Just saw this video about the new Mobile Internet Explorer with flash, silverlight and ajax support that is supposed to be part of the WM 6.1 release. None of the WM 6.1 cooked ROM I've tried contains this new browser.
Are the cooked roms not based on the released WM 6.1?
See video: http://www.geardiary.com/2008/04/02/windows-61-in-action/
this is the next version of mobile IE who is coming end of 2008
He's still correct though, the WM6.1s aren't proper 6.1 versions are thay?
I mean what about the 'bronze' today plugin stuff?
HP 210 now has a working WM6.1 & 6.5 ROM.
The software I use only will activate on WM 6.1 or better. When I flash my HP 210 to WM6.1 or 6.5 and try to activate my CalAtlanta software the activation fails. The CalAtlanta software will only install on a Smartphone or PDA divice that is running WM6.1 or better. The failed message states that the software will only work on WM 6.1 or better - which means it doesn't acknowledge the 6.1 or 6.5 as being higher then original WM 6.0. I have some very talented minds working on the issue already, but I thought the more really smart people who knew about it the better.
Can anyone think why the activation doesn't acknowledge WM 6.1 as a 6.1 version.
Did you ever solve this problem?
anyone knows if softwares we using now still work after flash rom to wm6.5??
yeah the majority does, ive found some that dosent tho, wm 6.5.1 seems to be more comptible with wm 6.1 software than wm 6.5
Hi, I've got a question...why is windows 6.5 always used as basis for romcooking? isn't it possible to use win 6.1 as the performance is better and than for example combinante with htc mega design or so as in the actual roms with win 6.5? i didn't find any stylish and well cooked 6.1 rom for opal
I think it's because no body feel like using a cook 6.1 ROM instead of official 6.1 ROM.
The official ROM always the most stable and the performance is better than any 6.5 ROM. It uses just 30% of RAM when closed manila. And it's no bug.
The thing is I use 6.5 ROM because I want to upgrade my PPC. That's all.
I Use 6.1 German and it is great looking at performance....but the fingerfriendlyness is better in win 6.5....so i'm searching for tools to improve that in windows 6.1....i think...on the opal...6.5 sucks :/ Tested mandy roms from here...but very slow stuff...

No buddy here i want to correct you that wm 6.5 is not used as base actually wm 6.1 is only used for cooking as a base rom.
What you wanted to ask is why only wm 6.5 roms are being cooked right?

You say that it only uses 30% battery then what would u say for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628325 which has more free ram than wm 6.1
That why I am waiting for your ROM jagan2. Because you like to make LITE ROM and I will use LITE ROM only. I love to install my stuff myself.
Not that the other M2D 6.5 ROM is not good. The other may like it.
Oh, now I am using mua30 lite ROM ^^
Hi Experts,
I am planing to purchase one windows mobile company called Digibee its from Bangalore-India. It has WM 6.1 version preinstalled in it.
Earlier I have HTC Excalibure to which I have flashed n mumbers of time to WM 6.5.
Now my query is, can v flash any WM 6.1 to WM 6.5.
Pl. advice.
Best Regards
Karan
I think you can, but first search for a 6.5 or 6.5.x rom suitable for your phone. I have a Samsung Omnia i900 which comes with WM 6.1 Pro, now I have cooked (custom) WM 6.5.3 Pro flashed on it and it's working even much better and faster than the preinstalled WM 6.1 Pro. much more memory too.
Just use the Search field for what you need
But the best thing to do is to ask the phones company is it can be upgraded, byt be ware that flashing with custom rom will erase your warranty, but I think you already know all these things cuz like you said, you've already did flashing new rom

Hello,
I have purchased this digibee (SP1 (model), 3.6" WVGA, 256MB RAM,256MB ROM,Marvell PXA 310 624MHz processor, Windows Mobile 6.1) device recently,
Is your device same as mine? If so do you have any ROM (stock or custom)?
please reply....
Thank you,
Goutham.
Request advise
Hi Karan and Goutham,
I am also attracted to this phone. I have been searching for a review of this phone but couldnt get one. Now will you pls -both of you- be kind enough to give me your suggestions for this phone, ie whether I should go for it or not.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Thilak,
Yes of-course you can go for it, you'll never get a windows mobile with good specs at this low price . Its performance was almost same as my previous HTC Fuze (Touch Pro), and it was running under Windows Mobile 6.1.I was searching for its stock ROM so that i can start experiment on it with other ROMs.
And many of the driver files in our digibee matches with Samsung i900 Omnia (Such as, board, processor (Marvell PXA31x), display, battery etc), and if I find digibee stock ROM then ill experiment with i900 ROMs.

Disappointed performance
I am very much disappointed with this device. I cannot load most of the apps found on the net. Installation is a problem and where installation is not a problem the battery heats up like an iron box and drains fast. I wouldnt recommend this for any one.
Under these conditions I dont think any modification like upgrading to WM6.5 will be possible.
