I wondered if you guys could help me.
I'm trying to set a song as a sms ring tone, I've edited using the mp3 trimmer to about 10 seconds long.
But when I receive a a message, it doesnt stop when I open the message and keeps repeating for about 2 mins without me being able to stop it.
Anybody know an easy way of setting this up as I'm lost
thanks in advance.

here goes
custom ringtones for windows mobile generally keep playing even if you have read an sms or you have accepeted the cal(i dont know why) but thanks to DUTTYS wm 6.1 update i can use any ringtone i want and it stops as soon as i receive my call. niways incase u dont want to update just make shure you make the ringtone real short or look for a fix, or u would have to use the default tone.

Hello,
actually is the first time i post on XDA no matter i read many useful and helpful threads on it.
I own an unbranded HTC TYTN II - just meets all my needs for businnes and fun.
Some day ago i decided to personalyze some way the ringtones.
Watching here and there i found a very nice tool - RINGO MOBILE - wich allow to setup ringtones by playing every Mp3/Wma/Wav stored in the phone or Storage Card.
You can personalize call ringtones as well as Sms Notifications, for each group, each contacts...
It works great untill now BUT i found an annoying BUG.
When i receive a call I cant silence anymore the audio notification just by scrolling the jog wheel.
Too bad because that program have great feautures in terms of FULL ringtones groups&contacts personalizations.
If someone got the same issue or have some valid alternative (i tried also Mortring but doesnt work well as Ringo Mobile does) pls feel free to IM me or make this thread do not die at the beginning.
Thx by the way to XDA developers, you Rock!
HTC Audio Manager does the same thing.......

actually the audio manager does is allow u to make ringtones from mp3....i hve not used this program but if it does what he says(which im sure it does lol) it goes way beyond htc audio manager....
..
I agree with you that HTC Audio Manager sets MP3 as ringtones and trim them up...
But i didnt see any option that allows you to set mp3 as SMS Notification, or set them per groups and contacts. HTC Audio Manager doesnt personalize ringtones.
Whatever, if someone v got the same bug or a better alternative pls post it here.
Any free key for this?

hello to u all who came in to my terd an 10q
I m sorry about my lazy English.
so I am running in my diamond the 2.03 rom from telecom and i want to change the alarms rings like the sms and the clock.
I succeed change the phone ring to mp3 but when a call came in he start to vibrate like madness and not stop until I answer.
maybe you know a little app that works it out?
10q 10q 10q
You can change the vibrate-pattern with a little app called 'VAlert'. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437279
re
10q man i will try it out!!!
some know how i can change my alert sounds?
Start/Settings/Sounds and Notifications/Notifications
yes i know that
but i don’t see my mp3 or my wav files when i try to change for example the sms sound.
i put the files in the windows rings folder
SMS sounds múst be put in the folder 'application data\Sounds'
Great program
A really great program that is free and just released for this very purpose is G-Profile.
http://www.ageye.de
The author has some other really neat and useful programs that I use as well. Check it out.
Anyone know the filename and loacation of the SMS sent notification sound, Iv had the same sound for the last 3 phone's and I think its time for a change!
Can it be changed?
where is its location?
do I have to do anything to the registery or just change the filename?
Thanks in advance
Edit:
I just figured out how to change the notification sound for the people who get it!
First download totalcmd "this allows you to replace files in use in the windows dir"
get your .wav or .wma file.. call it notify.wav (sometimes notify.wma)
Use totalcmd to replace the one in the windows directory with the one you created!
Cant belive it was that simple

Sorry misread your problem......
All you have to do is copy and paste the sound file you want into your windows folder (root) on you internal storage then go settings>sounds click notifications then hit drop down box until sms received etc then click on sound drop down find your sound file and click whatever you want it to do vibrate flash etc the click ok.......and as Gordon Ramsey says done
thx I was wondering why it didn't show my music files when I changed the sms sound. any restrictions to the format (mp3, wma, ...)?
So doesnt anyone know how to do this?
They are in the Windows folder, restricted to wma.

You have missread like eveyone else! im looking for the tone that plays when you SEND an SMS not when you get an sms
Mine doesn't make any sound when I send an SMS.
I wish it did, or at least give some notification that the message has been sent.
My TyTNII made a sound and displayed an on screen notification. The Leo seems to do neither.

I get both and I like having the notification I just want to change the sound because after 4 years of a really loud "duduling" it gets a little annoying
I did have a rom once on my Kaiser that had a diffrent sound but cant find how to change it anywhere!!!
Did you do anything to set up these notifications, or was it like that 'out of the box'?
I would really like to get them working on mine but failed so far. I've tried Advanced config and managed to get one notification, but since then nothing
Cheers
You get a sound when you SEND a SMS??
As above I get nothing what so ever, when I first got the phone I sent the same message 3 time before I realised it had actually sent!! lol
Another annoying 'feature'......

Does your Leo have an O2 branded ROM?
I wonder if they tweaked the notification bit before they released it.
I got mine SIM free, so it's a vanilla HTC ROM.
Mines unbranded SIM free, so shouldnt be tampered with!

I'll have a dig around the registry and see if I can find anything relevant.
Also trying to create a new folder in SMS. Again easy on my TyTNII but not so easy on the Leo.
I'm not so keen on the HTC messaging app so far.
If you want a delivery report...
Go into ALL MESSAGES when on the SMS tab , then MENU > SETTINGS > OPTIONS and check the box "Request Delivery Report".
Yeah but then every other message in your inbox is a DR!!!
We want a sent confirmation sound/pop up, and I want DR's that dont require opening, and have their own folder........... like a Nokia for example.
Wasn't this a Registry hack on the other WM phones. I remember having to check a box in a config app to get my HD to do this.

Yeah it was a registry setting.
If I remember correctly it was;
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMsg
I have that set, but the Leo uses the HTC messaging app, so it doesn't work...
it works however if you disable htc messaging app. thanks for the tip.
does anybody know if there is a way of changing setting on the htc hd2 so that once you have received the message the tone stops,
e.g if i have a song as the message tone i recive the message bt it continually plays until the end of the song, this proves to b a pain
any help would be greatfull thanks nick !
yes its a pain, no, no one has worked out how to stop it.
