There are a few things keeping me from using mobile shell as my main interface.
First annoying issue is that in the "3-D SMS" section, when you press "reply" it opens up a blank message with no one to send it to. Why wouldn't it automatically add the contact I'm replying to?
Another issue is that the calender widget doesn't show full day appointments even when that option is selected from the menu. Strange...
And any of the text entry widgets, such as the Twitter, Facebook and Google widgets have problems switching from portait to landscape. I'm sure most of us are used to tapping on a text field, sliding open the keyboard and proceeding to type. Well, sliding the keyboard removes the curser from the text field, so you have to tap on it again to start typing.
These issues are very minor, but seem so simple to solve and are therefore annoying. I want to use mobile shell, but touch flo still seems more efficient and "quirk" free.
Does the bluetooth toggle function work? In the previous version, Mobile Shel 3.01, nothing happened when pressing the bluetooth toggle widget.
Unfortunately - it still doesn't. I'm using EnergyROM "Genesis" 9/12.

Yeah didnt work quite right on my sprint tp2 either, so I just maked a "shortcut widget" to the Connection manager in the control panel. It doesnt look as nice, but its just as quick to load and then you get all the options.
Airplane, phone, bluetooth, wifi, direct push, and cellular data that you can turn on or off, or tap settings to change.
IMO its better this way than even working bluetooth/wifi buttons
Hey Everyone! I am on the latest CDMA 21869 Energy Rom (Sense 2.5.1921), trying to resolve a few issues:
1) How to get rid of the endlessly flashing notification light. I turned off all flashing notifications in settings and installed the “Notification LED Enable Options” cab, without effect?
2) How to expand the start menu to 4-5, tried some of the cabs but none seem to be working on this version?
3) I regularly get a “777 - can’t establish connection”, even though all connections seem fine?
4) The long-press SEND button tries to launch some application, which is not properly set up (can’t tell what, but I did install voice command, I wonder if it’s related). I would like to get it back to the customary default of turning on the speaker?
5) How to make this Opera 10 the default system browser?
6) Is there a command line / shortcut to press one of the phone buttons (#1) during a phone conversation, I would like to map it to a hardware button?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I am using FroyoStone Sense V2 build - this build is using Android 2.2 with sense and it is brilliant on my HD2. I have set it up and am quite happy with it, but one thing I cant seem to find is how to turn of the vibrate on the dial pad.
I have managed to do it on the keyboard but cant seem to find a setting for the dial pad its self.
Does any body know how to turn this off, or is there a .apk I can download to turn this off?

On your phone 'dial' pad screen, click windows button, Preferences and some where in the middle you will see "Enable Haptic Feedback" check or on check, whatever your preference is and this will take care of Haptic feedback when you dial.

That option does not seem to be available in android 2.2
From home try hitting the settings (windows) button and select Sound. third from top is "Vibrate - vibration feedback for calls and notifications." Uncheck that and the vib should go away.
Nice one.worked just just as you described it. Thanks

Possible solutions:
1. Buy a pouch
2. Put your phone facing outwards (not recommended)
3. Put your phone upwards (that way you'll accept the calls)
4. Use a dialer that has sideways swipe for accepting/rejecting calls.

That would require him to be rooted and have CWM installed. He is not rooted.
To the OP, Just go to the market and search for dialers. They are phone applications and each should have a different type of lockscreen interface.

Swype
Is Swype available on stock fw, if yes how could it be activated?
It's all in the first post! It's kind of like a cut down version, it's a mash up of the samsung keyboard and swype.
I have installed the swype beta, and while on the s3 the swype keyboard height is about a third shorter than other keyboards I still prefer it over the stock.
If you want a real swype experience then your better off applying for the beta, the version in the s3 is very limited.

For some reason the Swype installer doesn't work on mine. When I run it, I get a parsing error.
I'm quite liking the built in Samsung 'swype' feature. But then i'm new to this kind of input, but it's def quicker and more accurate for me than using the standard way. My girlfriend loves Swiftkey on her GSII though and i may try that at some point.
In regards to tips, when in the contact list, you can swipe along the right hand side and flick through the alphabet quicker, as usual, but if you push your finger further left while doing this it will then narrow the search even more.
Hope that makes sense!

I won't include that in the first post as it is not s3 specific. But thanks anyway

@LennyUK How about including how to activate Direct Call & Smart Alert as it's deactivated by default.
Go to Settings -> Motion -> Direct Call / Smart Alert
Does anyone know how and where Tap to Top works?

After activating it from motion settings, gently double tap on the top of the phone to go to the top of a list, unfortunately it only works in contacts and email. Another thing is that it sometimes needs more than one trial to work!

Install call vibrate from market to allow vibration when call is activated or deactivated

Must install Light flow from market as well. It uses the LED function of SIII to max. You can customize 8~9 colors for various alerts. e.g i use orange for low battery, red for missed calls, green for missed sms, white for charging, green for full charge, blue for no signal etc.
Although sometimes the charging light doesn't come on when playing around with phone and switching it to sleep mode but hopefully fix will fix this issue.
Must have app though
Enable Palm swipe to capture from Settings -> Motion and show it off to iPhone users...

I managed to get Swype installed on my stock Pebble Blue.
Got Swype Installer & attempted for about 10 times over Wifi before it finally started downloading.
Before that, I kept getting the "Parsing.." error.
There was nothing new / different in my attempts - just had to keep hammering at it to download.
Just found these neat tricks on http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii-review-757p3.php
"There's one more trick - you wake the phone (tap the power button or the home key), then press and hold the screen and rotate the phone horizontally. It will unlock and start the camera as soon as it's in the right orientation to snap a photo"
"Shaking the device lets you detect nearby Bluetooth devices, as well as update your email, news or weather apps."

Light flow is really nice but it didn't work as i wanted it to...
after install and reboot of the phone all suddenly it started to speak if i opened a folder or closed one so i had to remove it for a while lets hope the developer will fix that bug lol
A great alternative!!
Touchpal keyboard is an awesome alternative for swype.
Download it from playstore.
If anyone's phone feels a little sluggish (I know mine doesn't) you could try enabling 2D hardware acceleration to make it a bit more snappy
(settings->developer options->force gpu rendering)
please note this may drain your battery more than usual

How does it look on your phone? Is it a shorter keyboard as I've reported in the q and a forum? (as in it's height is about a third shorter than other keyboards).
