For some strange reasons, in the main page of the music, I cannot flip through album but i can only flip through songs of a album. In order to access other album, I need to go into library to access them. Can someone tell me how i can flip through album is the main music page?
thanks
You cant
it will only show single songs on the tf3d tab and not albums
the only way to get it close is to creat a playlist with one song from each album but you still need to go into library to select other songs!
Hello everybody. I have a question belonging to windows media player on the htc diamond. i sync my music with wmp on windows vista. after this, i have several albums on my diamond.
in my bibliothek view on the diamond i will play one album and after this the next album. in the albums the titles should be played sorted by the track. so when album A have 12 titles and album B have 10 titles, it should be played first album A with track 1, then track 2 ... track 12, after this it should switch to album B and track 1... 10...
but when i click on the bibliothek on "music" -> "album" i see a list of all albums on the device. when i now click on "all title by album", the titles are played not in the sorted order as i described above. instead of this i become a new screen with all titlles sorted by titlename (not album or track).
when i mark "all title by album" only and click on play in the bar, it playes an album, but also in the same unsorted order (or sorted by titlename, not album/track)
how can i play the titles by album, sorted by tracknumber?
I have been using my HTC HD2 for a while now and I could swear the first two items below worked for me before but here goes. The last question is a "how to"
When playing music through the standard album art interface I get several issues
When in portrait mode you can't flip between albums only songs within an album
I can't find a STOP button, only a pause button. Where is the STOP?
I can't find the menu to play the playlists I created
Appreciate your help folks
Lazy HTC developers
1 press library - albums tab. there isn't room for all variant options on the front screen.
2 pause stops playback, and only having one button saves screen space. since the m music tab is always in memory it makes no difference if the track is paused or stopped.
3 click library choose play list tab click the list you want then click any song in thee list.playback starts from whichever song you click.
About the first question:
When you first got your phone, it only had the pre-added music that HTC put on it: just a couple of songs to demo the music player, with only one song in each album.
The first time you used the music player, all these songs were loaded in the "now playing" list. Since each album had only one song, skipping songs meant skipping albums. I think that's where you got the idea that you could flip through albums in portrait mode.
In fact, you can't; you can only skip through the songs that are currently loaded in the "now playing" list.
To flip through your albums, switch to landscape mode (you probably knew that already).
You're not the first one to ask this question; check out my explanation here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=588701
Many thanks for the responses folks. Saved me a lot of possible lost time trying to get my device back to vanilla settings.
Hello,
Just followed instruction:
Here are the steps to get to your video files and enjoy them with the HTC media player rather than Windows Media Player Mobile:
1.Tap Albums from the Sense screen.
2.Tap Albums from within the screen that now opens. (Mine is labeled Camera Shots at the top left.)
3.Scroll down to your Storage Card area (if that is where you placed your movies) and you should see a thumbnail for Movies with the number of movies you have loaded on the right in parenthesis. You will also see a Transformers folder here.
4.Tap the folder and then tap on the movie you want to view using the HTC media player.
Now, this is a rather convoluted way to get to your movies, so here is what you can do after drilling down to your Movies folder as detailed above.
1.Tap the Menu soft key on the right.
2.Tap on “Set Album as Favorite”
3.Your Movie album will now be the default on the Sense Today screen so you can flip through your movies there. Unfortunately, you can only have one favorite on the Sense Today screen so you cannot have both camera shots and movies placed there

And just works almost perfect. I have 8 movies on sd card and I only can see 1 thumbnail from 1 movie. I cant see the others. There is no problem finding files and playing via wmp and HTC player. Just Picture/Video TAB doesnt show all the video files what i have. There is folder and when I click albums there is information 8 files inside but when I get into the forder I can only see 1 file there. Any Idea what is going on?
I am working on Artemis 15.5 and never checked this when had stock rom.
all movies converted using the same program and the same settings.
Before I start I want to be clear that I'm talking about 'Album Artist' here, not Album or Artist alone - just to save anyone being confused!
Basically I can't see how to set the Zune player on my HD2 to list music by Album Artist instead of normal/real Artist.
What I mean for anyone who doesn't know there terms, is mostly applied for stuff like compilation and mix CDs, where you might have tracks by a dozen different artists, but sold as a 'Ministry of Sound' CD for instance.
I want the artist to show as Ministry of Sound on my Zune player, because otherwise I end up with a separate artist showing for every track on the CD.
So for 1 CD, I might end up with 12 Artists all with 1 track against them, instead of 1 Artist with 12 tracks listed. And the end result is my player shows that it has hundreds of artists on there and it takes ages to scroll through them.
Sure it's not just me that has this problem, and most MP3 players can cope with this, but I can't see how to list music by Album Artist in Zune, either on the phone or on the PC.
Hope someone can help as this ruins the music player for me.
Cheers!

I just tried syncing "cafe del mar" (which has various artists) from pc using zune to hd2.
how i have it set up is in windows explorer (windows 7)
have the following columns viewable in windows explorer #,Title,Contributing artists,Album,Album Artist
album artist set as "Various Artists" (equally you could have it list as you which but all songs the same)
album set as Album Name (obviously)
Contributing artists - each song set to correct song artist
You can batch change the Album and Album Artist in explorer simply by higlighing all the tracks, right clicking properties- then details. here you can modify as required.
worked perfectly when sync'd to phone.
back in Zune on HD2
Artists lists "Various" and not all of the contributing artists
Album lists "Cafe Del Mar:Best Of 2004" which is the name of the album
Hope i'm on the right track with what you meant.
Thanks mate - I think we're on the same wavelength yes, but slight issue I have here is that my collection is on an xp machine.
When I try to view my music in detail view, contributing artist or album artist are not available options to have as columns in the folders, so I can't view the info that's stored on these tunes to check how they're set up at a glance.
I guess the first thing therefore that I'd need to do is to download a tag editor of some sort so I can view this info as it may simply be set wrong.
I think in my case I would be setting such info in these cases to Cafe Del Mar (good taste btw) or Ministry of Sound rather than Various as otherwise I'd have too much stuff under the same 'artist', and plus I can navigate a bit easier to stuff I like if I know which it comes under. Would have other groups like Soundtracks and so on as well.
Do you know if it's at all possible to add extra columns like that in on XP? I have a feeling it must be since I'm sure in the past or on other machines I've been able to, but I could be dreaming!
My windows 7 machines are laptop and netbook and they don't have the space or the speed for handling vast amounts of music, so for now at least it needs to be an XP solution for this, and if I can't set the folder view correctly somehow, it's gonna get pretty tedious pretty quick checking everything in turn in a tag editing app.
Thanks for the reply anyhow!
haven't been on xp for several years now but i'm sure its similar in explorer.
two ways - either...
in explorer-Right click on the album folder- properties. (alternatively the folder that holders all your albums
choose Customize Tab - Then Optimize this folder for - Music
(can apply to sub-folders as well)
or
if thats not an option go into the music (album) folder in explorer
Right click in the right window pane where Name/Date/Type/Size etc is and hopefully there will be a "more.." choice...
Add Contibuting Artist... and repeat for additional...
you can also uncheck items not required.
once you've done the above to the Root Music Folder you then
Goto the root Music directory and apply to the rest of the folders
maybe under file/folder options/view - "Apply to Folders"
Most of the above is guess work on very old memories of xp
Your description is absolutely correct except that in the list of available columns the options of Album Artist or contributing artist do not exist. I've already got the folders set as music template so that's not the issue.
That's why I was wondering if it's possible to add additional columns since the data is there (it shows in a tag editor as Various artists - I just checked!) but XP doesn't appear to be able to display those columns, even in the 'more' section etc.
On another note entirely - anyone know how to prevent the phone making a noise when I plug a charger into it? I've messed with the sounds options and turned off the option for 'other events/activities' or whatever it's described as.
Don't want it on silent but when I get in bed way later than I should be, and plug the phone into its cradle I don't want it announcing to the mrs what time it is by waking her up!!
