Hello
I recently purchased a HTC ozone and I'm pleased overall with the phone. However, I'm having the hardest time getting the XT9 to work. I've repeatedly gone into the XT9 preferences and set it to spell check. (the other two options are already checked) but every time i hit done, and go back in, spellcheck disables itself again. I've even tried to uncheck the other two and hit done, and they too revert.
I've done a hard reset to factory defaults to no avail. There has got to be something that I'm missing.
Thanks for all of your help in advance
Try hitting ALT and the Space key at the same time, then set it from there
Is there another key on the Ozone that works like the alt key. I have a functiion key, but that and space opens the comm manager.
thanks, i really appreciate your time
Solved!
Hello All.
I just wanted to let you know that I FINALLY found how to turn it on by accident. I had to create my first SMS message, and in that menu is the option to turn on global predictive text.
Thanks for all of your support and views. I'm glad to be a newbie at this forum
I have had my Ozone for 3 weeks now. I cannot get the XT9 enabled. I fould where the setting is but it will not save and enable? I aslo cant find it in SMS messge options anywhere?
Found it for the Ozone. Press and hold the "SYM" kery while in text typing mode in SMS or email. It then lets you turn XT9 on & off and saves it.

Hi all, uhm I'm having a little problem with my X1.
I can't assign any buttons anymore in settings -> Buttons
I can actually ASSIGN the left key or right key, but it will reset back to old settings when I do that. Now I have assigned:
Left key: turn screen
right key: today screen
And I also now see 4 options named ''knop'' (Buttons), but I think they didn't used to be there in the first place.
Anyway, whenever I change the right or left key (mostly the right key because I'm very happy with the turn screen assigning) to another option. And press 'ok', the button will(!) get that new option. But whenever I restart the device (or I guess even when time will last) the right button will reset to the 'today-screen' setting.
I don't know how all this could have happen, but I think I installed something wrong. I did install TF3D hd (manilla) as a panel. And after that more programs, I guess somewhere in that time this button assignment setting got cracked up :S
Is there anyway to get rid of the 4 ''knoppen'' (buttons) and be able to change the left and right key properly again?
Regards and many thanks to the one(s) being able to help me!
It's the Touch Flo software which restores the softkeys, a search would have solved this for you.
Thanks for your reply.
So you're saying that if I uninstall Touchflo3D from my X1, I will get my normal settings back without difficulties?
Regards
Is there anyway to turn it off? don't think have any use for its function and other languages.
There is an XT9 entry in the settings.
Im having this problem too. Im using the Sprint Snap if that makes a difference but if I go into settings and change any of the XT9 settings, they revert as soon as I hit done.

for whatever reason there are two possible ways to get into the xt9 settings and only one of them saves the changes. i can't remember how to get to them with the other method but someone will.
with my snap i just press (while typing a text) FN + space and then turn predictive text off
to turn off xt9 maybe its like the excalibur hit alt then space give that a shot
where is the "alt' key. I can only see fn and shift key
I have the same issue with the Ozone. Need to find how to emulate an "ALT" key?
Found it for the Ozone. Press and hold the "SYM" kery while in text typing mode in SMS or email. It then lets you turn XT9 on & off and saves it.
I have tried installing both of these, but although ticking to use the keyboard in settings, the "text input" does not give me the option to use, I saw something about this a couple of days ago, but can't find it now, any help?
I think I had the same problem as you described. Try clicking and holding in an input field and selecting 'input method' you should then have the choice of what keyboard to use.
Thanks Matt, now sorted, did not realise the trackball "clicked"!
Just wondering if there is a quick way to disable the swyping on the swype keyboard.
Love Swype but sometimes a std keyboard would be easier and I find I am changing back to the HTC keyboard for the odd message and then back again.
What swype needs is a quick way to turnoff the swype funtion and go Dumb mode.
Problem is if I type to quickly it starts picking it up as swypes
Thanks
Check settings, menu, all settings, personal, input.
Tought you could change it over there.
Thanks for the response however not really worried about switching between swype and another keyboard. More hoping there is a quick way to keep swype but make it faster as a normal keypad.
Some of my messages (Txt or Email) Swype is a bit of a hinderance. Trying to touch (tap tap) is painfully slow and so is switching between keyboards. (Bottom center. Tap slightly to the right will prompt for type of keyboard).
Eg entering in information and funny names I would like to tap one of the sype buttons and swype function is temporaily disabled. I then type what I need to (tap tap tap) then tap the key again and the swype function is reenbled and I carry on (swype swiggle swishe)
I feel your pain. Unfortunately, there isn't an option in Swype to turn of the "swyping" as you eloquently put it.
Hope they come out with a newer build that could do that and one where you can access the EDITING options with just one button press.
i simply press the small arrow next to the keyboard icon on the bottom of screen , and toggle to the normal, htc regular keyboard
edit: sorry, overlooked the op's main concern, please ignore

Hey, quick tip
you can quickly access the Editing options by swyping from the 'swype key' to the 'SYM key'
Hi,
i got a little Problem and someone probably help me with a few words:
Sometimes, i get in kind of a "hotkey mode" with the keyboard. Wenn i press "e", he opens emails, when i press "b", he opens the browser. Its impossible to type and the only thing ive found was to reboot my phone.
Can i somehow leave this mode? How do u get in there?
Many Thanks!

Sounds like your search key may be stuck down. Try pressing the keyboard search key and see if it is stuck down.
Sent from a touch tone tele-phone.
Press the search key again (on the hardware keyboard) and you should get out of this mode. I had this same problem running CM7, and you can go into the CM settings and disable all those shortcuts so that it can't happen again.
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
You can disable all the shortcuts from Settings - > Keyboard and language.
I disabled them because I find them pretty useless. The homescreen is a tap away
