Thanks a lot.... and thanks to keyx too!!!
Thank you both very very much.
I am very new to this, and from the looks of it, most of the things I will change will be in the OEM folder, correct?
Also, I wish to make PureBlack2 my default theme. I was able to figure out how to extract the CAB using MSCEInf. But why is your default theme in the Themes_DPI_96 folder and not the Themes folder?

I want to create an Iconsoft Phone Extension Theme, but i cant even open the default theme to reach the image to modify (IF theres some image)
can someone help me?
i attach the .isp file (the qvga skin)
The new theme builder is out!!!!
realise from iconsoft, from 4pda.ru
it can extract all the image from the theme file!
Hope now someone can make a theme!
Attached all the theme (in all the resolution) and the theme builder.
Any one has tryed? please!?
At least, tell me that is not possible...
Well i think .isp is their own file format for their own graphics. So unless iconsoft releases the packager to create those archives, we cant do anything about that. But i would really like to see other themes, especially cause they are promoting full skinnability as a main feature.

That's good.
I see Themes on 4pda.ru, but all in Russian.
I like themes look's like "Yota" or " Diamond-Black ( with green ) " for my X1, but i can not create Themes. I'm running Linux.
Sorry for my English.
You need the iconsoft theme builder. You can find it here:
--link to warez site removed--
First use the program to open the .isp theme and extract it somwhere. Then replace the image files in extracted folder with your new graphics. Then use the theme builder to build the isp file again for your resolution.

Where is it ?
.ist vs .isp files
The phonEx themes are .isp files, but the theme builder can only read/compile .ist files - any idea of what to do? Some have posted that they have sucessfully edited these .isp files? How?
Cheers!
The phonex theme are .ist file.
meaby you have an older version of phonex. the editor work only with 1.3 and 1.4

Thanks for pointing this out. I do indeed have PhonEx 1.4, but I didn't realize that the newer versions are installing on My Device instead of My Storage, regardless of where you choose during installation. I was still looking in My Storage\Program Files\Iconsoft\Phonex\skins and seeing the old .isp files - got it working now!
Thanks!
From request of gfandrea on Cellularmagazine, I have translated the language.txt in the Italian language, enjoy!

Hi cookers!
I'm looking for a tutorial on how to add Sense to roms I've cooked.........
Is there in the forum or somewhere out there some kind of instructions?
Thanks a lot!!!
Hi,
Welcome to Chefs Central
Could you tell for what device you are cooking?
It's requested in the 'Welcome to chefs Central' anouncement here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=612
It's important because if people don't know what resolution your device is it's impossible to give you the correct answer.
Also some info about which kitchen you are using would help a lot.

I'm cooking for the Xperia X1 with Ervius VK....... but I'm just trying the OSKitchen right now....
I'm trying to add Sense 2.5 to my roms (WM 6.5.5 build 23563 or 23568)
Allright so that's a wvga device, thank you
Do you know how to dump a rom?
If so dump the rom which contains the Manila you want to cook in.
After dumping search in dump for initflashfiles.dat and open this file with a text editor.
Search for all Manila entries and copy them in a new .txt document.
Save this document as app.dat to a location you remember.
Next copy all Manila packages into your kitchen.
app.dat you can copy to the Core package of Manila
Done

Very simple!! I'll try! Thanks a lot!
Ok man, offcourse some other packages are depended too but this is a good start.
Run through all the Manila entries of the corresponding packages in the app.dat you create and don't forget to add them all.
After that you can cook and check how everything works.
Probably you need to update a lot more packages but that's a case of trial and effort.
Other packages you probably need are:
StartIconLoader
Settings_Improvement
Contact_Utility_Engine
HTCFramework
Menu_Enhancement
Well that's just quesing, you need to find out yourself.
Before you start make a backup of your kitchen and then start updating the packages step by step and test.
A reminder, all the packages you add extra in your kitchen in most cases also have initflashfiles.dat entries, don't forget to check that.
You can do the same with them by placing a app.dat file in the package or adding the line to initflashfiles.dat in your kitchen.

Anybody knows if latest Manila files are the same for all devices?
If aren't the same which would be the best choice to port it to X1?

What files do I need to alter? and also the build that I want to use was the 23569_0409. Please advise.

Every package have a language folder and your one have 0404. Find 0409 MUI files from WWE ROM packages and put whole folder in each package. You can delete 0404 folders or leave them alone. When you want to cook, select 0409 language so MUI files will cook from 0409 folders.

So that's all? I have to alter all the 0404 packages with the 0409? What about the OEM it was 0404 there, should i replace that too? I have tried replacing it but what happened was the fonts in the welcome screen doesnt showed up. All i see are blank buttons etc. Thank you so much Sir TAEL for helping. I know it still a long way to go before I can cook a nice rom but I'm willing to learn every bit of it that i need to.

Yes, use the OEM_Lang_0409 from another build in the OEM folder. Also do this:

Bluetooth icon in settings appears as {{8008}} [This is caused by some sneaky language files in OEMDrivers. Look for btwmhlp.0404.htm and replace it with btwmhlp.htm from an 0409 pack, and BtRez.dll.0404.mui with BtRez.dll.0409.mui]

Thanks mate! I'll try this as soon as I'm home (still @ the office right now..)
I'm not rushing in learning how to cook a nice rom. I want to learn it step by step. I'm so in to this! I'm willing to learn this even in it's hardest ways.
Thanks millski and sir TAEL! I did it! The 2.14 boot with everything in english! Thanks for your help guys!
Greetings!
First off, I have little idea what I'm doing, this is my first attempt to create a custom ROM. I've searched around and can't seem to find a solution.
I've got an Xperia X1 and am using osKitchen.
The ultimate goal is to have a Japanese ROM with WM build 25369 with no additional UIs, i never use sense or whatever anyway, just the old today screen with cal, messaging, and time/date items.
I have:
Latest stock ROM for X1 (GENERIC_NAM_R3AA011)
23569_MSXIPKernel_SYS_QVGA_WQVGA_VGA_WVGA_0409 (Just Eng)
initflashfiles-dat-all-langs-updated-feb-24-2010.zip
RUU_Diamond_eMobile_JPN_1.81.881.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.48.25.26_1.09.25.07_Ship.exe (6.1 JPN ROM)
Kovsky-xip-bin-oemxipkernel-nk-exe-native-WM65.zip
WM6550-23563-Rollup-All-Pkgs.rar (This has all languages)
Here's what I'm doing, anyone of them (or all) could be very wrong, hopefully I've done at least one thing right:
Imported X1 ROM for OEMDrivers, OEMApps, OEMOperators, oemversion, oem_dpi
Imported 6.1 JPN ROM for OEM Lang 411
-What i did here is i copied everything over from the JPN rom's oem 411 folder into the X1 OEM Lang folder, overwrote any conflicts, deleted any 0409 muis, and copied over the file from initflashfiles zip for 0411.
Replaced OEMXipKernel with the one from Kovsky-xip-bin-oemxipkernel-nk-exe-native-WM65.zip and selected custom XIP when making the rom with the one also found in that zip. Put the rest of the files (os.nb.payload, xip.bin, uldr.nb0, romhdr.bin) into the ROM Parts folder.
Then, I Used OS, OSFiles, MSXIPKernel, MSXIPKernelLTK from the 23569_MSXIPKernel_SYS_QVGA_WQVGA_VGA_WVGA_0409 zip, and the rest of the packages i used from the WM6550-23563-Rollup-All-Pkgs rar (because it had 0411 files).
I deleted dpi and lang folders that my device doesn't use (it uses 192dpi 480x800 and 0411) and built the ROM, flashed, and it shows the Sony Ericsson splash screen, and then goes black forever.
I know I must be doing something very wrong, any hints as to what?
Thanks
Pfff, what a big list,
Okay I did it this way, and I make my rom in 12 languages and they are all working.
1. Install oskitchen and import xperia rom
2. After finishing import 23563 build
3. Install another oskitchen and import diamond jpn rom
4. Copy the oem_lang 0411 and the ext packages to your kovsky kitchen be aware you put them in the right place.
5. Open the kovsky kitchen and select the Japanese language and select the packages you wanna use in your rom and you're done.
Regards,
Cool thanks!
That would be for 23563 though right? What if i wanted to use 23569 with 23563 packages? ....No real reason, higher number, figure it's better somehow....that even possible?

If you extract the 23569 build, you only have to change the All and Common folder, but in your first post you where talking about a 25369 build and I didn't know what kind off build that was.
Succes buddy,
Make sure you have the proper wince.nls in your build. If you leave it out, the rom won't boot.
