhinger 320x320 theme as well as the Phat+48+Classic theme mod to get all Today plugin options and correct format for Treo Pro.
more apps
Since the official Opera Mini 3 was released a few weeks ago, it has been great. So glad I could finally set it as the default browser on my treo pro, it's like it breathed new life into it!
Here's a few other apps that I have installed in my Sprint Treo Pro.
WMWiFiRouter - never could get the HTC wifirouter to work on my treo pro, but this is solid and steady.
BeyondPod - RSS feed reader and podcast manager. Easy download of your favorit podcasts.
Yomomedia - another RSS feed reader and podcast manager
Kinoma Play - A little expensive but good piece of software
KeePassPPC - mobile passwords, wish it was more finger friendly, but do like it because I can copy the password file to my desktop and use the desktop version.
DCP Enable Roaming - enables roaming button on Sprint treo pro. Great for me, because the Sprint signal is weak where I work and I sometimes have to flip it to roaming to get a good verizon signal.
Endomondo - GPS tracker. I tried SportyPal, and it didn't work, Endomondo is pretty good though.
Gmail 2.0.6 (java) - I don't really like the way WinMo Outlook works with gmail, but do have ActiveSync pulling in my Gmail contacts.
Bolt Browser (java) - When Opera Mini doesn't work, Bolt usually will.
Stick Thread!
Tell me, Treoprodragon, how is Kinoma Play full (paid) edition? The fact is, the STP came with Kinoma FreePlay (the no-cost version) from the factory...and I hated it SO much that I deleted it, even though it was free and OEM.
FreePlay's worse offense was when I went to open up an image, say from the SD card - Kinoma would open, display the picture and overlay "Preparing" (I can't remember the exact wording)...sometimes for over 1 MINUTE. Sometimes it would NEVER give me back control of the app, just staying locked on "Preparing", and I'd not only have to kill Kinoma but do a soft reset because of the ensueing memory leak. Grrrr
I did a reg hack to get my picture viewers back to MS OEM...but the I found FreePlay shows fewer YouTube results than the actual YouTube player, contrary to Kinoma's claims to the contrary.
In other words, Kinoma FreePlay simply seemed to do everything WRONG.
Mass Storage for Treo Pro
nueMassStorage seems to be working fine.
I am using version 1.2 installed via CAB file. Just tap new icon (not old one) inside settings -> connections -> USB to PC, select Mass storage, while advanced networking will be disabled under inactive Activesync part.
tested on GSM version T850UEU-1.01-VFU
